Title: map and stuff for seaport
Post by: Zenotheweno on January 21, 2009, 11:43:35 PM
Sorry if my english is not so good, it is not my first language.

I have been playing sim city 4 (rush hour) for a couple of years now and my dream was/is to build a really nice looking industrial seaport.

I have come accross many problems the biggest is that i can never seem to get straight edge coastlines to start, so i've never really had to chance to create one...is there a map which already has straight coastlines? I have tried building them myself but i am worthless at this :)

Secondly does anyone know where i can find some really decent industrial looking buildings, cargo packs for a seaport?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone can help me!

Zeno,

Your English is excellent don't worry, I understand you very well.

I had the same problem as you and just could not get a straight coastline using the tools available but then I found this excellent tutorial (in English) on Simpegs site that basically solved all my problems. I am sure it will help you too...

http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?topic=5260.0 (tutorial for creating straight coastlines)

Please let me know how you get on.

For the tutorial you will need a hole digging lot. The tutorial suggests some lots by Smoncrie but I personally use the following

http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1544 (hole digging lots)

May I also recommend downloading the following to help you out...

http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1512 (slope mod to allow for smoother slopes)

http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item604 (a leveller that levels the coastline to the right height for building ports)

As for browsing for seaport stuff investigate further PEG's site at www.simpeg.com, you will need to register to see the good stuff but I have linked them below anyway...

http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat877 (seaports and coastal kits galore)

I hope this helps!

Kind regards

Le_Harv

If I had to suggest just one name on ports/industrial lots, I would say Pegasus but I can do one better and give you a link that has everything you are looking for.

As far as building a seaport, look at this tutorial and reply back if you have any more specific questions.

since this is already being read...i have two more requests  :)

firstly: when im building residential zones, is it possible to get trees to grow on the streets, cause now it looks empty and not natural...

secondly is there a way to get rid of that awful brown patch when you're building a train way...

thank you!!!!

Hi Zeno,

For more interesting streets you could try out jeronijs street side mod: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=115
As always with custom content, be sure to read the instructions carefully.
I'm not sure what the brow patch is. could you post a screenshot of it?

If you're talking about dirt under the rails try this:

http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item77 (http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item77)
(removes all textures)
or:
