Waldey, My Epicurean Garden
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg829.imageshack.us%2Fimg829%2F9128%2F220pxepicurusbust2.jpg&hash=9abd6060cf88e42fe1ae6af30efa77f6932c4ca4)

Hello and welcome to my very first MD!

Epicurus was a greek philosoph, born 341 BCE on Samos. He was the founder of a school whose most important purpose was a happy tranquil life, characterized by peace and freedom from fear and the absence of pain.

He was the first who gave freedom to his slaves, he was the first who spoke about one mankind, the first who treated women and men in the same way.

Maybe this sounds strange for a introduction of my first MD ever but as i´m a follower of Epicur´s thoughts i will show a very personal fantasy, my dream of a land where i would want to live if i would have a chance to do so.

You can find Waldey in every good atlas, it´s an island in the middle of the wide Simlish Ocean, not big, but big enough for a lazy guy like me and mostly rural cause i love nature and places where i can look around without viewing any buildings (anthills/towns are okay though as i love ants  :D).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg201.imageshack.us%2Fimg201%2F1457%2Finsel.jpg&hash=188fdd9e455f4b0358996a8aaf6819acb519940f)

From childhood on i´ve planned many fictional towns, islands and railways using pen and paper but after discovering SimCity and custom content in 2009 this "game" fastly became an alternative for that. I never played it, from beginning on i only wanted what i did before but i had to learn first how this program works. This was not easy and it is not as i now only know a few little things: i´m a real beginner. But i will learn as long as i need to realize the pictures in my mind with this program.

To start my MD here is my way to say thankyou as i´m no BAT artist or modding specialist like the people whose work i use for my stuff. But maybe some of my ideas are worth to be shared, and also there are some comrades they helped me all the time and i think they have the right to see what they support.

Credits go out to drunkapple for one of his perfect his (a little bit changed) maps, Jersey, credits go out to Xannepan, Kwakelaar, Haarlemmergold as i mainly use there framework BATs, also to all the BATters and modders from the NAM-team, SFBT, TSC, BSC and especially to the VIP-Team for their revolution of the game last year and a lot of independent artists whose work i found on SCPolska, Capital Simcity, SimCity Brazil, ST and SC4D. Sorry, you are too many people to list everyone here.

Special thanks to my mates Theresa, Framly, Knapp and Dantes, to marsh, Yann and ionionion for intriguing me into this game, Cédric/Badsim for his tutorials and opening my eyes, rivit for changing his rolling stock for my purposes and last but not least to the community of the simforum.

I hope i didn´t forget anyone...

Great start my friend! I guess there's absolutely no reason to apologize for those great views! But where's the construction site you mentioned ;)?

I love the scans from your personal little maps. I also have those although mine are far less detailed =)

Looking forward to more!

Theresa

This is amazing  :o  It's hard to believe this is your first MD entry. The wonderful rails, perfect selection of (mostly timber-framed) bats, excellent use of MMPs, and charming stone streets and sidewalks. The best thing of all is how seamlessly it flows together, more like a picture than the product of a "game". Calling this a "construction site" is a bit unfair  ::)  After all, the idea for all of us is to be constructing something in our cities, though this would appear much more like a completed scene. Your graph-paper planning has paid off and this MD promises to be worth coming back to again and again.

Welcome to MDing and I can't wait to see more!

Carl, beautiful, intensely detailed stuff.  That looks like about three months worth of work.

We are privileged that you would share it with us.

I am impressed. It is always good to see a new MD these days. But your start is really outstanding. I admire your attenton to detail.
Ok, there are a few unfinished spots in some of the pictures but I don't care. I find Mds showing how things develop and take shape very interesting.

Carl,
  very nice work indeed - its clear you have spent a good deal of time and effort thinking this one out - everything matches and joins quite well given the many styles and pieces you've used. I really like the overall effect a lot.

Personally, its very rewarding to see how you've mde use of the railway wagons - brewery especially good. My personal favourite though, has to be the guy stuck under his bonnet trying to fix his red wagon...

   cheers Ron

Hi carl,

this is a great old town. It doesn't look like a construction site, it's a living town where I would like to be. Even I regret, that You don't want to post it at simforum, I'll follow Your work closely. Go on like this  :thumbsup:

wow, a MD by eufl opps... carlfatal  ;D!. I was wondering if you someday will star a MD here, because I like your pictures in "Show as.." section and your comments are always interesting. And here it is. :)
Nice introduction and great stuff in your start. I like the railyards, the textures and sidewalk, and the cementery.
Great work! &apls

Hi Carl  :) ,
finally, you start with your MD. :satisfied:  Your preliminary work is very well thought out and gives a fascinating insight into your development work.  :thumbsup:
At the very first picture I've been shocked by the attention to detail.  :o With so much noise I did not expect. Your half-timbered buildings are a completely new standard for this topic.  &apls  &apls  &apls
Your station and the railway environment are impressive and beautiful. I am still missing a little more traffic, but your city radiates a lot of liveliness. Picture 1.21  with the little walkway to the cemetery I really love.

Keep it up!  :thumbsup:

Hello, Carl!

As I already told you, this station is really really nice. In fact it's one of the most realistic I have ever seen on SC4D. The old town surrounding it is also well done.

Hello again,

here i´m back with my first update, but first i want to thank you all.

REPLIES:

@rambuckel,
thank You! When i created a lot of little MMP-scenes while i was making the pictures i did not remember this last sentence. I forgot to change this - and then it was too late.  &mmm

@noahclem,
thank You! I´m very pleased hear this. As i said it was an accident. And yes, i´ve made my own texture and sidewalkreplacement as i was searching some stuff matching with the wonderful SAM paved streets. And planning in this way i think is much more efficient as i don´t have to bulldoze all the time.  ;)

@David, dedgren,
a big thank You! But i think i´m privileged to show my MD here. And yes, real railways were the stuff i missed in the game. I don´t know, how long i needed to create this station but it was a big project as always when i fixed one problem the next came up. But now i´m waiting for the TTR and STR FARR.  :thumbsup: Then i hope to build real pathed stations as this one here is a tweaked lot with invisible lots underneath.  ;D

@RickD,
thank You too, i hoper to please You with the next pictures again.  :)

@Jim/jmyers
Also a big thank You! As You can see i use Your new proppack 2 in the update, downloaded it yesterday - wonderful props and buildings!  :thumbsup:

@Battlecat,
thank You, i hope You will enjoy this update too!

@Framly,
thanks a lot. Now You see why i needed all this time for, and no i surely do not...  ()stsfd()

@MR:Y/KBS386,
thank You, and no: i never was bored, not for a minute...  :P

@Ron/rivit,
Thank You for Your kind words, - oh my...  :(
I knew i would forget someone...  And it´s a shame, cause i forgot to give credits to just Your team and one of the most important teams to me as i use so many BATs and props of the great wmp-team. Late but hopefully not too late a big thank You to all of You!  &apls

@FrankU,
thank You, especially for Your help when i did my first try to mod farms and fields.  &apls

@knapp/Der Gammler,
thanks a lot, my last boss sometimes stood behind me looking over my shoulder an commentedmy doing: "du bist so ein Spießer, so ein richtiger Spießer - du und deine Fachwerkhäuser..."
And i will show pictures in the SImForum too, i´ve changed my mind...  :)

@Robin/rooker1,
thanks a lot, a long time i´ve visited MD´s like Yours to look and learn. And yes, i love the Lot Editor, it´s my most important "game" although there are so much really good MMP´s.

@Kergelen,
thanks, eufl isn´t no more, now it´s the grim tomcat with the melonhat named Carlfatal...   ;D
eufl is the name of one of my two cats, short and easy, but not really a good nick. Carl is my name, sounds better indeed. My comment today: This time i will show again a not sunken church, as it were a well deserved destiny though.  :D

@Dantes,
thanks to You, i didn´t plan to be so loud...

@Arthur/art128,
Thank You, i hope to be well known as a virtual trainspotter. Three new shots of trains...
and a spurline to the brewery....

@apeguy,
thank You, hope to please You again!

@Thomas/solsystem,
Thank You, and how i´ve written to knapp: idefinetively will open a thread in SimForum. Need a little bit time for, but it will come.  :)

@Ioan/io-bg,
thanks to You, Your Region Of Pirgos has always been an inspiration to me. In this update You can see, how much. Now the brewery looks a lot better i think...  ;)

@Silur,
thank You too, i hope You enjoy the next train pictures...

@kelis,
thank You, more stuff is on the way...

Okay, let´s begin.
I didn´t told a word about the history of Kirchberg. The name is based on the fact that there exists a cloister on one of the highest points of complete Waldey. Direkt behind the old Benedictine Abbey the terrain falls down to the Simlish Ocean, a rough stony cost with only a few creeks. Here historians found the remains of the old shipwrecks and some bones and weapons.

The legend tells, that the monks, alarmed from the approaching ships, opened their cellars and rolled all barrels filled with the darkest beer you can think of downhill to the seashore. The vikings landed and were not too curious about that,- they thought it would be some kind of magical island. So the first ting they did was starting a big party and drink till they sunk down...
This was the moment, the monks and their helpers,more than hundred farmers and workers assaulted the drunken sleeping vikings and killed them all.
This happened in the year 992, and from this moment on the beer became always the most famous on Waldey and then in the whole Simlish world: the Yuengling Beer, named after a young man who killed the most vikings.
This Yuengling was a really dumb one, a bar bender, not really fast but very brutal. So he found some guys to follow him. As he was a child they all called him Carl the idiot, but then, after he killed more then fifty of the northmen (predominantly hard wounded men he found already dying) his name changed to Carl The Fatal.  :D

As he learned not only to use his muscles as an really persuasive argument he began his rise to the top of the island-aristocracy. He helped the monks plundering the farmers and so the clergy became a mighty institution during the whole middle ages. After ten years fighting against everyone opposing his wonderful ideas of pressure and exploitation he became the first king of Waldey.

To make along story short: In Europe the clergy and the aristocracy were pleased by this ideas, so they began to disappropriate the former community land. Now all the farmers had to give a tenth of their work to the cloister or the man who owned their house and land. For this they hired tough guys as tax collectors and authorized them to build mills and mayor houses (german: Meierei) for their purposes.
During the middle ages farmers protested against this, tried to destroy new built mills and mayor houses but they lost the fight.
So the aristocracy and the clergy became more and more mighty. This changed nearly five hundred years later caused by the rise of the citizens of big market towns after the reformation and the schism of the Roman Catholic Church.
This are the political backgrounds for buildings like the abbey or the "Meierei" i will show today.

But palavered enough, as now it´s time for some pictures:

Hi Carl,

Excellent update you've got there, I've enjoyed both the Abbey and the town shots. The destroyed wall around the city is a good idea, and very well made using Roulback's walls and Orange's walls.

Though, there's one thing I'm not quite sure if it is good, funny or scary... I'm talking about the steel fences that closes the brewery where the railways enter in it... I assume it is to maintain the security of the site, but are you sure it is need to put them directly on the tracks?

Keep up the good work,

-Arthur. :)

Hi Arthur,
thank You!
I´m answering directly, before someone asks the same: There are no working gates for this situation, i´ve tried to simulate the gates with diagonal fences. Looks much better in my opinion than open areas to the company.

Wow, I guess I'm too tired to realize all of the little details right now. Your pictures are amazingly detailed. And I like that focus on "train stuff". I've never had a closer look on all those pretty props for trains and tracks and stations. I guess it's a pretty good idea to come back as soon as possible :)

Beautiful work.  I especially like the abbey and the backyards.  The urban/rural transitions and the semi-ruined wall are also great.

Typically I avoid sharpening effects, they don't ever seem to correct a "soft" picture in any way that improves upon the original, but that's just my personal habit.  If I need to sharpen a picture, there's usually some combo of contrast editing and edge-finding or some other effect that can get the job done without the noise that accompanies sharpening tools.

Amazing update Carl the Fatal  :D  The monastary is perhaps my favorite part but I also love the brewery, the nature scenes and the great old wall-to-wall areas.

Could you tell me what the corner building in picture 2.12 is? It looks really nice and I'm always short on good corner buildings  &mmm

I'll look forward to the next update and save one of those super-dark beers for me!

... i love ants  :D).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg819.imageshack.us%2Fimg819%2F1941%2Fformicarufa.jpg&hash=02da16567e896111a5eb634b24cdb4025c7427c7)

Really , Carl ?

That statement speaks particularly to me  ... Just by curiosity : did you read Bernard Werber ?  I've been a child  captivated  by raising ants ( red wood ants - Formica Rufa and slavemaker ants  -  Polyergus Rufescens ) in a corner of my parents garden ( then , later , in fish tanks in my bedroom  ...  ) . Yep , I've been an odd child !  :D $%Grinno$%

I won't expand here how it has been fascinating to study absolute social devotion when you feel yourself like a stranger to the world , that part is my private childhood story , but it also taught me to be patient and observant , with an  intuitive perception about how our own social organization works ...  I do not raise ants anymore  , but , at least , that strange behavior has been influential for my life and even my way to play Simcity . In French , we have that usual expression : « To do something with an entomologist precision » ...

... and a dash of love , not to forget . Because , definitively , we're  not ants (That's not debatable  :P ).

So you're an Epicurus' admirer and Waldey is the name of your digital anthill (  Sim-hill ... itude , that pun works in english only  ) ... Since your evocation 3 months ( or so ) ago , of a MD to come , I was awaiting it with curiosity and impatience . I'm following your posts here and at Simforum and what I feel of you through your words and posts  nourishes a deep sympathy . ;)

No more precise review for my first ( and strange , I admit it  ;D ) comment : welcome to MDing , Carl , we're many SC4 gardeners to expect great things from you and looking at these first sets of pictures of your own secret garden confirms that we're perfectly right to . ( If , in anyway , I've contributed to your volition to take the plunge  , let me add that I'm of course proud of it .)

A Sophocles' admirer ...

Cédric.

Hello, i´m back for a short update,
but first - replies...

@art128,
thanks!

@rambuckel,
thank You,Theresa! There´s a lot of rarely used train stuff out there. I will show a lot more of this in the future...

@solsystem,
thank You! These scenes in the backyards are the stuff i like cause it´s the normal life - nothing special...  :)

@Ol.S / Benoit,
thank You too! These nice boats are made by nexis/mrbisonm.  &apls

@Swordmaster,
thanks! It´s the reason to do this: my place for a good life.  ;)

@whatevermind,
thank You! This time i did no changes to the pics, it´s better.

@clemenclm2001,
thanks!

@Kergelen,
thank You, there will come more of this, but for today only a little bit of nature. Hope You like it!  ;)

@Flatron,
thank You! The sidewalkmod is my own, if someone needs it i will share it.  :)

@RickD,
Thanks Raphael! I want the portrait as realistic as possible. So i have to go in these details some time.

@noahclem,
thank You! The beer is ready for You, cold and dark as You wanted it. Take it in the brewery direct and leave the town eastwards to the little creek in the upcoming pictures. It´s a good place for drinking and sitting lazy in the green as Carl the Fatal isn´t as cruel as in his early days. Nobody has to die after drinking (if he/she don´t drink too much...).  :D

@Dantes,
thank You, and i hope You´re feeling better again!  ;)

@Connor,
thanks!  :)

@kelis,
thanks Jonathan! The abbey was a real fight, so i´m happy You like it!

@nas-t,
thank You!  :)

@bat,
thank You too! So i hope to see ya again.

@nbvc,
thanks! And thanks for a lot of little thing i use You´ve made!  :)

@Badsim,
Thank You, Cédric, for the warm welcome and this wonderful portrait of a so underestimated creature!
Waldey is a real small anthill, but a fascinating project as i want to build everything as realistic as i can. So it is really big enough for me lazy guy. And Epicurean as i want to show my dream of a world it´s worth to live in - calm, friendly, peaceful...
This is what i hope to convey - we have much to much war but not here in Waldey. Everyone is welcome in my little land an should have a good time here.

And so i have to thank every one else who clicked in here and looked at my pictures. But You´re all invited to say a word or two. I try to be friendly although my name is the same as the name of this ancient warlord and subsequent king.  :D

So for today i only show a few pics of nature. Knapps water is out since months and i´ve tested it earlier. Now i did only a little creek with it, nothing spectacular, but i like the result. One picture shows a heron in the reed, on another You can see some wild pigs made by rambuckel. But that´s it, calm little scenes without any human presence. Hope You like it!

Post by: carlfatal on June 24, 2012, 06:45:03 PM
Hi Devoties,
i wasn´t active for a while but now i´m back with a few new pictures. The reason for this is simple: now i have the buildings i needed to do the next step, and the person who saved my little island is: DaveN.  &apls &apls &apls
So first i want to say a big, big thank You, Dave. :) These houses are somewhat like a dream, wonderful, perfect BATs to build little old villages as You can find them in Germany or Poland.
Second i have to apologize for the delay as i´ve been playing with these houses more than three weeks - but i´m a real slow builder. I have to admit: i´m not really good in compromises, if i have something in my mind there is no way to do it different.   (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cosgan.de%2Fimages%2Fsmilie%2Fkonfus%2Fa080.gif&hash=02d619a0cfe9a7287d93b99e291c6aabc7f76589) (http://www.cosgan.de/smilie.php)
And third: it´s not finished yet, You will see a few lots detailed but the most parts of the village are working places. If i begin to move houses on lots there is no end. I know there is a point of perfection i never can reach but i´m not able to accept this issue. So i try and try without reaching the point of success.  &mmm
But i can show You a few pictures of the first village i was able to build, as this set of houses is not only nice - it is diagonal too!  :thumbsup:
So i had the chance to break the grid the first time, and yes, i´m happy with the result. I´ve rescaled a lot of BATs to match together, played around with "fake lots" till i found a way to build this village like it existed as a picture in my mind. Now i have constant battles with my industries around the local train station. To begin with diagonals is an addictive new experience - and it shouldn´t end: now i´m searching for matching industrial buildings. Don´t laugh - i know, i´m crazy.  $%Grinno$%
What You will see here is only a part of the center around the church, nothing is finished but i did the most detailing on the inner lots. The only thing that works is my new cobblestone sidewalk mod, as the old one wasn´t that good with diagonals. But as You can see, i´ve made the pictures in the pause mode, the modding isn´t done yet, so this "update" is much more a teaser. Also the pictures are not the best quality - i had to make them on my netbook. A full update with better pictures will follow in the next days.  ;)
Oh - thanks for all Your nice comments but replies will come with the next real update, sorry but i´m tired now, here it is half past three in the morning.  &ops

So here is the church:

Great to see an update here! You've really done a great job working with all the diagonals and the lotting is superb. The rest of the details are just what I would expect from Waldey and I can't wait to see what's next  &apls &apls

carlfatal: Wow. You do a great jobs with my buildings... I think that I can upload on the LEX now, but I don't have a time at this moment. And I also wait for hole update... I'm really interesting what you do with my timber-frame house set. I hope that now you have a lot more creativity and updates will show up more often. I wish you continued success.

RickD: And thank you very much ... already in the process is created for the second set of buildings of this type :) (I allowed myself a small response.)

nas-t: Do not miss anything. Set building is my own, of which Carl asked me, I released him to set. Because I do not have too much time lately I have some delays. Coming soon will be prop pack in these buildings. (I allowed myself a small response.)

Hello to all,
the next update is here, i hope You´ll like it.
But first Replies:
@nbvc,
thanks!

@Kergelen,
thank You!

@noahclem,
thanks, and yes, Knapp´s water is brilliant, especially if You use it for little creeks or so, although i use JRJ water and some other textures too.

@rambuckel,
thanks mate!

@kbieniu7,
thanks my friend, and yes i wasn´t creative. I missed the houses till Dave made them.

@apeguy,
thanks, hope You like the first village too.

@rooker1,
thank You Robin, and yes, as fine as they are - now they look a little bit outdated. Crazy!
I hope Master Girafe will think about these nice trees and give them a home in SimCity4 some time. These willows and the cutted ones were been common around little creeks and lakes.

@bat,
thanks!

@DaveN,
thanks, thanks again for the houses, my fun to build things in the LE is back, visible back...

@Framly,
thanks for Your comments, mate!

@kelis,
thank You too, hope You´ll like the new update too!

@RickD,
thank You!

@nas-t,
thanks, and Dave answered meantime, so have fun with the next pictures. And if You like islands: here is one, not as small as Yours, cause i need railway everywhere, but i hope You´ll enjoy the next few pictures.

@Framly (2),
Thanks again, and yes, these texture is nice!

@noahclem (2),
thank You again also, a few pictures will come today.

@Kerg(u)elen (2),
thank You too again, i´ve read this Kerguelen-thing, and so i hope You love islands.

@DaveN (2),
thanks again, and i hope You´ll enjoy the new pictures.

THIS Update is a short one, only seven pictures. "UUH", i can hear You crying, that´s not fair. In fact, it isn´t but i need more time than expected. And more money...  $%Grinno$%
Luckily i can change the plans, i mean, as long as my sims pay for my silly ideas i can...  :D
I said i would talk about my lots. And cause the village is on a good way i can show some progress that explains, what i mean, if i say "expanded lots". It´s something i discovered in AntigOne, thanks to Badsim again for this. Best is: it works in every constellation, growing lots expanded from 2x2 to 4x2, everything is possible.  :)

On the other side of the railway station i wanted to build the main street again diagonal. Perfect situation to bring in a diagonal crossing with houses around, some industry, workers houses.  $%Grinno$%
First part was a lot only for the railwaystation, the tracks and how the textures have to look.
Then i´ve made two park-lots, 1x1 and stored a copy of them outside the game (Folder 1)
The copies in the plugins became the east- and west- section of the station, big enough for the planned things (10x5 and 17x6). Laying the textures of the rail tracks is the first and then the puzzle can begin. I needed more than 40 hours to build these two lots, a neverending game in the LE itself, my most beloved toy of all times.  ???
So here are two pictures, older ones - the white building was too big for that place - it had to go. You can see, where the lots will lay one over the other ingame.
4.1:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F5ebf5d1060b23086fe48a5bec0b654c5.jpg&hash=dfcfa997eca526f0867abef7043182536a0587bd) (http://"http://www.ld-host.de/")

4.2:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F0299dfa8eb95e89528291de894316ecd.jpg&hash=5efb677a3fb9ab649cd616d8de66b647b1f6496b) (http://"http://www.ld-host.de/")

After finishing these lots, the lotfiles were parked outside the game (Folder 2). Back into the game i copy the ones from Folder 1 now.
As all the tweaked lots are park lots i needed some R§ and industry and CS§ for Hochfelden. Again i´ve made 1x1 lots, erased the base texture and overworked them in the SCTool (industry is LM with jobs, the church is LM with CS§ and §§ jobs).
Then i can start the game and plant and let grow.
4.3:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F234044c2870bfadf1bca8a89cce7b1ae.jpg&hash=0a9b247b85c25b34d98d38f8d902d8ef31afdd6e) (http://www.ld-host.de/)

And a few lots in Hochfeld, the big ones You can see in the next picture are normal growing R§.
After saving and changing the games details to low i end the game. You can can se how odd it looks without details, but no problem, in the next step i copy AND paste the lots from Folder 2 into the plugins, and voila:
4.4:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F071aae589a021d67ece234eaced57e85.jpg&hash=57e258bbbe0903689932f11a69ad5a932111145b) (http://www.ld-host.de/)

The textures of the tweaked lots: cool. Now i change the detail to high again, save and end. If i start now again it should look like this - luckily it did:
4.5:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F72a7a15b1da2442c72a1e1f72574a7a3.jpg&hash=a0d43a606c31ca89394bfdec69921353abd7d348) (http://www.ld-host.de/)

Okay, there are grown unfinished lots, some texture issues, some props at the wrong place but this is my first try to look ingame how they look together. And i see, there is a lot to do, before i can build the village again (ingame only). But You can see how it works, - it´s completely easy, no need for big TE-lots, my stations, bus stops - everything is invisible 1x1 or 1x2.
Also i have to build Kirchberg again, with the new cobblestone sidewalk the town looks odd. It´s a good step to begin again with villages, as my farmers aren´t willing to work on farms anymore, they now want big dirty industries.  $%Grinno$%
And i want to relot all ALN-paths with invisible basetextures. So i have to destroy and rebuild the most of the lots (ingame only).
But first i will show two pictures, how it looks now. This situation is special: some water pipe was broken and they needed the whole day for repairing.
4.6:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F516f8457ea2a3b8b40563f732823d1b4.jpg&hash=a30716813212cade9588bc60e13e31e9e6b6c5e8) (http://www.ld-host.de/)

4.7:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fcb45fd2703a04be4264d036d78e9b7a3.jpg&hash=d29a03d4834027120eef3c57e4ad9773e74be2d2) (http://www.ld-host.de/)

That´s all for today, You know, i´m slow but the next update will come. Only finishing four lots and then i can begin to build behind the industiral area to the south. Also i want to try the Appalachian terrain again, but i will not begin with seasonal stuff. I like summer, - could stay all time warm and nice in my little dream.
Greetz, Carl

I'm surprised I haven't made it in here yet. Very nice work so far Carl, both the technical of the game, and the artistic in the way it's presented. Your station lots are very impressive; rarely do I see such a rail yard like that in the game. Are they functional in terms of traffic flow and all? Also, on a bit of a personal note, that building on the south end of your station lot in 4.1 (also the same one in 1.6), any thoughts or opinions you have on it? I've not made many things for the game yet, so there's always that little buzz when I see them used, and also the question of "How well does it really work?".

Thank You for pointing me to this, it's really quite cool. At first, I was curious how you got the residential lots to appear on angles, but now I see it on this page.

You are right, big industry would never work well here, but the RAM and Siding textures look pretty good with one caveat; the dusty brown rail textures don't seem to merge well with the cleaner looking RAM overlay textures. Perhaps I should look for the original Paint Shop files and see if I can do something about it(no guarantees though).

Sorry for no posting, but real life gave exams :D
I admire your work in LE. Such details, like road works and backyards, are stunnig, you do it great. Especially rails. Lotting stations and railyards gives more reality to them. Once I tried it, but I spotted, that I'm not good in playing with LE so much.  ;)

Hi there,
i´m late but there is a reason for this...  &mmm

Replies:
@RickD,
Hi Raphael, thanks for Your comment. The longest part of building my lots is to puzzle all the buildings together in a way it looks believable. After this and all the textures are found it´s easy to build. I need no bulldozer or something.

@nas-t,
thanks, and yes, the overpass was missing as the lot wasn´t finished on the picture. It was the first try to look if everything would be quite cool. Now i changed it, but in an old fashioned way.

@kelis,
thanks a lot, i´ve tried my best. The selection is easy in a way since i have Daves BATs.

@jmyers2043,
Hi Jim and thanks for the comment. As You can see there are a lots of Your BATs in the pictures, some of Your buildings are very useful for European settings too, and the little stuff is good for a lot of scenes...

@art128,
Hi Arthur, thanks and yes: the stations should look as realistic as possible, so i use NCDs textures pack 2, a little forgotten jewel. There aren´t enough textures for every situation but they look very nice although.

@threestooges,
Hi Matt and welcome,
thanks for the nice comment, and also thanks for the nice BATs You´ve made and i use. The (we say:) Landwirtschaftsgenossenschaftslagerhaus is some really good looking one in a European neighborhood, the only SC4-building of this size and a really nice BAT, so i will use it very often, The same i have to say about the 3RR-poles along the railway. I use them as electrical poles and i´ve made props from them to use them on lots as You can see on the station lot. There are a lot of poles out to download but i prefer the old fashioned ones here as nothing else matches the scenery as well as these.

@north country dude,
thanks for Your visit and the nice comment,
I really like to build with YOur second textures set, it looks so awesome realistic. And yes, the overlays and the basetextures look a little bit different but it is the best stuff i´ve ever found. So i would appreciate more of this but this is no need for me, i like it as it is too.

@Framly,
thanks, my friend! And Yes: patience is needed...

@kbieniu7,
thank You, and hey, there is no need to apologize. RL is much more important than anything else!

@noahclem,
thanks!

@rooker,
thanks for the OSITM, thanks for te nice comment.

@Vortext,
thank You too!

@Dantes,
thanks, my friend. It´s the SFBW scene with shadows...

@kbieniu7 (2),
thanks my friend, but everything is crashed now. I have to look why it doesn´t work anymore.

@noahclem (2),
a second thank You! But the only thing i can say now is: i hope i don´t have lost everything here...

@weixc812,
thank You!

@DaveN,
thank You too. I hope everybody could see the beauty of Your BATs in this village.

First a big thank You to the staff to choose my little MD for the OSITM. I wanted to show pictures but the last two weeks there was no "playing" SimCity anymore. On my big mashine i have this graphical issues as i said in my last update, base textures disappear and lots don´t want to show up. It´s a win7 system, and i have really no clue what happened here.
I´ve tried to solve this first, as only on this machine i can make pictures. But it did not work, everything i´ve tried made it more worse, now the textures of Kirchberg are invisible too.  ()sad()
So i´ve tried to do the next steps on my netbook but here my game doesn´t work anymore. Everytime i try to start the tile of the region i´m working on, it ends with a CTD. Strange: it works in a region i have only for trying new lots (so it is not an issue produced by my work), and it works in a region where i play a serious SimCity game. But not in Waldey...  :angrymore:
So now i only can say sorry - not one new picture, only a handful of bigger problems i don´t understand. I´m working on it, i hope i can solve it but i´m not sure how long i need for this.
Please don´t comment a real nothing, i will try to show an update as early as possible. Till then i wish You all the best.
Greetz, Carl
