I'm really starting to wonder if the mainboard is the culprit after all. I never used Asrock boards so far, but relied heavily on ASUS and MSI, and so far, ASUS boards were those with the smallest number of problems (never any RAM incompatibilities and all). Did you check if your RAM is listed in the compatibility list for your mainboard? Maybe manually changing the timings could solve the freeze problem, esp. now that it seems to freeze fewer than before with the old RAM sticks removed. And if nothing helps, is the hardware still under warranty, so you could return it and get a replacement?
