the national flag, and coat of arms
the national flag recalls the Westphalia's color's ( green and red). The 11th stars represent the 11 Districts of the country.

Capital
: Nova Vesfalo Parlementa Distriko
Most Populous conurbation : Nova Vesfalo Parlementa Distriko
Official Language : Esperanto
Government :Constitutional monarchy
          Monarch : Anna II Vesfalo
          Prime Minister : Nicolai Douvnov
Currency :Vesfalo (V)

The country has been founded by Piotr Vesfalo in 1795. The first city was Ersto Urbo, later renamed Piotro. With the comming of migrants from europe, his grand sister Anna I Vesfalo decided to build a new capital : the parlemento distriko.
Anna Vesfalo commisioned Nicolas Barev, a russian architect to design the map of the new capital. Barev's project is clearly insperated by L'enfant's map of Washington DC.

Welcome to SC4D MDs!  &apls

This surely looks like a great addition, and I just love all the added info!

Quite interesting to see that the official language is Esperanto -> Click! (//http://), and although I'm ashamed to admit that I do not know a lot about the language, I am intrigued by it. Can you speak Esperanto?

And furthermore, does Nova Vesfalo have any linguistic / etymological tie to "New Westphalia?" It just sounds the same to me. :P Anyway, the pics are looking good, the concept looks stunning, and I'm waiting for more!

Might I interest you in the SCJU?  ;D -> Click! (http://www.scju.org)

thanks for all,

M4346 :

For esperanto, I'm learning it, or trying to learn it, and that's quite magical, I'm just not in love with the only difficult point of the whole grammar the "-n" of the accusatif :(

I 'm really interesting by joining the SCJU, how could I apply or rying to ?

yep Vesfalo has some links with Westphalia (Vestfalo in esperanto), back to the SC3 WE, my mayor name of my european city was Peter Von Westphalie.

After I posted above, I went on a search for a way to learn Esperanto and came across a really good site and am now learning the language! I like the idea behind it, and have not yet gotten to the akkusativ (the German spelling), and I'm quite thankful for that at the moment. :P

You can take a look at it here, if you're interested. -> Click! (http://pacujo.net/esperanto/course/)

So thank you for bringing this language to my attention again!

As for the SCJU.

The Union has three options of membership at the moment.

1. Observership
2. Ambassadorship
3. Full Membership

Each has its own benefits and prerequisites.

To become an observer you do not need an MD / CJ, but you can in some way or the other actively contribute or partake in the Union and its mechanisms. More information available here: -> Click! (http://z12.invisionfree.com/The_SCJU/index.php?showtopic=1264).

To become an Ambassador you need to have an MD / CJ that is at least 2 months old. More information here: -> Click! (http://z12.invisionfree.com/The_SCJU/index.php?showtopic=401)

And lastly, for Full Membership you need to have an MD / CJ that is at least 3 months old. A full member has the right to vote on and propose new legislation and vote in presidential elections, become ministry heads etc., but also has much more responsibilities.

To apply you can do so here: -> Click! (http://z12.invisionfree.com/The_SCJU/index.php?showtopic=256) after having registered at the forums.

I know this sounds like a tedious task, but I'm sure your MD will be a great addition to the Union, and I am personally very much in love with the Union as it provides a platform for great storylines and the sharing of MD-ideas!  ;D

I suggest that you apply for Observership immediately, if this is your first day of this MD, and then get familiar with the Union and work your way up the membership ladder as time progresses.

For any help or more information, feel free to contact me!  ()stsfd()

And  I thought that Vesfalo is Westphalia (or Westfalen, in German). I love Nordrhein-Westfalen, so I'm pleased with the name! :P

Looking forward to more, and to seeing you around the SCJU!

LOL! My tutor said "ci" isn't used that often, I knew there was a distinction like in German, but I thought that "vi" was the more informal one. :P

Great update, yet again, and more reason for me to vocally support your MD here, and over at the SCJU. ;)

That's a wonderful formal mall.  Not every large city needs one, but you've carried this one off particularly well.

I'll add my voice to the "No U-Drive-It" chorus.  They don't add anything, and an unfortunately placed one can spoil a great pic.

I missed commenting in this MD when it started a week or so ago.  You have a really nice start- made me realize I need to get on that 3RR flag that I've got lying around unfinished somewhere.  The map info is a nice addition as well.

Good luck!

Great stuff.
First the CBD. Impressive, the park in the middle is very well done!

Little Tokyo is intersting to see all those japanes bats in play.
The dome is impressive although I would add a massive amount of parking spaces around the stadiums.

M4346: thanks so much ! It made me very happy you like it !
thundercrack83 : thanks a lot ! The Wordly feel is due to the creation of the Vesfalian Identity with the differents waves of migrants from the Acadians to the Japanese.

Let's Start talking about Victoria Distriko :

Some Historic Fact, Victoria Distriko has been developed at the Begining of the Anna II reign. The CBD was the first project to devlop the country and get it off the economic marasm. The first constructions started in the mid-60s

VD1 (victoria Distriko) is composed by the train station of Nova Vesfalo built under the Victoria I reign ( 1867 ) , the metro-hub designed by Norman Foster in 1990, the Victoria Turo, the highest tower in Nova Vesfalo, and various skycrapers (the green one hosts the Imperial Admnistrations), the Bank of America ( one of the major sponsors of the project)

The composition of your skyline and the layout of your downtown looks so "natural." Okay, that sounds stupid because it is man-made and artificial, but what I mean is that it just looks "RIGHT!" (and right in a normative, subjective value sense, and not in a political sense. :P)

It looks perfect, like it should be that way. Some players have not yet, in my opinion, mastered "the skyline." You have (at least in my view, if it counts for anything. lol).

Definitely, eagerly and as always anticipating more! MORE, MORE, MORE! :P

;D

I you were using streets , I should have adviced Jeronij Street Side Mod ... try Euro Asphalt Sidewalk by sap23 ; it's generic & grey , but I enjoy the fact it's uniform whatever the wealth RCI and the fact that this texture is available under LotEditor . Just a question of taste ... try them all (there's another one with a brown paved texture )
Pleasant downtown , imposing and aery at the same time

M4346 : thanks a lot for this wonderful comment !!
thundercrack83: thanks a lot, the 3D is just a little sketch up model, no that much hard to do
pipishere: thanks a lot, at the begining, I wanted to put the Sears in the Capital City, but don't know where, and then I've created the Victoria District and by a miracle they fit quite good where they are
Badsim: I will look them , thanks :)
kwakelaar: thanks a lot, I think those parks are quite a good way to see the different urbanism-time, cause this part of the city has been urbanized in the 60-70's, the modernism was the dominant ideology, so the district should has some parc, and breath-space
NikNik: thanks :)

Here comes VD2, Victoria Distriko 2, the expension of the first CDB. May Starchitects have worked for this project.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg248.imageshack.us%2Fimg248%2F1328%2F01zu0.jpg&hash=6451eddf9ec3f86817b9d7cc189b73ab9ee184c0)
Since the 90s, NVUDA ( the urbanism administraion of Nova Vesfalo) devlops Victoria Districo 2, the extension of the Financial District built in the 70s. Near the little golf of Petit Quebec and the Imperia Aleo, VD2 is the futur of Nova Vesfalo.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg392.imageshack.us%2Fimg392%2F9434%2F02le1.jpg&hash=dafefc70fb9edaebee9e5e1990afb327c80dbcdf)
From Little Québec to VD2

With the surge of French Amrican , a new district of Nova Vesfalo emerged. Theirs roots have created the identity of this part of the city. The Vesfalian called it : Petit Québec.
The heart of the city is the Roussac Store at the intersection of Jacque Cartier & Victoria boulevards. From 1825 to 1870 the store was the biggest of the city.

picture : Roussac Store, new town hall [quebec turo], old town hall

Quebec Tower
The Quebec tower, the icon of VD2,is the lastest work of the international architect Norman Foster. Quebec Turo, on Jacque Cartier Avenuo is located in the part of the district where the French American, runing away the Anglo-saxion persecutions from the XVIII to the end of the XIX century. ( in fact most of them where the children of the Acadian which where expulsed from Canada by the British and where hosted in Nantes and settled in Nova Vesfalo. Others where just French American that where leaving Britsh Canada to Nova Vesfalo).
With VD2, the Jacque Cartier Avenuo changes dramaticly, the tower is the proof of that change. The tower is a new architectural event in the Nova Vesfalo Skyline.
The tower of Norman Foster is the center of VD2 and hostst the new office of the Town Administration.

With VD2, the town wanted to add a new major art center for the city. The Kultura Kvartalo is composed by the Imperial Arts Center, designed by Philip Johnson and the New Library, by Rem Koolas.

Post by: nova vesfalo on March 11, 2007, 05:43:21 AM
thanks very much for this really nice comments ! (still didn't find my new sidewalk mod for this update)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg168.imageshack.us%2Fimg168%2F5637%2Fheadxr5.jpg&hash=6c22acafcbeeec20095960f0476fd2cb5b4ec279)
Piotro was the first city founded on Nova Vesfalo Island in 1777. It was first named Ersto Urbo (litt: The first city). Giorgo Vesfalo renamed it Piotro in 1796.

The city was composed by Ersto Urbo, where the settlers decided to build their homes and the Fortress.
The curent district of Ersto urbo is limited by the walls, now Murego Avenuo ( Wall Avenue)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg255.imageshack.us%2Fimg255%2F4527%2F02pt2.jpg&hash=c07b56c3746c38f26fd1fce701acc907126b317d)
Ersto Avenuo was until the middle of the XIXth century the buisness center of the whole city. Ersto avenuo is ended by the Holly Trinity Church.
The Avenue hosts the Town Hall ( the green roofed building just in front of the church ), the first courthall ( now the regional assembly directed by the Senator of Piotro-Nov-Vestfalo )
The Westphalian Quay hosts many old building, some of them where the first ever built in Piotro. The big building on the quay is the Senate-regional represention office.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg329.imageshack.us%2Fimg329%2F3827%2F04ic5.jpg&hash=22613e500e8e5c8e1eab005469709ef06d344174)
a close up on Trinity Church. The church was built in 1789 where the first wooded-chapel of the city standed. The Trinity Church is an very importent monument for Nova Vesfalo, it's where Piotro Vesfalo declared the independance from Russia

The old french-styled building is the Governor House,

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg185.imageshack.us%2Fimg185%2F7180%2F05bw1.jpg&hash=5bac379858cfe87af42b829e012e3ceda40b4cb0)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg117.imageshack.us%2Fimg117%2F9559%2F06at6.jpg&hash=2cb0a17ceac2ea8a04936b9b7499c13b2e782e5a)
The Catherine of Russia Quay, never renamed after the independance.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg404.imageshack.us%2Fimg404%2F3752%2F01rq6.jpg&hash=8c285046d934bc5117b829f5f71e2a9f7107199a)
Well, you can see the back of the Trinity Church and the graveyard. Some of the grave belong to the first Russian and German Stellers.

At the Bottom, you can see Murego Avenuo, where the wooden-wall standed. Today it's one of the major axis of Piotro. The building at the left bottom corner is the Stock Exchange, built by a Dutsh Architect at the end of the XIXth Century.

To answer kekus74 though, I do believe that the "Holy Trinity Church" is in fact "St. Paul's Chapel" in New York, done by Hanson and available here -> Click! (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17437)

Very nice city and great story. I like the way you explain the buildings.

Well let's continue the visit of Piotro with the RailwayStation and Murego Avenuo District.

The District has been urbanized during the XIXth century with the construction of the station and the destruction of the walls of the city. Through the XVIIIth century, the place where used by merchand to unload their ships

Piotro Stacidomo or  Ushakov Stacidomo name after amiral Fyodor Ushakov who accompanied Piotr Vesfalo during the exedition commisioned by Catherine II of Russia:

Murego Avenuo has been designed to replace the old walls of the city and organized the unload of the ships. Today the avenue host the Stock Exchange and has been the witness of the XIXth century economical expenansion with quite high building and Grand Magasin.

Hi Nova Vesfalo ,

I confirm ; great update . I enjoy your style and taste . I even wonder if you should take NOT my suggestions in consideration , your MD has a special flavor like this ... somewhere between the original game and this "other thing" that it is now . Something like Cuba , maybe , an old-fashioned and delightful atmosphere .

Amazing .

hey folks , sorry for my disipearing, I was quite busy ! Thanks for all your comments and support !

Well, Today we will visit Murego Avenuo's neighborhood, this part of the city is located between Ersto Urbo and the Fortress. Until the mid XIXth century many ships landed there. With the economic boum of the XIXth century, many skycrapers have been built, It became a very à la mode place in Piotro, this is why you find there the very fashionable "4 saisons" department store and the Rembrant Theatre.

Today the neighborhood is located between the railway and the coast. It stills a trendy location of Nova Vesfalo and a pleasant place for summer promenades.

Murego Avenuo neighborbood is limited by the railway from Cavendish-Viktorai and the Fret Station.

Wow, this MD is an absolute gem! Great graphics work in previous updates, and just enough backstory to be interesting but not intrusive. Just one suggestion though, you should maybe consider getting rid of the horrible dirt texture under your railway tracks with either; Swamper-77's No Railway Dirt Mod [linkie] (http://http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item77) or PEG's Alternate Rail Set Mod [linkie] (http://http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item183).

Thanks :)

Let's wait for the next update by viewing the project of Hight Speed Rail of Nova-Vesfalo. The aim of this project is to connect the 3 major urban Area of the state ( Summer-Piotro , Nova Vesfalo Parlemanta Distriko  and Giorgo Urbo) and the future Airport with an efficiant public transport system.

8 stations will be created in SommerDomo, Piotro-SIKC, Cavendish Viktoria, Nova Vesfalo - VD, Rustico, Tracadie, Skto Marko Golfeto and Giorgo Urbo
All the details of the project hasn't been fixed, the biggest problem is the location of many stations, Nova Vesfalo is over-satured as Piotro and Giorgo Urbo, Cavendish Viktoria is stucked betwen sea and moutains and the location of the future airport hasn't been clearly choosen.

Thanks guys !
The IVUA project is going well, the major problem is the lack of HRSP's station, but the line is getting built.

I don't know what will be the next update, maybe Nova Vesfalo's Buissness District or the Imperial university, well I don't know ^^

So because I haven't choosen yet, here a region picture (you can see it still a lot of thing to do)

cool region

I like your HSR plan. is the dashed line a tunnel?

maybe instead of worrying how it will connect with the new airport, do it the other way around and choose a site thats in good proximity to the new line
Title: Re: Nova Vesfalo
Post by: nova vesfalo on May 12, 2007, 06:54:31 AM
thundercrack83 :thanks ! Yeah I hope I will find a way to solve this problem ! I've seen on the HSRP thread on ST a nice station in working :)
emilin : Well just one close up , the Piotro Close up will reveal to much the layout of the CBD (soon shown) :)  So here we go with Nova Vesfalo Parlementa Distriko close up, still a lot of zone to urbanized with "suburbs" ans the port to do :
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg144.imageshack.us%2Fimg144%2F512%2F81054179pd9.jpg&hash=539f724de23485073230db0ebfdcd2f41c69c28c)

the dashed grey line represents the Regions border.
bat: thanks :)
Zaphod: Thanks ! the dashed line represent an not so sure aerea for the line, not tunel, but a part of the line that is very hard to know where to built it : it's an aera of Nova vesfalo where there are a lot of connexion : motorway , railway , .... so it's hard to know where to built the line....

Well today update will be on Katerina Uniono, the university of Nova Vesfalo, it's the unique university of the country.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg244.imageshack.us%2Fimg244%2F9492%2F01kb6.jpg&hash=bc663058dab5fd202f037b55fdd72b6290510589)
The university is located in Viktoria's Region, near the Nova Vesfalo Parlementa Distriko.

Katerina Uniono has been founded in 1857 by Anna I-a Vesfalo the little daughter of Katerina Vesfalo. Katerina Uniono is the union of all the High School of the Country (from Piotro and Giorgo urbo mainly , Nova Vesfalo was just founded by Anna I-a Vesfalo).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg175.imageshack.us%2Fimg175%2F4277%2F02jy5.jpg&hash=21eb6f6102e979a394f55a7018a7caf7645f7631)
The University is diveded in 4 sector, today we will see K-Uniono 1 ( the first sector), K-Uniono hosted the first buildings of the university.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg512.imageshack.us%2Fimg512%2F4530%2F08lv3.jpg&hash=f9dc41f018c5890d45bb3652a07708b216537ff1)
Leland Frisov Korto is the heart of the university and with Katerina Domo the first buildings ever built. Those Buildings are truely Roman-revival.
Katerina Domo hosts the Direction and all the secretaries ( foreign relation,...) and the Graduation Hall , where Students get their diploma
Frisov Korto hosts some Lecture room, some Student Associations.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg509.imageshack.us%2Fimg509%2F9148%2F05jd4.jpg&hash=0c19421610d906d107020116ce7f9ce2a8b60055)
As you can see on this pictures the Buildings have been extended in the 60's with underground rooms and amphitheatre. It's not the only 60's projects of the university, the biggest projects are located in the Sector 2.
At the Botom stands Saint Mark 's Chapel built in 1857 with the Court and the Hall in a Dutch-revival style.

A night shot, you can see the Student's Building , built in the 20's in a colonial style and the former Science department built in the 40s.

In this part of K-Uniono 1, some modern buildings has been errected in the 90s and 2000s
The Boutros-Ghali  Library has been opened in 2001 to offer more space to the student
The New Student's buildings has been built in 1999 by an architect from the Gehry agency, it's a small building with a connexion to the underground complex.
The Conferan Hall is older, built in 1992, it had a large amphitheatre, used for important conference, such as the recent one of All Gore and for Concert of the University Orchestra.

(//)
At every back to school , since 1857, all the students pass the bridge and enter in Frisov Court.
Near the Coast stands the Imperial Library built in 1860 in a Oxfordian Style, well it's the exaxt replica of the Oxford Library, it hosts some of the most precious books of the country.

Hope you've enjoyed :)

kwakelaar : thank you ! Well for the monastery's pieces, I was wondering how I could made something like the Stanford Quad, so the Monastery's pieces was a good way to do that, and it's works quite well for an architectural production of the mid XIXth, with all the revival style .

thundercrack83: :) thanks, for the 3D map it's not a big job, get a screen of your city with the map of transit or water, and do it on Sketchup :) but yes , it's a good way to show an global view of a district, to show how thinks connect with others in space.

Yoman: thank you ! Well know I'm working on adding biggest less dense suburb to Nova Vesfalo and complete the sea-port

bat : thanks, without the wonderful works of all the baters, we could not that much diverse's cities !

Air6: thanks :) , I love doing those maps, it's very funny to see the volumetry from an another angle !

pipishere: thank you ! Happy you like it

emilin: thank you :) Glad you enjoy it, you're MD is sooo great !

Strechnitz: thanks ! I will show the rest of the university complex later, it's a more 60s to 80s part :) Happy you like the map :)

sebes: thanks for the compliment !!!

thanks you all very much !

Well today, we will not have a look to next part of Katerina Universitata, but to the third city of Viktoria Regxino : Grand-Valo, located at the starts of the Noranzo range, the "moutain"-like parts of Nova Vesfalo. ( the biggest cities of Viktoria Regxiono are Rutisco then Cavendish-Viktoria).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg526.imageshack.us%2Fimg526%2F8392%2Fgrandvaloinfocopieql9.jpg&hash=7034fe2f350fe5be309ef42acb2589eab85ab8f8)

The city is located at the crossing of the Road15 (from Piotro to Rustico) and Road23 (from Viktoria to Noranzo lando).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg503.imageshack.us%2Fimg503%2F5776%2F07uo3.jpg&hash=3fba747a3619d049049fb9b32cf9791220f8981c)
The train station of Grand-Valo and the Noranzo lando ones have been built at the same time, when the railway has been developed in the region. The architect made a building type, so all the train stations are the same.

The city hall has been erected in 1840, it replaced the wooden one from the early XIXth

Saint Susan's Church has been built en 1820 in a Gothic revival style
Dirham Gesthouse is the oldest hostel of the city, the building dated from the mid XIXth

In the 50s, the city decided to built a new allotment and get a Baseball field, with the attraction of the region with the opening of the Highway Piotro to Nova vesfalo.

Braunschweig's factory has been one of the biggest factory of the Viktoria regions.
Found in 1798, the today building has been built by Giorgo Braunschweig in 1812.

It takes one to know one, and yes they are a great addition to this MD.
Very much like the images from Grand-valo with the Esperanto comments. This is a charming small town in a soft rolling landscape.
The Mercato placo is a nicely planned square with the most important structures of the town, it looks quite romantic.

I'm just going to suggest 2 things, Noob's or Peg's rail mods to make the base texture grass or a continuous dirt to get rid of those saw tooth effects you have, and the Euro road mod, because I'm pretty sure your developing a damn nice European City here. Stop time at the SCJU any time again if you want :)

Yoder7652: thanks :) , the city was designed to be globalview friendly. For wind farm, it's not the Junky city, it's due to the National Park just at the south of the city, one of the three national park of the country. Thanks :),as I've said, Maps are a great way to see the spacial organazation of  a part of a city or a complex. Happy to see you appreciates the crests and flags :) , It's very funny to make, playing with symbols, puting them together :)
bat thanks !!
kwakelaarmerci beaucoup :) nice to see you like Esperanto comments, it's an opportunity for me to pratice more my esperanto and leanr new words. Merkata placo is the heart of the city at the crossing of the V23 and the V15, as usal I'm happy to see you've liked this part of the town, it isn't as planned as many more talented and patient people would have done.
FromTheAshes thanks very much. What a coiencidence , you're living next to Braunschweig !! Well in this context, Braunschweig is the name of a vesfalian famillyn the owner and foundator of the factory of grand valo ( I've choose Braunschweig, because I wanted a german name, and Nova Vesfalo is supposed to be in the golf of Saint Lawrence, next to the New Brunchwik, and Brunchwik was the saxon name of Braunschweig)
Yoman thanks :) I'm forget to download them the first time someone told me it could be good, I wille do it :) For the euro texture, I don't want to use it, the standart one make traveling through north american, as an european guy, euo-texture is my everyday life :)

The GLR to Rail Can be found here. (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14960)
It is a Beta, so train traffic cannot run on the Glr tracks, and vice-versa, but it still will be able to switch Train Traffic
to Glr Trafic and back.

Well let's start with a more formal presentation of Cavendish-Viktoria. Cavenish-Viktoria is the regional capital of "Viktoria Region". Located at the west of Piotro, the city is the result of the fusion of the city of Cavensih and Viktoria. Cavendish has been founded by the english in 1769. Viktoria
has been founded in 1799 by Francis De Risa, when the land has been won from the English Colonie. The city has prospered quite fast.  In the 1900s, with the commercial boum, many rich traders familly stelled in Viktoria.

the game decided to bug just when I've started the 2d mosaic...

Yoman : thanks :) glad you thought it

patfirefghtr : thanks :) I will try to make the next one longer
thundercrack83: thanks ( the next update will show better the trainstation , the transportation layout was a nightmare to get with the avenue, the train , then the GLR, well I've found a solution but it's quite weird one, you will see ^^)

1- Angla Urbo , during the english era, this part of the town has been urbanized by the english, to host a bigger city than cavendish, the actual city follow the roadlayout of the English urban planing
2- Risa Kvartalo, named after Francis de Risa the man who founded the Vesfalian Viktoria
3- Stacidomo, mainly industrial
4-Bayview, a wealthy district of the city
5-La Alto located on the Hills between Viktorai and Katerina Universito
6- Cavendish the first english town in the Bay, now it's peaceful and pitoresque part of the city
7-Cavendish Haveno the port of Viktoria and Piotro Region, with the urban developement of Piotro and Viktoria in the XIXth, the administration decided to create a new port in Viktoria Bay to desaturate the Piotro one.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg127.imageshack.us%2Fimg127%2F2923%2F03kt0.jpg&hash=683391c5489423b7aaa3a10bb1cc0075d7ca7d70)
Stanley River isn't really a river... but Victorian people called it a river :) , on its banks you can see the neoclassical Governor House of Viktoria Region, the plazza just behind it is called Viktoria Plazza, it's where the main avenue of the city begins, the Francis De Risa Avenuo (the man who founded the Vesfalian Viktoria in 1799 when the english left the region). At the top of the picture you can see the High speed station plazza with the new high rise around it.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg339.imageshack.us%2Fimg339%2F7760%2F04be6.jpg&hash=a26188e57e4cdb3ab207eea597ef1483f9a55f59)
Bayview is the upper crust part of the town, not in the center, but not yet in the suburbs. Yes it's an english name, when Cavendish was an english town, bayview is one of the best place to see the bay. The jewel of Bayview is Viktoria Courts, built by a rich familly in the mid XIXth, the courts is today a very nice promenade. The typical english architecture recalls the english heritage of this part of the country.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg503.imageshack.us%2Fimg503%2F6333%2F05nf4.jpg&hash=3afa5c529405e38e2954c27d0611ed5b8ce962b3)
From Bayview to La alto. Just next to Bayview and Skta Laurenco's school, you find La Alto district on Viktoria Hills. La Alto has radicaly cahnged since the 70s with the construction of a lot of medium rise. La Alto is the last "dense" distrikt of the city after "Katerina Altoj" a 60s to 70s urban sprawling zone between Viktoria and Katerina Universito.

A delightful update on a delightful town. Very nice how you have used the map to divide the several parts of the town. you are also an expert in the use of the Marrast emnbanlkment set. very nice!

By the way I do not live in The Hague but in Rotterdam. The two cities almost border each other. the city of Delft lies wedged in between.  But I do go to the Hague often. and believe it or not it is only a half hour drive ;D

Let's continue our visit of Cavendish Viktoria. Today the charming city of workers : Cavendish and its seaport, used by Piotro and Viktoria.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg521.imageshack.us%2Fimg521%2F3300%2F07ty5.jpg&hash=15fc2cca949532e8eb679204dc66172ae1a865c3)
Cavendish seaport isn't the biggest seaport of the country,  but it's used by factory from Piotro and Viktoria Region. The bridge links Cavendish and Viktoria.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg443.imageshack.us%2Fimg443%2F9751%2F09uv1.jpg&hash=d890f0c2bb40f93c954a07b8068c705ebac60f20)

The seaport is an important coal terminal due to the presence of the Coal power plant (giving light to Viktoria region)
At the top you can see the little city of Cavendish, most of the inhabitants work in the Seaport. The banks has been redesigned in the 90's, the project has been called the "Green Belt"

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg267.imageshack.us%2Fimg267%2F4503%2F099rn0.jpg&hash=e6b5c5b626b3f7ac62602565fd7fe3003c5621d1)
Good bye Cavendish.

The next update will be on Sommerdomo (litt : Summer house) the capital of Sommer-flanko ( SummerSide ), named after the Summer Palace of the imperial familly. Sommerdomo is the Seaside ressort of Nova Vesfalo. It has been from 1867 to 1908 the parliament city ( we will see all the Imperial Capitals madness soon :) ). Mainly built at the end of the XIXth century, the city gets , today, the nickname of Little Miami....

Title: Re: Nova Vesfalo
Post by: nova vesfalo on July 31, 2007, 03:06:24 PM
the rebuilding of Parlemanta Distriko is progressing , I take the oportunity to add the Stroponian Ambassadory :)

Just after the opening of diplomatic relations between Nova Vesfalo and the Stroponian Empire, Her Majesty Anna II and the Government has choosen a location for the stromponian amabasadory : the Catela Casa, the palace of an old familly, built in a Toscanian Style in the center of the Capital. The last Heir of the Catela Family sold the building to the Hearst Trust in 1989. In 2001, an extension has been built in the garden, but 2 years later the Hearst trust decided to leave Nova Vesfalo, Imperial Authority to protect the Catela Casa bought the building, but never used it. Catela Casa was the right spot for Stroponian ambasadory !

thundercrack83glad you like the station :)

belfastuniguy thanks :), very happy to became an ambassador state at SCJU, btw there's no update on the board , is it normal?

Today, because computers love to crash a region shoot with a before -after feeling :)
the re-doing of Nova Vesfalo is progressing, with some additions ,and more low-rise style, think it fits better in the region that a forest of highrise. Well the CBD will be as big as it was, but it's more the suroundings that will get a lower skyline.

First: looking good with the rebuilding of the main city. I see you changed the terrain mod too which is probably going to do wonders for the coast line (Maxis beaches are not that good looking really), and I do think that a more mixed urban development will be much better.

About the growth: it's been quite a long time since I tried to develop any kind of dense urban area, so I'm not sure about demand and stuff. But I'm guessing that the troubles you are having are due to some sort of demand cap, so CAM could maybe be part of the solution. Cap-relievers of any kind (like parks and all that stuff) could help too. Also, check the land values - maybe you do have the demand you need (and also the cap-relievers necessary) but no available land for the desired development. I know that has happened to me when I have rebuilt urban areas. I usually solve that problem by planting trees. Zone first, the go nuts with God Mode trees over that zone, if that doesn't work: surround it by small parks (you can bulldoze them when the zone is developed and the values start to rise).

glad the reconstruction of Nova Vesfalo was "worth it" (quite sure the grammard doesn't match with this sentence ^^) Wow, geting in the classic MD, I feel a bit out of place there, with all those great MD !
pipisheremerci :)
emilinyeah changed for a more greenish one, and I'm loving this terrain, didn't really play with the beaches it can create, but as far as I've seen yeah I could made some nice north american beaches !! For the more Urban Developement , Nova Vesfalo was my first SC4 city !! I was so impresed by the tall buildings and didn't have all those BAT... that's why I'm rethinking it with the same masterplan (roughly) and adding thingy like a canl , love the callagrafx one. And I will be not like the older one , develop the surounding with some urban sprawl, I'm not really good at Urban Sprawl? Maybe because I hate urban sprawl ^^. But I will look with more attention to Esenada, SA made some really nice looking and realistic urban sprawl, I'm not saying I will do something as best as SA' one  :-[, it would be too difficult, but I will try to make better one :)

For the growth, I'm dowloading the CAM, but I've forget all my SC3000 tips you've mentioned, the parks , the trees, land value , thanks for make me reminds my SC3000 parks :) , Plop isn't for residential, hope all your tips. :) :)

Oh, but it is, if you use the the Extra Cheats DDL (there is a link to it in dedgrens how to adjust your budget tutorial. (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=170.0)). If you have installed that download you just bring up the cheat window and typ "lotplop" which brings up all availble lots in the game, and the residentials actually work (not a "no connection" zot in sight).

Very nice work, and welcome to the Classics forum, Nova!

Your downtown looks quite good. By the way, I have the same demand issues as you are... all that's really needed is sufficient bribing to get those damned Sims to move in - oh, and a lot of patience helps too - it sometimes doesn't work, and have a pillow/cushion/soft item nearby so you can take your frustration out on it if things don't work out as well as you like.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the airport. That piece of land's good, but why not go offshore? :P

the rebuilding of Parlemanta Distriko is progressing , I take the oportunity to add the Stroponian Ambassadory :)

I am speachless, The Catela Casa is indeed the right spot for the embasadory. I would not have picked a better building for the purpose if I could. &apls

Thank you for this wonderful and testeful building. My foreign office is searching for a fitting building to house the Nova/Vesfalian Embassy. If you have suggestions please PM me about them.

Your other updates are stunning as always I look forward to see your airport. good choice to use that Calatrava building.

As soon as the Stroponian starts the new governmental year in a week or two she will apoint a qualified ambassador to come and reside in this magnificent building and work on improving our relations!  :)

patfirefghtr: thanks , the airport is progressing the train station and the main terminal are nearly finished :) , CAM are nearly solved the demand issue :)
bat: thanks :) , still weird to be in the classics ^^
Shadow Assassin : CAM has nearly solved the demand issue , God Bless CAM :) . For the airport I've thought too It could be offshore, but I didn't found the right place for an artificial island. Btw I would not be a very big airport :)
thundercrack83: thanks very much, hope the airport would be ready for the December Simlympics Bid :)
sebes: marketing is in the Vesfalian genes ^^
Strechnitz: glad you're liking your ambassy :) , the ambassy was a great start for this part of the city to organize the "blank square" :)
kwakelaar: thanks :) as I've mentioned, I'm thinking CAM has a bit resolved the demand issue, still cross my finger :). Yeah the Gateway station dramaticly close St John Circus's space.

The rebuilding is progressing (Making a pause to built Providenco the Regional Capital fo the Epivekt territory :) )

la Alto, the oldest part of the Town is located at the exact place of a former Mi'kmaq village. La Alto dominates the provideco sea port.

an another picture of La Alto, offering a better view on the Church plazza; Just in front of Saint George, you can see the Townhall of Providenco, building in 1814.

Well today we will continue our exploration of the Wild Region of Epikvekt, after Providenco, it's time for Lennox.

The City as the particularity to be located on an island, just in front of Piotro Arboro National Park. Lennox is today a peaceful town at the border of the conurbation of Piotro-Sommerdomo-Cavendish and the nature. The proximity of the attractive Piotro has made the price of the house rose recently.

Lennox is the second biggest city of Epikvekt (behind Providenco). Founded in 1819, Lennox served as a Quarantine Area for the Piotro Seaport until the 30s. Lennox-Urbo is composed by Lennox , Lennoxito a small island with 20 houses and Arboro located at the entrance of the national park.

Piotro Arboro was the first of the 4th National Park of Nova Vesfalo in 1875 to preserved the forest wich started to be heavily exploited.

Well let's start to showcase Lennox.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg239.imageshack.us%2Fimg239%2F8089%2F04bxh1.jpg&hash=7319ab620e7b13dc0d017ca846f5ae713dd0e212)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg512.imageshack.us%2Fimg512%2F89%2F04ee0.jpg&hash=eea33811ff4e35ae46a6b8aff7f70184a6645706)
Lennox's fishing port is quite death today, but back to the 20s it was a prosperous area. Skta Maria de Kanado built at the foundation of the city doesn't havea graveyard due to the size of the island , death people are burried at Providenco or Piotro.

On the Main Street, some wealth houses stand. They have been built by some traders in the XIXth century. Just in front of the church, stands the market.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg236.imageshack.us%2Fimg236%2F3408%2F03bgm7.jpg&hash=583f25f57d4b1f1318c31f2c3755cecd22971def)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg50.imageshack.us%2Fimg50%2F9822%2F03fh9.jpg&hash=82946bc8674573c4c49895308e5c8fc7a84f9fae)

Forham Factory was the main Wooden related factory. Just behind it the zone is today a High Technology village. But it was until the 20s the Quarantine zone and the extension of the fishing port to host bigger ship.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg126.imageshack.us%2Fimg126%2F859%2F05al0.jpg&hash=99fd9d8a36f172eca87b6a8af1db17cbd4a09af4)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg126.imageshack.us%2Fimg126%2F5493%2F05byk5.jpg&hash=bbe68fdb26c7ed054e3d01c183db13452459205b)
Lennox is quite dense, the old houses are 2-3 storey and are divided into apartements.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg211.imageshack.us%2Fimg211%2F543%2F06blu1.jpg&hash=593a58a874db5f3228b0fc3a37e30e009744e093)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg522.imageshack.us%2Fimg522%2F4084%2F06gs9.jpg&hash=50a03c91200ed41261af44cd9979489be55e2391)
La pointo is the less dense part of the town, like the Quarantine Zone, it has been urbanized recently.

Lennoxito is composed by aprox. 10 houses of fishermen. Today with the ferry Liason to Piotro, as Lennox, the price of the m² has rose and some high qualified employee lives there.

Hi Nova

The region is developing nicely I see.
And those small island communities are very lifelike.
With that charming rural feel yet very well groomed.

I love it.

thanks both :)

Today some littles pic of Nikolao Canal near its end in Nova Vesfalo :

Saint Nicolas church located on the Nicolas Canal Banks has been built in 1889 when the canal has been diged. The construction of the canal and the church has caused the destruction of a large part of the Nikolao Distriko, wich has been started to be urbanied at the begining of the XIX th century. Saint Nicolas is the second largest church in the Capital.
In 1903 the ligne A has been extented to this part of the city crossing the canal.

Today Nikolao Distriko is one of the most expensive part of city due to the proximity of the canal , its realtive calm and its small comunities feels. Many tourist come to Nikolao Distriko to visits Saint Nicolas and have a drink at one of the numerous cafes of the aera.
