Title: Yoder7652's BAT Workshop
Post by: Yoder7652 on February 07, 2007, 01:40:27 PM
From this locale, I will provide pics of upcoming releases currently in production. Until now I have only relied on my BSC bretheran for help and guidance into making my bat projects better. Now I plan to give the viewing public some sneek peeks of what I'm working on and what "hopefully" will be making a debut on the BSC LEX.

I begin with a project begun last summer. Around October I took a break from working on the project and have been slowly coming back around to work on it. The aim is to develop St. Peter's Basillica and Plaza for SC4. So far I have the plaza pretty much ready to go (with the exception of the base texture) and I'm through about 85% of the Basillica (I hope I'm spelling that right!) with mostly details left to add and some roof elements. I'll start with a pic of one side of the plaza that I finished quite a while ago and I'll add pics as I finish/render some other elements...maybe I'll have a pic of the current state of the Basillica by next week sometime.
Enjoy!

Well...this is coming a little later than anticipated, but I thought I'd show you the current state of St. Peter Bascilica. There is still much to do, such as more detail and domes for the roof, I'm still tweaking textures and I haven't added any of the statues/clocks on the front of the building.
Enjoy!

Great to see some historical jewels making it to the SC4!
Overall you model is very nice, but some proportions are a bit off. mainly the central nave... it is WAY to narrow! But I think it is very easy thing to fix  - since it is only denoted by the width of the roof that covers it just make it wider about 75%
Title: Re: Yoder7652's BAT Workshop
Post by: callagrafx on March 08, 2007, 02:18:34 AM
@Simfox: Not easily done...if you notice the roofs line up with Dome's octagonal base, so any stretching will mean they do not line up anymore.  They look fine, maybe not 100% accurate, but it is for a pseudo 3D game after all...

Yoder, I can't wait to see the next instalment.
Title: Re: Yoder7652's BAT Workshop
Post by: SimFox on March 08, 2007, 09:53:10 AM
oh yeah... I see, but i think it is still could be a solution. so what it it will stretch beyond the limits of the dome base... now it looks a bit to narrow, At any rate it is a nice recreation!!

Post by: Yoder7652 on March 15, 2007, 07:11:17 PM
Ok everybody...thanks for all the comments! I have made a little bit of progress, but I haven't had much time to bat in the last few weeks. At any rate I thought I'd show some pics of the few details I have been working on.

@Simfox...Cal is right about the nave. There are some elements of the roof that are hard to change because several other parts rely on them, but I was able to stretch stuff out a bit and I think it looks better. I also stretched out the lightwells on either side of the nave as well.

Enjoy the pics.

 WOW. this is very impressive!! simply wonderfull.

I'm allready making plans for the city this beauty will be the centrepiece of.

What are your plans for the Saint Peter? will you add the collonade or will you make two versions, one alone and one with the collonade? It would multiply the possibillities of this Gem.

Thanks for all the comments!

I thought I'd post a little verbal update...no pics (sorry :'( ). I have not had as much time to work on the building recently, but tonight I was able to work out several of the statues and the clocks that will line the top of the front of the building. I also have my bells for the bell tower now. I still have one more major component to finish - the 2 smaller, but detailed domes - and then some more roof details such as fencing several staircases, etc....but I'm closing in on it  ()stsfd()

Since there has been some question about how the lot will be composed I thought I'd provide a little insight into what I was thinking. St. Peter's Bascilica will be the base model and each side of the collonade will be a seperate prop. Also, the Obelisk in the middle will be a prop as will the fountains. I'm also trying to decide if I should model the base or make it base textures (although I'm leaning toward modeling it as a seperate prop as well ;) ). Hopefully I'll have some pics by the end of the week (sat. or maybe sun.).

In the meanwhile, I might have a different release for the community this weekend of something I created awhile ago that is near and dear to my heart. It has not made an appearance to the forums yet....so stay tuned!  :satisfied:

Hi there and thanks for the update Yoder! :)

I'm glad to hear that things are progressing smoothly.

If I can just add my two cents on the base... I think a model is the only way it would do any justice to the base. But, if you can find base textures that can do the job I'm thinking "why not."

Anyway, all the best with this project! I'm rooting for you!

Hi Yoder ,

I wondered too about the Lot size , the zip file size , etc , for a such imposing BAT .... ::)
Now you gave me another worry with the base ... I just implore you to not integrate it to the 3D model , it's impossible to add correctely props on this kind of base ...at least ,as you said , model it as a separated prop , please ... :P

I'm looking forward to your next update.

BTW, the hungarian house of parlement is incredible. very nice!

Debussyman is correct. The front will have a place where a prop attaches to it so that the columns will not be suspended in air.....I have actually finished the Bascilica and the only have left the plaza base...but alas, I haven't had much time lately to work on this. I'm out of town all weekend starting tomorrow morning, but when I get back and have a chance, I'll post a pic of my progress...once the base is done it will be off to lotting and modding!

Post by: Yoder7652 on August 28, 2007, 06:42:55 PM
Indeed, the bat is still in progress...actually all of the modeling is now done! The bascilica is done, the two arms of the square are done, the front porch of the bascilica is done, the obelisk, fountains, the textures/lines for the square, and the lamps for the square are all done. What I haven't had time to do is render everything. Presently the porch needs to be rendered as well as the lamps and the new versions of the fountain and obelisk...other than that, it will need modding which someone at the BSC will have to help me out with and then it'll be ready. Doesn't sound like much, but I really haven't had the time to do the rendering so that is slowing me down at the moment.  &mmm

Hello brother.
First I want to tell you how I'm fascinated by your work. To me you're the best creator of BAT in the whole society SC4. I noticed that your case is emblematic buildings of the world  as a Hungarian Parliament and St. Peter. My request and suggestion is if you want, and free time to do for us British Parliament. However, it is a symbol of London but the world. I think it is unacceptable to such a famous building is not in our list even though there are hundreds of  other  not so  famous  that are recreated in BAT models. And the best for this task without a doubt you.

Best,
- Ivaylo

Ivaylo, you kicked a three and a half year old thread! The last reply was from September  2007. Probably this user has been inactive for a long time. Please take a look at the dates before kicking an old thread...

yes I agree, but I checked and he was active today, maybe a providencial answer will come   :)

However in this case, contact by email the author, it's always better than put up a such old thread   ;)

Yes I know that the topic has not been active for a long time but it only of Yoder write about it here. I see that it is active almost every  day and I sent him a personal message. But I write here to enable others to take position  on the  topic. Let's get a good and positive discussion and if someone agrees to do this project - what better
Best,
- Ivaylo (Ivo)
