Description

Sidings may be used for marshaling, stabling and storing.
Common sidings store stationary rolling stock, especially for loading and unloading. Industrial sidings go to factories, mines, quarries, wharves, warehouses, some of them are essentially links to industrial railways. Such sidings can sometimes be found at stations for public use. Sidings may also hold maintenance of way equipment or other equipment, allowing trains to pass, or store helper engines between runs.
Some sidings have very occasional use, having been built, for example, to service an industry, a railway yard or a stub of a disused railway that has since closed. It is not uncommon for an infrequently-used siding to fall into disrepair.

I present you with a brand new RRW concept.

True DTR sidings!

Place them anywhere you wish along the railway network. They mimic real life rail sidings.
Some have fixed props and some have timed and family props.
You can drop them directly on the rail tracks or drag the rail through them.
They are fully transit enabled so you will see both passenger and freight trains go through them!

Huge thanks goes to mgb204 for making the rail cars family prop file and for all the invaluable help he has given me over the course of this project.
Also big thanks to the NAM team for making the Real Rail Way a dynamic SC4 feature which keeps growing in popularity.

**Edit 18.04.2021 minor update on the modding. The previous network/transit enabling have been changed/updated and the MAC/TE incompatibility issue have been fixed. Readme have been updated.

*Edit Aug 22 2018 Updated files with new folder structure. For the sake of an organized plugin I suggest you re-download this file and remove the old one. No other action is required in game as this update does not change the lot/s in any way*

Credit for new folder structure and helping me organize it all, goes to Tyberius06.

paddy0174 Love it, really! But let's be honest, if one tries to build with the RRW, these lots are a must-have! Without them, it's like playing SC4 without RushHour! Great job, as always! 2018-09-20
Salva1914 Niceee !! 2017-02-10
Simmer2 @simlacroix If you are referring to the color scheme then you need to install the RRW (Real Rail Way) mod that comes with NAM, in order to change Maxis original rail network. simlacroix Question Simmer, I'd like to have those rails, I've been looking for the right mode to replace the ones that SC4 has, which ones should I download? Thanks in advance. 2016-11-11
Simmer2 @cowcorn, you are absolutely right but in order to keep the third rail within a single tile and still leave a few pixel as the lot edge I had to make it like this. 2016-01-20
cowcorn Excellent! I just a little nitpick... I don't know for sure if this is true everywhere but in Canada the distance between a siding and the main track is actually greater than the distance between 2 adjacent main tracks. This allows greater flexibility when managing wide load trains. 2016-01-20
mattb325 Very Nice! 2016-01-20
SimNation More RRW love thanks 2016-01-19
