Sim City Four Rally Assoc.

Pledge:
To provide a service to the community while instilling the fun, demanding array of rally cross driving and rally racing. While at the same time providing people with the knowledge of how to build a realistic and fun wilderness in Sim City 4.

What is necessary of the Rally stages:

Description: these are 2-3 mile courses in mainly off-road conditions in special modified vehicles. The surfaces most common on rally stages are sand, dirt, gravel, or snow. Unlike a Endurance Rally like the Paris-Dakar, these are much shorter.

Rules:
At least 3 stages in one (preferably large) city tile. The track should consist of 70%+ off road routes and 30% road, allowances in road to off-road tracks are accepted in  rare or special cases. A reverse section of a stage also counts toward the three stages of track.

The road coarse length is not specified, as long as it does not turn into a circuit race, ie. going through the exact same road route more than once.

Road routes can cross each other, but they must be via bridge, jump, or simple at-level road crossing. Road crossings other than a a at-level must not be higher than 8m and must have a smaller ramp of which to land on, not just the ground.

Rally stages can cross rivers, etc. But the crossing must either be in the water or on a small bridge. Water crossings may be no more than 5 tiles long. In instances where the bridge is multiple lanes wide (ie. more than two) there must be obstacles to limit the speed of the vehicles traveling across.

In addition, every once and a while there will be a classic rally in one of the Committee countries. After the first season, other countries may host classic rallies.

Amendments will be issued if brought to attention of the Rally Committee via Personal Message.

Rally cross stages:

Description: rally cross is a form of sprint style auto racing held on a closed, mixed-surface racing circuit (ie. part dirt, part gravel). The vehicles are similar to world rally cars but a bit more powerful due to restrictions on turbos. This style of racing is popular in Nordic countries and the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and England.

Rules:
The track must be contained in one city tile and in a rural to semi-rural setting. The track must consist of about 60%-40% road to off road characteristics, but no more than 40% road.

Jumps are allowed but make them at the most small, not over-sized.

There are going to be a limited number of competitors in this event, 8-10 maximum per event. If necessary, the events will be split up into two separate races and then a final race.

Amendments will be issued if brought to attention of the Rally Committee via Personal Message.

Endurance Rally:

The final race of the season will consist of an Endurance Rally through one of the Committee Countries. After the first season, other countries may host the final rally. The final race will take part over the course of 3 days and the host country will be responsible for providing pictures when the results are determined.

Things to add to your courses to make them more eye catching:

As a thought, try to make your courses eye catching, set them in your finest locations, maybe a short stint through a town or over a small bridge.

Maybe make use of Mayor Mode Plops. Marsh has an extensive list of all MMPs that can be found here. These make your courses look very realistic and a pretty cool spectacle. Also, don't be afraid to add spectators to the sidelines.

And maybe a grandstand or two to a rally cross track.

Result determination:

Results of races will be determined by a number of factors based upon the same program used by the Simlympic Association.

Results will be determined by:

- Vehicle used (ie. Citroen, Subaru, Mitsubishi, etc.)

- Relation to Rally-winning countries.

- Experience based on previous races or seasons. Per say, if you have participated in a race before, you are more likely to win than somebody who has just entered the league in mid-season.

- First 5 nations to sign up will have a marginally better chance for the first race than the countries who sign up after the fifth person.

Sincerely,

PS, I know this seems like a lot of stuff to read and take in, but there is much more rules and regs. in the Simlympics, just so you know. And once you enter in, there is no more work left on your part except to wait for the results and tell your friends, post it on you MD, etc. SCFRA Rallies are to be held every other month and will start (hopefully) in April of 2012.

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.
