Been working a bit more on the facade with the loading docks:

A lot of the windows are bricked up. Thinking I will do the building I more like on the picture Matt posted,
than it is at present.
That side building on the back, considering to leave it out (look at the pictures in link above, taken by Droric on my behave :) ).

Thank you, romualdillo. Was this what you though of as an 45 degrees corner ?

Now with some windows:

A close up:

A lot of details has gone into the windows, more than normal than I use to.

EDIT: I see I have undone some of the changes to top level. As can be seen there are a few sections with to the new details.
Look at the shadows between the windows on the top floor.
Going for the dark shadow you seen under the three towers.

It looks really good!! Yes, that was what I meant. There are not many industrial buildings with a 45º shape, great work!!  &apls

A quick update:

Have done all the windows on the two sides.
- What is missing now on the two sides are:
- Fire Escape
- The entrance on the main facade.
- Figuring out how the loading docks should look like. Got no idea so far. The terrain is a meter or two lower than the entrance.

Any one could show me some pictures of older loading docks and the doors from the Chicago area ?

vester

Have been working on the two other sides.

First a pic of the front side:

...of the corner and loading dock side:

...and the back side and the side toward the canal:

Still a lot of holes for windows on the back side.

Looks really cool, Arne. :)
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Yes this is shaping up really nice. Love the angles!  &apls

How large is it going to be btw, hard to tell the size without a reference point in the previews.

Great-looking building! Having more 45 degree corners would be great. Though having the angled side overhang to align with an FA3 road would also be handy.

So far its 91x50 meters (min 6x4 tiles).

Can you can give an angle to work with ?

Stumble over a site with Chicago filming locations:

What is that over on the other side the river ?

... and on the side, where the loading docks are.

Both taken from an episode of Chicago PD.

I also found the film where I first saw this building: Wanted

(behind the that 'castle looking building, which is Computer Generated).

What do you think about the roof of the loading docks ?
Probably also going to extend the decks under the doors .
Might also do a version later on with some more modern loading docks, like the ones you see on the building now.

Started to work on the back side as well.

Found a report from the city called: Cermak Road Bridge District
In it, you can read:
"Direct access to rail lines came into the warehouse on the
first floor where both shipping and loading took place."

From that I am thinking of doing two big openings at the back for trains. What do you think ?

Simcoug

Big doors for rail lines would be super sweet

I second that!! This new project is developing fantastically!!  &apls

c.p.

The building is looking great so far. The roofs of the loading docks look fine, but I wonder if they would look better (more roof-like) if they were extended out a little further from the building.  :-\

Thank you all.

At the moment I am trying to figure out how to get the details on the building, to work, put together in another way.

Talking about that.... saw a bit of the detailed used on a school tower (now torn down :( )

My first response was, haven't I seen that somewhere before ?!?

Thinking of replicate the semi arc, then 3-4 sandstone like stripes on some columns, maybe even, some the details that you seen on the columns.
Now its just how to go from on arch to next.....

The roofs was sort of rough sketch done in a quicky (yeah its missing an L  $%Grinno$%).... no more than an idea, than anything else

vester

An quick update:

Think I will change the top of the columns.

Hi Arne.
Regarding your request.
By the looks of those doors, you would want rails going into the building, correct?
Are you batting the base outside the building as well? If not, then a set of straight DTR's should do, just by the edge of the door going inwards.
Let me know what you need.

Hello Arne.
I think this is what you are looking for.
DW to DTR
Crude but I did it in 1 hour so just slice it and use it. I even color matched it to RRW specs.

Could you make one that ends up 1/2 tile to the side ?

Arnie, open that pic on a 256x512 layer on a white background.
Then with the Gimp pencil draw where you would want it to end, perhaps use the one you sent me as an example as well if you wish.
