Welcome everyone to SimCity4 Devotion December event, the Advent Calendar!
As you may very well know, December is month of festivity, presents and reunions, it has been a tradition for many people around the earth for so many centuries now.
Well SC4D isn't an exception. This year we decided to unite our works and produce one magnificent month full of presents for the community.

We will be uploading one or two files daily until the 25th December. This first post will serve as a glossary of the month's upload.

We hope you'll enjoy the presents during the month as much as we liked preparing them. :)

As one of the many offshoots of our Historic Harbor (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29880-historic-harbor/) project Krashspeed made me some monks for a planned Historic Monastery set. Unfortunately he has been MIA for more than a year now, however, as a fitting opener of our SC4D advent calender I'm pleased to present you Krashspeed's excellent work!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FLEX_monk.jpg&hash=0df84fd09daaace59494b49d68fdf4241b79c009) (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3250)

For convenience I've broken it down into 4 different MMPs.  Well, 5 actually because I've separated the orthogonal and diagonal seasonal vines.  :D

In addition the download contains LE props as well, including timed seasonal vines so you can use them on your lots. Enjoy!

It has been a while since the community saw a SimCity 4 advent calendar, but this year, we're happy to continue this nice tradition. The SFBT has been digging in its archives and dusted off a few goodies that haven't seen the light since a while, and some other contributions have been created since then.

Let me announce our first upload of the calendar, the SFBT Hofmarschallhaus (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3249) by peterycristi, put on an outer corner lot that features a special pavement prop by N1_2888. Please update your copy of the SFBT Essentials (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=750) as well, as we updated a few items, and fixed some bugs from the previous release.

Today's upload is a quite interesting building, the Bauakademie (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3253) by peterycristi. As one of the many examples of Karl Friedrich Schinkel's designs, it has been a staple in the center of Berlin for decades, before it burned down in WWII.

There are plans for an original reconstruction, and one corner was actually recreated in 2002. Then a giant scaffolding was erected that shows the original size and volume of the original building, printed on a giant canvas, which looks almost photorealistic.

Sadly, peterycristi didn't create any nightlighting for the building, but it surely looks way too nice to omit it from releasing. :)

I'd assume the SC4D Advent Calendar Group is only available for the person who created it, since I can't pick that one either...

Anyway, let me continue with our little Berlin special; peterycristi created yet another landmark from the German capital, the Bismarck National Memorial (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3255), which once was located in front of the Reichstag building, and was relocated to the Großer Stern right in the middle of the Tiergarten, together with the Siegessäule.

Two more beautiful bats--it's the 6th and I already feel spoiled :D

I've added today's uploads to the custom group, as well as the daisies. I thought I'd seen the daisies in the group before, with the group linked to the advent panel on the forums, but it certainly wasn't at the time that I went to change it. I've actually been trying to catch these before Casper can, so I can practice helping with things on the LEX, which is new to me. It's not inconceivable that I somehow messed up your daisies' status earlier, in which case I apologize ;)

Today is St. Nicholas day (or "Nikolaus" in German), and it has been a tradition among German children to put out a polished shoe or boot in the night before, and find it filled with little goodies on the next morning. Naturally, the advent calendar will bring you yet another upload, this time, it's the SFBT Schlafwagen-Gesellschaft (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3256) by peterycristi, modded by N1_2888 again. This W2W building from Berlin comes on both growable and ploppable CO-$$$ lots.

Although myself I am not a fan of Berlin's older architecture (even though I am German/Swedish born and was raised there) but I find these models very well done and I will surely use them one day in one of my cities. Love all those details and the textures.
Thanks you peterycristi, SC4D and SFBT.

Today, December 7th, the day after St. Nicholas: A Dutch treat!
w_swietwoot has made these models about two years ago, but never found time to make proper lots for them. So I offered to do that. As a result here I present you, after a long silence, another BNL Team production.

Dutch row houses from the 1960ies. (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3258) In The Netherlands you can find these all over the country.
All R$$ lots for making your own "Wederopbouw" areas. In The Netherlands you can find these all over the country.

New week, new SFBT special! This week will feature the excellent work of Sir Roland, who made some exceptional BATs from landmarks in Vienna, Austria. A few of them got uploaded to the STEX some time ago; for the SFBT release, they have been overhauled, and we're proud to present some unreleased models from Sir Roland as well!

Some files were modded heavily into functional health and education buildings, so it might be better to bulldoze and unstall existing lots from your city before using the new ones. Also, please make sure you have the latest SFBT Essentials (December 2015 version) installed, as I included Sir Roland's new props there.

The first Vienna landmark that I uploaded is the House 21 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3259), a rather unique museum that once served as exhibition pavilion for the world fair in Brussel, Belgium, and now hosts a contemporary art collection of the 21th century (hence the name).

A bit of Christmas Cheer from the Southern Hemisphere.

For today's advent celebrations, I give you Almaden Council Chambers.

This is a reward that functions like the in game Town Hall and DOES NOT over-write the Maxis Town Hall (or any of the many re-lots) and can be placed more than once in a city, and co-exist with the Maxis town hall. It's great for W2W areas.

As FrankU pointed out, I didn't announce yesterday's SFBT upload yet, it's the Vienna Water Tower (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3260) by Sir Roland, which comes on two different lots (a functional water tower and a museum, since the building is used as an exhibition hall today).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Vienna_Water_Tower_1.jpg&hash=6439f5186e9d0e910d061a890a7b6fdb57a4935b)

Today's upload is another Vienna BAT by Sir Roland, the Vienna Main Library (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3262), a modern building with a quite expressive design. The download contains both a version with the Maxis nightlighting, and a Dark Night version for those who prefer this mod.

Some of you might have spotted yesterday's SFBT upload already, let me introduce it along with the BAT for today, again both from Sir Roland. The Vienna Music Association (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3264) is one of the most renowned concert halls in the world, housing the famous Vienna New Year's Concert by the Vienna Philharmonics and other important events.

Another staple in Vienna's skyline is the Giant Wheel (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3266) on the Prater fairground, well-known from countless movies and a popular motive for postcards. I have edited the lot that was released on Simtropolis a few years ago in order to include some more of Sir Roland's new props, which also reduced the number of dependencies.

Two more SFBT files have been uploaded for the 16th and 17th of December, both created by N1_2888. The first upload is the Rue Duméril (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3275), another Paris W2W building that fills some gaps, like inner and outer corners. N1_2888 created a total of 10 different lots, some growable residential and commercial ones, as well as some ploppable landmarks.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Rue_Dumeril_1.jpg&hash=cd78298c9cac9de2caecd906876733602ee3c0de)  (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Rue_Dumeril_2.jpg&hash=e247d1e95e249417fe11aa4ff9315678122c27e0)

The second upload is based on a Maxis landmark, the Arc de Triophe. While ther is a really nice model by xannepan already, the Maxis model is smaller and fits in perfectly on a 2x2 lot. N1_2888 created a Roundabout filler lot (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3276) for the model, which fits in perfectly in any dense W2W development where straight and diagonal avenues meet.

Also today, a map of Crowheart Cove (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3277), an area of the Wyoming coast south of Yellowstone National Park.  (Yes the coastline is fictional).

Being a map, it's not going to have the wider appeal of most of the Advent uploads, but at least it looks Christmassy with the green and the red.  (You can consider it a decorative upload if you like :D).

Today, the SFBT has a few surprises for you again, and coincidentially, one of them suits noahclem's woolly mammoths perfectly. :D

The SFBT Mammoet PTC Ring Crane (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3286) by Shenti07, perfectly able to lift mammoth weights of any kind. ;) Kidding aside, the Mammoet PTC is a recreation of the world's largest ring crane, weighting 3,000 tons and being more than 300 m tall - almost as large as the Eiffel Tower! The lot shows up next to the old SFBT Construction Set that is located at the bottom of the airport menu (back then, it was the only menu that wasn't overcrowded yet).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Mammoet_PTC_02.jpg&hash=6db27bb8037e7fb12617746e4a2f59b8f5d4509a)

The other upload is the SFBT Obelisk (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3287) by igc, a small 1x1 plaza lot that can be used as a centerpiece for a roundabout, or in any other park or plaza location. One of three different obelisk models will show up randomly when you plop the lot.

For the 21st we have another dirty industrial building, Greek Revival Mill (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3288).  It is based on a picture of an old mill building somewhere in Rhode Island (I forget what town exactly).

This is a building I made in 2006, and have only now finished modding and lotting.  There are a total of 5 buildings and 8 lots included in the download.

Yet another little gem that hasn't been release so far is the SFBT Feldherrnhalle (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3289) by peterycristi. It is located in Munich, Germany, at the southern end of the Odeonsplatz. Dedicated to the Bavarian army, it played an important role in the NS propaganda of the Third Reich.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Feldherrnhalle_1.jpg&hash=3e3a4e534ce7916affa2d1781f3fe57b8b11142a)

The upload for today is a bit of a premiere, it's the one and only BAT that I ever modelled myself. ;) I made this little thing a few years ago, when I had to wait at a train stop in the vicinity every day for some time, and after researching a bit, I found out that the Deutsche Bahn intruduced this design as a standard setup for small, local train stops everywhere in Germany. I thought I might give it a try, considering the simple, boxy shape.

Admittedly, I'm more into lot making and modding, so this was my only trip into the world of BATting (and therefore, it's also lacking nightlighting). The model is too nice to collect dust on my hard drive, though, hence I'm releasing it now as part of the SFBT Advent Calendar as SFBT Train Stop (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3290). :)

Continuing with another upload for the 22th I'm pleased to finally release a pet project of mine: 8 growable stage 1 IR grass pastures. They're simple grass fields which do not contain a visible building and as such they could be considered stage 0 lots, to borrow a term from FrankU.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FDay22_Pasture.jpg&hash=94950837a98a1a1e3954878d7dc9c18733a06c96) (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3293)
click pic to go to LEX

The textures have undergone a long, long process of tweaking and re-tweaking. Needless to say the textures are multi-fsh, and each contains no less than 16 variations of itself. This will to a large extend eliminate tiling effects, so you can grow pretty large pasture fields without it look weird. In addition the textures are in proper HD, which means they cannot be opened in Maxis LE, nor SC4PIM. Therefore I've included a LE texture file as well, found in the Documentation folder - along with closer views of each pasture.

Oh and of course the pastures are slope-friendly! Enjoy.

ps: half of the 30mb file size is due to rather large documentation pictures. .   :-[

I wasn't sure if I should release today's SFBT upload to the public at first, but numerous requests at our German SimForum showed that there was quite some interest in the community. Since ages, the advisors annoyed me with their requests to build an airport in my city, even when I thought that my city was way too small (or when I already built more than enough airports in my region.

Naturally, such things were addressed a couple of times already, and there's the BSC Functional Airports, a really nice set with additions and/or replacements for the Maxis airports, but I wanted something simple and independent. So I was examining the "Airport Controller" closely and created a copy for personal use, including just one custom "airport", which eventually became the SFBT Airport Shuttle (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3295).

This bus terminal looks nice in pretty much any city, and it works like a true functional airport, so the advisors are happy. I didn't include an "upgrade" feature like the Maxis airports have, but if the lots gets overcrowded, you can simply place another one in your city. Caution! This lot is NOT compatible with any other functional airport! Please use it only when you either don't have any other functional airports installed, otherwise you need to remove them first.

If you like the lot itself, there's also a regular bus terminal version ("Busbahnhof" in German) included. Please make sure to read the readme file before using this lot, as it will crash your cities immediately upon loading, with no chance to recover them afterwards, even after uninstalling the files. Ideally, make a backup of your region folder first (always a good idea anyway).

This is a Landmark building, modded similarly to Maxis City Hall, as well as a growable high wealth commercial office building. It is based on the real-life Chicago Post Office, built in 1855, and destroyed in the Chicago Fire of 1871.
Lotting is mostly by Simcoug (thanks again Matt!)

Christmas is approaching fast, and Christmas Eve is the traditional day in Germany for the family gathering around the tree, singing Christmas songs, and then exchanging some presents. Today, I've uploaded two files, both made with BATs by Sam Johnson, that I lotted and modded accordingly.

You might remember the excellent prefab buildings that we uploaded in the past, and here's another set of those - a big one, actually, weighting 24 MB in total. The SFBT Moscow Housing Blocks (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3302) is a set of four different lots, which feature either one or two buildings.

There is a larger and a smaller building model, and both come in five different colors. The smaller model even has two slightly different versions for each color, so there are 15 models included in total. This should provide a nice variety, even if you use those lots exclusively in your prefab quarters.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fcsxlex%2Fimages%2Fbeximg%2FSFBT_Moscow_Housing_Blocks_1.jpg&hash=bdbc0446a95891d3fa0ff599b616e5086c79c187)

Accompanying the Moscow Housing Blocks, I've uploaded the SFBT PreFab Filler Lots (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3301), a set of 25 different lots with paths, parking lots and playgrounds, which blend very well with all the prefab lots the SFBT has been releasing so far. Some connector lots can be used to combine them with the existing SFBT R$ Park Set.

Santa was here and brought you a very special Christmas present: The University of Clayhurst Expansion Pack (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3303) by JBSimio. Many times, people have asked for this elusive pack, and everytime, the answer was the same: It's probably lost due to RL issues, as the creators and contributors might have left the community. When compiling the SFBT Advent Calendar this year, I found a beta version of the Clayhurst EP on my hard drive, which is probably not complete, but it contains all the necessary files for a functional expansion pack.

So I blew off the dust that has been accumulating over the last eight years, checked all buildings, added proper icons and a German translation. You might remember that the Clayhurst starter pack featured multiple languages, so feel free to contribute more translations, I can add those later. As I said, the set is not complete, most notably, the pedestrian bridges that JBSimio showed in his thread are missing, but there are several new university classroom buildings, a wide variety of dormitories, campus security and fire station, and a few new path and quad lots.

In addition, the set features three "University Shuttle" lots that work the same way as the Airport Shuttle lot that I released a few days ago. They are fully functional university buildings that come in three different sizes, but looking like a bus station to pick up students for travelling to the actual university campus in the neighboring city. I created a bunch of reward scripts that either unlock the university shuttle bus stops or the university classroom buildings, please refer to the detailed readme file for further information.

Thank you all for these beautiful gifts.  This calendar has been one for the ages.  Everything from splendid farm fields to diagonal buildings, and a UC expansion to top it off.  Beautiful!

One final gift for Boxing Day: The SFBT Chemnitz Central Station (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3305) by Temroc was another of those BATs that has been collecting dust since years since the model had some serious problems with the nightlighting that Temroc was never able to fix. Unfortunately, he left the community before finishing the station, so the entire roof for the platforms have never been finished as well.

The model looks way too nice for being shelved, though, so we decided to release it as station for the NAM Underground Rail Puzzle Pieces. The station also works as subway and bus station, so it should be suitable for any European downtown setting. Even without nightlighting, I think the lot has enough visual interest, and most people play in daytime mode only anyway (including me ;) ).

This upload wraps up this year's SFBT Advent Calendar, which was probably the last, due to the aging game, but I think there will be always some core group who keeps playing the game, and who knows how many goodies will be produced in the future. Thank you for all the nice comments, much appreciated, and I hope the original creators might poke in their heads again one day... :)

Thanks to everyone that worked so hard to make the advent calender a reality this year. The content is fantastic and it gives many of us lots of new presents to play with in-game for many many months and years to come.

It's so good to see the SC4 content creator community so active after all these years, such a fantastic thing to see!

Well done to everyone involved.

Oh It's Christmas and all that goes with it so another little gift from me for your enjoyment can be found here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3307).

This is an old BAT that was made for me back in 2009 by JFMyers for the GRV2 challenge which was only available on the LEX DVD 1.5 and was never released to the wider community.
Well better late than never.
Maxis flora has been used so if you have a tree mod in your plugins(who doesn't?) it will fit right in.

Enjoy!

With Reddonquixote's surprise addition of the beautiful Chrysler Building to mark Epiphany, also known as the 12th day of Christmas, this season's Advent Calendar is officially complete. Thanks so much to everyone who's helped make this event possible, you've truly achieved something great. Special recognition should be given to Arthur for his idea to have an SC4D Advent Calendar this year and to Andreas and the SFBT for their long tradition of Christmas fun and for returning to help make this year so special. With any luck we could see a present or two under the tree next season as well ;)
