Are you ready for the challenge of Export/Import? You better be!

CHALLENGE 8

Many "Districts" of the Grand Valley have been abandonned by their Mayors, as the Governors makes his counts around the region for those who are left to handle the region's needs.

In a small Mayor-meeting at the Cityhall in one of the bigger cities in GRV, the Governor said within his yearly speech:
" Now that we are less, we have to work more to keep the region in an efficient and healthy condition. Having met the last challenge to stabilize our economics, we now have to export our own products and import those that we need from the outside world. Let's get to work and find a way to make this most efficient and profitable for us. You have my full approval and budget that comes along with it."

The Mayors applauded and are very content of the Governor's decision. This is something most of them have been waiting for. After the meeting, the Governor invited every Mayor present for a round or two in the best tavern in town. Some of us didn't make it home that same night.

In this challenge (number8) we will take care of our Importation and Exportation now that we have mastererd our productivity in most fields. We want to see some pictures of the best way for You to export/import your natural or manufactured products.
From now on, You are allowed to build harbours, airports, giant railstations or whatever you need for ex and/or importation. Do NOT touch Highways yet though. It is still forbidden to build these. Anything else is allowed.

Since we are still in the late summer irl at most places, we will give you a little over a month to realize this job. You will have until October 31th, 2009, midnight EST to create your ex/import facilities. I know, it sounds long, but the busier ones of you  will surely need it. Besides it will help those who have left us during the summer and that want to return to catch up with us.

Like I said above, besides the Highway, You are allowed to build everything else now and also do some heavier landscaping as long as it looks real and within real life regular limits usually offered for this kind of constructions. The sizes don't matter of whatever you have in mind to build, it won't give you any more points if you exagerate it. Keep the size well compared to your region population. Also, you may build several facilities, like for example, one airport and one harbour. You may even build two harbours and two airports, no quantity limits and no limits where to build them.
But remember, we will judge your creations by originality, location and *eyecandy-like* useness or utility. This should not be too hard to do as a challenge and you all probably have already thought about where to build a harbour or airport, right. One more thing, I hope you will not destroy too much residential, commercial or industrial area to build your ex/import *thingy*, we don't want the economic situation to be changed and dramatized too much, we'll be watching you if you make major changes in these categories. Just make it look realistic and practical.

Then, you probably had an important event or disaster in your region, something that made the first page of the newspaper and everyone in your region was talking about for a few days or weeks. We want to see one picture of this. Anything from an important murder or grand bank theft to a gigantic explosion or toronado or a small disaster. Anything that made the regional News. Make it interesting and good looking while keeping it within normal expectations (No UFO's noe ET's please). We will judge how real it *could* be, the originality and the how it looks on the picture. Take your time and give us something "amazing".

To show this time in your 8th Update:

1.   Two (2) regional pictures , one in satelite and one in transportation mode. Please do not distort the pictures too much, we want to see what is on it. A detailed explanation of what is where would be appreciated.

2.  At least two (2) pictures of every Ex- and/or Import facility you have created in a full view (like view 3 or 2) and a more detailed closer view (like view 4 or 5). Make sure you show us everything, it will be important. You have no max for those pictures, you may use as many as needed, but please be reasonable. Also mention the lettered Tile they are build in.

3.  One (1) Action picture of any event/disaster etc that occured in your region lately together with an interesting story/explanation. It doesn't matter whether the picture was taken during or after the happening.

Hope you will again enjoy this challenge and hopefully it will not be too much for you. Good luck.

Fred and Lynn

I didn't think I had a chance at challenge 8. But now there are possibilities as it's the import/export challenge.

The city of Kilburn (located in Tile A) discovered vast reserves of oil during challenge 7. Yep, the discovery of nearly 830 billion barrels of bubbling crude has me feeling lucky. My production goal is 8,000 barrels a day, and the reserves are expected to bring $9 billion to the city budget.

Before this oil thing I was pretty down to earth. But I just had to go out and buy me a new set of flashy clothes and a Mercedes.

The governor will get his cut I'm sure.  ;)

Glad you all will be ready. Although this challenge will not be too hard on you (and myself ;) ) it will be judged how ingenious you held up to it.

Oh, btw......I hope the cut from your oil will be worth it...., Jim.... ;)

Good luck

Just to clarify, 2 pictures from region view, 1 transportation, and 1 satellite, not two of each, right?

I like this one. As a matter of fact, I was anticipating building an airport at some point (and you'll see what I mean once I get the challenge done and posted. Until then, have fun building.
