Title: US southwest residentials
Post by: GMT on September 11, 2021, 01:52:56 AM

I'm looking for a friendly soul who can create - or already has - some typical southwest US single family homes.
I'm thinking of the suburban sprawl type, eclectic 1 and 2 floor houses you see in Vegas, Phoenix, Albuquerque, throughout SoCal and so on.
From midcentury until recent dates.
1x1, 1x2 and 2x2 that blend in well with maxis content for some nice master planned divisions  ;D

While there's plenty of things available for CS, unfortunately there isn't really anything for SC4 that suits this category  ()sad()

Mattb325 has some BATs that should look right at home in a southwest US suburb. The only issue is that you might need to relot them with new textures and props to match the look of the region.

R$ and R$$ Suburban Houses:

Note: The last two links are collections of modern R$ and R$$ houses in different styles. Some are appropriate for the southwest US, others not so much.

R$$$ McMansions:

Beyond Matt, I would also suggest looking at...

NDEX McMansions by Dusktrooper:

Various residential lots by SimGoober:

(Note: There are more SimGoober homes if you want to dig deeper into his profile on Simtropolis. I picked out the ones that seemed like the best fit for what you're describing).

JMyers Homes Vol. 01

(Note: these are mostly pre-WWII homes, but there are a few options that are more modern and sprawl-friendly. The "Empire" and "Heritage" in particular should be useful.)

IDS2 Minneapolis Houses

(Note: These are mid-century homes from Minneapolis, so some of them won't translate to the southwest, but there are some options that might work for older surburban neighborhoods in places like Phoenix).

That's a nice list to work my way through, already have some of them. Thank you for the effort  &apls
Not exactly the style, but seems to be as close as it gets.
Never really thought about relotting them to be honest...

What I also found is, altho missing some textures as the linked site is no longer avbl

Bipin also has the Hamilton, which is in a similar style. However, some of the lots are corrupted, so you would need to delete the original lots and create new ones.

Personally, I've found that Bipin's houses don't fit in very well with other SC4 content -- the scale and textures tend to clash with Maxis models and BATs by other users. That said, they look fine if they're all grown together, and scale is a common problems with BATs. For example, some of SimGoober's houses are much larger than other BATs.
