Well I have always wanted more "rough" and "basic" smaller bridges for my bushland portions of the region.
After reading the Tutorial I decided to try it ...
Jeronij made few comments and I have a question or two ...
1. The START/END piece ... does that need to be exactly 16x16 or can that be made longer ?
2. Can we change the actual transport texture to be something else ?
Here is what I have sofar ... it is all three pieces and needs a few more elements.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripwired.co.za%2FJCS_Bucket%2FBAT%2FCSX%2520Bridge_Timber00.jpg&hash=920d0025fe55311eba885d87018f36a4d8502eca)
that looks so detailed and unique, excellent work  &apls
Short of time now.... ::)
1) no, but keep it always tileable, (16x16,16x32,16x48,16x64.....)
2) You can use the texture that you prefere I suggested the existing textures to keep visual compatibility with the other bridges but it is up to you to use them or not ;)
I hope this lets you continue with this nice and unique one
Gorgeous work, Colyn!
David
Totaly awsome there colyn i cant wait to see the finish project &apls
Ok thanks JR ... now let me ask it this way ...
1. Can the Endpiece be 16 wide 32 long - one piece two tiles long ?
This is where I am now ...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripwired.co.za%2FJCS_Bucket%2FBAT%2FCSX%2520Bridge_Kwanyoni00.jpg&hash=159640da9e664230469c404825a92c4f4e8d3588)
This is a great idea Colyn, this is indeed something that has not been made yet.
1) Yes. However keep the pieces as short (in tiles) as possible.
Appropriate combinations:
(width X lenght)= (16x16,16x32,16x48,16x64.....) <--> Tiles (1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4,...)
The width must be always 16 (maximum) - The lenght can be variable, but always a 16 multiplier
Thanks JR ... noww netx question ...
1. What will happen if the LEGS are not 200m long ?
Pls, try to keep all the questions in the same thread.... ::) ... I just answered that question in the other thread. Here is a copy of the answer:
QuoteColyn:
(1st Piece) The start and the end pieces are the same piece, which the game mirrors as necessary.
(2nd Piece)There must be a repeat piece, which normally does not have pylons ( but this depends on the type of bridge that you are doing). I can not see this piece in your bridge
(3rd Piece)There must be a center piece, with pylons, for longer bridge lenghts. This piece should have the pylons-supports as long as possible. I can see this piece in your model ( the center piece).
The 200 meters thing: You must provide your bridge with as long as possible supports. To see how this works: Make a test with the Krummbach bridge.
Place one bridge at almost sea level
Place one bridge at 100 meters of elevation
Place one bridge at 200 meters of elevation
Place one bridge at 300 meters of elevation
Until the 200 meters you will see the bridge's model pylons
From the 200 meters you will see the Maxis pylons bases (is like a building foundation)
The shorter you make your pylons, the sooner the Maxis foundations will shop up.
About the start/end piece, yes, that is what I mean.
Thanks I did see it there.
Nice work Colyn. For an admin, your lack of respect for the rules is appalling, posting the same questions in multiple topics! :D
Hmmm ... I did not post in multiple topics :o ... I just got answered in multople topics :)
This is really a great bridge design, Colyn. Hopefully you'll make this available when you are done with it. I would love to see a bridge like that for streets actually. It would seem more appropriate. Really great work.
---Gaston
maybe the whole deck could be planks? I dunno, it looks good, but to me the blacktop just doesnt fit
Its your choice though
The MODEL files has been sent to Jeronij ... now it is wait and see ... I will be away for 8 days so it will be at least a week before I will see anything. Thanks for the comments and yes I will work on the Textures for the deck when I have more time ... this was done for a first test ...
I want real bundu bridges with vines etc.
PS ... the bridge design is of such that it would look very nasty if you use it too HIGH above the water.
So, I recedived the models, and made some modding...
Bad news: The start piece SC4Model file is corrupted ( bad rendering) and the piece only shows at Zoom 1 and 2. We need this piece to be re-rendered again &mmm
Good news: All the rest works fine ;D

As Colyn mentioned, this bridge is not intended to be placed over 45 meters high. This will happens if you do that:
Btw, I have circled the piece joints, because they do not fit exactly well. I suggest you to read the How you get rid of the glitches between pieces (http://http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=158.0) tutorial and render all the pieces again to get rid of those ugly joints ::) (so, if you want to change the road texture to something different you can also do this, I think if would give the final touch to this unique bridge ;) )
Now, I will wait until you return....and go for my own one ;D
Just wondering...
Would it be possible to have it have a wooden deck ? :P Now that woulda give a cool look, great work on what's done by the way! ;D
wow! beautiful bridge!!! &apls i'm looking forward to see the finished product, keep up the great work
wow, thats absolute great  &apls
Yes, definitely awesome!
I would also like to add my voice to the chorus of "wooden texture!" :P
Great work being done here! &apls
EDIT: For what it's worth...
Welcome to Page 2! :P
JR it is close t midnigt and I saw your post ... been very busy ... I am re-rendering now ...
Those rings is supposed to be there ... it is the ends of LOGS ;)
I am leaving on my trip in 5 hours ... hope to get this render out and off to you.
The bridge looks great and when I am back I will do other versions ... one for streets with a timber deck and I want to do one with lots of jungle creepers and vines on the structure.
I also want to do one or two really low level bush bridges that consists totally out of logs and timber.
Thanks for you efforts.
that are some good ideas  good luck on you projects, only 1 favor ;D could you make for rail version bridges with the same design are you planing, so you only need to change the texture of the road, to a rail texture ;)
Well, you did a great job, Colyn. I was wondering, could the gap between supports be widened to 2 tiles? It'd make it look better, and allow somewhat more room in building the actual bridge. :P
This bridge looks great! Amazing work, Colyn!
Colyn, this bridge of yours is fantastic--it's very different than all the others out there, and brings much needed variety. &apls Glad to hear you're doing wooden deck versions as well. Looking forward to seeing the end result.
-Alex
Finally I had sometime to play witht the start piece, and fix it ;D
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/images/jrj/bridges/CSXKwan_Imagen4.jpg)
Btw, the rendering problem for that piece was the complexity of the LOD's. I changed them to this:
which worked fine ;)
I will email the bridge to Colyn so he can pack it when he comes back from his tour.
Oh, I also moved the piece 8 meters to the center, to make it work as an overhanging prop...and works fine as well
Great work, jeronij and Colyn! This bridge adds some much needed diversity!
awesome work we need more rural bridges for the "middle of nowhere" areas
JR ... I just got back from my trip and I am glad to see the bridge ... I thought it was the LODs :( ... one thing ... those end pieces are reversed :o ... they need to flip arond 180 degrees ... the stone wall section should be facing the direction of the land ... is it a big thing to fix ?
no problem. I had to merge the model and it seems that something went upside down ::)
I have to add a custom Icon as well.
When finished I will let you know ;)
Colyn and Jeronij you two just rock. great updates and i sooooo cant for you to release it colyn - pat
The Kwanyoni Bridge is on the LEX now ...
Can somebody please tell me where I can get the ROAD textures and the RAIL textures so that I can make bridges for that too.
Thanks.

you can find some. However, it seems I will have to upload the rail one.... :-[
Will this do, Colyn?
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi80.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fj179%2FGlenni91%2FBAT%2520pics%2Frail5vs.jpg&hash=c76e67e768795cc29503ff0d3cbcb59ae095e14e)
Thanks ... now I need the one for streets ... the GREY one please.
Colyn-
Here (http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/2695/streetrc3.png) is the street texture in PNG format. I took the liberty of removing the default sidewalk from it.
Hope that helps!
-Alex
Thanks
Ahhh! You guys are gods!
David
The standard game transit textures need to be corrected before using them in the BAT/GMAX "$Deal"$
The textures attached to the tutorial post are corrected, and will look better ( but not perfect) in the game.
Colyn, ,
If you want to use non corrected textures, you should correct them yourself.
My system:
1st: Convert the texture to grey scale.
2nd: Brightness -25
Save and use.
I plan to correct all the missing textures and attach them to the tutorial as soon as possible Done ¡¡¡ ()stsfd()
Jeronij and or Colyn,
i was wondering if its a height issue or what. %confuso But i did use the
Kwanyoni Bridge which i do love. But at this height it put in the maxis pylon
and well it kinda is sad to see it. so heres a pic of what I'm talking about.
If that is the case is there gonna be an addition or should i find a way to lower the
bridge height or just hide the pylon? Any help is helpful - pat

pat, second option ;)
Pat ... I specifically designed the bridge to be only able to go 45m or so ... even that is haigh already for a timber post bridge. Kwanyoyninu looks at it's best if the stone footing just sticks out above the water.
I am working on the road and rail versions and will do some samples of how to use them.
Here is a shot ...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripwired.co.za%2FJCS_Bucket%2FSC4%2520Shosaloza%2FKwanyoni_01.jpg&hash=cb796c47ca3a81837372d322b85791dc84c90e56)
The endpieces should not protrude much and the low stonewalls that are hanging free in your shot is also not good.
Placing a bridge in SC4 can be an art by itself sometimes ::) , and really time consuming $%Grinno$%
I remember I have spent hours literally placing and detailing a bridge ( SCR ) But once is done, is done forever ;D
Jeronij and Colyn thank you guys for the quick help. I was going try to rework the bridge height and adjust the start/end piece as i noticed it when i zoomed in and after when colyn you had pointed it out lol. Well i was adding the rain to flood the area and the my game crashed to desktop. Oh well but at least now i got more of an idea to place the bridge. I will post the redone shot once i can get it lol- pat
This bridge is great, Colyn. I can seen Sir Alec Guinnes standing on the side of this bridge. Like in Bridge on the River Kwai [ linkie (http://www.historyinfilm.com/kwai/index.htm) ] It has a striking resemblence to that one. (whistleing the theme song Click on music on the link above) One of my all time favorite movies. LOL We DEFFINATELY need a rail version. Perhaps you could put in the overhead supports like in the Kwai River bridge. That would be very kool indeed. ;D
