Desktop problem

I have some problem with my desktop:
1. My computer stoped respond suddenly especially when I click start menu. This make me cannot use my desktop and of course play SC4.
2. The game (SC4) is to slow.
This is my desktop:
Processor Intel pentium 4 2.26 ghz
RAM 1024 mb
Nvidia geforce 6200 256 mb
80 gb Hardisk
Windows xp sp 2.

Check your hardware, esp. the CPU fan. It might be possible that it broke/got stuck and the CPU is now throttling, so it doesn't get damaged, making your computer very slow. Also check for viruses, spyware and such, and scan the harddisk for errors.

and check the inner parts of your computer for dust. Dust can slow your computer down very much. Fortunately it can be removed using a can of pressurized air

yes, SC4 does not require a high end video card since most of the game is rendered using the CPU
