This is the support thread for the CAMeLot Counter, but it also contains complete information about all those occupant groups numbers that are available and required to be included in every building on a CAMeLot. Otherwise, that building can not be counted by the CAMeLot Counters.

The CAMeLot Counter

There are three versions of the CAMeLot Counter:

The Colossus Roundabout Statue (2×2)
Rewarded when the first commercial CAMeLot has grown.

Park Effect 75 over 27 tiles
Landmark Effect 100 over 48 tiles
Mayor Rating 3 over 440 tiles
Air Pollution -1 over 4 tiles

The Colossus Small Park (3×3)
Rewarded when the first 10 industrial CAMeLots have grown.

Park Effect 75 over 27 tiles
Landmark Effect 75 over 27 tiles
Mayor Rating 3 over 440 tiles
Air Pollution -30 over 6 tiles

The Colossus Park (4×4)
Rewarded when the first residential CAMeLot has grown.

Park Effect 100 over 48 tiles
Landmark Effect 75 over 27 tiles
Mayor Rating 3 over 440 tiles
Air Pollution -25 over 4 tiles

Each CAMeLot counter shows the same query window:

You can hover query over any part of the query to get further help and information.
The hover query will also tell you when each growth stage can be expected, based on the regional capacities (which are shown to the right, separately for residential, commercial and industrial).

Occupant Groups for CAMeLot buildings

In order for the CAMeLot Counters to be able to count all CAMeLots, each building appearing on a CAMeLot needs to have certain Occupant Groups set.
Each CAMeLot building (except farm houses) is to be given two occupant groups, one ordinary and one as indicated in blue colour below.
Farm houses only get one occupant group.

Can someone please explain the difference between Capacity and Population? I notice my Commercial and Industrial Capacity is close to my Population, but my Residential capacity is more than double the regional population.

Unfortunately not, since every countable building would have to have an appropriate tracked occupant group number set.
In order to achieve that, every single existing stage 1-8 building would have to be modded to include this information.

It was decided to include this for all CAMeLots (in-game ones as well), but it wasn't feasible to require all available buildings to be modded.

The numbers shown when querying an RCI buildings are always capacities, never the actual population or workers.
E.g. a residential building showing 127/154 is telling you that the maximum capacity is 154, but because of the desirability factors, the actual capacity is only 127.

There is no way of telling exactly how many people live in that building. You can get the workforce of that building by route querying it. However, the workforce is only some 40-60% of the population in the building (only about half the population is working). The actual number of workers in a commercial or industrial building is revealed by the route query though, a number that can be anything between 0 and the actual capacity.

The regional residential capacity also includes the number of eternal commuters and commuters from SimNation (other parts of your region than your own cities). The more eternal commuters and commuters from SimNation you've got, the more skewed will your supply/demand simulator be (see the section about eternal commuters in the CAM manual). Since the number of commuters in your region never decreases, there is no way to reduce a "virtual" residential capacity seen in your region.

For more detail about your city's population, capacities, demand and CAPs, I can recommend the Census Repository Facility, version 2 (which will soon be available on the LEX as well).

SlimShady

Census Repository Facility, version 2 was the first building I downloaded when I started visiting these sites. I was wondering if they are able to work together as I was looking forward to the Cam Counter's arrival. You rock RJ!!! ;D

Kitsune

The building to the left of the counter identifies itself as "CO$$$ Stage 14 Tragicomicus Bank One"

However, as this image shows, it does not appear in the counter, so I think its a bug of eithier the counter or the building, so I'm posting it here....

Its my first stage 14 too, hence why I noticed it :)

The counter will only pick up the buildings after the counter lot has been placed. Any that grew before it will not be counted.

If the building has the correct Occupant Groups set, it will be counted, regardless of whether the CAMeLot Counter has been built or not.
In other words, that bank does not have the correct OG. Thanks for pointing that out, Kitsune!

The Tragicomicus Bank One had an Occupant Group telling it was a stage 13 building.

BarbyW has corrected that to be stage 14, and provided an Update CO§§§ 13/14 for those who have previously downloaded the CAM Commercial Offices BSC starter pack.

Thank you, Barby! &apls

NOTE

For those who have already had this building growing with Occupant Group "CAMeLot CO§§§ stage 13" will not see the building get upgraded in the CAMeLot Counter.
Occupant Groups are counted at the moment when the building grows, and won't get updated if the occupant group is later changed.
I think this is what Swamper77 was referring to. ;)

After updating this building, any future instances of it growing will be correctly counted as a stage 14 CO§§§.

It only lasted for about 10 game years I noticed before it was replaced by my first stage 15 :)

Is it just me, or did a few zip files get left out of the updated file? Lucky for me, I didn't overwrite the old file with the new one yet.  But 3 of the zip files inside of the zip file CAM CO$$.zip are missing.  Was that by plan, or a mistake?

I only updated the zip with the stage 13/14 CO$$$ buildings in as that was the one containing the error. None of the other files have been touched.

You sure about that?  I'm talking about the files that's are in the "CAM Commercial Offices BSC" pack.  I'm the kind of guy that likes to re-download the original file if it's updated, even if a separate fix was released and is smaller to download.

Now, in the "CAM Commercial Offices BSC" Description of the download, it says there is suppose to be 10 zip files in the download.  Right now, there are only 7 in it.  The zip files from that download that are missing are as following:

  • Install_CAM_CO$$1213_BSC.zip
  • Install_CAM_CO$$1415_BSC.zip
  • Install_CAM_CO$$811_BSC.zip
All three of those files somehow got left out of the updated CAM CO$$.zip file and the new file size is 1,439KB per the site when the old one that I have is 2,044KB.

Just thought I would let you guys know about this because you never know when a new person might sign up for the LEX and download that file and be missing those three zip files.

I do apologise as I uploaded the wrong zip. I have uploaded the correct one now. Thansk for being persistent and not taking my word for it. ::)

Would it be possible to add the number of CAMeLots to the hover over query box?? ie when you use the query tool and just hover over the Counters. It would be a nice quirk and would add to the whole CAM experience

Thanks

Joe

Unfortunately the hover query can only display text and the values of certain properties of the building itself.
It cannot display any LUA tokens (variables) read from the game.
