I'll get the ball rolling.

Here's my dell inspiron 1525. It's a little tattered on the outside, and probably even more on the inside!

I do love my computer(s), particularly my laptop. In lieu of any real children of my own these things are my babies, so it wasn't hard to twist my arm to show it's photo...

  • MacBook Pro 2.4ghz
  • Intel core 2 duo
  • 3gb ram
  • NIVIDIA GeForce 8600 dedicated video card
  • Mac OS X 10.6 + Windows 7 + Windows XP

I have a G5 desktop as well, the screen of which can just be seen right of shot, but as he's going on 6 years old he's not as cute anymore and I don't take so many photos.

Whoa, a lot of storage Andreas!  I don't know who'd need 2.5TB of storage. Very impressive machine

Yes Andreas that's an awesome machine, I just hope that the -10 is outside your house! :)

2.5TB, backups? I can't imagine what else you could have to fill up that amount of space?

thingfishs

well I've got 3.75 TB of combined storage and will need more soon. That's nearly half a TB of mp3s, 1.5TB of movies/TV, primarily comedy. Another half a TB of music production samples and software. Another half a TB or so of video for ongoing film production work. Plus all manner of bits & pieces and yeah, another TB is on the books. I should of course have a backup of all this as well but that's just getting ridiculous.

Well, in my case, that's only so much storage space because I have everything backupped. ;) One external 500 GB HD is entirely for backups of the internal HDs, and the other 500 GB HD contains my music and video collection (including countless hours of webradio recordings). The 1 TB HD is relatively new, containing a backup of the MP3s and AVIs, and I also keep my entire collection of programs, drivers etc. ready on one of these HDs, so if I ever need to reinstall my system, I don't have to juggle countless CDs and DVDs. And since I do PC service now and then, it's always nice to have some 100 or 200 GB free for backing up other people's data. :)

EDIT: I also have some 30 GB SC4-related stuff on my HD, which includes my plugin folders, the entire uploads for SimCityKurier, everything that I have downloaded, and the contents of the BSC LEX DVD and similar - so yes, I can easily fill my HD(s) will all kinds of stuff.  :P  And yes, the -10°C is outside - dropped to -11,1°C as we speak, with falling tendency...

Nice idea for a thread darraghf!  I should take a picture of my computer "desk top" sometime.  Love the contrast between the modern and old school screens, Andreas!

Regarding storage, I don't even have 1TB, although I am planning on getting a cheap 1.5TB external drive sometime.

I.... kind of painted it, eh. I... was bored of its endless white colour, I guess - I don't really know, i did that when it was like 3am, ah ah.

Anyway here's a most recent picture of it. ( note that my keyboard is suffering even more. :D )

Speaking of computers, anyone have a spare Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad knocking about? My CPU is starting to show its age.

Problem long solved thanks to a local friend.
