Title: Show Us Your Best PhotoShopping
Post by: dedgren on October 18, 2007, 09:30:53 AM
I thought, with all the P-Shopping Gods and Goddesses who call SC4D home, that folks might enjoy a few "before and after" pics of images they've, er... adjusted with their graphics program.

I'll kick things off with this, created in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 in about an hour.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg98.imageshack.us%2Fimg98%2F5317%2Flicenseplate3rr75percenjl0.png&hash=bb3782c1d6a7c9133fd2fa7d5d78267eb9b074b6)

Here's the original.

Let's see what you've got!

I spend a lot of time colour correcting and "restoring" images that suffer from underexposure, incorrect white balance and other anomalies and hopefully make them into usable images.  Only example I have to hand is a shot from  Deadwoods that I used to demonstrate what Photoshop is capable of when it comes to fixing images.

Before:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg373.imageshack.us%2Fimg373%2F3480%2Ffalls005aka4.jpg&hash=807163bbea4f22c752d2fbd676391a4269d7a78b)

After:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi95.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fl151%2Fcallagrafx%2Fdedwd2.jpg&hash=f614fedf35e1ad49c50d20eb39b1982f2b589dc5)

There was nothing could be done to "sharpen" the water, as I suspect the blurred effect was exactly what Deadwoods was after.

That's a beautiful, emotional image and a very good use of PS layers.

Sorry David, in my excitement about my pet subject I forgot to comment on your plates.  Overall the image is a nice take on the plate, but you may wish to delete the cyan that is poking through the screw holes   Otherwise, nicely done.

Well, this is probably not my "best photoshopping", but since some of you already posted a "before - after" shot, I'll ad my own. It's the "Uniriese", the largest highrise in Leipzig, Germany. I visited the city a few weeks ago for the Games Convetion, and also met a friend who I know from a German Simpsons forum. As usual, the sightseeing pics are always ruined by some stuff that shouldn't be on the pic, but thanks to modern image manipulation, it's a piece of cake to fix that. :)

Heblem- that's a beautiful and evocative composition.  Bravo!

Andreas- now the trick would have been to remove the building and leave the crane against the sky...

This is fun!

The water looks a lot like snow in that shot.

Nice photoshopping everyone.  I'll post some of my own when I get the chance.

Ahh...well, the best "Photoshopping" I've done is either done on SC4 pictures or for signatures.  Not only are they not that elaborate, but it wasn't done with Photoshop at all, it was done with The GIMP.  But maybe I'll show 'em anyways:

I think this would be the best example I have of Photoshopping an SC4 Picture:(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb99%2FJetWarrior%2FSimCity%25204%2520Pics%2FGreetingsfromParadisefinal1.jpg&hash=1fa1ca7da7b5a5601e11be23e8c03746aff3a083)

The water was actually SC4 water before I edited it (I mean, I didn't find some other water and put it in).  It took me a while to get this right, but the longest part was actually cutting out those buildings so that they wouldn't get blurred with the rest of the picture.  All in all, the end doesn't justify the means, and the means were probably much complicated then they had to be.

My current MySpace background:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb99%2FJetWarrior%2FMySpace%2FPurpleHaze-2.jpg&hash=9cb980284d2d760bba435c4664ba82949f65061d)

LOL...I didn't do the entire picture.  I just (badly) edited myself in and added the glare.  I don't even know why I'm showing this.

Some signatures:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb99%2FJetWarrior%2FFinalSignature.gif&hash=c40695128b48dad94a82eb703427f932dd2d9505)
That's a font I downloaded, and I found the pencil and wand on Google.  Probably could've come out better if I'd've spent more time on it.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb99%2FJetWarrior%2FOther%2520Pictures%2FSignature4.jpg&hash=e9e335b2f330dfc41750c0d866d459ef8d88c23e)
Followed a tutorial to make this one...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb99%2FJetWarrior%2FOther%2520Pictures%2FSignature9.jpg&hash=8443897bca8a3cbc9875f11f99e192eb0532088d)
Discovered this text effect by experimenting.  Made the background with a downloaded brush (it took three clicks of the mouse with that brush to make it, then just had to color it how I wanted).

That's about the greatest I've ever done with photo manipulation.  Thanks for reading, and please note that the past seven minutes of your life are non-refundable.

Best edited pic? no clue here, il just show a fairly recent one, as i do use photoshop on a daily basis. Ive edited more or less every image in my CJ, mostly using the awsome cloning tool.

Original Picture, take not to the small size, ditherd edges(due to compression) and stars.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg139.imageshack.us%2Fimg139%2F2852%2Fkanon20iv0su6.jpg&hash=240355000ac92761a4a82fca30cd56cd527e9af2)

I made a total of 6 variations, so il just show my favorate three, one of which i use as a desktop atm, im gonna replace it once i finish vectoring a image from Macross.

White Background, Blurry. wasnt happy with the stars not showing, so i decided i wanted it on a black background, which ofc puts strain on the edges. which are optimised for white background.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg503.imageshack.us%2Fimg503%2F4602%2Fsayurinmai0vx3.jpg&hash=e7348530ae24448008e1b8ba0bc423849eba5264) (http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/4602/sayurinmai0vx3.jpg)
One of the Black Background images, lighting effects.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg139.imageshack.us%2Fimg139%2F9118%2Fsayurinmai5mk4.jpg&hash=8128cfc1ebb5ccdb281df86439090d3890c9265b) (http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/9118/sayurinmai5mk4.jpg)
And finialy the one i decided to use as my desktop image.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg222.imageshack.us%2Fimg222%2F1782%2Fsayurinmai1fw1.jpg&hash=e33a7d47d5e51f9a64385df5ad12ee30ed997d41) (http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1782/sayurinmai1fw1.jpg)

And yeh, its Sayuri & Mai from Kannon for those that want to know :)

MOD EDIT: Changed the size of the pics so that they don't break the page margins, and linked to the larger versions - Fred

To everyone who's posted:

Great work! I've never spent a lot of time getting any good at photoshopping, although this may inspire me...

To David,

Why'd you have to use the Sons of Confederate Veterans tag from Alabama? I was in high school there when it was released and it caused a huge uproar. The South needs all the help it can get... ;)

A little late, but i made a hmm, best call it fanart this monday because i was boored and didnt want to study.

uploaded it to deviantArt, check it out here (Link) (http://xiziz.deviantart.com/art/Macross-Hayase-Misa-68065498).

I do need some more practice, but atleast im getting decent results when coloring now, still need to learn how to do proper -instyle backgrounds. this one was made just using the techniqe id use to make textures for BAT.

Khiyana- amazingly professional-looking.  I'd love to know your technique for doing the water droplets.  Mine, when I've tried, always look pretty dull and lifeless.  Bravo!

Owen (Yoman)- Whoa!  That must be a fairly sizable cabinet.  We actually have a small liquor store just around the corner- I tell folks I keep mine over there and fetch it a bottle at a time.

It may be seen as good PSing, or just bad taste. I'm morally gray on this one. As of now, that's my PS cache. Thank you. *bows to the audience*

Love the first one, not so sure about the second. :P

Nice job, though. I'll have more PSing on the way, I suppose.

I thought I'd revive this. A friend and I were doing all these (crappy) disaster scenarios, and his city was Hong Kong. So, he wants, like, a volcanic eruption to happen in the IFC tower. He wanted me to put it here.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg514.imageshack.us%2Fimg514%2F7943%2Fhongkong2mz8.jpg&hash=e9033cbf84b66ee00cc63e4211d55d1cd9885fac)

Just wondering, but has anyone ever been to Worth1000.com? That place is awesome!!! Say, SA, when might you follow up on your previous post?  ;D

Well I found a whole lot of GIMP tutorials last night and decided to try them out
Heres some pictures I created from two tutorials
The first tutorial just shows you how to turn a picture into a sketch
The first one is a sketch of Rihanna, I got the picture from a tutorial and IMHO looks the best
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Frihanna_template.jpg&hash=f819ab847cff795882699058e8d92dd7394d79ea)
The second picture is of Jessica Alba which IMO doesnt look as good as the Rihanna one
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Fjessica-alba-shetch-02.jpg&hash=9455c7d8cafa2677eb8825ab325a7dacf4972be5)
And the last sketch is of some mountains in Wyoming which IMO looks the worst out of my sketches
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Fwyoming-rocky-mountainssketch.jpg&hash=5dd220d818e7c964797aded8e838ecfda2a3ad97)

The second tutorial shows you how to create "vexel simulation on photos"
This is the tutorial where I got the Rihanna picture from
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Frihanna_template-1.jpg&hash=7a485f2bb3eaf7ccc19315cdb09ac418086e5820)
And heres the Wyoming mountain picture
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Fwyoming-rocky-mountains.jpg&hash=96fecc158aceb5fd1138f26798044057aef97243)
Im not going to post the Jessica Alba picture because it looks really bad...

Also if anyone wants them I could find the link to the tutorials

Great PSing all. Now, I have one of my oldest works here. Keep in mind, this was the first image EVER I ran through PS and I really liked the results. Until I found out all this stuff to make it look, well, real.

Original picture:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg243.imageshack.us%2Fimg243%2F7495%2Fsacskylinesm5.jpg&hash=84dee8a14801824813c5a6bfa3e6901992f96107)

PSed picture:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg243.imageshack.us%2Fimg243%2F9872%2Fsaccitychristmashp4.jpg&hash=8d60f7076f34d37d9462f2b53ab00b52c670634c)

I feel okay with the results. I like how the windows actually lit themselves up through a custom filter. Plus, the Moon is hand drawn. Not my best work, but I like it.

If you add a bit of yellow to the filter, it'll look much more realistic. :P

It does have its own charm, and I quite like it. Heh.

Thanks. Keep in mind, that file's probably long gone and it's like, two years old. Anyways, here's my first try with what the greatest PhotoShoppers would call a Modern Ruin.

I'd actually really like some feedback and constructive criticism on this one. Not my best work (I've gotten much better now), but I was really inspired by these.

Hmmm Leo. I really like the buildings in the background, but Big Ben doesn't look as good. The First things I noticed were the pieces of 'rubble' on Big Ben. However, they look more like they were just shoved there, instead of actually falling out. Try overlapping the rubble with pieces of the old structuring, to make it feel more authentic. The structuring around the middle of Big Ben looks good, just that it's on the wrong angle to the rest of the building . . . try getting it to the right angling next time. And how I know this? I took the tutorial (and messed it up a bit, but it was my first try . . .  :P)

Big thx to you for the links Masochist! And yes, the pic looks even better now! (much better edges) Btw, lately I have been looking at the colouring of pictures taken from SC and I didn't make much progress. Would you happen to have some advice on that topic also?

No problem with the links !

Coloring?  What do you mean...to bring colors out or to actually colorize photos to give a certain mood?

If you mean bringing colors out...well, there are couple of things you could do, like adjusting the brightness/contrast of the picture or fiddling with the color curves as outlined in that tutorial...(I personally contrast the colors in every single SC4 photo I present ;)).

If you mean actually colorizing a photo...I wouldn't be the best person to ask for that.  I'd ask maybe cockatoo, he seems to really know how to create a perfect filter for an SC4 picture...

I meant bringing out the colours more sorry. The colours from the game always look a bit 'flat' if you know what I mean and I've seen pictures in the picture competition that look so sharp and alive. I will try the advice you gave and have a closer look at the tutorial (it was well after midnight for me when I posted my previous msg so I didnĀ“t check the links yet)

Thx!

All this PSing has driven me to start doing actual, not cruddy work. My first experiments have been mostly with masking, filters, and color altering along with getting to know the clone tool. Now, I'm working on lighting and creating custom shadows. Once again, I'd like to be (constructively) criticized. Oh, and I decided to use Big Ben again. I'm not quite sure what draws me to it . . . :P

iamgoingtoeatyou: What are those--backwards traffic lights?  With all the work you did (that looks pretty awesome btw $%Grinno$%) you couldn't have made any mistakes.  IT'S GREAT!!!  I'm kind of a heavy SC4-photoshopper as well; can you teach me that? :P
Title: Re: Show Us Your Best PhotoShopping
Post by: iamgoingtoeatyou on March 15, 2008, 07:00:49 PM
I'll see if I can get around to making a tutorial on how to make that, it's just very time consuming though. In a nutshell, I put regular Avenues on the spot where the one way lanes would go. I downloaded the mod that gets rid of the median junk so it would be easier to photoshop. I take the entire mosaic as normal, and then in a seperate document I would have a picture of 3 one way roads side by side, and I would copy and paste the one way lanes into the regular avenues making a series of lanes. Then I would do a similar process with the zebra crossings. It's kind of hard to explain. The backwards traffic lights are the biggest mistake that I forgot to fix :P Oh well, you're the only one who's pointed that out since I posted it a few months ago :D

While SC4D was down yesterday, I found a great tutorial online that shows you how to make fancy logos.
Heres a few logos I made...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Flogowithshadow.jpg&hash=886b8ab6ce16107393c200329205ae5b902da202)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Fbetterlogo.jpg&hash=54d78ae1f046d2b74e22a217be7f8805af6cec04)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi158.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft101%2Fcameronpapps%2Fgreenbetterlogo.jpg&hash=7b61b486eeda639b79fb67e8b7b12580999d07f9)
I should probably blur the edges of the green one as they look a bit choppy...
So anyway what do you think?

Here's some of my recent ones. These have all been in contests at Worth1000.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg369.imageshack.us%2Fimg369%2F9092%2F382452hnpmoe6.jpg&hash=4354366268f7ec337d520b7ecd09e5a925525efa)

I got a Jury's Pick for this one. ;D

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg135.imageshack.us%2Fimg135%2F3527%2F378996tacyuk3.jpg&hash=fbef082deef148057308e7f3793d4657d2b483e5)

Another Jury's Pick.

One of my favorites, to say the least. So simple, and yet so funny and pointless.

Most of those, except the last one, have been posted in the currently nonexistent thread at SimCities.com, so Pat you've seen most of them.

Also, the last image is the unedited, or 'before' image.
There is a way to find out what i'm going to do with it, too.

About the L-shaped blotch on my UFO picture on page 5 - The image was meant for a "How Well Do You Know Highways" thread, but I never got around to sending it to the perdon in charge of the thread, and I had edited it so that the signs were utterly and completely illegible.  The road sign that is closer to the camera used to be a black rectangle, but you can probably see what it says now... ;D

I have two more chops to show you all. Worked on them today, and a cookie to whoever can name which cities these are. :P

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg174.imageshack.us%2Fimg174%2F3475%2Fhoustondestructioncopyji7.jpg&hash=9e64ef997753b4e72affbd8b87ee899e0d12db66)

It took freaking FOREVER to make that steel frame! I spent hours cloning out the actual building and then putting beams in certain places. I'm especially proud of the vines hanging off of the bridge remains. ;D

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg505.imageshack.us%2Fimg505%2F8426%2Fdowntownruinsir6.jpg&hash=b1b62edab41909b6ba603c657105641237cb77a0)

I am just especially proud of how I ruined the building to the left. It took roughly two hours of mixing and matching pictures of debris and rubble to get that. I also like the vines here, but not as much as the first one. Enjoy dudes.

my first attempt at a scratch painting following a tutorial i found on deviant art... (yes i just realised the guy is missing a shadow, but the tutorial says if you notice something after, save it for your second attempt, which i will do at some stage) anyway im really chuffed with how the sky turned out and i know the ground needs alot of work.....

Sure, but I know photoshop slightly better than I know source HTML (which is to say i don't know it at all.)  It was easy in Photoshop, the hardest parts were the parts that would have had to be done in Photoshop anyway like the logo.

Here is an old graphic I did for a young actress at our theatre (Palace Theatre, Cape Charles, Virginia) some years ago. I took a shot of her clowning around in wardrobe and added a painter that was working on Mr Peanut at the Planters headquarters in Suffolk, Virginia. This was done in Corel Photopaint 12.

Titled "Paint Me Audry", I just always liked it.

Well, I see nobody's PhotoShopped anything lately...

...at least not in this thread, that is...

To get the ball rolling again, here's a pic as I recently altered it because I wanted a nice clean shot of a "crossbuck" railroad crossing sign.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg259.imageshack.us%2Fimg259%2F7484%2Frailroadcrossingsignhi0.jpg&hash=ce2cd5a3d578b0f639f865b81155a898e5a4e807)

Now, what did I change?  Looks pretty good, eh?

? ? ?

? ? ?

? ? ?

Stumped?

Take a look at the shadow.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg299.imageshack.us%2Fimg299%2F7499%2Frailroadcrossingsignyiegt8.jpg&hash=7f4ea8596dac08e513f0217c553e216e4c5af749)

If you ever suspect P-Shopping has been done to an outdoor daytime pic, problems with the shadows are often the deadest of givaways.

Here's the original, for comparison.

Note the rusty tracks. Commonly used tracks are shiny.

I play a game called Nationstates and have made a number of images for that. I did skins for the regions of Canada (http://z8.invisionfree.com/NationStates_Canada/) and England (http://z15.invisionfree.com/Democratic_England).

The best image is probably the Map of Canada (http://vershner.co.uk/ns/canada/map/mapofcanadanighttime.html). It goes through a night/day cycle and stuff lights up.
(It needs javascript enabled to work, and won't work properly in IE6 or lower because it uses transparent PNGs)

Here one a did a while ago for a story I wrote. I wanted a massive train with a snow-plough on the front, so I got a old train, stuck a plough on it, then made lots of little changes to make it look bigger.

its a collage made from over 40 images, i drew a rough guide freehand in photoshop first then set about finding pieces to fill in the area, then a final layer of freehand additions, trees, smoke, clouds (the sky is entirely freehand) smoke plumes etc. then the overall image was manpulated to look how i wanted it to. took about 6 hours to complete start to finish.

Here is a logo for our Paranormal group.  I made the logo about a year ago and then added my wife and I onto it sometime in July.  The photo of us is at a investigation we did of the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield Ohio.  I also posted this on the "show us your self...... thread here too.

Im back with 3 more logos I made in Photoshop.  I have PS7 on my desktop but it broke down right now.  I just got CS4 on my laptop and been playing around with it a lot.

Here are 3 similar logos I made for a local rap group.  I know most people dont like rap but I listen to everything.

This is my lame attempt at photoshopping Albany Hwy. In real life it is only one lane eachway :P

below: once a timber town, Glen Eagle is actually now ghost town after the 1960's fire. the real town site is actually to the left of the false homes.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi293.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fmm50%2Fbighead99999%2Falbanuhwyupgradej.jpg&hash=f8a531d1474a71964587dc556753a984918a6b27)

below: actually removed a double curve on the right. it now looks like a rest area.

Whoa, Jordan, Marsh- excellent work!  The disk, Jordan, is particularly nice.

* * *

You might get a kick out of Ryan's (Ryan B.) original pic:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nj.gov%2Foag%2Fhts%2Fimages%2Frailroad-images%2FRR-XING_Banner.jpg&hash=bb4ae68ba5261b734b25b01f5557e2697c93895a)

and what I did with it in 20 minutes or so in PSP X3.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg823.imageshack.us%2Fimg823%2F4638%2Frllevelcross11010901.jpg&hash=b5709eb220177e416154955f6cdec2743ed2b9f2)

This works because: a) the pic was a small one to begin with and b) because it was pretty low res.  I'll tell you, though.  I wouldn't accept a digital picture as dispositive evidence of anything if I were a trial court judge.

Well, David, its a good thing you won't accept digital as evidence. Just like the House photo, I did not shoot, but I got some alteration here to point out something I do not believe you would allow yet. Lets pretend that that was Josh in this picture, you would not let Josh go biking on a busy higher speed road before the teen years would you? (judging by the color of that light though, and the way their facing...)

Well, where did all our PhotoShoppers go?

It's been a year and nobody has, errr... retouched anything here?

...yeah, retouched.  That's the ticket...

Well, I needed one of those "Welcome to..." signs for 3RR that you see all over the midwestern U.S. and Canada.  You know, the civic booster ones with the Kiwanis, Rotary and Elks placards attached below?

Like this one.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg688.imageshack.us%2Fimg688%2F4184%2Ftaftwelcomesyou12012501.jpg&hash=3addf3ca514df63352c37a28c47d38600b933df7)

Problem is, there's no city, town or village in 3RR named Taft.  Nor is there any oil, except in cans sold at service stations and convenience stores.

So I made a few changes...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg408.imageshack.us%2Fimg408%2F1037%2Findependencewelcomesyou.jpg&hash=15eb118a5cd2deef3f9cb78d1657e04e8a9b0667)

Re-aimed that light on the right, too.  Heh!  Who knew they celebrated the arts in a gritty place like Independence?

Let's see your latest and greatest, folks.

Nice work there David.  Plenty of industry, plenty of oil, Taft sounds like a great recreation spot.   :D

Well, I didn't use photoshop to make this, but close enough I think.

This picture, one way or another, is a cross over of all sorts. Portal (the character played by that guy from the UK version of the office), Back to the Future (the font used), Grand Theft Auto IV (most of the cars) and there is a very small hint of MLP FIM fandom here. QuotePoor Durham... dropped in the sign upgrade

Oh, and yeah, what SimCoug said, way to drop Durham, sarcastically. Considering how fine of a detail that is, for some reason I thought some Derpy would not have overlooked that so much.

(but probably don't need to fully reupload, since it's just a one-liner, which looks there was room on the sign, just move the bottom arrow to the left to fit-in)

Ughh... "gore point"  ()what() Don't know why it's called that, but of course they would have to call and spell that part of the highway like that, and this is exactly why this language barrier thing causes some eminent demise for me.
