It averages 144kph , and has a max of 257kph.    They hope to have the averages up to 209kph by 2030 , which is pathetic.    Meanwhile other systems are upgrading way before then....   The Acela is more of an Express Intercity service then High Speed Rail.

Fantastic pictures Nexis4Jersey.

After hearing bad things about the US passenger rail I was pleasantly surprised how nice and comfortable my ride on the Acela from Washington DC to NYC was.

Only criticism is that I almost needed professional mountain climbing equipment to get into the traincar because it was so high (or the platform too low?)  %wrd

Kelis, I love the picture with the Tram.

The Switches themselves are fine in great condition , although they will be replaced later this decade...   Most of the tracks in the Northeast are being upgraded to concrete or in some cases plastic ties...

Hehe , O.o , you like our NEC and Acela.....and yes you need mountain climbing equipment for some of the older stations although that will change later this decade.

Here's a little something in Britomart Transport Centre in Auckland, New Zealand:

And here's DC 4254 near Newmarket Station, at the end of its train waiting for a signal:

Good pictures, Mr Y.
Those slovenian trains are interesting, too.

I like those american freight locos. Especially the first one with the cab on the rear. Doesn't make much sense but looks great.

Actually rick the locomotive is going rear end first.

I cant seem to get into my rrpicturearchive.net account right now so I will post some later
