Title: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on April 27, 2007, 04:25:02 PM
This topic will serve for announcing all SFBT releases on the SC4D LEX. Feel free to comment here or with the LEX comment feature. :)

SFBT Random Seasonal Woods (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=751) by Andreas

These lots have been released on Simtropolis a while ago, but some people (including myself ;) ) thought the lots have way too many rock props, so I reduced the number significantly. I also changed the standard Maxis park query sound (barking dog) to something more appropriate (tweeting birds). You don't have to bulldoze the old lots; however, the reduced number of rocks only shows on newly plopped lots. When installing this version, just make sure that the same installation path is selected, and overwrite the old files.

(Note: The pictures still show the old lots with lots of rocks.)

SFBT Random Seasonal Birch Trees (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=752) by ArkenbergeJoe

ArkenbergeJoe created some seasonal birch props and made similar lots than the ones I created with Cycledogg's trees. The summer birch tree was already included in the SFBT Essentials (hence it's the [only] dependency), and this download inludes some props for the other tree seasons. The lot stats are similar to my lots, so they should blend in well.

SFBT Garbage Shipping Yard (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=757) by Andreas

This is one of the true classics, and actually the very first SFBT lot that has been released. My idea was to create a lot that visually represents a neighborhood garbage deal, which should have some facility that shows where the garbage is loaded or unloaded. But it's not only eyecandy, but a functional lot that works similar to a recycling center, and also a built-in "incinerator" that actually reduces the amount of garbage in a city.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg394.imageshack.us%2Fimg394%2F5952%2Fabfallverladestelletagvv6.jpg&hash=6568b819c7d606e07d7d10f4e0865a8cec4dee91)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg394.imageshack.us%2Fimg394%2F1334%2Fabfallverladestellenachrm2.jpg&hash=250c56024987e36340010df3da31306b4e8bc17f)

SFBT Recycling Yard (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=758) by Andreas

I made this lot before the Garbage Shipping Yard, but never got around to release it until lately. It's a rather simple lot that has similar stats as the in-game Recycling Center, and it both looks great alone or if you place it next to the Garbage Shipping Yard.

SFBT Donutor Inc. (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=771) by Spocky

Industry BATs were rather rare when the SFBT formed, and so it's not surprising that we wanted to change that. ;) Esp. the high tech industry areas looked rather boring, so Spocky decided to create a rather unique I-HT facility, the Donutor Inc. The correct term of a three dimensional ring-shaped object is "torus", but most people might be more familiar with donuts, hence the name of the BAT. It comes both in a growable I-HT version, and since it's rather similar to a fusion reactor, as a small power plant lot.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg232.imageshack.us%2Fimg232%2F2694%2Fdonutortagqe3.jpg&hash=5a1a1a71de8e59081ad68c4213c7b86dfc5dfa8e)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg232.imageshack.us%2Fimg232%2F8673%2Fdonutornachthn0.jpg&hash=f31f9c135fd12ddcd58e1c32f6af26965331ecbb)

SFBT H2O Chemics (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=772) by Mathe Man

H2O chemics was one of the first BATs by Mathe Man, released under his own user name on the STEX, some time before the SFBT was founded. Nearly forgotten, it has been updated to the current SFBT standards finally. The shape of the building resembles a water (H2O) molecule, which was also the inspiration for the name. The download contains two I-HT growable lots.

SFBT High-Enthalpy Wind Tunnel (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=773) by Mathe Man

Another early BAT by Mathe Man, this time a wind tunnel testing facility. It's one of the few SFBT BATs that has an external dependency (other than the SFBT Essentials), but I assume most people have the BSC Textures Vol. 1 (BSC Textures Mega Pack) anyway, so this won't be a problem. This is also an I-HT growable.

SFBT Rural Power Lines (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=776) by Spocky

Not everyone likes those large high tension power lines, esp. not in a rural environment. Therefore, Spocky created some rural power line props, which have been placed on lots with transparent base texture, so they will work with every terrain mod. Because the powerlines are props, you have to level the terrain to be perfectly flat, otherwise they won't line up properly. The lots make use of deadwood's preview props from the BSC Forest Lot series, which show up during the placement of the lot, and then disappear.

SFBT Rural Power Supply (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=777) by Andreas

For those who can't use the rural power lines, this pack might be an alternative. It contains two lots, a power generator that runs on natural gas, and the SFBT Wonder Tree, a tree that produces power. Now this might be not the most realistic lot, but hey, since SC4 doesn't have underground power lines, we can cheat a bit, ok? ;) The generator BAT was created by Mathe Man. BTW, the cabin on the right pic is a BAT by Pegasus, available as part of the Mountain Theme Pack series.

SFBT Solar Module (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=778) by Spocky

The more modern orientated mayors might find this lot interesting - another power-themed lot with a solar module that produces a small amount of power, which should be enough for a small settlement. Other than the generator, it doesn't have an impact on the environment. The security fences are part of the SFBT Essentials and were created by Mathe Man. The birch tree was BATted by ArkenbergeJoe, another SFBT Member. :)

SFBT Oil Storage Tanks (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=782) by Mathe Man

An oil storage tank was one of the first industrial BATs that Mathe Man created back in 2004, and since there were some requests to release them for the English speaking community as well, he updated the textures, and rendered the model with several different real and fictional oil company labels on them. For the SFBT release, I created a prop family for the storage tanks, and two ploppable lots were added to the growable, which could be used in harbor areas, or next to a refinery.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg132.imageshack.us%2Fimg132%2F9573%2Foeltanks1yx8.jpg&hash=e9ced092d75c73d0a5a36df2e2fed09bc2895111)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg132.imageshack.us%2Fimg132%2F9990%2Foeltanks2ao3.jpg&hash=334202f3a0ae9eb8659f5868fa37fee1ef758263)

SFBT Cooling Tower (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=783) by Mathe Man

Another early BAT by Mathe Man which got a small facelifting for the SFBT release (which was also done by request from a member of the community). Originally, this cooling tower was supposed to be a part of a large power plant, but due to time constraints, the plant hasn't been made yet. This is only a growable, but you can easily plop it with the DLL that buggi released a while ago.

SFBT Klemmt & Sons Mechanical Engineering (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=784) by Mathe Man

Klemmt & Sons is an I-M lot, which aren't that common when it comes to industrial buildings. At the time of the creation of this BAT, I-M BATs were incredible rare, so this one was more than welcome, obviously. "Klemmt" is actually a German wordplay, meaning "clamp" - probably not the best attribute for an engineering company, but it fits perfectly in the Maxis-style humor of the game. ;)

SFBT Park Set medium wealth (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=797) by Andreas

I'll start with this set because it's the oldest one, rooting back to 2003, shortly after the Lot Editor was released. I always thought that the game lacked of a really large park, and the 3x3 thingy was merely a joke in my eyes - sure, enough to place a small green spot here and there, but of course nothing that you would call a "park" in real life. So I created three lots, a 6x6, a 6x8 and finally a 6x11 lot with similar layout, but still a few differences. Some months later, I discovered joerg's Golf Pack, which also featured a few path lots, as well as some open grass and tree lots that had the same base texture as the Maxis parks.

So I expanded the set continuously, and as of now, it contains 22 individual lots. A big thanks goes to ArkenbergeJoe, who created some excellent diagonal path textures, and he also created some new preview props that are now included in the SFBT Essentials. Those props will show up when you place a lot, so you can see where the path is, but never appear in the game, due to some tricky modding. :) The query UI was also designed by ArkenbergeJoe, it shows the wealth of the park lots with a nice tree icon.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg371.imageshack.us%2Fimg371%2F4458%2Fparkkit1bu7.jpg&hash=ae45635eb0bb68991acb97a4c3595984b389357c)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg371.imageshack.us%2Fimg371%2F9572%2Fparkkit2uv1.jpg&hash=479ed022b5935da02ce7f18c58f8d098e87c8c93)

SFBT Park Set low wealth (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=796) by ArkenbergeJoe

Based on my park set, Arkenberge created two sets that should complement that one. They are not that extensive so far, but should fill quite some needs as well. The first set is intended for low wealth areas, such as the SFBT PreFab (Plattenbau) lots. Low wealth lots tend to upgrade quickly when you place some parks nearby, that's why this set has been stipped off any park and landmark effects. However, the air cleaning function remains, so the low wealth areas benefit a bit from those as well. The lots also feature the exact replica of an Eastern German lamppost, like they could be found basically everywhere in the former GDR. Also, keep an eye on the dead-end path circle for some seaonal surprises. ;)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg371.imageshack.us%2Fimg371%2F2407%2Fparkwegerot01it7.jpg&hash=cc57ead7f20e29e262c84afe0b10d09d1f6d890f)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg371.imageshack.us%2Fimg371%2F1360%2Fparkwegerot02uj7.jpg&hash=0f3b19687163aba199aab861af044c531e4342c5)

SFBT Park Set high wealth (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=798) by ArkenbergeJoe

Finally, here's a set intended for the high wealth areas, with a lush green texture, fancy lampposts, asphalt paths and lots of flowers and other greenery. It mixes well with the in-game high wealth lots and the in-game open grass lot, and if you like, you can also mix it with the BSC Park Series, which has the same lush grass texture. All three sets have been updated to the latest SFBT standards and require the SFBT Essentials from April 2007.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg371.imageshack.us%2Fimg371%2F4996%2Fparkwegedunkel01rz4.jpg&hash=1efaa3fe7727218cde3ab50eee6a32ea8c6320ce)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg371.imageshack.us%2Fimg371%2F883%2Fparkwegedunkel02hf6.jpg&hash=c985d8a120a865015d3902ff20dc4325658d42ac)

Not shown in the images above are the new SFBT diagonal filler lots. Each park set has two lots, one with the green grass texture that shows up next to blank terrain and low-density zones, and the pavement texture that shows up at medium and high density zones.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg516.imageshack.us%2Fimg516%2F2677%2Fdiagonalfillers1id0.jpg&hash=448677a112dfcd755853aa1e5b162335f04e7438)

Here's the situation without filler lots - doesn't look too bad in this particular case, but the jagged edges still don't look that great.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg516.imageshack.us%2Fimg516%2F2070%2Fdiagonalfillers2kt9.jpg&hash=1f85f011c8af39c931bca8d97f1e6df09b06caa8)

So we bulldoze the park lots next to the road again and place one of the diagonal filler lots. Note that the lot features a preview prop that should be oriented to the curb of the road.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg516.imageshack.us%2Fimg516%2F1446%2Fdiagonalfillers3hz4.jpg&hash=c42b3fed392bc876849206d8722b3bcb18aa63a7)

Looks a lot better than before, huh? :)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg516.imageshack.us%2Fimg516%2F7024%2Fdiagonalfillers4ng3.jpg&hash=f8f56f509995a54ebae068be0a81ff28f0921912)

As mentioned above, the filler with pavement texture works well with medium and high density zones. The "sidewalk" might be a bit wide in this case, but it still looks a lot better than with those jagged edges.

BTW, more diagonal fillers for other purposes will be released soon. Check out the "Upcoming BATs and lots (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1112.0)" thread for some pictures.

Uploaded today: The entire SFBT Hamburg set that has been created so far by SFBT member stephenhh, who has been around since SC3000 times. He's currently developing several new BATs, but due to the omnipresent real-life syndrome, the progress is a bit slow at the moment.

Nevertheless, the new release of the Hamburg buildings marks some improvements over the previous releases, namely a new lot layout for most of the buildings, in order to make them compatible with other European wall-to-wall sets. This update was done by lot specialist T Wrecks. Also, a few minor errors have been fixed, and all Hamburg buildings now feature a unique occupant group, which makes them a trigger for future Hamburg landmark rewards.

The filenames haven't changed, so the installer should be able to overwrite the old files. There's no need to bulldoze existing buildings in the game first, but obviously, the new lot layout will only show on lots that have grown after the update. For some older releases, the installation path might have been changed a bit; all BATs are now installed in a subfolder of "My Documents\Plugins\SFBT\Hamburg", with individual subfolders for each building.

Depending on which buildings you have installed, the Hamburg BATs might grow rather easily, so if you think a particular building grows too often, try to remove some of the lot files. Most buildings come with lots for 1x2, 1x3 and 1x4 lots. To get them wall-to-wall, zone 1x wide lots with medium and high density in a checkerboard-style setup, this will prevent wider buildings to develop. And of course, make sure you have the European-Contemporary tileset enabled. ;)

Its great to see the Hamburg set again. Its a long time favorite of mine. One short question: has the pigeon effect been removed from the lots? Some of the original ones have them, but when the lots grow in abundance the game starts to lag a bit.

Post by: Andreas on May 17, 2007, 12:08:33 PM
I'll have to ask T Wrecks about this, but since he re-made basically all older lots, I assume he removed the effect.

EDIT: Well, I had a quick look at them in the Lot Editor, and I haven't found any traces of the pigeon effect. :)

Thanks for redoing these! I spent some time cleaning and searching, but I am sure it'll be worth it ;)

Btw, I have some more Stepenhh residentials: Rehhof 6-10, Wandsbek, Huttrop and Bramsfeld. Will these be re-released too?

Yes, they will be released as part of the SFBT large lot series, created by ArkenbergeJoe (together with the allotments and dachas, and the pre-fab buildings). My posting above should have read "the entire SFBT Hamburg wall-to-wall set". :)

BSC SFBT GLR Tram Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=879)

This set is based on the very first attempt to bring a tram system into SimCity 4. Mikeseith from the BSC was experimenting with tram stations and tram automata, which could be used on the regular (heavy) rails. daeley created an automata spawning script, so the lots actually generated tram automata. They created four station with different colors which could spawn tram cars with matching colors, so it was possible to create "tram lines".

Much later, when the first GLR mod was published, the SFBT picked up the dormant tram stations and the automata script and converted them for the GLR system. GoaSkin modified the LUA automata script, ArkenbergeJoe created a new UI and added a custom sound, and I modded the existing stations for the usage with the GLR tracks, added some nice icons and did some fine-tuning, such as a mod that hides the in-game el-rail automata, so it doesn't interfere with the trams that are spawned by this stations.

For the new draggable GLR in the June 2007 NAM, I have updated the stations with a new transit enabling, so they can be placed directly onto the draggable GLR tracks. I also fixed some minor issues and made the lots bilingual, so they can be used both in English and German versions of the game (don't mind the screenshot below, if your game isn't German, you will get the English text).

SFBT Tram Museum (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=880)

The SFBT Tram Museum was the first collaborated SFBT effort, and probably the most advanced in the early days of the SFBT. I still consider this a major success, although the building itself doesn't look too spectacular. As usual, it's the small details that make it interesting - and if you have used it in one of your cities and watched it for some minutes, you will have as much fun as I have whenever I observe the activity around this lot. :)

It was GoaSkin, who provided the idea, and Mathe Man picked up the BATting job. Most likely, he cursed me later for this, because I was never satisfied with the texture of the green museum tram station roof - it was either too green or too brown. It turned out that Mathe Man has a slight color blindness for red and green, so the poor guy didn't even see what I suggested. He ended up with at least seven different renderings of that prop, before I was satisfied. ;)

ArkenbergeJoe provided his experience in the UI modding again, and he created the GLR track overlay textures. The reward and automata scripts were written by GoaSkin once again, and I was responsible for creating the lot, and the final touches, such as the doors, which are timed props that open and close each morning and evening. Swamper77 and vester_DK from the BSC helped us with the museum tram that can be used in UDI mode as well. As you can see from the pictures, there are two different lots, of which you can build one, once the reward conditions are fulfilled.

SFBT Gasthaus Maria (Maria's Inn) (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=924) by Mathe Man

Mathe Man started this building as a step-by-step BAT tutorial in the German SimForum, and I must say it was very interesting to see how a BAT is created from scratch, how the different tools are used to create walls, windows, textures, nightlights and all the small details. The result turned out extremely well, and everyone who has been to southern Germany or the alpine countries once should recognize this type of building. It's a bed & breakfast inn, featuring a nice beer garden in the backyard. And if you've ever been to a Bavarian beer garden, you know that the majestic horse chestnut trees play an important role by casting their shadow on the thirsty customers. The chestnut tree was BATted by Cycledogg esp. for this lot just before he left for his summer vacation, so I owe him a big thank you for that. :)

SFBT Rail Catenaries (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=925) by Kenworth

Probably one of the most anticipated SFBT creations has now finally hit the SC4D LEX: A (more or less) complete set of rail catenaries, BATted by SFBT newcomer Kenworth after the catenaries that are used by the Deutsche Bahn AG (German railway). This set includes 17 different lots that can be plopped next to or directly onto your rail tracks, giving them a completely new look. All lots have a transparent base texture, so they should work well with every terrain mod. I suggest to install either the "No Rail Dirt Mod" by Swamper77 and Pegasus, or the "Alternate Railway Texture Mod" by Pegasus, so you can get rid of the ugly dirt patches below your rails. Along with this set, I'm also developing a mod that places the catenaries automatically when dragging rails, but I didn't have the chance to finish the mod yet (and it will take a while, since I'm always busy...).

any help / idea to get rid off??

This is the infamous Watertexturebug since the base texture of these lots is transparent.

Going to zoneview and back should solve the problem.

Another possible solution would be not using the alternate rail mod, deleting the overlay texture and adding a brown base texture in the LE for all lots

Post by: Andreas on June 29, 2007, 06:28:31 AM
Yeah, this is one of the minor drawbacks - and also the reason why we didn't make more lots transit enabled. Apart from the fact that they would act like small railway stations (not that bad since you can set the capacity pretty high), your railways would look horrible after laying some pipes and returning back from the underground view.

Post by: Diggis on June 29, 2007, 07:37:11 AM
Just a quick question.  When you do the Catenaries to come on automatically on the lines, are you planning on having it on all train lines?  Or are you using the puzzel piece trick to allow us to dictate what lines it will be on?
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on June 29, 2007, 08:27:27 AM
I'm planning to do a mod that works similar as the Stree Tree Mods, so the catenaries will appear automatically. With some careful planning it will be even possible to create some tracks with and some without catenaries, since the cantenary props will stay, even if you remove the actual mod file. They will only disappear again if you work close to the tracks or click with the railway tool on them.

It's been a while since the last release since I was rather tied up with RL, but finally, I had some time to update and upload more SFBT files to the LEX... :)

SFBT Street Tree Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1196) by Andreas

When jeronij was showcasing his Streetside Mod, I fell in love with it immediately. However, it had some features that I didn't like that much, so I created a similar mod, but with a different focus. My main goal was to make the mod as modular as possible, that's why I compiled several tree prop families with various tree props by Cycledogg and Pegasus, as well as the original Maxis trees. You can either select one of the prop families, or use them together.

This mod was by far the most work-intensive I had created so far, and although I'd like to create a seasonal version one day, my free time didn't allow that until now. I haven't forgotten about the idea, though, so it might be created eventually some day. For the release at the LEX, I made a small update to the mod, though; I included a file that adds trees to the diagonal streets that you can create with the NAM (by drawing regular streets in a zig-zag pattern). It is based on an alpha mod that smoncrie once posted in a thread at ST, but which never got finished. So if you have that file, please delete it if you want to use the one that is contained in the SFBT Street Tree Mod.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg529.imageshack.us%2Fimg529%2F912%2Fsfbtstreettreemod1du7.jpg&hash=f951b3e836e80fed422d77d21ef6809fba7db83c)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg529.imageshack.us%2Fimg529%2F117%2Fsfbtstreettreemod5ko1.jpg&hash=37f143f6a5c8ca4ef91cf2c070db34a86c13e16e)

SFBT Diagonal Filler Lots (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1197) by T Wrecks

I already showcased the diagonal fillers in the "Upcoming SFBT BATs and lots" thread, so there's probably not much to tell about them. Actually, I wanted to upload these lots months ago, but I also wanted to wait until Cycledogg's Mega Prop Pack got uploaded to the LEX, so this release was a bit delayed - sorry about that.

Anyway, this set provides a solution for numerous occasions where a diagonal road or any diagonal development shows one of the downsides of the game - the square grid and the ugly jagged edges that come with this. There are more than 20 lots included that can be used with virtually any zone; however the set concentrates on agricultural and industrial zones in particular. It makes use of the huge resources of diagonal props in Cycledogg's and jestarr's prop packs, so you'll need those as a depencency.

Another key dependency is the SFBT Street Tree Mod (see above), since the type of trees that shows up on the lot depends on the tree prop file(s) that you have installed with the Street Tree Mod. The mod uses prop families, so two lots never look the same. T Wrecks also created an MML lot for this set, so it won't clog your park menu. If you want to place huge amounts of diagonal fillers, you can also move out the MML lot temporarily from your plugins folder without affecting the filler lots at all.

Yes, you can replace jeronij's mod with this one, just make sure to delete all files that are related to the mod, and after the installation, you have to click on all your streets with the street tool in order to make the trees from this mod appear.

Reading the comments at the download, it seems it is not compatable with SAM.      :'(    Have you looked at making it compatable.     I'm just now really getting into SAM and guess I'll just have to wait till I can use them together.    ()sad()

Well, you can still use the Street Tree Mod with the SAM installed, but obviously, there won't show up any trees on the streets that you create with the SAM starter puzzle pieces. An extension for the SAM would be nice, but it's a lot of work, and free time for modding is something that I don't really have at the moment.

Oh so it isn't a conflict.   One isn't gonna keep the other from working.    Well that's kool then.    That means yes to diagonal fillers.    ;D

I am so looking forward to using the diagonal set, I use them alot in Atlantis and try to do what I can to cover the edges, and these would be just perfect so thank you for the work on them.

SAM will eventually contain T21's for the streets, but we figured getting the textures done for them first is a priority.  Once each of the texture sets are done, then we will be moving on to T21's

It should be possible, with the SAM textures, to refer to the same T21 exemplars that are already included in the street tree mod...

Jeronij has already started on a streetside Mod of the SAM textures, not sure how he is going in it but there were pics in the SAM thread.

The "Plattenbauten" (prefabricated buildings made out of concrete slabs) have become some sort of identification mark for the former German Democratic Republic (GDR, or Deutsche Demokratische Republik, DDR, in German). Built mainly in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, they were intended to satisfy the immense demand for residential buildings that are affordable for everyone. Due to the prefabrication and a layout based on common blueprints, they could be erected in only a few days and in nearly every combination and height.

Both Ch. P. (BATs) and ArkenbergeJoe (lots) live near Berlin, Germany, so these "Plattenbauten" are a common sight in their area. The model that was chosen for the SFBT PreFabs is actually located in Ch. P.'s hometown Neuruppin. Many of them have been renovated and also attract medium-wealth occupants now, but since they were originally designed for the common worker, they were designated as R-$ in SimCity.

When the discussion about the mega lots came up, ArkenbergeJoe developed a series of large lots that were integrated into a common theme. The idea was to provide the players with a set of lots that have similar sizes (4x5, 5x4, 5x5) in different density and stage levels. The result was a package of nine individual sets of lots, each three for low, medium and high density. With the continuous growth of a city, the low-density lots can upgrade into medium density and later high density development, just like it might happen in real life. The design of all lots are based on typical suburbs both in west and east Germany.

The first set features tree different series of lots with allotments and dachas, the second set consistes of stephenhh's 50's residential estates complexes, whereas the third set makes use of Ch. P.'s excellent pre-fab buildings that have been uploaded a few days ago. Note: Please make sure to install those as well if you want to use the Plattenbau complexes, otherwise you will get brown boxes.

Im sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm confused. I already have the residential astates buildings for a mega lot from the STEX. Are these updates? Should I reinstall them?

They look awesome in-game though, we also have plenty of these monsters in the Netherlands :)
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on October 15, 2007, 07:41:02 AM
The lots are basically the same as the ones from the STEX, the only thing that has changed is the installation path (they were a bit messy so I sorted them out), and the lots now feature some BTE occupant groups that can serve as a trigger for future rewards etc. Also updated are the LTEXT files with the names and the installers, they feature both German and English captions now. There's no need to upgrade them if you already have the version from the STEX, though.

Today's uploads are a mixed bag of old and new residential buildings, some are well-known, and some of them haven't been released to the English community before.

Von Purand House by Ch. P. (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1249)

This was the very first BAT attempt from Ch. P., BATter of the well-known SFBT Pre-Fab buildings. Although the saturation of the textures is a bit high, it turned out quite well. The description text in the readme file is obviously a parody of the typical real-estate agency flyers. ;)

HaDiKo Dormitory by Spocky (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1250)

The HaDiKo dormitory is a dormitory building of the Hans-Dickmann-Kolleg (college) in Karlsruhe, Germany. It it somewhat unique since the students administer the whole building themselves, and they also set up their own fiber optics high-speed network. Apart from a growable R-$ version, the download also contains a ploppable library version, which could serve as a nice educational supplement for any college campus.

Punkthaus by Spocky (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1251)

The Punkthaus (literally translated "dot house", meaning that several flats are grouped around a central core with stairs and elevators) was created after a real-life counterpart in Spocky's hometown Plauen, Germany. It was built in the 70's and renovated in the 90's, now featuring a blue-ish glass facade. For some more variety, a red and a yellow version is included as well.

Brause Apartments by Stolloss (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1252)

The Brause Apartments don't have a fancy architecture and are intended as a filler for mid- to highrise developments. One of the lots features storefront props at the ground floor to simulate some small stores, as it is common in many parts of the world.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg525.imageshack.us%2Fimg525%2F8774%2Fwohnhausbrause01sm2.jpg&hash=5f28cc7867637f950b28f5df75e3413efffcdbdc) (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg525.imageshack.us%2Fimg525%2F2116%2Fwohnhausbrause02ky1.jpg&hash=318b2f4a30a9fb25a7109225e23f9d17f2c7f840)

NVG Towers by Stolloss (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1253)

Apart from many Hong Kong/Asia BAT Team highrises, R-$$ towers are somewhat rare to find, therefore, Stollos created a typical highrise like it could be found in many cities throughout Germany and other parts of Europe. There are three color variants included, the game will select between them automatically whenever an NVG Tower lot is growing.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg85.imageshack.us%2Fimg85%2F8612%2Fnvgwohnhaus01er9.jpg&hash=283d8648315a759c09bd5f4314f8635e2fb89e14) (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg85.imageshack.us%2Fimg85%2F2425%2Fnvgwohnhaus02wc1.jpg&hash=18a9daae141e1ee4a95bf8f1ecb4976367955829)

Stollhouse by Stolloss (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1254)

European homes tend to be a bit more colorful than their US counterparts, and single family detached homes like the Stollhouse can be found basically everywhere in Germany. The download contains six different color variants which will be randomly chosen by the game - for your convenience, we placed the pink model in a separate DAT file, so you can remove it if you can't stand pink. ;) All color variants feature two different building models, so the set contains a total of twelve different buildings that grow on three different lot sizes.

SFBT Park Set Sand Paths by Khiyana (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1354)

Khiyana is one of the newest SFBT members, but she already set the bar higher by creating a wonderful new park set that spreads over more than 30 different lots. Although there are quite a few park sets out there already, this is different from the others and features some fresh ideas that I haven't seen so far, such as integrated parking lots, a nice chess game, and transition lots between other park sets and the in-game streets. I think it's the most dependency-intensive SFBT creation so far, but nearly all dependencies are well-known, and as an avid BSC fan, you should have installed them anyway.

I just noticed it on the LEX, that will be a must download for me!

But the reason I'm posting here is because of 2 other SFBT releases. In my MD I've been using the SFBT feldwege and asphaltwege from your German SFBT site. I have had a lot (and I do really mean a lot) questions about where I got these from. I don't know if you are the creator Andreas, but if you are..I think you would please a lot of SC4Devotionists with uploading these two wege files on the LEX as well. They truly are excellent, like all the rest of the SFBT work! Thanks to many SFBT creations I could create a medieval MD, so I thank you!

Just a suggestion, I hope you could think about it. Until then I will continue to redirect people to the SFBT site :)

Keep up the good work!!

The Feldwege and Asphaltwege have been created by T Wrecks, and can be found here (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=464) and here (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=465), respectively. I already asked T Wrecks for a translation, but he's rather busy with RL at the moment, so it won't happen too soon. However, he's willing to translate them, once he has some more time, and then I will upload them to the LEX as well. The readme file is rather extensive, that's why it takes a bit longer than usual, and I don't exactly have loads of free time as well, otherwise I'd do it myself. ;)

Thanks for your reply Andreas, it's good to hear that their release was already planned on the LEX. Time...ah if only my German would have been better (I always scored a 3 out of 10 in high school on german) I would have offered to translate the read me. I've been enjoying many of the creations from simcityplaza.de, many of which I hope to see on the LEX some day..

Would you be so kind to forward my compliments to T wrecks? I've been looking at the feldwege in LE, man...that must have been quite some work placing every stone!!!

Adreas: if it's ok with you I will translate that text to English, I have some time to spare.  ;)
I can have it ready by tomorrow afternoon for sure or maybe tonight even.
It's a small thing in return to all the SFBT lot's that are in my city's.

Let me know.

If you want to give it a try, please go ahead. :) Just one thing: Don't use Word as HTML editor, it will screw up the files beyond repair. When you're done, send the files to andreas (at) simcityplaza (dot) de.

Andreas: A slight missunderstanding perhaps, I can translate [German->Dutch->Englisch] but my html skills are non excistant.  :(
I'm a quick learner *cough* but I'm sure I can't make an official readme within 24 hours.  $%Grinno$%

Never mind, just copy the text and send me a text file instead. :) You only need to translate the description, the rest is the same in most readme files anyway, so I can simply copy it from somewhere else (as a matter of fact, I do that all the time  :P ).

SFBT Signalboxes by Spocky (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1357)

Back in 2004, Spocky, one of the SFBT members, started BATting, and among his very first BATs were two small signalboxes, like they are common along a railway line for controlling switches and signals. Today, modern technology is controlling the railway equipment, but back in the old days, signalmen were in charge of this task, and quite often, they lived in a small house, right next to a railway crossing. Recently, Spocky created a third house, the signalman's house, which is an abandoned shed that fits in very well in any rural settings. I updated the lots of the two other BATs, which haven't been released in the English community so far. Some of the images below still show the old lots, so have a look at the new ones in the game. :)

SFBT Bus Stops by Khiyana (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1359)

There are many different bus stops out there for SC4, but I guess everyone agrees with me that the variety of different bus stops in real life is astounding, ranging from a simple sign to large bus yards with extensive shelters, waiting rooms and whatnot. Khiyana created a bus shelter model that looks a lot like those concrete shelters that were put up in the 60's and 70's in Germany, and most likely in the rest of the world as well. They collected some dirt, and maybe also moss on the roof, usually have ads attached to the shelter, and sometimes also feature a ticket vending machine.

These two lots were mainly intended for the proper looks of a Plattenbau quarter, but they will fit in nicely in a variety of other occasions as well. One lot has a dirt patch behind the shelter, "decorated" with some trash, while the other use the in-game sidewalk texture for a more urban setting. Both the bus stop shelter and the sign have been assigned to prop families, so each time you plop a lot, it will look a bit different.

Love this little "history lesson" in SFBT.. :)  SFBT does some great work and seems to have a talent for finding "niche markets" which just fill in nicely where these is not much at the time..

Just dl'd the park trails set.. and even used em in a city already.. R$ one.. hehe.. looks good.. Got some of your MML lots too.. even tho they are sometimes in Germain I can usually figure out what they do.. wish my German were as good as your English.. lol

Good work...

@SC4BOY: Thanks! We do indeed fill some niches that have been left out by other developers, and of course our main goal is to make the game looking more German (or European in general) - but I guess our work surely has quite a few fans from all around the world as well. :)

@RandyGamer: MML Mods for all SFBT Park Sets can be found in the German version of the BSC SFBT MML Mod download. If you don't mind the German installer, feel free to download it here (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=471). The MML mods for the SFBT Park Sets are bilingual, as all newer SFBT releases, so they will show up in English in your game. I'm still planning to release an updated MML Mod package at the LEX some day, but RL is keeping me quite busy at the moment, thus leaving not much time for an update.

im just posting to ask a quick question.

is there a newer ver. of the roadtop mass transit modd? i'm using v2.0 atm, and am wondering if i missed something. i am using the euro street modd, and with the RTMT  they don't exaclty match in texture. as u know the euro modd has a white dotted line, while the RTMT has a yellow line. looks kinda odd to me, so i'm just wondering if there was a newer version out.
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on December 09, 2007, 11:36:27 AM
I don't use any Road Top Mass Transit stations, so I don't know which textures are included there. The Euro road textures in the ERTM haven't changed since the last version, though. Maybe you should try to contact the creator of the Road Top Mass Transit stations and ask for some Euro textures, if there aren't any available at the moment. As far as I know, there are several different releases of such stations, maybe you should try to find one that has Euro textures included. If someone wants to create Euro textures for such lots that only have US textures, feel free to submit them to me, so I can include them in the ERTM as well.

SFBT Historic Tram Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1428) by Andreas

I had the idea for this station shortly after the June 2007 NAM was released. Taking Mathe Mans historic tram station shelter and some other props, I created a tram station for the GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces. For some reason, the lot never got released, but with the NAM January 2008 Update being published, I remembered that I still had the station in my test folder. Like the other GLR-in-Avenue stations, it doesn't need any extra space except for a 2x2 tile area on the puzzle pieces.

I set the capacity fairly high (5,000 passengers), so it won't get over capacity too fast in busy city centers. Also integrated is a bus stop (thanks to Kenworth for the nice bus stop sign!), which makes the station a nice downtown facility - esp. if you're using one of the historic building sets, such as the Paris buildings by Porkissimo and xannepan. Thanks to a special transit enabling, this lot is also not affected by the crash to desktop bug that is triggered when you hover a puzzle piece over a TE lot.

SFBT Victorian Rail Viaduct Stations (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1430) by ArkenbergeJoe

For a very long time, GoaSkin's modded station from simrolle's S-Bahn Set was the only station for the elevated (heavy) rail puzzle pieces. Most likely, the pieces never were too popular, since they always looked too "weak" for trains, freight trains in particular. ArkenbergeJoe changed this finally with the new Rail Viaduct models for the elevated rail puzzle pieces, and apart from three different texture sets, he also converted morifari's wonderful Victorial El-Rail station into a Rail Viaduct station. The red brick texture style was especially made to complement morifari's station, as you can see in the picture below. But of course, the station will work with any texture style. Included are two lots for both the orthogonal and diagonal versions of morifari's original stations, which are needed as external dependency (apart from the NAM, including the new NAM Update).

Leave a gap of two tiles before building the station - later drag just two tiles (see yellow field on the right picture) - the station appears to be larger but is overhanging

It's been a while since the last release, but I've been quite busy in the meantime. :) Here's a little Easter surprise that I have shown briefly a while ago. :)

SFBT Rail Texture Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1564) by Andreas

I'm sure most of you have noticed that Maxis made the in-game rail textures for the zoom levels 1 to 4 brighter than the zoom level 5 textures. This becomes apparent when you're using lots with custom rail textures, such as those that NorthCountryDude has created, and also the Network Addon Mod. Those textures are significantly darker in zoom 1 to 4, and it looks rather ugly in most cases. That's why I created a mod that darkens the in-game rail textures, so there's no color shift anymore. It was quite tedious to search and extract all about 80 different Maxis rail textures, but I'd say it was worth the effort. :)

Now that I had extracted the Maxis rail textures, plus the same amount of alpha maps, I had another idea - I remembered an old mod that smoncrie started ages ago at Simtropolis, where he also posted a preliminary alpha version. The mod included wealth-dependent textures for the RCI zones, so if you draw a rail line through a low density residential zone, the dirt texture below the rails would turn into grass - and in high density commercial zones, you'd get concrete instead. The mod never got finished, though, and we were stuck with just two textures: straight and diagonal.

Swamper77 also created a mod that removed the ugly dirt texture, but unfortunately, it removed the texture entirely, including agricultural zones and landfills. So I decided to finish what smoncrie once had in mind and processed all rail textures for the three wealth levels, both as grass texture and as concrete texture. If you don't like the concrete in medium and high density residential and commercial zones, you can also choose to install the grass textures only. Rural areas still have the dirt, and industrial areas will always get grass textures, as well as rails next to ploppable lots. Together with the darkened rail textures, I think the overall appearance is much better now. :)

Due to time constraints, the new SFBT releases are rather delayed, but I finally managed to package some new items - and more will follow soon, this time for real. ;)

SFBT Semaphore Signals Prop Pack (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1714) by royal

royal, one of the railway experts in the SFBT, has been creating a huge amount of rail signals. The first pack is a set of classic semaphore signals, more sets with modern signals are in the making right now and will be released later. The semaphore signals have been a typical view in Germany and other European countries for decades, and although most of them have been replaced by electric light signals, you can still find them along rural railways throughout the country. This prop pack contains a total of 92 different props, with distant (approach) signals and main signals, virtually all of them rendered in different rotations (orthogonal and diagonal), as well as offset versions that can be placed on lots next to railway tracks.

SFBT Ahrweiler Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1715) by royal

Ahrweiler is a beautiful town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, located in the Ahr river valley, which is famous for its great red wines. royal often visits his grandmother, who lives in that region, by train, so he knows that station very well. This download contains three lots, one with the historic station building, and two train stops that just have platforms, with different lot sizes. All lots feature the aforementioned semaphore signals, but if you prefer a more modern look in your city, you don't need to install the prop pack, which means that the signals won't be displayed in that case.

SFBT Commuter Stations (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1716) by Kenworth

Kenworth is one of the other SFBT rail experts, and he was BATting some German train stations as well, this time from the Leipzig area in Germany, where he lives. The set contains five commuter train (S-Bahn) stations, each one modeled after real-life stations as well. Two of the stations were especially designed for the NAM overpasses, they feature an escalator prop that fits perfectly to the rail viaducts or road puzzle pieces. The elevators are merely eyecandy, but they surely look great, I'd say! Another two stations have parking lots and also feature an integrated bus station, they are intended for rural areas, where more room is available. Only the stations with parking lots accept commuters that arrive by car, but they also serve as bus stations, which makes them perfect for "park & ride".

As I said, more new stuff will follow soon, including an updated version of the SFBT Essentials, so please make sure that you have the latest version if you want to use the upcoming downloads!

Hi Andreas,

They look pretty special to me.  And I can't wait to see the stations with the overpasses.  The small picture looks like you have the entrance to the station on a road bridge over the rails.  I have wanted to see this for such a long time.  So many stations in the outer London area are like that.  And funnily at the BSC Euro meet last week Diggis, JBSimio, Arne and I were talking about just such a station and whether it was possible.  So what great timing!

I look forward to downloading these.  I assume they are, or will be on the LEX?

Regards and thanks to the SFBT team for this great piece of work.

Paul

BSC SFBT GLR Tram Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=879)

First of all, I'm sorry that it took so incredible long to finish this download, but I know that a lot of people were waiting for this: New GLR-in-Avenue stations, and GLR stations for the GLR-in-Avenue Roundabout! All credits go to Chrisim for this update of the good old BSC SFBT GLR Tram Mod, which has always been some kind of "trendsetter" around GLR. :) Please note that you also need the updated SFBT Essentials July 2008 version for this download. The Essentials contain a new GLR resource file with paths and textures for various GLR stations, which can be used by other developers as a dependency file as well. This release won't show on the LEX frontpage, since the original download was updated, so please use the link above.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg99.imageshack.us%2Fimg99%2F6781%2Fglraveregular1go7.jpg&hash=d6dfe3234c5a10af78969622f0b73a7e115e4024)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg99.imageshack.us%2Fimg99%2F4790%2Fglraveroundabout1fk0.jpg&hash=95236d6c5f0c41d092698d13f429e997db0692d0)

SFBT Essentials July 2008 version (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=750)

As mentioned above, the updated GLR Tram Mod also requires an updated version of the SFBT Essentials. This update is also necessary for some more SFBT releases that will be uploaded soon. Since I updated this file as well, it won't show on the LEX frontpage, so please use the link I provided above. :) Some of you might remember my tree prop families that were included in the SFBT Street Tree Mod, which allows you to display different trees along the street, depending on which file(s) you have installed. Since several other SFBT releases make use of this feature as well, I included the tree props in the new SFBT Essentials version. If you have the tree prop families installed already, you won't need to do that again. Also, if you like to see Cycledogg's or PEG's trees on the aforementioned lots, don't forget to install the external dependencies.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg528.imageshack.us%2Fimg528%2F6938%2Fsfbtessentialsgq2.jpg&hash=0a8df4b3072fd9b9764d38a35022f49cf40c7f61)

As usual, please make sure to read the updated readme files, in order to see what's new!

Thank you very much SFBT!  ;D

I have a question though... can I remove the trams (the automata) or should they be installed? I just prefer one of Vester's mods in that regard.

So, would it be safe for me to remove the following files:

BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_automata_blue.dat
BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_automata_green.dat
BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_automata_red.dat
BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_automata_yellow.dat
BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_no_el-train_automata.dat
BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_ui_sound_automata_controller.dat

Or what can I remove, if anything?

Thanks
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on July 29, 2008, 10:44:05 AM
You can remove the automata files (BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_automata_blue.dat etc.), but they won't interfere with any of vester's automata skins. The tram automata that is generated with this download is not the regular el-rail (GLR) automata, but custom automata that is spawned by the lots, similar to the school bus that is spawned by educational facilities. With the BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_no_el-train_automata.dat, you can suppress the el-rail automata (or any custom automata that is installed), but the BSC_SFBT_glr_light_rail_ui_sound_automata_controller.dat should be installed in any case, since it includes the query sounds and UI files. It also contains the automata spawn script, but if you remove the automata files, you simply won't see the colored trams.

SFBT Rheinsberg Signalbox (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1725) by royal

The Rheinsberg signalbox is a good companion to Spocky's signalboxes that were released a while ago -and another nice element for more realistic railway lines. As one of the last mechanical signalboxes, it's some kind of anachronism these days, but surely a nice view for every rural MD. royal BATted this a while ago, and it laid dormant for some months, but now we finally had the chance to resurrect it from the dead and make it a proper SFBT release. :)

SFBT Parking Lots (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1726) by Khiyana

This set has gone a long way - originally a small personal project that Khiyana made for one of her cities, it drew quite some attention at SimForum, and lots of useful suggestions were made to expand this little set. For maximum compatibility, there are three texture sets for various kinds of sidewalk mods, and the trees are interchangable as well, so you can use the lots together with either the Maxis, Cycledogg's or Pegasus' trees. The bus station has undergone several re-designs, until the proper shape and size was found, so it doesn't look too small or too large. Please don't forget to update your copy of the SFBT Essentials, you need the July 2008 version for the latest props and textures!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg263.imageshack.us%2Fimg263%2F4766%2Fparkplatz01uk1.jpg&hash=1c4c1a63ea913bdd2e49d9c587f055916087d2cd)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg263.imageshack.us%2Fimg263%2F9417%2Fparkplatz02gb1.jpg&hash=d815f53c34909724d89c85cbb71f8da43e6aa431)

SFBT Soundwalls (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1727) by Mathe Man

Another set that has undergone a rather complicated creation process, with lots of finetuning for maximum versatility. It also uses the SFBT tree family props, so you can use your favorite trees on the lots. Since the whole set consists of 19 lots, it contains an optional MML mod that is installed at the usual location. If you want, you can also remove the transition lots for the curves and use the centered diagonal walls together with the orthogonals. The walls come in two variations, either flat or curved at the top, so you can reduce the number of lots even more if you restrict yourself to either one of the styles. As with the parking lots, don't forget to update your SFBT Essentials to the latest July 2008 version!

Update notice

ebina found a glitch in the transit enabling for the Ahrweiler Station. I've fixed the issue and re-uploaded the file to the LEX. I also missed one dependency in the readme for the Parking Lots. You need Cycledogg's Mega Prop Pack for the parked cars (no need to re-download this set, though). Sorry for the inconvenience.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg157.imageshack.us%2Fimg157%2F4424%2Foberleitungen1px5.jpg&hash=fb20ba6300fb0d39d76cffea231f9729066db836)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg157.imageshack.us%2Fimg157%2F8859%2Foberleitungen2rf4.jpg&hash=73f8b72dd7609e8aa76c616d6b1e1116be1ca5f1)
I have to admit that I haven´t been following this thread too closely, but I still wonder if there has been any progress on the automatic placement of catenaries?
I tried to look on the LEX, but I could only find the ploppable ones there.
One thing I noticed with the ploppable catenaries is that one can´t plant trees on them like FFs catenaries for instance.
This leaves a gap between the buildings and the tracks that doesn´t look quite nice.
Other than that I like them very much.
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on August 08, 2008, 10:27:59 AM
No, unfortunately, I didn't have time to finish the mod for automatic placement so far, and at the moment, I doubt that I ever will find enough time and dedication for this project.  &mmm  The sheer amount of junctions and curves makes it extra hard to create T21 exemplar files for them, and if you run four or more parallel tracks (two tiles and more), as it is common around large stations, the result might look extremely weird. I think the reason why you cannot place trees on those lots is because they don't have a base texture.

Ok, thanks for Your quick reply!

I´ll just try to mess with them in LE then and see if I can add a decent base for the Rails.
I did it for the GLR for a city of mine, so I suppose it should be fairly simple.
Thanks for Your contributions so far Andreas!

Hi Andreas, I'm having a small problem with the soundwalls. I have installed them correctly along with the SFBT essentials (July 2008) as it says in the readme file. Most props show up but one prop doesn't, and I am guessing that perhaps a tree prop is missing from the essentials pack or something.

Here is a picture to show what I mean:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi284.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll21%2FGenuine_Intrepid%2FSim%2520City%25204%2FSFBT_SOUNDWALLS_MISSING_PROPS.png&hash=03d46cc4ee7b9b92019875167dc6fb18e35c3eaf)

Edit to add: Sorry, I hadn't realised that I had forgot to install Pegs MTP dependancy for the SFBT Essentials.

Just ignore this post. :-[
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on August 15, 2008, 11:51:31 AM
On a side note, you don't need to install any dependencies just for the tree prop files that are included in the SFBT Street Tree Mod (and that are now included in the SFBT Essentials, since they were used for quite some lots already). Simply uninstall/unselect all Cycledogg/PEG tree prop families, then the lots will show only the regular Maxis trees. :)

SFBT's newest member, voltaic, has shown an incredible talent with his first BATs, taking into account that he creates 3D models since quite a few years. Being from Switzerland, his first three releases are some Swiss farms - making them the first I-R releases by the SFBT. :) voltaic modeled them after real examples, or photos that he found in the net. All three lots share the same texture and prop resources, so they should look fine together. There's one lot for each of the three farming stages, which should give you a nice variety as well. The stats have been balanced with the X-Tool. Also included in each download is a ploppable landmark lot with jobs, so you can create proper European villages that usually have the farm buildings within the community border, whereas the fields are outside the village. Enjoy! :)

Hi

First I just want to say your creations are all much appreciated  &apls! The question I had though was with the Anger-Crottendorf embankment station - do you know how I can lose the 'no road connection' zot without dragging a road up to the height of the station?

Thanks
Andrew

Post by: Andreas on October 23, 2008, 04:19:48 PM
You have to be a bit creative when using this station - I guess I should have explained that better in the readme file. ;) The "no car access" zot appears because it provides some civic jobs. Use the green grass pedmall tile on the embankment, and place a bus or subway station next to it, like it is shown in the first pic. The former will remove the zot, since it connects the station to the road network, and the bus stop will provide access for the commuters, at is it shown in the second pic. Other configurations might be possible as well, such as creating an "invisible" bus stop that looks exactly like the grass pedmall (a lot with transit switch properties and just a green base texture). If you need the station just for eyecandy, you can leave out the bus stop, though.

SFBT Tree Replacement Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1901) by Andreas

Although Cycledogg already created a similar mod (or a set of mods, actually), I always thought some of his trees were too large, compared to the Maxis ones, and therefore looked out of place in certain situations. So I made a test lot with all Cycledogg trees and all Maxis trees and compared the sizes and picked those Cylcedogg trees that seemed to fit best for the various Maxis trees. Replacing the Maxis palms wasn't that easy as well, since the best looking tree that Cycledogg made was rendered offset (and even hovering a bit in the air ;) ), but thankfully, Chrisim edited the S3D model manually, so it would fit in perfectly into the dirt circles.

This mod will replace all Maxis trees "on the fly", this means that you don't have to bulldoze or re-plop anything, however, you will get brown boxes immediately if you don't have all dependencies. So make sure to install Cycledogg's tree models and prop packs as well. Apart from the trees on the lots, the ploppable Mayor Mod and the God Mode trees are replaced as well, including the flora props that grow over the time, and the Maxis street trees (but not the trees that are added with the various street tree mods, or any non-Maxis trees on custom lots).

SFBT Light Signals (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1902) by royal

Following the mechanical semaphore signals that were released some time ago, royal also created a prop pack with modern German light signals. This package is pretty extensive, it contains almost 150 individual props, since most signals are available as orthogonal and diagonal versions, including offset-rendered props. As usual, the prop pack doesn't contain any lots, so this is mainly intended for upcoming SFBT lots, and for lot builders who want to create their own railway-related lots.

SFBT Railway Props (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1903) by Kenworth and royal

Yet another prop pack, containing more than 40 different German railway props, such as various engines, freight and passenger cars, and a few additional catenaries etc. You might know the "Regio Runner" bi-level cars already, as they were converted into automata by Swamper77 a while ago. Everything else has been created over the last few months, and with some luck, you might see more of the models as automata, depending on automata modder's free time. The props will be used heavily on a set of upcoming SFBT lots, so watch the LEX for those.

SFBT Passenger Car Sidings (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1904) by Praiodan

Some lots of this set have been made a long time ago mainly for private use and where shown in various MDs. People kept asking about them, so we decided to expand the set and release it finally. Praiodan created a total of 16 different lots with various sizes, some of them featuring the SFBT Catenary props, so people can create electrified railway scenarios as well.

All lots can visually connect to your railway tracks, but they are not transit enabled, meaning that trains can't go through them (which would be a bit pointless anyway ;) ). The icons should give you an idea about the layout of the tracks, and all lots are sorted by size in the menu. If you don't want to install all of them, you can also use any given number and delete the rest (i. e. if you don't use the catenaries, simply remove the ones that are labeled "_elektrifiziert" (electrified). The electrified lots are marked with an "e" in the icon.

SFBT Freight Car Sidings (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1905) by Praiodan

Like the passenger car sidings, this set contains a whopping 19 different lots with freight cars in different configurations. The handling is exactly the same as with the passenger car lots, except that the background of the icons is green instead of red. There is one lot that is "drive-through" enabled, this is mentioned in the menu description, but the rest is only visually network enabled as well.

The lots will look very nice next to larger railyards (see below) or stations, but you can also use them to assemble a modular railyard of your own. They are pure eye-candy, this means they don't provide any jobs nor cap relief, and they don't use power or water, nor do they have any pollution. The maintenance cost is kept rather low, so unless you don't use hundreds of them in a very small city, it shouldn't have much impact on your budget.

SFBT Railyard (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1906) by royal

In contrary to the lots above, this is a huge, 18x6 tiles railyard that functions as a freight railway station with a capacity of 10,000 in the game. For an SFBT lot, it's a bit heavy on the dependency side (10 dependencies in total), but the dependencies are either very common or they will be used by other SFBT rail-related lots as well, so they will serve a large set of lots at the same time. Additional rail lots may follow in the future, in order to get the max out of Kenworths and royals wonderful props. :)

Hello Andreas. The street tree replacement mod. Does this replace the older SFBT street tree mod that I've have in my plugins?

The SFBT Tree Replacement Mod is completely separate from the SFBT Street Tree Mod. What the Tree Replacement Mod does is replacing all Maxis trees models with Cycledogg's tree models, this means all in-game prop and flora exemplar files have been modified to display the Cycledogg models instead of the Maxis models.

The Street Tree Mod, however, introduces new prop exemplar files that make use of prop families; this means that depending on the prop DAT file that is installed, the game will show different trees (similar to the concept for the various BSC Park Set path textures). Since I created new exemplar files for the Street Tree Mod, the Tree Replacement Mod won't affect those at all.

If you want, you can use both mods together, and despite of the tree replacement feature, you can use different trees along your streets this way. Also, since my Street Tree Mod does not cover the SAM streets yet (I found out that I'd have to modify over 1000 T21 exemplar files for this, so this is not an option at the moment  &mmm ), you can get rid of the Maxis palms along the SAM streets this way, they will be replaced by a nice looking Cycledogg maple tree. :)

Hi, I am using the "SFBT Parking Lots" including its bus stations and enjoy it a lot, thanks! However one think I don't like is that the bus stations don't "highlight in green" like the other stations when in traffic view, what makes very difficult to locate them.

Is there a way to activate that "green highlighting" on those stations?

Thank you!

The only way to do that is to use an actual model for the building, instead of the "invisible" building model. Andreas knows what I mean by this.

Also, the transit buildings will only be highlighted if you are using a specific dataview mod.

Post by: Swamper77 on March 26, 2009, 10:38:35 PM
Maxis uses a very tiny model on their park lots to avoid foundations from appearing where the buildings are. Many people use park lots as a base to make their own creations, so their lots inherit the "invisible" building which is a flat 2D model.

If the creator of the bus stop for the SFBT parking lots had used the Maxis bus stop as a base for their lot, then the building would show up with the highlight as it would be using the Maxis bus stop building.

As for the highlighting on the transit buildings, it sounds like Z used the DataView Modd RH (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/stexdetails.cfm?id=21306) as a base to highlight the transit stations in his traffic view. Tropod created this file long ago, shortly after Rush Hour came out.

Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on March 27, 2009, 06:27:37 AM
Well, actually, I don't like these highlighted green buildings, so I never noticed before. ;) But Swamper77 is right, it doesn't work because the bus station shelter is a prop, and not a model. If you haven't noticed it yet, there are several props that are included in a prop family, so a different one shows up each time you plop the lot. Civic lots don't support building families, though, so we had to use a prop family for that. However, when using the DataView Modd, the lots should show up as blue dots on your transportation map, and clicking on them centers them in the main city view.

Personally, I often use the built-in signs for marking the positions of my transit stations. During playing, I switch off the signs, but when I need to locate a specific station, I display the signs again, which makes it a lot easier to find those small lots within a concrete jungle. The signs even show in underground mode, so I can precisely locate my subway stations. This also helps a lot when building a new subway line - simply mark the cleared tiles with a sign, switch to undergrund mode, and plop the stations where you put up the signs, then connect them with subway tubes.

Thank you both.

Can you explain me which dataview modd will make appear them as blue dots. I am using the "Z traffic simulator" data view and I don't see the blue dots. Is there any way to activate them?

Thanks also for the advice about the signs. One thing I find annoying though is having to write the text on each sign, is there a way to mass copy and paste them?
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on March 27, 2009, 03:04:39 PM
The original mod by Tropod adds those blue dots, but apparently, z's mod doesn't. You'll have to ask him why he removed the feature, though.

As for the signs, I simply type in "u" for "underground" or something like this, this is quicker than adding a whole word. I agree that it's a bit inconvenient to manually type something, though.

Update notice

The following files have been updated in order to fix various bugs and issues, some of them also have new content, as following:

SFBT Essentials (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=750)

The SFBT Essentials have been updated to the March 2009 version. They include various new props by voltaic, as well as new GLR textures and paths for upcoming SFBT Tram stations. Make sure to install the update soon, otherwise, you won't be able to use the new releases that will be published soon.

GLR Tram Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=879)

chrisim fixed a TE bug that affected the GLR-in-Avenue station. Some people have reported that no trams were using the stations, this should have been fixed now. The ZIP file also contains some patches that will increase the capacity of the stations - install those into the GLR Tram Mod installation folder if you're using a radical Traffic Plugin (such as "Z Ultra").

Gasthaus Maria (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=924)

The growable lot had a bug that prevented it from growing. This has been fixed.

Historic Tram Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1428)

The Historic Tram Station had the same issue as the GLR Tram Mod. Apart from High Transit Capacity plugins, I also added a new diagonal tram station lot. Make sure to install the updated SFBT Essentials.

Ahrweiler Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1715)

Some people reported that their Sims didn't use the stations. I lowered the Transit Switch Entry Cost a bit, so they should work fine now.

Commuter Stations (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1716)

Some people reported that their Sims didn't use the stations. I lowered the Transit Switch Entry Cost a bit, so they should work fine now.

Whoops, you're right, I put the wrong file into the ZIP - I'll correct that in a second. But the actual props and textures are exactly the same, so you don't need to download the file again just for the readme. :)

SFBT Dentei Tram Stops (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2023) by chrisim

NOB's Dentei models are probably the oldest BATs that resembled a typical tram or light rail station. Back then, they were used on some rail lots and worked as passenger rail station, since the GLR weren't invented yet. NOB also created some transit enabled lots with rail textures that had  narrow curves and intersections, much like the more "modern" GLR puzzle pieces. Although lot designers used his models for various other lots, there was never a set that covered both the orthogonal and diagonal models, and there was esp. one station missing: a diagonal GLR-in-Avenue station.

Over the past few months, the knowledge about transit enabled lots and multifunctional stations has increased dramatically, rigid testing has been done by the RTMT Team and SFBT member chrisim in particular in order to weed out the remaining bugs with those stations. One slight bug remains, sometimes, emergency vehicles can't seem to pass the diagonal station, but otherwise, the functionality should be complete. The GLR-in-Avenue stations also serve as a bus station, the diagonal version has some (eye-candy) bus bays to represent this. Please make sure to update to the latest SFBT Essentials (released yesterday), otherwise you will have missing paths and textures.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg150.imageshack.us%2Fimg150%2F7831%2Fdenteistation.jpg&hash=e8e4808fe78429cc36e80c0ef06c0431b1c908e6)

SFBT Tram-in-Road Tram Stops (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2024) by chrisim

It's been a while since Tram-in-Road (T-RAM) has become available, and people were constantly asking for stations. As with the Dentei stations, there were still some bugs that had to be fixed, but after weeks of testing, those stations should be finally working as intended. This set contains three different sized stations, so there should be one for every situation. Use the 1x1 station for minimum blocking of residential zones and tram mods that only have one car, and the larger stations if you prefer the multiple car GLR trains.

Both the Dentei stations and this set feature special high capacity plugins that can be found inside the ZIP file that was uploaded. Those files have modified building exemplar files that multiply the capacity by a factor of about 3.5, use those if you're using a more radical Traffic Plugin (such as "Z Ultra") that increase the capacity of the transit networt notably. For each lot, there's one additional DAT, simply put those DATs into the installation folder manually, keeping the original lot file. Do not try to install a capacity mod if the original lot is not installed, this will lead to missing menu icons.

SFBT Roundabout Fillers (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2025) by voltaic

Roundabouts have become very popular among the NAM users (esp. those from Europe, I'd assume ;) ), so here are two roundabout fillers that fit in perfectly in the center tile of the 3x3 oneway road roundabout. They are designed after typical roundabouts that are common in the rural areas of Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Obviously, more designs are possible; if you don't like the flowers or want to use a different item in the center, feel free to edit those lots for your personal needs. The roundabout center prop can be found in the latest version of the SFBT Essentials, all objects that should be placed on this prop will have to be rised a bit in the Lot Editor.

SFBT Swiss Railway Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2029) by voltaic

This is a typical rural railway station, as it can be found in many Swiss villages and towns. There isn't really anything fancy about the lot, it just represents the typical charme of those stations. :)

Yet another BAT that was created by SFBT member voltaic, with the Swiss brand "Coop", which also owns a chain of supermarkets and home improvement stores. The download contains two different lots, both growable and ploppable versions.

SFBT ARAL Gas Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2031) by royal

The ARAL gas station has been available since quite some time at SimCityKurier, but for some reason, I didn't upload it to the LEX so far. So now here it is, and like the Coop station, the download also contains two versions of both growable and ploppable lots. A 1x1 ploppable lot with a large ARAL sign can be used to plop next to a highway exit or similar.

Hmm, I haven't seen this message ever before, but by any chance, are the dependency files in the plugins folder while you try to open the lot? Or maybe you set the lot file write-protected? Try removing all other custom content except for the dependencies and the lot file(s) that you want to edit from your plugins folder and see if the message still shows up.

The issue seems to be based on the version of the Lot Editor itself. The one that you get from SimCity.com can't open transit-enabled Lots while the one you get with the installation of SC4BAT can. The latter is found in a zip file after the installation of SC4BAT for GMAX. The version number of the one provided by the SC4BAT installation is 1.0.12.0.

SFBT Village Church (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2058) by voltaic

This small church was created by voltaic a while ago, based on a church in Czech Republic. The seasonal flora and the colorful nightlighting add a nice contrast to the otherwise rather uniform grey of the building, adding a nice touch in your rural areas.

SFBT Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2059) by Praiodan

Praiodan modeled this building after a real building in Cologne. While discussing the BAT at SimForum, we thought that it would make a great police headquarters, so it was modded with properties that are even higher than the deluxe police headquarters that comes with Rush Hour, covering a good part of a large city (with adjusted properties, of course). The dispatch radius has been increased as well, so it should work better to fight back the "large lot crime bug" that the game is suffering from.

SFBT Frohnau Radio Tower (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2060) by ArkenbergeJoe

For many years, Berlin had a second large communications tower apart from the Berlin TV Tower, which is also included in the game as a landmark. The Frohnau Radio Tower was used to transmit telephone calls from West Berlin to the Federal Republic of Germany, across the territory of the former German Democratic Republic. Just a few weeks ago, it was finally torn down, due to high maintenance costs in a time when it was no longer needed. Many inhabitants from the northern Berlin are still sad that they lost a distinctive landmark, which also had the hightest inhabitable room in the whole European Union, at a height of 325 m.

The tower itself stood at 358 m, only ten meters less than the TV tower. It was demolished at February 8th, 2009, but now it can live on as a landmark in SimCity 4. :) ArkenbergeJoe modded it as a reward and also added some special features to the query window. Some of you might remember the warning siren from SC3000, which you were able to use during disasters - now the siren button is finally, back, included in the query of the Frohnau Radio Tower. Also, please note that the original lot has been left pretty blank on purpose, the birch trees that you can see on the LEX screenshots have been placed via the Mayor Mode tree button. Feel free to decorate the lot to your own liking in your game.

Title: Re: SFBT Releases - Commuter Stations
Post by: omeral on July 07, 2009, 04:36:24 AM
Hello -

First, let me say that I am a noobie - so if this post is in the wrong place or asks something obvious please forgive.

I downloaded the SFBT Commuter Stations package and installed them along with all dependencies. I have placed a few of them in a city with a dense network of commuter rail. By all appearances, they appear to function well - upon query it shows that they are well used. However, when I do a path query, it appears that they function only as endpoints on the network, meaning that trains "arrive" and "depart" but they do not go "through" the stations. The paths look as if they cut off at the stations, continuing on either side. I lay the stations on existing rail and then, for good measure, drag the rail through them again. And yet, still no appearance of through traffic. The maxis in-game rail stations function differently -most likely because they lay aside the rail and not on it as the SFBT stations do.

I have searched the forum for a discussion of this, and could not find anything that mentioned this. Other than a mention of a "TE issue" with a previous version that has been corrected in the version I installed.

Is this just the way they are supposed to function? Or am I witnessing an actual problem here? I really like the stations and want to continue using them, but the thought that they might be disrupting the network is somewhat annoying.

I have the latest version of NAM installed, in case that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any help or clues.
Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: Andreas on July 07, 2009, 10:14:05 AM
By "path query", do you mean the route query tool? The interrupted arrows that you see there are normal for any "network enabled" lot, that means a lot where the network goes directly through the lot. The Maxis railway stations are "transit enabled" as well, /this means they have a regular set of Transit Switch properties), but not "network enabled". However, if someone says "transit enabled", he usually means that the network goes through the lot, so this term has become the universal description for lots that are actually "network enabled" as well. If your stations work fine in the game, you can ignore the interrupted arrow, though.

Andreas-

Thank you very much for your reply. After my post, i used the "drawpaths" function of the extra cheats plugin to look at the paths and was satisfied to see that traffic was indeed going through the stations despite what the route query shows. Your explanation confirms it for me. Thanks again!

SFBT NAM Tram-in-Avenue Roundabout Flora (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2127) by Chrisim

Chrisim has created various Type 21 Exemplar files that will place flora props in the Tram-in-Avenue Roundabout from the NAM. The T21s are using prop families, so each time you plop a Tram-in-Avenue Roundabout, you will get a slightly different appearance.

SFBT NAM Custom FLUP Tiles Set A (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2126) by Chrisim

Another T21 mod that Chrisim created will add custom tile layouts to the Flexible Underpass puzzle pieces from the NAM. They can be used to build FLUP underpasses below parks or streams. Most of the custom tiles can be selected by rotating the FLUP puzzle pieces several times. The tooltip text will help you to select the proper tile when building the FLUPs.

SFBT Euro Road Textures Mod Update (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2128)

Since the Euro Road Textures Mod download gets quite large, I have decided to provide an update version as well, which only contains the files that have been changed or added since the last release (which was in January 2009). If you have installed the January 2009 version already, you can simply download the update and extract the desired files from the ZIP file (no installer included, so it works both for Windows and Mac users). If you prefer the installer, or if you are not sure which version you have installed, you can also download the updated full versions (Win or Mac).

What's new?

sithlrd's textures have been made as modular as possible, so you can use jeronij's high-wealth WRC plugin together with the low-wealth FAR plugin, for instance. For more information about that, please contact sithrld98 or refer to his support thread.

Hi Andreas and Jayson,

First of all, thanks a million to both of you!  ;D

Secondly, a question, as usual. I don't use JRJ's mods, but use the Sandstone mod, do I then not add any of the JRJ mods in the zip at all? Would the following files be sufficient:

FAR, GLR and Rural Roads plugin as well as the FAR update 1 Sandstone?

Title: Re: SFBT Releases
Post by: sithlrd98 on July 20, 2009, 11:00:23 AM
If you only use sandstone, then you just need the sandstone.Same goes for all of the "original"sets (white,SAP,etc.) The JRJ set is a modular set where you can mix and match curves to give the illusion of wealth textured curves to match Jeronijs mod.

I thought that this would be the best approach since he had all 3 wealths accounted for in his mod , but understand that it is somewhat confusing :)

Title: Re: SFBT Releases

Well it was properly named and packaged, and as such aided in avoiding confusion, at least for me, understanding that when it is labelled JRJ that I don't need it, if I don't use it.

However, to be on the safe side, I thought I'd ask here for further clarification.

Again, thanks a million and congratulations on a job well done!  ()stsfd()

Looks like you did install sithlrd98's Euro textures, though. If you don't want to use sithlrd98's mod, you only need to install the three files that start with "zzz1_NAM_". Simply delete everything that has "_Sithlrd98_" in it.

Not sure if this is the right place to post... Attached a patch file that replaces RHD paths used in SFBT's tram-in-avenue stations with LHD paths. You don't have to install the patch since the errors don't affect simulation. If your trams often "derail" at those stations in UDI, the patch would fix it.

Ebina, thank you for the fix
I wonder how many tram stations contain paths for right hand drive only?

Pretty much all of them, I assume. I guess rarely a BATter/lot designer ever thought of including LHD paths as well in those TE lots with special paths...

There's a tileset switcher in SC4 where you can pic from four different tilesets (Chicago, New York, Houston and European-contemporary - not sure how it is called in your version, though). Just click on one of the blue buttons that are located in the middle of the lower toolbar (the one with the ruler and the drawing triangle).

As for having another SFBT Advent Calendar next year, this is certainly possible, depending on how many items we have left for release. In 2009, we posted only about a dozen over the year, and then had nearly 30 releases ready by the end of 2009. But rest assured, if there's an opportunity, we won't miss it! It's great to see that you guys enjoyed it so much, and even though it was quite a bit of work, I love all the downloads as well. Now I just need to find some time to actually play the game...

Hi Andreas,

The Advent calendar lots are really wonderful and I just installed nearly all of them, thanks for such a great Christmas present! However, I just ran datpacker I saw that all the SFBT readme's and image files are placed by default into the plugins folder and not in a separate one outside. Could you change the installer paths for these in future releases? Thanks!

When the SFBT set up the guidelines on how to distribute their work several years ago, we specified this folder, with the intention that users of the SC4 Startup Manager can disable it, so the game would load a little faster (but it's really only a second or two at most). Mind you, this was back in a time when many developers simply put the readme file into the same folder as the actual SC4 files. In order to avoid confusion, we never changed our policy, so the readmes are still placed into this special folder. Feel free to move the files to any other place on your own, though.

Update notice

I've updated two SFBT downloads that have been released in december 2009 as following:

SFBT Church and Cemetery Mod by Andreas and Khiyana

- added individual icons to the lots (I had done this before the upload, but must have picked the wrong files for the installer, so they were just included in the mod for the Maxis lots)
- separated Maxis churches and cemeteries mod into two files, so you can also decide just to replace the churches or cemeteries

SFBT Anlage Wohnglück by JohnD

- fixed a growth stage setting in one of the lots, causing it to grow too early in the development of a city

There is no SFBT Advent Calendar this year, but there are new SFBT releases published in the LEX. The first one is:

The second new SFBT release, published on the second Advent Sunday, is published on the LEX:

SFBT Garbage Shipping Yards by T Wrecks (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2724)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Garbage_Loading_Facilities_1.jpg&hash=7e08f311c6aba2b99fe5629d9979a09906ae8715) (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Garbage_Loading_Facilities_2.jpg&hash=265d479c02062bac8b93f5110cc7b34e66322f7a)
This set contains three garbage loading stations with different capacity that ship the waste of your city from road to rail. These lots do not only give you a nice visual embodiment for your neighborhood deals, but also reduces the amount of garbage in your city. It combines the functionalities of a recycling center and a waste-to-energy plant, but without the heavy pollution this facility emits. Therefore it just has to be ensured that the lots are connected to the urban traffic network and, if necessary, alternative routes for passenger trains exist. Note: You can use these lots independant of an actual neighborhood deal - esp. in smaller cities - which makes it a good alternative to the default landfill.

The third new SFBT release of this year:

SFBT Rue d'Arlon by N1_2888 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2728)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Rue_dArlon_1.jpg&hash=e7418254e7f7b2f8430d17e117d5fda6fa56334d) (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Rue_dArlon_2.jpg&hash=29a198ad13f172698e14d134b31e91f98cea232a)
Two buildings designed to cover the space at the outer corners of obtuse-angled road curves. They are kept in the same style as the BAT "Boulevard Fribourg" and are therefore also loosely based on the same engraving representing a tenement in Paris, Rue de la Paix, which is, however, only a simple row house. Both BATs are modded as functional landmarks with 132 CO-$$$ jobs. Buildings and props extent beyond the actual, just one tile large lots. Especially at roads and more rarely at one-way streets automatically generated flowerbeds can show up.

A building that is designed to cover the space at the outer corners of right-angled curves. The look is fictitious, but has the usual features of typical Parisian wall-to-wall houses from the second half of the 19th century: stone facade, mansard roof, cast-iron balcony and window grilles, etc.

The BAT is modded as functional landmark with 532 CO-§§ jobs. Building and props extent beyond the actual lot boundaries. The download includes two 1x2 lots: Lot 1 is destined specially for use at roads and one-way streets, while Lot 2 is intended for all those traffic routes being included in the Network Addon Mod - such as T-RAM roads -, which have narrower pavements.

In 1825 the Viennese confectionist assistant Johann Georg Kranzler opened a confectionary in a building at the corner Friedrichstraße/Unter den Linden in Berlin. Ten years later he opened a café at the same place. The pavement dining area established in 1833 was a novelty at that time, which was combated by the city authorities, but could remain under the protection of the king. In 1944 the house including café and confectionary was completely destroyed. The Kranzler still exists today, but at another location (corner Kurfürstendamm/Joachimstaler Straße) in a new building raised in 1957/58.

The buildings of this download are only constructed in Euro-Style on stage 6 on a 1x2 (right corner) and a 2x1 (left corner) lot of medium density. The download includes three different versions: A CS-§§§ building with 54 jobs, growable and plopable, and a R-§§§ tenement called "Unter den Linden 25" according to the former location of the real building.

We present the first SFBT download in 2012 at the LEX:

SFBT Khrushchyovkaa by Sam Johnsson (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2739)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FChruschtschowkas250d.jpg&hash=75812a68a7554f3c0f0ad858a5c4b6cee278ecc9) (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FChruschtschowkas250n.jpg&hash=ac4e41dcd0934d84e8d21121fd255ccb21454c7d)
Khrushchyovkaa is a slang term for mostly five-story prefabricated buildings that were built mostly in the 1960-1970 years in the states of the former Soviet Union. Large quantities of these tenements were built to approve Nikita Khrushchev in the cities of the Soviet Union, sometimes intended as a temporary solution to the housing shortage, due to urbanization and the destruction caused during World War II. Khrushchyovkaa still make out some 10% of total living space of Russia, although their quality is no longer contemporary. Khrushchyovkaa buildings do therefore still characterize the cityscape of cities on the territory of the former Soviet Union.

This set contains self-growing housing developments, with Khrushchyovkaa buildings with 2 floors (excluding ground floor), 4 floors and 6 floors and three different roofs. You need to select the European - contemporary tileset and to allocate residential medium density areas according to the desired lot size (6x2, 6x6 or 8x8), using the CTRL- and possibly ALT- keys. Depending on the needs of the city, Khrushchyovkaa buildings with an appropriate number of floors will grow in low-end neighborhoods (W §).

I want to add rail yards to my city, but I'm having problems with the textures in the SFBT freight car sidings. I've downloaded all of the dependencies and can't figure out what the problem is. The sidings that only use two lanes work just fine, but the ones with three or more will not show up. Any ideas??? Also, I'm using a mac.

*dusts off thread* *cough cough*

Well, it has been a while since I posted here last time... This time, it is to celebrate a special event. SimCity 4, our favorite game, celebrates its 10th birthday these days, and it has been pretty much exactly 10 years since I got hold of my pre-ordered copy of SC4 Vanilla. :) It's unbelievable that this game is still my absolute favorite after such a long time, and even though I didn't have a lot time to play since two or three years, I never dropped out of the community completely. I've seen many others arriving and leaving, some were here just for a very short time, some are here since the very beginning.

And even though the SFBT is far from dead, many great BATters have left us, or they are on an extended hiatus. One of the largest BATs that has been created for the game so far collected dust since quite a while, mainly because it's all but easy to put such a behemoth into the game properly. I'm talking about the SFBT Lomonossov University (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2881), created by Sam Johnson. I'm pretty sure many of you have been waiting for the release, and now, for this special occasion, it's finally done. Due to the sheer size, we had to split the building into three different lots, since the number of props and textures exceeds the limit by far.

For this monster, you need a big city, lots of space, and lots of money, too. The three lots come as a reward, and they are intended to build next to each other to form one giant 32x20 lot. The central building is a replacement for the in-game university, the left wings work as the Major Art Museum, and the right wings are modded as Main City Library. Please refer to the readme file for a complete list of properties, reward requirements, and a tutorial how to build this mega lot. Be sure to provide enough power, water, garbage disposal capacity and the like. We have tested this lot thoroughly, so hopefully everything will work as intended. Enjoy! :)

Oh my God, this is really Magnificent and I'm totally stunned. Last year I expect any data to be released this Mega BAT during SFBT calendar, but it just did not happen. I had already resigned himself that maybe this project will see the light of day today just do not have words. Congratulations and grateful to Andreas and Sam Johnson for that surprise. This is certainly the best ever published from SFBT and then at the right time - 10 years Sim Sity 4. Until today I had three favorite buildings:
St. Peter-in Yoder
Budapest Parliament - Yoder
UN headquarters - Cockatoo
Today in this threesome intervene largest building ever righting here. Incidentally UMG is the largest university in the world and was the tallest building in Moscow until 2005. Is 240 meters high with 36 floors and the whole area is extensive over 1 square kilometer.

There is also an outdoor area for your Sims to relax and play, and to swim in the pool during hot summer days. The building inscription "Hallenbad" is German for indoor swimming pool. The SFBT Indoor Pool provides park and landmark effect boosts, and residential cap relief.

As shown on the screenshots, two lots are offered, a smaller lot (4x4 tiles) with some parking along the main road and a larger lot (5x4 tiles) with parking on the side. This entrance is network-enabled and by dragging a street the parking can be connected to a most road networks. When plopping the lot next to a road the connection often occurs automatically.

Many thanks to Stefan. Have fun playing SimCity !!!

Much needed and welcome addition to the game and at a very apt time given the heatwave we are experiencing here in the northern parts of South Africa ;D

A heat wave ?!! The world is very diverse - few minutes ago I had to remove 40 cm high snow that blocked the entrance to my house. The snow came falling down from the roof.

Glad you like it.

In Germany we can only use the indoor pool presently ...  ;D

Well, we had a cold wave here, which ended today when for the first time in weeks, the temperature rises above 0°C. It's a rare thing to occur in the Netherlands...

Indeed,

Good design, very useful.

And the weather? What is rare about temperatures above 00C in january in the Netherlands? And who wonders about summer in the southern hemisphere and winter in the northern? Isn't that normal on any planet with an inclined rotationaxis?

Juhu, ein Hallenbad!

I guess maarten meant that it's rare to have temperatures below 0°C in the Netherlands... And yes, for most of us I think it's astonishing that seasons are different on the hemispheres even though we know it ;)

Well, it's rare to have such low temperatures for a long time. Often it's like one, two or three days that it's freezing all day. This was about two weeks.

Title: SFBT Hamburg Corner House Ottensen by stephenhh
Post by: Chrisim on February 03, 2013, 09:36:40 AM
Today, we published a residential building from Hamburg by stephenhh: the SFBT Hamburg Corner House Ottensen by stephenhh (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2896)

This residential building was constructed at the corner of the Ottensen market place. Ottensen is an urban quarter in the district of Altona in the west of Hamburg.

The models of the corner house and the backyard building are not true to the original. For Sim City, the corner house got an additional wall and the backyard building was shortened to fit onto the lot. This download contains two self-growing lots (a "left" and a "right" version). Your Sims will build this lot automatically if the required zoning (3x3 tiles) is provided and favourable growth conditions apply.

Today, we published an industrial building by Sam Johnson: the SFBT Gusslov Foundry (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2925)

Huge industrial complexes, large factory buildings: Every industrial area has them, but so far, only very few really large industrial BATs were available. The Gusslov Foundry is intended for fill this gap a little more. The building doesn't have a real-life counterpart, but is inspired by the countless factories all around Moscow. Your Sims will build this lot automatically if the required zoning (15x6 tiles in high density industrial zone) is provided and favourable growth conditions apply.

Many thanks to Sam Johnson. Have fun playing SimCity !!!

Title: SFBT Chemnitz Founding Epoch Residential W2Ws by Temroc
Post by: Chrisim on February 18, 2013, 09:35:29 AM
Glad that you like our uploads

Today, we published a set of wall-to-wall residential buildings by Temroc: the SFBT Chemnitz Founding Epoch Residential W2Ws by Temroc (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2937)

A set of three wall-to-wall residential buildings from Chemnitz (or another city in central Europe), built during the "Gründerzeit" (Founding Epoch). This was in the 19th century when industrialization took place until the stock market crash of 1873. Four- to six- story buildings with richly decorated façades are typical for this period. This download contains three buildings on six self-growing lots (1x1 tile with just the building, and 1x2 tiles with a small garden). Your Sims will build this lot automatically if the required zoning (1x1 or 1x2 tiles in medium density residential zone) is provided and favourable growth conditions apply.

Many thanks to Temroc. Have fun playing SimCity !!!

Title: SFBT Chemnitz Siegert House by Temroc
Post by: Chrisim on March 17, 2013, 12:57:04 PM
Since EA/Maxis does not provide enough servers for us to play Sim City 2013, I modded and uploaded another SimCity 4 building by Temroc from the "Gründerzeit" (Founding Epoch):

SFBT Chemnitz Siegert House by Temroc (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2965)

The Siegert House with its magnificent baroque facade is located at the market place of Chemnitz (Germany). It was built from 1737 to 1741 according to plans by Johann Christoph Naumann. After the destruction during the Second World War only the middle Baroque facade was preserved and rebuilt in the years 1953/1954. The Chemnitz Siegert House is provided as residential building or commercial services building on self-growing lots (1x1 tile with just the building, 1x2 tiles with a small garden, and 1x3 tiles with a backyard). The screenshots show three Siegert House buildings next to each other.

Many thanks to Temroc. Have fun playing SimCity 4 !!!

Reading through this thread this evening has been quite a trip down memory lane.  :) Seeing all the wonderful work that SFBT team has donated to the community is simply amazing. Thanks and Kudos for the great work.

As a side note did anyone ever produce a Tram-on-Road stop?
The latest NAM31 seems to include Tram-on-Street and both Tram-in-Road & in-Avenue.

Hi Larry,

As far as I know, the only Tram-on-road stops I can think of are found in the RTMT pack, v3.60, by Cogeo and Z (and some others). You'll have to use those, I think, and they can be found on the STEX by searching "RTMT" (w/o the quotes). I don't think any SFBT ones are available.
