UPDATED!!!

I am very happy to open my first MD at SC4D... I moved it here from ST because of some bashing. This seems like a much Friendlier SC4 Community :)

Welcome to Hong Tain

Hard to see what there would be about this to bash (and you are not likely to see any bashing here anyway). It looks like this is off to a great start. It's a dense city, but seems to flow nicely. After just a quick look, it doesn't seem as though there is much repetition of buildings which adds a nice touch of realism. The airports in the first and last pics look great stuck out into the water like that. I'll look forward to what comes next.

A good start, so far! Your CBD looks good and I like how the highway wraps around the island. The only thing I would suggest is to look into the custom airport stuff, since I'm not a fan of the Maxis airport. Other than that, keep up the good work! I can't wait to see how you further develop this!

Shadow Assassin

Two things you should get your hands on:
- Slope Mod. You need one. :P Also, pick up the Bridge Height Mod if you haven't done so already.
- Develop the waterfront a little more. It looks a little odd if you've got skyscrapers next to an undeveloped waterfront. Just a simple seawall will do, and fill the gap in with greenery.

It's not a bad job, though.

Same general feeling than SA ( not bad at all , a good city planning .  ) and same advices ... plus , you should use a tree controler to add vegetation to this region and achieve terraforming before to show the development , like this that looks more cluttered than " under development " .
Keep it up .  ;)

Nice start. Is that an airport runway projecting into the bay? Very realistic idea if it is. You could do some nice waterfronts in this region.

i do have the bridge height mod... it just looked better raised a bit... i might actually build a tunnel under...

and sam yes it is

As you can tell this city is modled after Hong Kong. Shouldnt the airport be like it to  ;)

and i am working on seawalls along the harbor

Thornton

This looks like a very nice MD, looking forward to how this is going to turn out.

It looks very much like HongKong, with the skyscrapers all cramped together on the flatter parts and then the hills more or less undeveloped.  Very nice, and the only thing I did notice was the highway leading up to the bridge, it looks very steep.

Some History of Hong Tain

The Hong Tain Region was founded in 1757 as the French's main port in the east. The French founded a colony what now is New Amsterdam. The french built Parisian style buildings and named the city New Paris.  :D One day the dutch sailed into the harbor and started attacking the French Navy...

After a week of battle the Dutch won and took control of the harbor. They renamed the grand city New Amsterdam. they decided to keep the Parisian buildings because they were too lazy to tear them down. :P

Now Hong Tain is still under dutch rule. The Dutch flag still flys at all of the government buildings. Also my favorite airline KLM has its Asian hub at Hong Tain International.  ???
The city has grown 1.5 million and has one of the largest ports in Asia behind Shanghai!  ()stsfd()

Well, I'm gone for a day and here's a really nice start on what looks like what will be a great MD.  sf121, I think others have made all the suggestions I would have- I particularly think you'll love using a slope mod, given the challenging terrain you've taken on.  The need to plan infrastructure "with the lay of the land" seems a bit of a bother at first, but I think you'll find that it actually opens up possibilities you never imaging as time goes by.

Lots of stuff here reminds me of Alek's (Alek King of SC4) style of urban development.  And that's a good thing!  I think that you are taking the time to think through a bit of background history is a real plus, too.  There's lots of MDs/CJs vying for attention, and if your readers are a bit more engaged in yours than they are in others, it'll pay huge dividends over the long haul.

Good luck!
