Woug, would it be possible to get the downloader to show a small thumbnail picture for the downloads, because I'm going through my donwload history at the moment, re-downloading stuff, and I would like to see exactly what the lot is. It would be really helpful if you could add this feature.
Thanks in advance,
Fred
will look into this, not sure it can be done

...to show a small thumbnail picture for the downloads...
Fred
I don't think this would actually be too difficult depending on how the software handles communicating with the server and how the LEX is setup. If you could remotely access a SQL database it wouldnt be hard at all I would think.
The features I would like to see is sorting by download date or name. Kinda hard to go back and double check to see if you have downloaded something when now of the names are in any kind of order.
I'm not using any SQL web access, and the name are sorted like what you are presented when accessing your download list/history list directly on the LEX
Not hard, just that there are only 24 hours a day :(
Hello Stephane
I downloaded the 'downloader' today.
Program opens up - I see the list and the boxes with the checks.
I click on "download files" button and I get this error
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "BSC LEX Downloader.py", line 288, in OnDownloadSelected
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'C:\\Python24\\SC4Downloader\\dist\\Install_marksandsparks.zip'
ARG, it seems I left my own config.ini in the installer :(
delete the config.ini please
edit: or just change the path where to save the files
I had that problem first time I tried to use it as well. I just created the folder until I had a little more time to play with the program and find the download folder button.
What are you using to program the downloader with? How are you accessing the LEX history etc? I may be able to help out a little though I don't know how much time I would have to put into all of this. I do a lot of PHP/MySQL work as well as a little C/C++ coding
You're a madman, wouanagaine!!! :o
sorry to bother you, im sure you have much better things to do (maybe the x tool LOL) but i cant login to the lex downloader, does it allow for "." in usernames, and for advanced characters in passwords?
EDIT: damn shift key LOL, i tried again and it worked, Thanks for all the great tools you have brought us
Joe
Right, im having trouble Donwloading Anything... it crashed when trying to dl the info or something for both the previously dl'ed cleanitol and the updated BSC Essentials, and also a newly added file
sorry to bring the bad news
Joe
Are you able to download the mentionned files directly from the LEX ?
It is weird, how does it crash ? Does it produce a log file ?
Uh... I can download them from the LEX directly. It just hangs on the
Sorry, me being an total and utter n00b indeed, forgot to change the default destination after install, and it was trying to dl to c:\python or whatever it was, and didn't read the error telling me that this was the problem. maybe this would be a good time to update it to have a different default download location?
Sorry to bother you
on the topic of improving it could we have a logout button? and would it be atall possible to either order the lists in some way, or group them in minimizable groups, for example in there respective LEX groups?
Thanks for creating such an awesome tool
Joe
Good to know everything is ok :)
And your ideas a great, but I'm a bit busy
The lists are sorted in the same way they are on the LEX however ( AFAIR )
well done on your 1k posts :D and what order is that? time of last download? or the order you downloaded them in? or just the id of the file?
Glad to here your busy ;D :D ;D

Hey wouanagaina, I'm currently having problems with the LEX Downloader; the program hangs just after I press "Download Selected". I can't work out why this would be, I've tried re-installing the downloader, but that made no difference. I have used the downloader on this PC before, but it doesn't seem to work anymore :/. I'm running on 32-bit Vista.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Fred
And also.... a security issue... with the password store, could it be possible to store the hash of the password instead of the actual password... BIG security issue...
Joe

Stupid question, but isn't it the same problem as star.torturer ( ie non-existent destination folder ? )

Sorry I didn't think that my tool will be used on a public PC :(
I'll try to upload a patch
No, that's definitely not the problem, I made a point of going to the config.ini and changing it to the correct destination, and it still just hangs at the same place.
Fred
EDIT: Just tried again, but this time I scrolled through the list a bit and unchecked one download and it's working! I dunno if that was what fixed or whether it was just being temperamental, but it's sorted now.
er how do i clear my download history and start afresh... i want to make sure o dont miss anything because its already in my history.... plus you lose the option to add to list a second time....
you have to manualy remove each download on the download history page of the LEX
Joe
The LEX Downloader is a great program. The download history page seems to be a tad unorganized though. Various downloads appear in the list twice, or even three times and there isn't any system that 'orders' the downloads (not alphabetized, ...). Are there plans to update the Downloader?
Great tool, but like on-site, as Caspervg says, organisation could do with some improvement. Sorting download history, at least by date, seems to me an absolute must. A find function would be great, but that's icing on the cake.
There is one other thought: Cleanitol produces - at times - a list & links of missing dependencies. So, why not make that list exportable in Cleanitol, and imporatable in the DL? Couple of clicks and you're up to date.
And if its written in C# or some such (not Python, though - sorry), I can help with the coding. If help is wanted.. $%Grinno$%
I'm having yet more LEX Downloader problems Wouanagaine, the program is just freezing while it is "Retreiving download history...". I have left it running for ages, and it refuses to work. Any help? I think I will have to give up on playing the game (which is rarely anyway) if I can't get the auto downloader working :( - my download list is massive!
Fred
That is probably why... The download list is taking so long to download, and the ammount of information downloaded (just for the dl list) might be exceeding the amount that the dl manager can use.
Or maybe its just that you have an item that is corrupted/duplicated/invallied in some way in the online database... which causes the program to crash/freeze/hang when you donwload that record..
or maybe the legend himself can shed some more light on the situation ;)
Joe
I had the same problem, freedo. Loading up the Download History page at the LEX itself and afterwards restarting the LEX Downloader did it for me. Perhapa you should try that out.

Were some of the files in your download list there before the server switch? If so it's possible the DB entry is corrupt or the relative path to the file has changed.
Yes, probably most of them were there before the switch to the new server. I hope they're not corrupted - that sounds like a bad problem to try and fix. I'll try your tip Casper, and get back to you.
Thanks,
Fred
EDIT: Casper, your trick seemed to work, thanks! The downloader was freezing after I clicked the Download selected button, but I'd had this before so I knew that if you scroll to the bottom of the list and then back up and deselect and reselect a few of them it works. I don't understand why, but it does. Thanks for the help everyone!
Everyone, I have a problem. I registered for the BSC Exchange, and when I clicked on the activation icon on my e-mail inbox, the screen showed the stupid monkey with the CPU saying activation error. So I typed in the activation # with my screen name at the BSC Exchange login screen, and it showed the stupid monkey again. If you know how to solve it, send me a message or e-mail me at: game-nerd@comcast.net. (P.S. I followed directions at the register screen.) ()what()
Monorail Master - if you posted this in the correct place it might help as there is a thread for log-in problems. Can you let me know your LEX login username as Monorail Master is not shown in the database?

You'll need msvcp71.dll and gdiplus.dll
Thanks for the quick reply, tho I am sure I have them from before... I will get them again :)
EDIT: nope... I have them now... but they arnt working... WOOOOOOOO it works now :)
Joe
is it possible to make the downloaded list alfabetical? i am having a hard time finding the correct items.
alfabetical like in alphabetical ? :)
maybe, I'm also willing to only show the outdated history list instead of all your download list
G'Day and thanks for a great tool.
One urgent sugestion. There is a need for us to mass select items in the "download list" so as to enable mass deleation.
My situation "like a great many window users" is that I have had the need to reinstall every thing during a spring clean(a planed {this time at least} reinstall) I wanted to start reinstalling SC4 from scratch (I have copies of my plugin folders) but since so much of what I had has been superceeded and/or rolled into mega patches it seems the prudent thing to do.
BUT In the download history I had 33 pages of previosly downloaded stuff that I wanted to redo, and to click each item( in effect a 2 click process even when using keyboard Accessibility/Mouse shortcuts) was a very tedious chore (and dull).
This is mearly a sugestion (longed for) not a complaint as even as basic as the "BSC LEX Downloader" is it is a great time saver. VERY WELL Done.
Regards Marekus1
I've uploaded a new version !
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg511.imageshack.us%2Fimg511%2F6371%2Fscreenshot053ns0.jpg&hash=1b54ef6cce6134a2461be8a2f20505734d7365f9)
- crypted password ( so you'll have to reenter your password the first time )
- download only new&outdated files option ( instead of downloading 30 pages of files ). It will also give a relief to the LEX server btw
- sorting files by name or by date ( by ID in fact )
- optional result file parsing from cleanitol instead of using the download list of the LEX ( very handy ), if cleanitol complains about missing dependencies, just use the _result.txt from it and it will download all missing files automatically ( only the LEX one of course ) just enter the file before login
- select/deselect all files in one click
- tooltips ballon over buttons etc..
Thanks alot, wounagaine! I'm off to download it now... I wonder if the old LEX Downloader would allow me to download the new one ::)

Hi, I hope somebody still reads this thread. I'm recovering from a system crash and as a few others have stated my download list is massive and the program freezes on list load, I was wondering if a patch that makes all files unchecked on load would fix the load freeze issue? I know nothing about editing config files in this format to test my idea.
Back again with update; uncheck button freezes system with large file list, after unchecking 1/2 of files program works beautiful. I definitely believe an uncheck patch will fix the lockup issue.
Hello everyone, Hope all is well. I am having to start all over.. my backup is history, and didn't make a disk yet for my plugins,, so now i have re installed all in new system, and have a problem...

Nice false positive Mr Norton (actually Mr Symantec, I don't think Peter Norton's been involved for a long time)!
Now to go and un-quarantine it.
Yeah, I have had yellow before, what a nightmare that was. Believe me though, Kaspersky, McAfee is no better. There is so much stuff in the gaming world in general, that all these guys keep screwing up, and can't get their facts straight.
Hello All,
I'm trying to rebuild my files and I found this great program, however, an issue has surfaced.
The program doesn't always clear its download list. For instance, I downloaded all of c.p. files, but while I moved on to download other files, CP Map Grand Canyon remains. Samething is happenning to CAL Murphy's Pub BSC.
Anyway to remove these?
Thanks
