Very nice, I look forward to having these grow in my suburbs. Well done Travis and Will G. &apls
Regardless of what it may be, more diversity in suburban homes will be a welcome addition! The first textured home looks great already!
Looks GREAT so far! I was wondering if I could request some house designs??

As suburbia makes up a lion's share of any city it's the area most in need of diversification. I have lots of nice houses installed but I know them all, there's just not enough to mimic reality. I eagerly await your progress with all this ITC, and am happy to have a look at any of your models (my email is visible)

That's my main goal with this project. I want to have it so you can have neighborhoods from all years. If you want to have a 1950's neighborhood, you can.

It's a texture, one of CPs base textures that I have standardized on all house lots. ;)

who knows. :-\
When are we gonna see some of my models in game? :P
It looks good, huge variety is what's needed... but... the roof tiles look a little bit too big... they should be shrunk down a little bit.
Other than that, everything's perfect.
Are you also going to do a few of these houses at different angles, etc? It'd break up the monotony a great deal too.
The houses look great so far!! I like how you have the driveways connect to the street, very nice touch.
Travis simply stunning man!!! WOW!!!

I'll throw my 2 cents in as well... any suggestions?
Really nice and perfect house Travis. &apls
But there is a light bug no the right of the 1st pciture.
Looks pretty good Casper. A couple small sugestions, first replace the dumpster with something smaller. Most people set out several cans. Second, the bushes around there seem to be growing over the path to the house. As for the side section, is this meant to be a corner lot? If not, which end faces the street and how would the cars get there? Also, I like the pool idea, and I find the fence around it a nice nod to reality, but if there is a larger one, I'd suggest using it. The second story overhanging part of the house makes the pool seem tiny there.
Lastly, as a note for Travis, if the model is still open for comments, I'd suggest decreasing the width of the shingles on the house, they seem a bit wide.
Otherwise, it looks pretty good so far..
-Matt
excellent lotting casper. Agreed with Matt's suggestions as well.
QuoteLastly, as a note for Travis, if the model is still open for comments, I'd suggest decreasing the width of the shingles on the house, they seem a bit wide.
Heh, that's actually been fixed already; if only he was using the latest version.. ::) :P
This larger one will make my suburban sprawl all the better. ()stsfd()
Decided to do a MEGA lot for the Cornell's as well - still got to fix numerous issues.
- Make prop/building families for the houses
- Make the gazebo connect to the house instead of the road
- Fix the 'floating' tree that is growing through one of the houses

The 4x4 and 5x5 lot are very nice. Waiting for the final release to test it
nice lots Casper! Can't wait for these to be released.
-Jordan
simply stunning work you two!!
The Columbia is a nice looking lot Casper. However, it's not quite what I think of when I think of American suburbs. Most houses tend to develop facing the street, and you don't see many communal parking areas. There are places you do see that though from time to time. They tend to be dense developments or slightly more rural areas, but even those tend to have driveways extending into them. People around here do enjoy their cars. Looks good otherwise.
-Matt
Looks very nice and realistic..who is to say we need to do things exactly the way its done in real life. Lovely Innovation and will make the sprawl look nice. Ever thought of making some 10x10 house community sets as well? Would look great.
Splendid lot Casper.

I'm especially liking all of the new work I'm seeing here. This work along with the RLS homes will be great for my projects. I'm really liking those MEGA lots too, Casper! As well as all of the modelings and textures.

Long time lurker - have been watching this thread for a while and the results are amazing, the realism and detail in these are so good.
Great work and looking forward to the release!
I am pumped for this, I wanted to do something like this, but I have neither the skill or the steady hands to pull off a procedure like that :P But seriously good job guys i'll be getting this as soon as it is ready.
Quick question tho? is it possible for you guys to make your houses more likley to grow in-game?? So that i am not deleting house after house waiting for yours to grow in a specific neighborhood.
Also, I'm lookign to make some nice suburb's, like new modern developments in my city (which I think your project here will do great). Unfortunatly, I can only seem to grow either low wealth or high wealth :angrymore: I BATTED a few high wealth lots but made them look middle class to combat this, but only 2 thus far, anywasy what i am asking is.......Will your high wealth lots look simple and middle class and not, umm, over the top, like the Maxis ones?

Well, its possible, but because you'd have to make the lot stats off-balanced in order to do this, I'll choose a different approach: an optional mod that replaces all maxis R$$ low-density houses with SS homes- which is a viable option as there are more than enough homes available in the project. :)
Quote from: MattyFo on January 21, 2010, 08:05:11 PMAlso, I'm lookign to make some nice suburb's, like new modern developments in my city (which I think your project here will do great). Well, for now when I'm testing in my sandbox region, I raise the taxes to the max on low and high wealth, ensuring only $$ houses grow. and, that coupled with the block-maxis mod (you can get it on the LEX) all I see are my houses. :) As per high wealth lots; they're quite a ways away yet (I want to finish and release the R$$ set first, and knowing me (as well as seeing how long its already taken, this was started in 2008 :P ) god only knows when that will be. ::) $%Grinno$% But, if you're into the art of batting suburban items (you mentioned some high-wealth bats), why not share some pix? the SS is always hiring. ;D You can post here or PM me if you want. ;)
Anyhow, sorry for the hold-up folks- been working on the paperwork and administration aspects of starting a new team. fun stuff. ::) That means when we get a team board, this thread will move again- just notifying you guys in advance. Continuing to love your efforts here and I'm sorry I haven't been able to participate more actively with testing etc., my life has been taken over by my BATting project (which is nearly done ;D) I have however still got an earlier version of the suburban set loaded in one of my test cities. Time and time again when I whip out the query tool to investigate a house that's caught my eye, it's one of these. So for me that's evidence of the quality of the work, keep at it.
(and FWIW I've still not had any issues with any of it, they are growing in appropriate (not too many, not too few) numbers and look great)
thanks. ;)

Wow! Excellent work, Travis and riiga! Can't wait to see these textures on new lots!
Nice textures, riiga.
This is a very impressive project. I can't wait for wide release of these lots. The muted colors and ordinariness (word?) of the homes will add greatly to suburban realism. Keep up the great work!
great job. I can't wait to use such realistic homes in my cities. Are you going to try to create some more modern suburban homes?
A suggestion for the Cornell mega lot... Either A) TE the street, or else B) add an overhanging (prop? texture?) to have it visually connect with the street. I've notice a lot of lots that look like they should be TE'd, but aren't and the effect isn't that great.
hconline: there is a problem with TEing growable lots as they will not upgrade.
These are great houses. I look forward to them when they're released fully.

well, it's been a while... but rest assured, the SS is not dead. It's actually never been dead, but there come times where work is going too slow to post progress. :P
Well, today I'll show a house I BATted myself. It's been for all practical purposes finished for months now, but I never got around to showing pix. %wrd Of course, more color and lot variations are coming; that's a given with anything in the SS. ::)

Nice house, very... american! :D Maybe you should accentuate the lights at night?
Guillaume
I love your project, very nice suburb houses  but it's too much american for my SC4 european cities ;D
I've been watching this for a while - glad to see it's still alive and kicking! There are some great looking houses in this project.
Sorry for bumping this thread..
I just have to ask--any new developments going on? Have the houses been uploaded somewhere?
I know, sorry, just want to see some more variety in my cities, as these would make a great addition to my 'burbs!
Once again, sorry.

The Lots, to my knowledge, weren't released, and aren't available. The main creator behind them hasn't posted in 2 years.
