I just started bating these days, so please don't be cruel with me ;) even if my Bat is not perfect. I started to make a building that was located in central america. More I will not tell at this moment ;). Just tell me your comments.

Off to a good start :thumbsup: The textures repeat a little too much, so you may want to go into a little more work on them. Also I'd give the pillars difference textures from each other. Right now with the same texture it looks a little too repeating. Either way, I'd really like to see how this one turns out. &apls
Peterycristi , man if I could make anything that looked half as good as that on my first , or 100th try , I would be happy! I like how this model has started... keep on it!

This is a very good beggining, I f I could offer some advice leave the textures as they were downloaded and change the textures by using the omni lighting feature. I have spent hours tweaking this module, some good results and some bad. Your building already looks better than alot who claim to be experts, keep up the good work

After another look at this building front, if you textured the windows frames by using the smoothing feature it might bring out the lighting more during rendering process.

another puzzlepiece for you: the building stood in one of the biggest cities of the world. It's destruction is a symbol of the hardest earthquake which hit the city until now. The quake cost the live of around 45.000 people.

@praiodan: &apls you are right, of course it's the Regis. It fall down in the earthquake of 1985 that was around 8,6 on the scale. The quake destroyed some buildings in the hostoric center of mexico-city (like the Regis) and a lot of big apartment houses which were not built after the earthquake restrictions. The mexican government spoke of around 4.000 victims but today we are speaking of a number between 40.000 and 45.000 people that were killed on this day.

Were once stood the Regis is today a greened place called "plaza de la solidaridad" with a memorial for the victims of 1985.
So I decided to give a come back to that legendary hotel, that once was the first adress of DF.

It was a hotel building, maybe at back side there was a pool area or something, make another facade at backside (similar or equal as like front facade) just an idea ;)

@debussyman: thanks for your comments! I'm really a big fan of your bat's! Concerning the mansard roof i will see, if i can do it later, but like it's my first bat, i think it's just too difficult now ;). But you are right, it would look a lot better with the original roof.

This is coming along nicely. You have some nice details. I agree with that the roof texture int's really there yet. I think the yellow window frames at the base could also be toned down. They draw the eye too much. I think a slightly more washed out yellow would be better. Anyway, it's coming along nicely.

Wow! This is a good start and I am glad that you posted some progress pictures here at SC4 Devotion.
I can see that you have a good technical understanding of gmax and I like all the small details you've done to the front. I like the columns, moldings, balusters, and dentils. I like the block texture that you have on some parts of the front facade on the lower four floors. There are other parts of the front that look flat gray. You should consider using that same texture for all surfaces - or - attempt to use a gradient on those gray surfaces (if you have a paint program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro).
Andreas said a long time ago, at another web site, that Sim City is a roof top game. But making a good roof is difficult. Those who have limited artistic skills or lack a good paint program should consider using gmax to compensate by either using roof junk (air condition units, elevator maintenance rooms, duct work, ventilation, skylights, etc.) or use artistic license and change the roof to a gable, hip, or mansard roof where you can add interest by introducing interesting shapes and corresponding textures like tar paper, shingles, slate, or terracotta tiling.

You can do the roof terrace but try to make it to not cover the entrance view of the building, you can make it "short"
As for the roof side, I agree with tcx, you can do the regis sign hotel ;)
Or otherwise you can recreate the hotel as it was beginning of XX century..

Heh, what a coincidence! I was just talking to Nardo69, and he said that the Maxis $$$ streetlight doesn't look that great in areas like on the pic below. Your streetlight should fit much better.

yepp, we both agreed that this nice little gem would be a perfect replacement for that horrible pseudo-barocque double headed Maxis lamp for the rich areas - don't know what's worse - the maxis palms or that lambpost *shiver*
As an alternative there are lamposts with a circle where the light is placed inside... ()stsfd()

Just catching up on your progress here. The hotel Regis is coming along nicely. The roof adds interest and the roof texture is believable. The large skylight needs some adjustment though. Perhaps you may decide to do something different. I think your hotel would look really nice with some cresting along the roof ridge. I also agree with what others have said. The gold color is a bit too bright/colorful almost to the point of distraction. You should consider reducing the color saturation. But it is afterall, your bat, and the final decision is yours to make.

IMO you should rework the white texture. It looks too clean, which I don't think should happened on an aged european building. It is, however, a lovely model.

Agreed, the white texture is too bright, you may reduce it to a bit of grey and some other part dirty ;D you know... hehe

They look amazing :o
Couple of things though:
First, I think they are too big, perhaps they would look better around half to 3/4 of their size. Tle lamps looks specially large (compared to the lampposts arund them)
Second, It seems like there's something wrong with the eagle's texture (those darker lines). However, the model itself is really good, did you make them yourself?

that looks really good modeled but i have to agree that it could be smaller
and could it be that it is renderes without AA (maybe you just wanted a faster test render :))

re: the lamps...
I think if you want to keep them at their current size they need to be lowered. Look how high they are compared to the traffic lights... I honestly can't think of anything that is purposefully ornamental like that that is that high up on a statue of this scale... It would look better IMO for the lamps to be lowered.
Also, the gold of the lamps looks a little too new compared to the aged copper look of the eagles. Perhaps if the lamps were the same green color they might blend a little better? Just a thought, it's your creation!

yes, i'm still working on the Regis. The problem is, that i made a mistake, well two ;D. At first i didn't save very often, cause it was the first time i worked with gmax. So I lost all the roof an texture work. Only the fachada left. So I needed to do all the work again. The other thing is, that i wanted the building to be compatible with porkis paris-set. But I noticed, that the Regis is very high and scaling it down is changing the dimensions so much, that it doesn't look good anymore. So at the moment i don't know exactelly what to do. I think i will just go on like i started, because San Cristobal (that nobody knows yet ;)) is a Buenos Aires styled city and in Latinamerica a typical thing is, that all the buildings are of different height.
Also soon there will be an update of the frenchstyle when i checked out the texture thing.
So keep on waiting ;).

batting must go on... the Regis has it detailed front back, after I lost the most of the work by a gmax-crash. But nothing new on the Regis. The frenchstyle will get some new textures for the too white front and the work on the city-hall is stopped, because I noticed, that it doesn't cover my city... so this one can wait.

It is the Antigua Cámara de Diputados, a very beautiful building. The new one in San Lázaro hast to be one of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen.
Don't know if you have seen the original plan for the "new" Cámara de diputados. Too bad its construction was halted by the revolution:

My Spanish is rusty, and for that matter, vocab wasn't my strong suit... What's the English equivalent of "camara?"
And what was/is this building's use? It looks like it would be a governmental building... but I'm not really up on my Mexican history!
Cámara is like a parliament, also that was the propose of the building as a function of a parliament. There was planned a major structure for it, but due the Mexican Revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_revolution) it was never finished (they started to built it but was incomplete, so now is the Monument to the revolution)
well, the translation of camara de diputados would be chamber of deputies. The building i'm batting at the moment had this function from 1911 to 1982 and before it was used as a theater. I don't remember exactelly why the chamber moved to this building, because before it was located in the palacio nacional. I think the theater burned down (I'm not sure about that ;)) and because the chamber in the palacio nacional was too little they moved into the reconstructed building. Anyway the plan was to stay there until the new chamber building (showed by debussy) would be finished. But as mentioned all that plans were stopped by the mexican revolution that lasted finally 10 years.
The architectural history of that time has many paralels with the one in the german empire. As before the revolution, or the first worldwar in germany, the arcitectural style was influenced by historism and art noveau after that political events, that ment the end of a regime (porfiriato in mexico, empire in germany), the prefered arcitecture changed to modernism and art deco.
A great example for this change is the palacio de las bellas artes (palace of fine arts), the opera of mexico city, which exterior is built in art noveau and then the work was stopped during the revolution and the interior was later finished in the art deco style.

Impressive owrk. There are some really great details here. I agree with you about the roof texture, it doesn't really work.The stone might be a touch bright too (tough to judge without seeing it in game). The side wooden doors also look awfully tall, especially in comparison to the steps and the palatial front doors. It would take a giant to reach up and grab the handle to open them. This is a really great model and the fact that it sits on a corner makes it even more unique. It just needs a few tweaks to make it even better.

But anyway, i changed the ex city hall into a corner building for the buenos aires w2w set, made a little progress in buenos aires no. 1 and put also the still not ready Regis there. In the pictures you can see, that all the buildings will have a different hight, which is typical for latinamerica. Even i wanted to see the size of the paris-set next to BAw2w-set.

you are making a great collection of buildings of La Habana, they all look great, I like the colours those are very realistic.

Those moorish houses are excellent, love the style and colors!
Just one tought: perhaps you could tweak your roof textures a little, I've got the impression they are currently too strong and take too much eye attention from the facades.
Also, you might like to develope a little more on the back of the buildings, these usually have nice arcades and courtyards behind them.

Me gusta más la nueva textura, aunque está un poco estirada en el edificio del primer post de esta página. Si tiene suficiente resolución, tal vez la puedas estirar un poco más horizontalmente con el UVW map para que quede mejor ;)
Y tus edificios van cada vez mejor, las fachadas tienen muy buenos detalles y texturas.

well, here the final version of tipo11, which, i guess is a museum or a public building. Maybe it is the building of the Malecón foundation, which is renovating the Malecón step by step... who knows :D.

well, i just changed the relief and the colour of the front. Also i reduced the shine of the tiles. I think it looks perfect now. well, anyway this will be the final version ;).

Impresionante, el monumento a Martí se ve magnífico.
El paseo del prado se ve excelente también, lo único que le criticaría es la textura oscura. No recuerdo de qué es en la vida real (me parece que granito) sin embargo, tu textura es demasiado grande y el gradiente que tiene no se ve muy bien, tal vez unos bloques de mármol darían el efecto deseado. También me parece que debería ser un poco más obscura.

Well, this is a nice bat and what wonderful detailing on the facade. The roof and sandstone blocks work well together.
I like the brickwork of the corner pieces althrough you'll need to be careful with the brightness of the texture so that it does not 'shine' too much. The game can cast a lot of light on horizontal surfaces at times.

unfortunately it was destroyed during world war 2 and the ruin was blown up as allmost every other building on Potsdamer Platz. The only prewar building that ist still left ist the Weinhaus Huth :(.

museum? if you are talking about the phantasy museum i made, it's not a aroundabout. If you are talking about the monumento de marti (what i guess) it is planed as a roundabout but can also be available as a normal 2x2 lot.

Looks great! the only flaw are those gaps between the wall pieces, there's a tutorial by jeroni on how to overcome them, it is in the tutorial section of the forum... Also, I'd make the brick a little darker and add a slight gradient, but that's depending on the look you're going for...
I'd recommend you to try a texture simmilar to the one Yoder used on his citadel walls (inspired in Moscow's, but not as detailed as yours, and never released):

May I ask how you made the dome beams follow the ellipsoidal shape? that's the main problem I'm having with Karlskirche ()what()
well, i'm a little bit afraid of telling you, because my bat skills are some kind of primitive (even if the outcome ist nice some time ;)). I created a simple sphere added some torus creating the beams. After putting all together i scaled the complete roof model to 80 percent on the y-axis, and voila, thats all the secret, simple but effective.
by the way i just noticed that there is a rotunde at the dome of the original, so here a little update (final version).
While the french quarter was nearly completelly destroyed, the french church was almost not damaged during world war 2. It was built in 1752/53 by the famous prussian architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff for the french hugenott refuges which found a new home in prussia. After the bombing of april 14th 1945 it is the oldest existing church in the historic district of Potsdam. The building is inspired by the pantheon of rome.

another bat i did focusing more on european buildings.
The Nikolaikirche in Potsdam was build by the famous prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel from 1830 to 1837. The dome was added from 1843 to 1850. Even if with the dome the plans of Schinkel were completet he couldn't realize them himself because he died in 1841. hardly damaged during the battle of Berlin it was rebuilt until 1981 while almost every other building, including the Stadtschloss, were blown up by the GDR authorities. It dominated the skyline of the historic Potsdam aswell as the Potsdam of today.

another update for the Alter Markt, Potsdam. The obelisc on the old market is situated infront of the Nikolaikirche and the Rathaus (city hall). Today the plaza is gone, but i thought it would be a nice idea to recreate it. Anyway i'm trying to recreate the old town of Potsdam.

To me it is very exotic and bizarre architecture that, while I may not use much of it in the kinds of worlds I create, still impresses me greatly with it's technique. I am also drawn to the ability with Sc4 to recreate and keep alive buildings and things that no longer exist. Well done.

And as I am a big lover of Berlin and Potsdam and an admirer of Karl Friedrich Schinkel you will be not surprised that I'd like to have your work in my cities.
I am already hoping for some time that Debussyman, but maybe now you will do it, will make a BAT of the Altes Museum in Berlin or the Charlottenhof in park Sanssouci. These are my favourite Schinkel buildings.

after a long time something new, which is not directlly in my Potsdam project. But anyway it has to do with. Here Karl-Friedrich-Schinkel teached and planned a lot of his great architecture. Even the building itself was planned by the great genius of northern german neoclassicism himself. The Bauakademie survived the bombs of the second worldwar almost undamaged. 1956 the works of repairing the facades was done. But works to rebuild the inside were stopped. The GDR got plans for a new department of foreign affairs, which should be in direct sight of the Palast der Republik. So in 1962 the almost rebuilded Bauakademie was blown up.
Today there is a foundation, which plans to recreate the great building.

Well i'm really feeling bad about showing my creations here without sharing them. I'm really planning to upload them, but i have to admit, that after making some progress in batting, i'm still a noob in nightlights. So thats the thing thats missing and not letting me start with the process of sharing them. But i started working of the nightlights for the Bauakademie and if i will come to a quick result i will release it by the SFBT. So don't loose your hope to get them one day! ;)

thanks for all those nice comments! I think the Altes Museum will work as a landmark, because in fact it is more a landmark than a museum. Meanwhile the works on the museum are going on i made some Berlin props.
The worldfamous Litfaßsäule, which you can find in every big city on this planet was invented by the berlin printer Ernst Litfaß in 1854. On 5. dezember he got the licence for the first of this anouncement collumns by the city of Berlin. Later he was given a monopol for his invention until 1865. In 1855 the first 100 of this collumns where put in the city of Berlin showing announcements and the biggest news.
So far I thought what a shame, that this collumn, invented by a german, only exists in the parisian version for SC4. It's time to change this and bring more middleeuropean props to the game! So I made a small variety of Litfaßcollumns:

thanks a lot for all that nice comments. I'm glad you like this maybe usefull props. Another Prop i wanted to make since a very long time was now possible thanks to the HD-render. This streetlights you can find in a lot of german cities, but especially on Kurfürstendamm and Unter den Linden, which are the two famous boulevards of Berlin. The doublesided light is for plazas and the original can be found on Pariser Platz close to the Brandenburg Gate.

well, of course the streetlights on Unter den Linden are not from Albert Speer. They were put during the imperial time when Berlin became a metropolis.
So here we go with another prop from Berlin. Potsdamer Tor was located between Leipziger and Potsdamer Platz. The Gatehouses were a part of the city walls and left as a landmark after the demolision of the berlin city walls. In world war two all the buildings in this area (close the the government quarter) were hardly damaged. As Leipziger Platz was in the eastern part and potsdamer platz allready in the western part of the city, the ruins of the gatehouses were blown up in 1961 to build there the berlin wall. Now this lost ensemble, created by Karl Friedrich Schinkel too, comes back to your cities.

Another prop i made is the Monument of frederic the great, king of prussia which is located on Unter den Linden in the center of Berlin. The first stone was put on 1. June 1840, the 100 aniversary of frederics first day in power. Creator was Christina Daniel Rauch, a student of the famous Johann Gottfried Schadow. On 31. Mai 1851 the monument was given to Public.

Hermoso!. I've always wanted to have the fixtures of Unter den Linden as they were at the turn of the century (and I had been too lazy to make them ;) ). The only thing I don't like are the textures of the statue, they vary too much in contrast and saturation, specially for the fence. Something more neutral and homogeneus would look better in my oppinion.

Well, to complete this here is the rendering of the Altes Palais. The thing i'm very proud of is the ivy in the pergola, because this was the first time i made that kind of organic stuff.

It's still the good old Hotel Bellevue from Potsdamer Platz, Berlin. It was located next to the famous Palast Hotel and Fürstenhof. In 1928 it was crashed to get space for the Columbus Haus.

I downloaded your prop pack containing Berlin-Potsdam models. I would like to create a classic lamp post set for my USL mod, and the below lamp models would be absolutely perfect for it.
However i have few problems with them.
- Light cones for night view can only be added if the GroupID of the lamp post models is BADB57F1. (Just like the simple pole (IID: 15AB) in the same prop pack, what can be used without any modifications.)
- They should be oriented in the same direction as the ingame lamp posts, otherwise direct model change is not possible.
I made the modified model versions for myself, and replaced the $$$ game lights. They work well, appear automatically on high wealth avenue and NWM pieces. Unfortunately I have no ingame screenshot at this moment.
What is really missing: the diagonal versions. Could you please render diagonal versions, and take the above problems into account?

@philipp-3108: well, the bauakademie is allready in the SFBT-testcenter, but without nightlights. Bellevue is still on hold, cause i had some serious PC-problems and just for luck i could safe all my data. So i don't know exactelly when i will start to finish the modell again.
and something new for my CJ, the Neue Wache. Even if Kelis allready did it, i decided to just create it for my CJ, because kelis' version is still not available. So here we go, just missing some details to finish:

thx a lot for all your positive comments! Well, i guess, i never showed pics of a project i'm working at for some month. As Berlin is at the river Spree of course there are some famous bridges too, which form the face of the city. So i started some time ago to do a own canal set for my CJ. The first picture shows Friedrichsbrücke, close to Museumsinsel and the Berliner Dom. The other ones are showing Schlossbrücke. Another work of the famous prussian architekt Karl Friedrich Schinkel (who did the Neue Wache too). This are two bridges which are dominating until today their spot.

here i just wanted you to show some details of Schlossbrücke. Sculptures are just a question of some simple bodies (mainly spheres and so on) and the right textures, so just try it yourself! It's not that difficult ;) (if someone wants more info about how to do sculptures, just contact me).

In 1875 the german empire bought the Palais Schulenburg in Wilhemstraße 77. Since then it was the residence and office of the german chancellor, called Reichskanzler. Bismarck, who insisted to buy the building, called it Reichskanzlei. In the following years almost all imperial ministries moved to Wilhemlstraße to be close of the chancellor.
During the Nazi-dictatorship the building became part of Hitler's gigantic Neue Reichskanzlei. The Battle of Berlin let just some stones of the Alte Reichskanzlei left, while Hitler's Neue Reichskanzlei wasn't damaged so much.

located on Unter den Linden, it was built in 1907 and survived WW2 and the battle of Berlin. Today it is one of the less pre war buildings on the famous boulevard of the capital. Hope you like it so far.

and here, something new. The Café Kranzler was right on the famous corner Unter den Linden/Friedrichstraße. It was (and is in other location) the most famous Café of Berlin. The building got several aditions. I decided to make it, how it may looked like in the twenties. The buidling - like many others at Unter den Linden - was completelly destroyed in WW2. In the fifties Kranzler opened his new Café on Kurfürstendam, because Unter den Linden was in the socialist part of Berlin. There it is located till today, so if you visit Berlin go there and try some cakes and coffees ;).

show must go on! On the other side of Friedrichstraße was located Café Bauer, a Kaffeehaus completelly in vienese tradition. The Kranzler and the Bauer were the hot spot on Unter den Linden. Here it was, where you could see famous people having their coffee & cake on sunday afternoon. Also the two buildings marked the entrance to the southern Friedrichstraße, the amusement area of the Mitte district. Unfortunatelly none of the buildings on this most famous crossing of the capital survived the bombs of WW2. On the Lot of Café Kranzler is today located the Westin Grand Hotel which hosts a Café Bauer again, while the Kranzler moved to the Ku'damm. On the lot of the former Café Bauer is today the Lindencorso.

By the way, the Hotel Bellevue, in fact, had a less famous twin on the other side of the Ebertstraße, as well facing the Potsdamer Platz, the Palasthotel. The only diffenences where that it had a flatter roof and a large, intensely decorated window instead of the Gable with the hotel's name. Also, there wasn't this huge terrace with the incredible view on the Potsdamer Platz in front of it that the Bellevue was famous for (belle vue = good view), but the Potsdamer Stadttor. The place where this terrace used to be, today is crossed by a road, the Bellevuestraße - what an embarassing reminiscence for such a unique institution &mmm . In difference to the Bellevue (-> Columbushaus), the Palasthotel, remained another 13 years until it burned down in the bomb shower. Because of its newer, elaborated structure of the Columbushaus (one of the very, very few pre-war buildings i really hate - da hat sich Mendelsohn nach dem Einsteinturm [Potsdam, höho ;) ] ja mal nen richtigen Griff ins Klo erlaubt :thumbsdown: ), it survived the war, but was set on fire in the end of the 50's during the worker's uprisings in the GDR - although it was located in the western part of the city $%Grinno$% . One of the very few losses I don't regret. The remaining ruins of the Potsdamer Platz and the neighboring Leipziger Platz (originally divided by the Potsdamer Tor) as well as the remaining buildings in the eastern part finally where demolished for the Berlin Wall, those in the west for new buildings. So, we also lost the "Hotel Fürstenhof", a giant Jugendstil building, the world's largest varieté "Haus Vaterland", the Potsdamer Stadttor, the Warenhaus Wertheim, the Anhalter Bahnhof (hardly damaged in WW2, then destroyed in the 70's ()sad() ) and countless others jewels of architecture.
Do you also plan to rebuild some of the great Warenhäuser (ware houses) Berlin was famous for in the 20's, like Karstadt Hermannplatz, Warenhaus Tietz, Kaufhaus Hertie's or the already mentioned Wertheim? Seeing these lost beauties being reborn in SC4 (and ready for download ;) ) would be incredible.

Well, here i am again. After very hard laptop problems and being without internet for almost a month i am back on a new PC. Unfortunatelly it will take some time, until i have moved all my sc4 stuff here. You all mentioned various times that not very few of my building have been released until now and i'm very sorry for that. Even there are a lot of them waiting in the sfbt-testcenter. The point is, that i'm not very good in modding and all the works that are necessary for release. Even for my own use i don't take very much care of right settings for my creations. But to change this situation i have to admit that i need help. To your question momo95: Of course i thought several times about creating some of the famous warehouses like wertheim and so on. Potsdamer Platz will be very difficult to recreate, so that there are no ideas or works focusing on that spot at the moment. But for example Tietz on Alexanderplatz is a essential building and for that on my list. But a trip to Düsseldorf made me start with something very similar:

It's called PIM-X....honestly without that tool, most of my creations would have languished on my hard-drive. I don't know of any other easy to use way to get a balanced, basic growable or basic functionally-ploppable lot into the game. ;) Peter, if you need a hand, then I am happy to assist

thx for all the nice comments! Meanwhile i was working on a building i don't really need for my MD, but which i felt in love with because of its unice berlin style. The administration building of the Reich Printer was a typical brown brick building of historism. Regarding his function as printer for all paperwork of the empire, like money, passports and so on, it was built in the industrial style. Without doubt the tower in the corner makes this building special. It would be maybe a 4x1 corner building but i shortened it to a 3x1 corner piece, following the only two illustrations you can find on the net.

As many other buildings it was destroyed during the second world war and the battle of Berlin. The institution itself still exists until today as the Federal Printer and looks back to a rich history since 1879.
I hope this building will make happy the creators of small towns, middle and eastern european cities and maybe also creators of netherland cities.

meanwhile another BAT i needed to complete the first part of "Unter den Linden". The Sing-Akademie is located just behind the Neue Wache. Even if it is not one of the famous and important buildings on the boulevard, it was build with plans of Schinkel and dominates the space behind Neue Wache. Today it homes the Maxim-Gorki-Theater.

the walls look too clean and maybe the roof too ::).
Auto illumination is nice for interiors, if you are running under 3dsmax, you can check IES lights for outdoor lamps
I love all your work, Peter! Your reconstructions are really fantastic, and they really make my cities shine. I'm looking forward to one day being able to plop the Stadtschloss in one of my cities; it already looks terrific. I hope you'll be able to overcome the difficulties it's given you!

The worn out look of the initial texture certainly had more charm to it, though a bit too much. This is too clean and the shingles look a tad too large. Maybe you can try and create a nice copper blend inbetween?
The roof definitely looks better blue, but I agree with vortext that the old texture has more character. Perhaps you could try adjusting the hue of the old texture to make it bluer?

Been looking around Copenhagen a lot. Here most copper roofs are light green (and there is a lot of them here). Heard its salt from the ocean that makes them even faster green.
For most of the time the copper roof last, its more or less pretty clean. Maybe a little more lighter green.

meanwhile i was going on with another W2W i started in the first days of this year. The Ganymed was and is still one of the famous places to chill out and have a coffee or something to eat. The building was not damaged very hard, but the GDR authorities removed all the ornaments. Only the mosaic stayed. Anyway i was able to do the pre war version using an old blue print.

after finishing the Ganymed i just found the motivation to go on with some w2w projects i've planed for a while. Not only Paris had a lot of belle epoque buildings, also Berlin did. Carlos made a wonderfull addition to any street corner with the Equitable building. But beside that and some other few there are almost no representative corner buildings for non parisian cities. So i deceided to create one more, just to give our cities more variety.

I've no idea about the function or name of the building, as i guess it was just a very noble apartment house, just not far away from Friedrichstraße and Unter den Linden. It is inspired by the one on the right side:

Wow! Especially love that skeletal black dome, it's like the perfect urban porch/lookout. The synagogue is pretty amazing too, also with a beautiful dome.

Wow - Again awesome work! But as all your models started so great, it would be nice to see them finished (Or, even better, ready for download ;)). For example, what happened to the Bellevue or the Café Bauer?
Concerning the roof, I think that there are several possibilities to solve this problem:
- You theoretically could leave out the giant block on the left side of the inner court, as this space contained the famous Wintergarten, having a much lower glass roof.
- You could alter the plans a little bit, so that there is a glass roof above every staircase. Should also cause a nice nightlight effect.
- An iron balustrade on the roof top and some dormer windows being added also should do some work.

Hotel Central looks really promising thusfar, curious to see how the wintergarden turns out.
Now I do have a general question, or request really. Which is to please leave out the Maxis texture when exporting these wonderfull BATs recently. Or any other ground plane for that matter as it tends to be an eye-sore when one is using a custom sidewalk mod, which I'm pretty sure a lot of folks do. Just my two cents, keep up the good work. :thumbsup:

The house of the Hofmarschall was located on Wilhelmplatz and is part of the former government quarter. I rebuilt it using a 3D modelled video as there are no pictures of the facade before it was changed profoundly by the Nazis.

85 years ago, Berlin, Germany and all the world celebrated the premier of the today legendary film "Metropolis" by Fritz Lang. Just for this reason, and because i think that it is a very interesting building, i decided to bat the UFA-Palast am Zoo.

This romanic complex was built in the early years of the 20th century between Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche and the station Bahnhof Zoo as an exebition center. But just some years after it was finished it was remodelled to work as a cinema. In the 20's it became the most famous cinema of Berlin.

A lot of famous films were shown here the first time. During WW2 it was hardly damaged.

The ruins were eliminated and during the 50's a new cinema was built in its place but never became that famous again in the now departed city.

well, the works on the Stadtschloss are going on, but slowly. I had problems with the first patio. As it was not such a piece of art as the famous "Schlüterhof" it is not so well documentated on the internet. Anyway meanwhile i batted the Portal I, one of the side entrances located on the southern facade:

I was following the work of andreas who never finished this project but did the inner renaissance parts. He did a great job, but his interpretation is very far from the original. So unfortunatelly i need to do it again...

thanks for the motivating words! Checking some old BATs i was wondering, that i've never shown here the Reichsschatzamt (Financial Department of the German Reich), which was located on the sothern side of Wilhelmplatz, just next to the famous Hotel Kaiserhof.

It is one of the key buildings to recreate the historic government quarter.

When the department was growing in the beginning of the 20th century, the two buildings next to it where bought, annected and the facades changed to fit with the original building. The building itself was the first one on Wilhelmplatz with a sand stone covered facade. In WW2 it was nearly completelly distroyed and the ruins where removed in 1947.

After finishing the main building of the department of finance i started to bat the other parts of the complex too. Wilhelmstraße 61 was built in 1907 as addition to the frequently growing department:

The building on Wilhelmplatz 2 was used as part of the department since 1894. In 1909 the facade was changed and a additional floor added to fit with the main building.

I am excited to see your latest works. I am looking forward to seeing enough Berlin buildings to rival the many fine Parisian ones we have. It will be great to have a whole themed historic district.
Holy... Is it the Kaiserhof Hotel? It's too awesome to be true! (Just like the Reichsschatzamt and the Art Nouveau building from Friedrichsstraße. Btw, Maybe you should alter the model a little bit and add some kind of a 'top' to the lantern, like a sculpture or an urn? I think with a flat roofed lantern it looks as if something was missing - good work, however!) I cant wait to see more of it...

Great, the Hotel Kaiserhof! I like the model, but I'm not sure about the texture. Was it really all stone in the facade? I didn't do any research of it, but from the pictures I have I was under the impression that it was mostly stucco.
well, infact there were only three buildings atWilhelmplatz with a stone facade: Borsigpalais, Ritterschaftsdirektion and Reichsschatzamt. Kaiserhof was completelly stucco. There are only black and white pictures of the hotel, so that its difficult to say which colour it had. I followed this visualitsations:

For the basic walls i reduced the RGB level to 0,8 while the details are with 1,0. Maybe that gives you the impression, that i used a stone texture aswell. Anyway i will play arround with the textures a bit more but i'm thankfull for any suggestion. You know, that i admire your texturing skills!

Ah, I see. Anyhow, the texture you used does look a bit too "stony". A yellowish tint like the second visualization you posted would look better in my oppinion.

Looks good so far, personally, I would keep the brownish sandstone texture.
But 2 diffenerent things:
How'd up with the Lehrter Bahnhof? Is there any progress, or do you focus on the government quarter right now? Just asking, because I think SC4 needs more ... (and i need a translation for "Kopfbahnhöfe").

cough, cough, seems like a long time has past, since i last posted here. So after reworking kelis' Schauspielhaus i also started with St. Hedwigs-Kathedrale, which is located on Bebelplatz in the center of the german capital.
