Title: BATs by DaveN
Post by: DaveN on April 14, 2011, 06:30:05 AM
Hello everyone.
I'm here on the forum a new user. I come from Poland and I wanted to present my work in BAT.

The first three are the works that I've done more characteristics of the gmax. Project which is already working out a little more complicated. I must admit that there is still much to learn from me when it comes to 3D modeling. However, I would love to hear any comments and suggestions.

I present below my achievements.

The first building was built in two versions as you can see, with sloping roof and simple.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg861.imageshack.us%2Fimg861%2F1269%2Ffoto3l.jpg&hash=6d0ec33de94eecaf025ae0e9bc9892a1f48673a6)

Then I made a block, similar to blocks built in the 60's of the twentieth century in Poland. I made it in four different colors. Two dirty old and two renovated.

Then there is a small house.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg40.imageshack.us%2Fimg40%2F8073%2Ffoto13c.png&hash=ca1ca7e3a58ee1ead3d7e36c2995983cd88b2db9)

And the last project on which I work.

Thank you in advance for your comments and welcome this noble group.

A warm welcome to you.
So far it looks great.  Can you place another building beside yours?  They look a little low.
I like the 60s block buildings, but the yellow one looks to bright.

My two cents....

I know that the yellow of the game looks fairly clear, but they paint the blocks which are after warming and renovation. Therefore, I created a little darker version. It is definitely better in the game.

Like I said earlier there are still plenty of work ahead of me because gmax still has many secrets to me and I learn it by trial and error.

Cordialy Regards and thanks for first comment and waiting for more.

The blocks are fine, can't wait to see them released. The other bat looks good too, except for the roof textures. I would recommend getting this pack: http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/16386-odds-roof-textures-for-batters/

Hello again.
I present today a further progress. I must admit that the work progressed slowly, because until I learn. It was last floor in the middle of the wall. And then the back of the building.

From satellite pictures, I know that the building is U-shaped and has a slightly sloping roof. I do not know yet how to do the roof, especially in those curves on the front wall.

Please, all kinds of suggestions.

I hope you will understand what I write, because I use the online translator.

Hello again.

Today I completed a general idea of the shape of the building. This is a test render far. I just wanted to see how it will be presented in the game.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg215.imageshack.us%2Fimg215%2F8668%2Ffoto20.png&hash=9f22efad240a1e7b16e9af9671497d44591f6736)

I have to do the roof and roof elements such as chimneys, antennas, etc. And here I have a problem. I do not know enough yet to move in to deal with it. If you can you ask for any tips. I do not have any photos. As discussed earlier the roof is low slope. But I do not know how to solve the case of curved ends of the walls.

What do you think?

If I can solve the problem of the roof with your help I would still do this version of the corner of the building.

Please comment.
I'm not afraid of criticism and praise add any energy to continue working.
Best Regards
DaveN

Hello again.
After several amendments and changes for my first serious BAT has been completed.

Now only I must do some LOTS of CS$$ and R$$ and I will be able to get the next project.

I must admit that a lot of work was with him, but all in all a fantastic game.

Best wishes and I look forward to hearing your opinions as you think about it.

Great building although the building is very clean maybe you should try to place some dirt on the textures.
And the windows are very dark. Maybe you should try to make it a bit more transparant

It is clean, because it is after the recent restoration and the city looks very impressive. Therefore, the texture, which I used are clean. This is one of the few buildings renovated as well in my town.
Title: Re: BATs by DaveN

I like it a lot, although it seems a bit small. Could you plop it next to one of Porkissimo's Parisian W2W's (or Feroxx' Polish ones, whichever you prefer :P)
Also, I think the roof texture may need to be a bit more "roofy". Currently it looks like the roof is one concrete slab, which I assume it isn't. So you may want to try and use a texture that has actual roof tiles on it. Same goes for the side and rear walls by the way. Please try to use a brick texture on them.

Some things may have missed, some little change.
I did as much as I could. This is my fourth in total work in BAT and try to create a trial.

Your BAT looks pretty good, some detail missing, as you've said, but very nice for your first creations. You'll get even better with more practice. I'd just suggest to stretch it a bit on te Z axis, it looks too squashed.

My previous W2W house was completed. It's version GROW of the CS$$ and R$$.

You can download it from page http://www.simcitypolska.pl/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=252
I invite all interested. The readme file with any information.

Now I present the progress of work on another project.

This is another building designed by Joseph Swiecicki. In my city is still about 20 buildings of its projects.
As time permits it will gradually emerge next.

I also ask for comments both positive and negative. Thank you also for all the previous comments. I will try to use them for subsequent projects.

I finished another project, but there are a few errors after rendering.
One outbuilding roof is distorted, disappeared texture windows and outbuildings of the building also disappeared. The texture disappeared other several smaller parts.

Does anyone know what might that be? I tried to do some renderings, but every time there is an error.

Please help in resolving the problem.

Below I present an existing problem and ask for help.

The distortion on the texture may be caused if you used the mirror tool. For mirroring in Gmax it's better to use the mirror modifier. About the disappearing textures, that's a common issue in gmax, I don't remember exactly why but I think it can be solved by reloading all textures before exporting.

Below I present an existing problem and ask for help.

I guess you're talking about the rear view where the left wing has a roof texture that looks like it is running in two different directions?

I think what I'd do (if it were my bat) would be to islolate that roof section and hide all other building parts. From the top view trace the roof using the line tool. UV map the line. Dlete the unwanted roof. Apply your texture and it should be ok.

You might have to create a second texture and rotate 90 degrees to have the roof tiles going the correct directions but that's a function of your paint program - or use the UV map gizmo tool but making a second texture is easier (my opinion at leat) ...

Now for some critique... this is a nice looking bat with great geometry on the front facade. I don't know the scale but a good rule of thumb is to make the upper stories of buildings 5 meters high. Sometimes the ground floor can be taller as I've made ground floors 7.5 or 10 meters depending on the function of the building.

I'm also going to encourage you to find another roof texture like tar paper or gravel as the roof looks flat and/or not steeply sloped.

Good Luck

- Jim

Nice work, about the textures what Debussyman suggest works, but it is a painful task, what I discovered is that if you "clean" your texture list (making sure you only leave the ones you actually using makes a big difference. I would recommend you to move to 3ds Max if you can, you only need a .edu e-mail to get it for free.
Title: Re: BATs by DaveN
Post by: DaveN on April 22, 2011, 01:55:27 PM
DebussyMan:
In the beginning was made by using the "mirror", but when I began to experience problems, have created their own again. I removed all the texture and uploading it again. It did not help.

jmyers2043:
In general, texture, and so the roof will be replaced with better, and I turn it 90 degrees on the roofs of outbuildings. It was a test render to see how it will look like in the game. And when you see the problems stopped further applied textures.

I created the roof line tool again. I removed the old one. I put the texture again, and the effect is the same. The same situation is with other parts of the wing. All the elements are tilted texture. And worse, everything looks in gmaxie okay, so I do not know how to set them to the rendering turned out well.

As for the height at the moment with endings roof is 27 meters. But the amount will be matched to other buildings. The amount compares with buildings created by ferox, which is also the same time giving me the directions to eliminate mistakes.

As I've already written the texture on the roof will be replaced because she actually does not look good.

harishna:
I checked to see if there are only the textures that I use. Even deleted the all the textures and started to put them once more. The effect is the same. I checked whether or not I made a mistake in the UVW Map. But there also all is well. Therefore I have no idea what is the cause.

For now I'm learning and I'm not strong enough to try to work on another program. Maybe someday.

Thank you for your help. I will still try to fix these errors, maybe something will result, and I can finish the project.

Of course, all the time waiting for help, suggestions and criticism

EDIT: Ok. I managed to solve the problem. DebussyMan you were right. The problem arises by using the mirror. Even a small detail copied and turned this option causes the entire section of the building is crooked texture. It only improves the height of a few meters and you can start making lots.

By the way, I must also raise the previous project, and set it in a properly aligned with the W2W buildings.

I also met some texture to why they disappear. The solution is to upload it again using the option "material editor". After uploading and making sure that it is selected a small blue-white cube, all problems cease to exist.

Thank you again for your valuable advice. They helped a lot and helped a little bit better understand the program. With each subsequent draft my knowledge and skills will grow. I believe that the fourth and fifth design is pretty good.

EDIT 2:
Ok. I managed to finish these two projects on which I worked lately. Yet to establish their lots and will be ready. Below the effect of today's working on a new apartment building. He is also Joseph Swieciski's project. But with less gusto.
What do you think about this project.

There are a few things still to be added and I have more to hide a semicircle above the windows on the first floor. Escaped my notice. Only after looking at the front in all noticed this oversight.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg847.imageshack.us%2Fimg847%2F6642%2Ffoto29.png&hash=4e8a967b4501a5894c1731f6cd632c1c074aadce)

Then he will be the back wall and the roof of the building and texturing.

Waiting for feedback.

I cordially greet and thank you for your time

Just finished work on the third tenement. Although it was the easiest to implement, provoked me a lot of other technical problems. In the end I managed to sort them out.
Probably tomorrow it will arrange some LOTs. It will be a version of GROW R$ for 2x2 and 2x3 plot.

As if anyone wanted it after Sunday will be available on all 3 at the www.simcitypolska.pl

It is true that the first two are already out there, but I got the information that they are a little bad set and I have to slightly adjust the lots. Therefore, if someone had already downloaded, please download again past Sunday and delete the old versions.
And the result looks like this is my job. (This building in the middle, is the result of today's work).

I'm not sure about this but I had heard plopable residentials tend to get abandoned, so it wouldn't be a good idea to make it so. I would also suggest you to use omni lights for the enlightenment, specially for the ground-level floor.  Anyway I like the modelling.

I know that residential plopable is abandoned. I wrote that will create a growable lots R$. Popable I making only Landmarks. I use an interpreter, and perhaps the word "plot" of the Polish were poorly translated. I wanted to write that the lots will be about the size of 2x2 and 2x3.

But thank you for your attention and advice. I see at least that you are trying to help the novice.

By the way, I noticed that I forgot to finish the rustication on the ground floor windows :) (there's nothing like blindness, combined with fatigue from all-day staring at a monitor) so I introduced a small correction and the model went to the re-rendering.

Hello again.
After a short break returned to build houses in Bydgoszcz Joseph Swiecicki projects. This time it will corner tenement. I immediately question for you. How many can have a building to fit on the 2x2 and that was well positioned in relation to other buildings W2W?

I must admit that modeling gives me lot of fun, but when you start texturing it is a nightmare. Do you know of any patent how to choose colors to create BATs? I have with this big problem, because for example, a project which is now working is actually very clear and if I wanted to reproduce the texture is stepped out almost white. That is why I allowed myself to a little experiment with textures and would love to hear what you think, or can this be?

At the outset that the building is not yet captured the ground floor and attic and across the rear of the building. As well it is not yet scaled the heights. But I'm waiting with impatience for your feedback and suggestions.

And now I present the fruit of my hard work today :)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg12.imageshack.us%2Fimg12%2F899%2Ffoto35.png&hash=617e9c43348c4910a50cbd3724cc081a27e7b114)

Let me add in passing that if someone interested in the earlier three houses that are available for downloading from the www.simcitypolska.pl.

Best regards

Welcome to the another beautiful day.

Today I finished modeling the corner house. This is my first corner house, so if you notice any errors let me know.

I have to admit that the painting, which I showed yesterday was changed. At the insistence of my mentor Ferox, I made a version of his painting reminiscent of the original, and earned a second, somewhat darker version as a reflection of view mirror. Firstly the inverted version of the darker than the original and then the original version of the law. I hope that you liked to finish it took me all night.

And here it is. I hope you like it.

Thank you very much for your words of appreciation. I try as I may, that is what I was like the most refined. After all, there are many things in gmax, which can not. I'm trying as long as you reach the desired effect

Below I have already completed projects in a night light. I hope you will enjoy them.

At the moment I'm working on another project already building. It is quite unusual, because it is not a corner tenement, but one side is the free space, which is the access road to the rear of the building. In addition, the wall space is not a blank wall, but in her window. That is why such an unusual project. I'm going to make it to the SC4 corner house, and built-W2W, except that the clearance between the mask to form the next building wall with a gate on the property.

I like this building. However, I think the texture should have less saturation. This can be achieved by using an image editing program. I took the liberty to lower the saturation on your image just to proove my point.

Some roof junk should be added too.

EDIT: This haste and the fact that my topic is also run on the Polish side of the note I wrote here in Polish :) Of course, is already translated. Incident occurred as hardest sorry

And now. Today I finished building, which recently showed that the fast. I fixed the textures and added elements on the roof. It seems to me that now looks better. Simple, neglected building, which in any city can be seen in large numbers.

Nice progress, Dave.  I especially like the new textures and the general dilapidatedness of the building.  Of course, the roof junk makes a world of difference, too.

Hello again.
A little bit I was not here, but that's only because I was busy creating another add-on. The overall mass is already finished. Was to create a rear wall, and blind, and a few minor amendments.

I hope that you will fall to the taste. Later still be tailored to the size of the plot. Although it is quite unusual building, as a wall adjacent to the building, while the second wall is not blind and it's entry into the rear of the property. I plan to do this building as a building corner. Leaving such an unusual version of a replication of the original, and the creation of stone wall with a gate, so that the building was 100% built to W2W.

Here is the today progress:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg28.imageshack.us%2Fimg28%2F8149%2Ffoto42y.png&hash=2ba27c4be5e2d26370f9aff4d63e1d71ddc9f370)

This lighter version of a similar original. Darker version of this slight modification of colors, and placed on the side wall with a gate to match the building as a building W2W. Later i will make this even clearer, and I'll make it a corner so that it fit into the building W2W. As the effects are like? Are there any comments or criticism? As always, welcome your answers are, as they allow me to continue during the elimination of errors in subsequent buildings.

Regards. Have a nice viewing and commenting.

EDIT: I have a question. I did a LOT as a library and I have a little problem. I gave at the beginning of 200 when it comes to coverage. I wanted to test how it goes in the game. It turned out that the range is small and I wanted to correct it in the desc file. But as I entered the value of 1000 or even 2000 is not expanded coverage.
And here I have a question:
What is wrong?
or:
Did I edit some value in the Plugin Manager, I have to once again create LOT's to properly operate these values?

I changed the texture of bricks. I gave her another one, and additionally highlighted with a little bit, so it is not so bright. I changed the texture of the roof.
I miss his way of simulating the texture of the roof of tar paper. So if anyone has and would be willing to share it please.

As for the texturing I have a problem with that, since my collection of textures is still quite large. On the other hand have a problem with distinguishing colors, resulting in even more difficult for me to correct texturing models. Some things I simply feel.

Now the building looks like this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg706.imageshack.us%2Fimg706%2F5551%2Ffoto43.png&hash=64794e2f2e09eafc18a43bda9fe17d0e666ce5ea)

What do you think?

Thank you DebussyMan for criticism.

The real building, just as I have already written is quite unusual, because on the one hand does not adhere to the next. It is between him and the next building clearance. In contrast, the satellite pictures in the shape of the building is close to the square. That's peculiar beauty.
The real building is as such:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg151.imageshack.us%2Fimg151%2F7541%2Ffoto44f.jpg&hash=9f144012552f4474f37b409d456a1d7fb3a4dbc6)

My version is darker and the texture seems to me to be more difficult than modeling. I earned here wall with a gate to fit it into the building W2W.

I do not have large amounts of textures and still learning. Otherwise, the buildings are painted in reality and it feels good, and otherwise they have to be tekstured to look good in the game. There is still much work ahead of me. A and shape of the building may not like it. In the end I'm also not all the buildings that I liked the city. But the difficulty is that as I want to map the building is trying to retain as much detail and the correct proportions. Sometimes the problem is, because you have to find the right proportions. In this case I have to go for a compromise. Definitely it would be easier if I made my own models. Then all of the details would have been easier to create and proportions would look better. Building on the tile 1x1 is too large, while the 2x2 is a little too small. I had to find some intermediate size.

Hmmmm... I can't really put my finger on what's wrong with your model.  :-\
Apart from it been too squashed on the Z axis, it looks too "boxy", the trimming doesn't really convince me. Also,  from what I can tell from your picture, the tower is too far into the building...

I'll try to analyze it deeper and give some concrete suggestions.

Edit: I'd also like to see a picture of the street side of your model  ;)

Hello again.

I fixed some latest model. Fixed tower, placed below the roof, and changed the texture on the roof and the dome of the tower. So far, only a clear version, because I want to know if I follow in the right direction.
If you notice a that this building nothing can not be blamed, then the improved version of the darker and I will do as a mirror for a clearer version.
The following views from two directions:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg695.imageshack.us%2Fimg695%2F4015%2Ffoto45.png&hash=eb66c096d0258a6266c35499f481868a38e4a386)

Tell me what you think about it now.
Waiting for the suggestion, I'm not afraid of criticism, because you continue to grow.

EDIT:
I made a few amendments the ornate tower. I think that it is now about in terms of a model. At most they can be confident any more comments on the texture. I look forward to your comments.
Now it looks like this:

Welcome.

Some days I was gone, but it's because of increased work, seem to me, the most complex project to date have done. The building built in two versions. Version with annexes is practically completed. Only think about changing the texture felt roof, the other textures are taken from the original building and put a little cosmetic treatments. However, the version without the annexes will be "repainted".

Version with annexes:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg62.imageshack.us%2Fimg62%2F2489%2Ffoto53.png&hash=2fa68a1f0341943525df82ed8a8c6f5453fdc4a4)

Version without annexes:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg600.imageshack.us%2Fimg600%2F3148%2Ffoto51.png&hash=c4a646ad9beb42305861ce821eab1e6fc50281c5)

But tell me what you think? Maybe there is still something that escaped my notice, and would have to be improved? I cordially greet and wait for suggestions and guidance.
And thank all those who already are engaged in this thread.

I agree with making the walls that will touch other buildings to appear more dirty and have either exposed brick or  chipping stucco, or even better, an advertisement! Perhaps even adding different colours of brick so that they show how the building may have had additions made to it throughout its history.

Keep up the awesome work!

Seraf:
For sure my buildings are not too low. Are scaled to the other, created by Glenni's, whether Ferox or other.
Let's see. If something else is so interesting that it would be worth doing. Thanks again for your recognition.

baconrocky:
At the moment the buildings that make up most of the buildings in good condition or have recently been renovated. Therefore present themselves very clean. I will try to make even the less representative and thus more dirty buildings. These are the beginnings of my case and texturing I have the most problems. With time, will become more proficient. In any case I hope that the present achievements do not have to be ashamed of, and every note, every praise, or even any criticism, makes it even harder to get down to work on another project and devote even more attention to all comments.

Thank you for your comments and invite further comments, advice.

Hello again.

After a several lack of progress in work on another project, I managed to complete the overall massing of the building.
There is still work to do on the other input, the invisible hand, several smaller pieces, any amendment to the textures and minor details and at the end of scaling.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg217.imageshack.us%2Fimg217%2F6446%2Ffoto62.png&hash=3877f147da1eea679a75b62b544a272e9c752608)

I fixed some texture. I finished the whole body of the building. Earned a frame at the entrance gate. There are still some minor details, such as switch blades on the towers and at the end of scaling.

I have a question now as to the texture you like.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg580.imageshack.us%2Fimg580%2F6937%2Ffoto63.png&hash=26f7502847ef78da3294796fcd6efdbb6987eace)

Like something I ask for comments because of the textures that I will always have a problem by not distinguishing between some colors:)

If you will not be too many comments that maybe tomorrow or the day after I manage to completely finish the project.

Best wishes and I look forward to comments.

Nice preview.
It's coming along nicely.
May I suggest that you make the textures on the roof a bit dirtier and the slates from the rectangle tower a bit smaller. They're looking compared to the others a bit big. It also seems that the rectangle tower isn't really straight. Is that right?
How ever it's a wonderful BAT with almost too much realism for in the game

the only alteration i would suggest is the terracotta roof map needs a little size tweaking and perhaps alter the texture so that the black/grime is grayer

is this a building that you have designed?

Hi all welcome.
Recently I was a little busy with other things and did not have time for modeling. I'm doing a small renovation in an apartment associated with painting and making furniture.

peter007:  Thank you for your comments, of course, try to lightly stain the roof.

superhands: So far these are not my own creative projects and as the most accurate mapping of existing buildings.

Aaron Graham: Aaron Thanks for the tips. Of course, reduces the size of the tiles on the large tower. I'll also do some other things on the roof, to not look so empty, even though in reality there is nothing on the roof.

In the meantime, I created another simple house, this time from the city Ilawa.

Waiting for tips and other observations. Greetings to all and I hope that next week I will have a sufficient amount of time.

Hello.

Thanks for any suggestions and comments.

I was not here for several days. I was a little busy. I was making furniture in the room my daughter.

But in the meantime, I spent several minutes in BAT.
In the past few weeks was such a rural house here W2W.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg695.imageshack.us%2Fimg695%2F7281%2Ffoto89.png&hash=f59ca5554e5f6a78d4e45051bcb443008a775577)

The first of a series of blocks of buildings modeled on the emerging during the 70's.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg96.imageshack.us%2Fimg96%2F7023%2Ffoto95.png&hash=59925bd48e06c2b9afe24ecde0915c022016f7b9)

And now I'm working on the church of Ustka. Because I noticed a small deficit of small churches in the game.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg705.imageshack.us%2Fimg705%2F4582%2Ffoto105.png&hash=155adceb20c91c7f3d1c26f3216b41a357cd6f8a)

As for the church that lacks even a few small details, as well as a few textures and night lighting. How goes well, then maybe I can finish it tomorrow and start to make minor corrections.

The queue is still a few others. Here I present a two-day progress of work on the newest addition. I have started several other projects, but due to little progress, I decided not to post them yet.

By the way, I have a question: I want to make their buildings in the LE in such a way that built on the slopes. Where and what value I have to write to the buildings built without visible foundation of the game? Or if you know where is a good guide for LE?

Nice new Bats you've been working in lately.

The church is specially interesting, very nice detailing. Although... I have some suggestions regarding the textures.

First, the stained glass windows are too colorful and bright. One usually doesn't see much of the glass color from outside, but rather a a dark surface with some hints of chromatism, but for SC4 purposes, I'd just go for a dark blue glass. For example:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Feltiemporecobrado.files.wordpress.com%2F2010%2F03%2Fchartres2.jpg&hash=e849310b949f5f983875ffd2a36f8800d4fd6c25)

The roof texture seems a little bit repetitive, maybe making the tiles a bit larger and giving it some gradient would do the trick.

Finally, the wall texture seems bland, I can't really tell if its brick or stone, but the texture you currently have makes it look like adobe, which would be very unlikely for this kind of architecture.

About your question... you can use custom foundations or no foundation at all (making the building extend beyond Z0 in BAT). I remember there were tutorials about this... but I don't recall where.   ()sad()

Hi after a long break. Despite the lack of time in the last days I was able to start or finish several earlier projects.

COMMENTS:
Tomas Neto: Thanks. I try as I can. Still needs some improvements, but most is already done.

io_bg: Some of them are already available on www.simcitypolska.pl. Some have not, because they require minor amendments.

mrbisonm: Thanks. I try as I can. Still needs some improvements, but most is already done.

delija21: Thanks. Therefore I invite you to familiarize yourself with the latest portion of the projects we are currently working.

Silur: Many thanks. Pre-fab blocks and the church no longer strikes a blue color. The blocks are textures on the windows. Stained glass windows in the church were also dim. There has also been second model block. I plan to create 3 more models and let everything as a pack.

Supremec: Greatly thank you for your appreciation. I'm glad you like for.

DebussyMan: Thanks for the kind words. Especially from someone who is doing perfectly religious buildings. Stained glass windows in the church were dimmed. As for the texture of this work a roof over it yet. You may have to extend or replace it if I can find something interesting. As for the texture of the walls, then frankly I liked it and I think it looks good. There are some photos taken from the church. In addition, I received from a friend a few photos of the church and it turned out that the left is still side entrance, which I have to do.

Below I present some further work we are currently working. Of course, the earlier will be completed after the improvement, but in recent weeks, I have very little time.

The resulting second version of color to the one presented earlier building.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg534.imageshack.us%2Fimg534%2F707%2Ffoto107.png&hash=6ed9a1c5e32f38ef580ce8134c54cec2729537c8)

The Church, as I wrote requires the addition of the entry on the left. But in the meantime darkening were stained and fixed minor bugs.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg638.imageshack.us%2Fimg638%2F2301%2Ffoto120.png&hash=357de8918e5c5d9185409ea29c145f8952ffd097)

Also among the blocks was the second model.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg31.imageshack.us%2Fimg31%2F3392%2Ffoto121.png&hash=d85b4426d924837345b65b89e51e32e2e36a2b62)

It was created also another house from Bydgoszcz. This time it is a house of Marshal Foch 4th Street.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg827.imageshack.us%2Fimg827%2F2777%2Ffoto113.png&hash=d8b90dd2ad8ef697c43ec229dc6c6caf848b188a)

He also built the adjacent building. In fact, it is building a similar facade, but the corner. But it turned out that I can not fit on a plot of 1x1, since the corner is a projecting, semi-circular tower, and because the sides are after 14 meters, I can not fit into the W2W.

Therefore, the uprising as a 2x2 corner modeled on the original. In the meantime, I created a 2x2 version of the enclosed annexe.

I hope that the new round of projects will fall to you to taste. Any suggestions and comments indicated. It will help me to eliminate errors and improve further in the development of new bats.

After the valuable remarks introduced small modification of the texture of the roof. Now looks much better. I hope that you like. In order, however, nothing is wasted, earlier version can also be future gatherings. In the end, not everything is always perfectly done.

Now it looks like this:

Your modelisation skills are good as your work on the textures.

Just the lights need to be worked again according to me. Maybe trying auto-illumination map  &Thk/(

Anyway excellent job on this building  ;)

peterycristi: Many thanks. I try to take inspiration the best. While the caissons modeling and texturing I am doing quite well, with the lighting I have a big problem. The fact is below.

metavro: Thanks very much. I tried to fit in and yet not do a very bright house.

Hello.
After the recent comments I decided to try to work on the lights. For the first tests I created a simple ubic house with four windows. As a first technique for testing I took the windows glow with varying intensity. I encountered a problem. Introduce you to a picture, and below I will describe the different phases of trials.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg705.imageshack.us%2Fimg705%2F8192%2Ffoto125.png&hash=e27eb499fd29652a3f23163a5bc9dff275b512f0)

The upper house is highlighted in the picture window without differentiation parameters. The "Global idensity = 1.0". As you can see the windows lit.

The middle picture shows the light intensity and variety. Window A = Idensity enabled and set to 0.9, B = 0.7, C = 0.5, D = 0.3. And all the windows remained unlit. Of course, all the windows tell the prefix "nite" in their name.

The following picture shows a return to global settings. Idensity turned off at each of the windows. The remaining value of the "Global idensity." And as you can see the return of light is also not lit.

I do not know how to solve this problem

Therefore I decided to try for his first BAT, who shared the ST. Trials with different light saturation in windows also failed. I decided to try setting the Omni and spot lights. By the way the whole house modeled again, leaving practically only slightly changed front. I put a different texture, similar to those of the original version. Now the building is as much so and I managed to do a test light.

What do you think? Do you know any links to good tutorials on lighting? Waiting for suggestions and comments.

Hello David

Andreas said a long time ago that SimCity is a rooftop game. And he's right when you think of the top down view. One of the challenges is to add some interest to a roof. Many roofs have Air conditioning, chimneys, and antennas. But what do you to those open areas that are supposed to look like a partly cloudy day or a roof where water has settled in a corner and dirt has collected? It is tough to find the perfect picture and anyone can add a lot of roof junk. So I spend a lot of time in a Paint program altering images.

I have Paint Shop Pro. The last time I knew, Jeroni, and Pegasus also used Paint Shop. Some of the folk in the BSC have the more expensive Photoshop. I believe that Tag_One uses GIMP which (I think) is a free download. So you'll forgive me if I demonstrate something in Paint shop because I'm not sure what you use for graphics and texturing.

I'll start with this picture of stone aggregate pavement. I like it because it already has some horizontal and  vertical cuts and I'll not have to draw them in.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FAGG001.jpg&hash=5782228c3cdc48995d15e0a383753c9d2ab9381e)

I don't want it to look like a photograph on my roof so I took away all the color and will disguise the stone by using the pixelizing tool. Makes it look kind of cartoon like.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FAGG002.jpg&hash=21aec5c5b190b84eeb6f6fe5c0713742975a2e23)

Here are the layers I'm going to use to add some shadows to the roof. The top left picture is the base layer, my pixelated stone. Layer 1 (top right). Blend mode is darken at 10% opacity. Layer 2 (Lower Left). Blend mode is Burn at 10% opacity. And the lower right is the end result.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2Falllayers.jpg&hash=60abe225d0e89a7356cd9f6a3e57fb34c6924945)

Let's see how it looks on my Diner. Not bad. There are dark shadows made by the diffusers and Air Conditioning. Lighter shadows of the roof texture simulate dirt around the edge of the roofline. For every hour I spent in gmax I spend two hours in a paint program. Sometimes I get it right the first time. Other times it will take all evening of experimentation until I'm satisfied.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FFranks.jpg&hash=e2aee93087e14d7cbd67df55b25c89f4720415ec)

I alter almost every texture and I even add gradients to brick. I think the side walls of some of your buildings and some of the roofs could use some gradients or shadows.

Good Luck with your flat roofs.

Jim: Thank you for the great comment, and share skills. Well understood in this example, what was the matter. Certainly these messages useful to me in working on textures. In fact it looks much better. More vividly and more natural.
When it comes to various things on the roof, the matter is such that the image of the buildings in my city, and here the situation is so that if something is already on the roof of a rule are the chimneys, and from time to time television aerials. For residential buildings will not find a such things as air conditioners. Such things are in commercial buildings and is also rare. Therefore, usually a lot of things on the roofs gone. Very often compare their buildings with others who create a similar style, such as Ferox with BSC or Kontrabass of SimCityPolska who also reflect Polish style. Also look at the buildings SFBT or xannepan, which have a similar style. And on the other hand, if the original roof has one or two chimneys are so well is my model. But I think what to do. Thank you for your valuable advice. I certainly have benefited and will be very helpful. Also will try to work even on models I presented in this thread.
Title: Re: BATs by DaveN
Post by: jmyers2043 on September 14, 2011, 07:55:01 PM
Hello David.

I was thinking about the side walls of the buildings. My minds eye sees a painted block or brick facade where the paint is faded and peeling. I'm going to use these images for my Simcity illusion. You'll recognize the image I grabbed from Sketchup Warehouse (lower left). I darkened the image a lot and the facade seems to have turned into an earth tone mustard color. There is an image of some peeling paint on a brick wall, an image of the Maxis block texture that has been arrayed vertically and horizontally, and a cloudy pattern.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FStartingImages.jpg&hash=d36b04352c126ecf6208e896e16a1eb976820d75)

I know that the side of my building is twice as high as it is wide. I also know that I'm going to apply the Sketchup texture to the front of the model. The side wall has to match the color. So I'll flood a new 300X600 project with the mustard color paint. I also flood portions of the brick wall texture with the same color. Leaving some white spots. I hope the white spots will add some random lightness when I layer and blend. I'll pixelate it so it looks less like a photograph. This first layer is blended using 'normal' mode. I forget what opacity. I use the Paint Shop 'Magic Wand' for the next layer. Grabbing some of the bricks from the original wall as I think that I'll need a strong color. This gets blended using the 'normal' mode at 100% opacity. The last image is the result. Ok, time to to apply it to the side of the buildng before I get too far along. It doesn't look all that good on a test render but it has promise. The most important thing is that I know that I'm on the right track.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FFirstTest.jpg&hash=6dcdeb85937c8106f2e3ecb052078b986a7fea0f)

What's missing? The blocks, shadows, and a gradient. The Maxis brick texture gets layered in using the 'multiply' mode at 50% opacity. The next layer is the cloudiness. It is blended in using the 'darken' mode at 10% opacity. I finally layer a gradient so the mustard paint at the top of the wall is 20% lighter than the paint at the bottom of the wall.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FfinalSteps.jpg&hash=099f41d97f6bac893efb4515b1f22be36de2e809)

And here is the final render. Want to know the truth? I would not use that mustard color in a real bat. But I didn't have time to go back to the beginning and start again.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2FRender.jpg&hash=0e08ad504277967b733ab7802b1ee9328f1a3275)

By now you should know the most important tool for making SimCity textures is LAYERS. And how the layers are blended to produce the result you want. I'm not an expert at this. I just know what I like and keep plugging away until I'm happy.

Good Luck. I promise not to hijack your thread anymore.

- Jim

By the way - here is a PNG that you can grab and use for gradients.

Hello after another long break.

Recently I have too much time on new projects, but I still have a few already made a few weeks ago, but have not yet showed. Some still require some minor amendments. There is also included on their new skills and capabilities that have been explained to me. However, despite all they can be considered completed, and any comments will allow me to refine any minor errors.

Therefore I invite you to watch and comment. At the same time I wanted to share with you information that I recently improved the mood. My first add-in (as a reminder photo below) was approved by the LEX. The more I was happy, because by creating this project, my skills were perhaps at 10% of what I can today.

Let's get to the main thread. Below are a few recent works that are waiting for any minor comments and corrections and they can be exported to the SC4.

        So I start to presentations:

1st: Another house, this time from Katowice:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg217.imageshack.us%2Fimg217%2F3971%2Ffoto128.png&hash=2df1d7b12c41eb466c61f0f491281c31fc8f2869)

2nd: My first diagonal building. Invest Bank Head Office, located in Bydgoszcz:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg856.imageshack.us%2Fimg856%2F1575%2Ffoto136.png&hash=7de6c0e9055637f3a3ce5dae850ae038fe9ea1c0)

3rd: The building is similar to building Invest Bank. In fact, was the first, but the colors of the facade and the shape of the roof are not compatible with the original. As you can see the lack of even texture on the sidewalls:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg850.imageshack.us%2Fimg850%2F2649%2Ffoto133.png&hash=55f93863b67649ca577b99f40c907afd06bc1b8f)

4th: Another house of Bydgoszcz. As you can see, progress is not yet large, and no preview of the render. It's all by using the original colors of the real building which render are very clear and bright. Will therefore be at a later stage quite dark and shaded. There is also the upper floors and a bay window decorations at bay.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg69.imageshack.us%2Fimg69%2F2213%2Ffoto138.png&hash=ada7fa3e51168589bebc419e4bb471c809afd6d7)

5th: The next two projects relate to the Polish family houses built in the late 70th and the 80th of the XX century. The second project requires several fixes to reduce the size of tiles and to improve the upper floor.
In this case the creation of a few models, similar to Polish architecture, which creates a larger pack of those buildings.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg10.imageshack.us%2Fimg10%2F5353%2Ffoto141.png&hash=f9ae39c7d4dde3a995f1164ffbf7dc9b05fddc2b)

Cordially greet and welcome to comment, criticism or advice, if any you have.

I see that you are did a gradient with the Katowice roof. Great! You've selected a pretty good roof texture as a starting point. I think the orange has too much color and the black tile seams need to be lightened up slightly. Neither real life (nor Maxis textures ) have such deep shadows.

I know from experience that the orange clay terracotta roof is the most difficult to do. I've pulled my hair out and spent way too much time trying to get them right. So you have your work cut out. You may have already come to the same conclusion about the orange roof.  ???  Maybe not.  &mmm  That is the difficulty of making comments in a bat thread. I don't know if the orange roof is a first try or the finished product.

I like the geometry of the building very much. You have very good gmax skills. I like the color of the street side walls of the Katowice building too. I like the gray upper floors AND the complimentary rose color gray for the ground floor. It really adds visual interest.

The green roof (below) is very well done because the color is muted. Kind of like looking at the roof on a cloudy day and I'm hoping you can achieve the same muted color palette with the orange roof.  You are also finding some good textures for the W2W blank sides.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg839.imageshack.us%2Fimg839%2F4665%2Ffoto122.png&hash=5a6dd12d73b4effef4199dd3950856fc0b7b707e)

Re: the Polish farmily homes are very nice. Have you done a test export and looked at them in the game? You will be surprised at how small the scale has to be to blend in with other Maxis/SimGoober/Cycledog R$ early stage homes.

Hello.
For a long time there is not anything new added. This is because recently I have very little time, and second, add-ins that have already been completed undergo a difficult and arduous journey to reach the LEX.

Thus, in connection with some remarks on the older design. I present below the screen to render, where he reduced the saturation cartoon murals.

Please opinion as to whether this could be or would have had to change something in these murals, or remove them completely?

As for the orange roof on the building in Katowice, of course, crafted over it yet. Thanks for some great tips. I'm sorry that I answer so late, but I have recently two works, and I spend several hours outside the home, and I do not have too much time. However, when these guidelines and the guidelines for two candidates, I hope that now I know better which way to go with colors.

Hi David

I have a question about the origin of the murals on your building. Are they photographs of real murals on Polish buildings?

I think that something more weathered would look nice. I did a Google image search for "polish murals". Some are very bright and colorful like the picture was taken immediately after the artist was done. Other pictures I saw looked worn and faded with time

I think I would try something similar to this
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.desmint.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2009%2F08%2Fmural1.jpg&hash=71134d864b1e1e99032af2f3578eba4ae56ec738)

I personally like this one.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.desmint.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2009%2F08%2Fmural8.jpg&hash=f25509839a56db5951049346c44cb7d72224c68e)

Do you see how the white has variations of brightness? You can accomplish the same effect to the trumpet player with GIMP .. I think.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.desmint.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2009%2F08%2Fmural11.jpg&hash=907b978aca137f65913d70ca99aead971ec210be)

I like the new brown roof on the building roof because it works well with the tan and browns of the trumpet mural. But I don't think it compliments the cartoon person with the red hat ... or at least ... that is my opinion.

Good Luck

Welcome ... A long time nothing was happening here, but it has made a number of reasons. First of all, a complete lack of time since October. After that, difficult to implement the requirements for inclusion my BATS on LEX. And because the projects had quite a lot of modeled and there was no time to prepare them for LEX, nothing new arose. But in recent days made up for a bit, so that has already been completed only a few models, I decided to get on with new projects.

This time, I started a larger project. I mean. "bigger" in terms of models, which will later cast as a single pack. These will be the Half timbered houses. For now, tonight, I fashioned three. I hope you like them. Of course, I look forward to any comments and suggestions. So what do you think?

It will be a plop building.

SimGoober made his churches into rewards. The XTool does not make a rewards. The PIM-X manual says it provides a reward template that can be edited using iLives reader. I checked a couple of Debussyman churches. They were made into Libraries and Landmarks. A landmark would be my first choice. I think that a park building is also acceptable.

Models 1 & 3 are good, but roof tiles on the second are strange due to their big size, and maybe an over saturation of the wooden wall

Girafe: I know, I have corrected it. I noticed it until this morning, and already I could improve. :)

I do like your models a lot. I´m not too good at BATting, so no real comment on that aspect. What I see is in the last image that the triangular fronts have weird textures in the last image. The first image is much better with the wooden planks.

Hi DaveN,

stopped over in your thread some tme ago, but today I managed to go through the whole of it. First, very nice work you are doing here - congratulations!

Second, I love the discussion in this thread since I can learn a lot from here which adds to my BATing knowledge. I started BATing some 8 month ago, and still have to learn a lot in terms of textures and getting the "real" look into it.

Additionally, it's good to see that other BATers do have their off-time, too. I also had an unintended interruption of 2 month until I coul go on with my bat, and really felt bad about it. Like starting somethnig, having a lot of people adding their comments and help, and then leaving them alone without further notice. But as I see, I'm not the only one affected by RL.  :P

So, keep up the good work, I'll be stopping over again!

And will be even more, because they are simple, and the amount of this type of architecture is huge. Today I present a few more. The last of the set is W2W. These types of buildings, also I'm going to do a few more.

The roof texture is very good. The white walls need a gradient or some grunge. Be careful with the color white. The game lighting rig can make it shine. If I get a screen grab of a Maxis white building and use the color picker in my paint program I will find that the RGB values for white are around R=210, G=210, B=210. Your white is too bright if you are using RGB = 255. The dark side wall is not convincing.

Here's a link to a couple of png files from my texture library. Cracks and grunge that you can layer onto the white wall if you wish.
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/4/1237795/Cracksandgrunge.zip (http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/4/1237795/Cracksandgrunge.zip)

This is a good model and there is nothing to complain about. The brick texture is a nice color and is interesting to look at. The only thing I'd change is the UV mapping. The bricks are bit too long. But before making a change I'd do a quick export and see how the building looks in the game. The bricks may be stretched in your example but not noticeable in the game.

Very nice  &apls

I'll echo what the others have said regarding the white and some of the UVW mapping.

When mapping walls and roofs, I always start with the largest surface area first, and make sure that the UVW map sits correctly. When satisfied, I copy those dimensions to the smaller surfaces to ensure that all bricks and tiles are the same.

With the Ely house (If I am correct in thinking it is the one in Church Lane) the two roofs need to meet. At the moment, there is a big gap and a blank wall. This would never occur in real life as water would pool along the junction of the roof and the wall. I have attached a picture to show you how the roof should be extended.
Also, with the chimney pots, these are too large (they look like about 4m). On the real building they are highly decorative, but yours are very sparse. This is fine, but I would definitely make it smaller and less cone-like if you want to maintain a utilitarian look.

I think the contrast of some of the roofs might be too high, especially the fourth model which seems to even have black.  Maybe lower some of the saturation levels too.  I think the fact that the walls are so clean pops out the grit of the roofs, how do you have such clean walls and a falling apart roof?

Agreeing with Jim, the roof texture on that model is excellent.

Hello Jim.
Thank you for the next portion of tips. Of course pays special attention when using textures with white color. I'm in the sample export of all buildings (HD and high quality), and afterward I could see how it looks in the game. Then there will put the appropriate pictures and be able to judge whether or not to do better if the game looks all around
I downloaded the file that you told, but it still did not use. Frankly, I could not master the addition of alpha textures to add them to the models and I have a problem with that. I use this with GIMP. To use a texture to differ so far from the Windows Paint program and the program ASDCee, which also has some options for changing colors or color saturation.

As for the building of Ely (Church Lane was noted Mattb325) tried to extend the texture so that it can be seen that this is the texture of bricks. Of course, after renderze see that it requires some adjustments, which they do.

Hello Matt.
Thank you also for your tips. After deeper searching the internet I found a more accurate picture of the building from Church Lane, where in fact you can see that the roof overlaps slightly different "main" building. Of course, this will be corrected.
As for the chimney, then the pictures I noticed that the chimney is more than one floor, which I took less than 3 meters, so the chimney can be 4 meters in height, but judging by the pictures found on the internet so it is. It is difficult to refer to this type of architecture, because it was built several hundred years ago in Europe, but in order to fairly accurately reproduce the building, so I just had to do. Perhaps a little lower it to reduce its size but as you can see the original image is fairly large. To be honest I had never met with a chimney of this size at such a low building. But it shows once built. How much I can improve. Thanks again for the tips. It is with great pleasure to invite you to visit my post more often.

Welcome Lowkee33:
I also greatly thank you for all the tips and offered to help. As I wrote in response to Jim, I am during the test renders and for some time will show screens from the game, where you may turn out to be white is not white and the texture of the roof is not too glaring.

On the other hand, you write that the texture of the walls are too clean. As it happens, that Poland, as well as in other cities in Europe, where there is half-timbered architecture, these buildings are often carefully restored, so it is difficult to find a building in worse condition. I you already found on the internet, looked like a broken-down hovel, where it was difficult to verify, where the walls are, and where the roof.

Let me also add, you may not been following my thread from the beginning, I'm color blind and I have problems in recognizing colors, which makes it very difficult to adjust the texture of the building by all played at 100%. Thank you for your guidance and willingness to help. I'll get back when I'm ready to take advantage of your offer of assistance. I also invite you to continue visiting and commenting on my achievements.

And for today:
I took to be their next project. This time it's something much bigger and more complicated architecture. So far I managed to take part of the facade. I hope you like it. According to the calculation of the building will have a 30x50 meters, therefore, will be the largest, for which I was took.

Here is the passage that I could do today (render HD in High Quality. Render time about 4 minutes). As much as I fear to think how much will render the whole. Well, but of things.:

What do you think? There is still some textures shown on the screenshot, so please ignore.

PS. Steps will be corrected, of course, I have just a few pictures not of good quality, since the building no longer exists for over 60 years.

I hope that everyone understand me, becouse hole message I wrote without google translator. :)

mike3775: Thank You. This is the most complicated building, which I decided to model. Progress will probably slow, but I hope I can finish it.

DebussyMan: I know that I render HD was made for small things. What worries me though, is that many details will not be visible in the render SD.

vortex: Nice to "hear" that my English is not the worst. As for the set of timber-framed houses, I have not decided what to do next. Especially that a few scenes from gmax is not exported, and several more waiting to be completed. The more that my add-ons that have seen the light of day on LEX I have to send testers to see if it has errors. And it also takes some time and prolongs the procedure.

And today, another update from my City Theatre. Some concessions from the original will certainly, if only because of the statues, which are not my forte. But something I will try to fill in the piece, or at worst, leave without any ornament.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg10.imageshack.us%2Fimg10%2F5796%2Ffoto258.png&hash=7adc785f452980f76815206216417206efc55188)

In addition, I noticed that the individual images from different period, vary widely in terms of details. So, probably after the fire in the early twentieth century, the theater was rebuilt, but aside from the part of the decorations and details.

For comparison, two images from different time period.

I wouldn't worry about it not getting all the details in SD, it is large enough, so you wouldn't really miss that much, and you'll save a lot of file size, loading times, rendering times and of course, the ugly z5 view.

However... there are some things that don't quite please me about your model.

First, the pediment doesn't look right, in the pictures you can see it is not just one sculpture but rather a bass relief. Instead of modeling, I'd look for a fitting texture to fake it; it is easier and will probably look better. The busts in the first floor are too wide, I'd squash them a little on the x axis.

The texture looks more like plaster than stone, I'd find a better stone texture (giving it a second look, it could also be beveled plaster). In any case, I also don't see the need to change the texture of the bottom of the cornices, to me it appears to be all of the same material as the rest of the building:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi232.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee249%2FDebussyman%2Fbromberg.jpg&hash=3620bdcac15a56b65c7f5a54eb669fd692dd97de)

Perhaps changing a little bit the darkness of the texture in the bottom to make it pop out... but just a little, not such a radical texture change.

That gray roof texture doesn't convince me either.

The windows on the side towers are too narrow and the whole thing looks a little out of proportion; there are several plans of this building on-line, I'd take some measures from them to get it right. Also, your're missing some detail like the side. It is a blind window in a blind arch, but you didn't model the arch supports nor the relief of the arch itself, you're also missing them from the central arches.

Sorry for the lengthy suggenstions. You're doing great, but it could be perfect  &apls  ;)

DebussyMan: Thank you for the many valuable comments. Let me answer it and I'll try to explain my conduct in some situations.

First of all, my skills are much smaller than yours. To this day I can not get over when przglądałem your topic, it is with bated breath and eyes on top, I could not stop wondering how you can model the various shapes and how well you deal with small details and textures. Perhaps some of this difference is related to the fact that you are using 3ds probably, while I am using gmax. Another thing, when it comes to texture is that I am color blind and I have a big problem in the selection of textures.

Now decide on your comments. Each paragraph of my response will address one of your paragraph.

I try to hone my skills, but I do not have any course, or guide, who appeared to me the most out of the program. I'm doing everything by trial and error, and therefore the lack of certain skills in most parts of details normally in the world, I have to give up.

I know that the sculpture is more than one. However, since the images at their disposal, they are not the best quality and low resolution, I was not able to see exactly what that represents a collection of sculptures. However, as can be seen quite clearly bust on the first floor balcony, I decided to model a piece of sculpture, not to leave this section completely blank. Perhaps you managed to find some pictures of better quality and resolution (I think it's the part that you showed me). Another issue is such that the images are mostly black and white and does not allow me to draw the texture, because as I wrote, I would not be able to adjust to the texture. Bust shrunk by 20% relative to the axis X. It looks a little better. Show them the next update.

As for the darker texture in the "basement", on some photographs, it was darker. Very often in this day and czsach meet with a dirty and much darker ground floor, so I decided to use a texture darker and more damaged. However, it is possible to correct the issue. Change the texture of the same as is on the higher parts of the building and see how I present the effect. At worst, I will do according to your instructions and slightly darkens the texture in a graphics program.

Grey texture of the roof will be replaced. Although I do not mind what could fit, so I'll have to find something interesting. On several color photographs can be seen that the roof is dark orange or light brown, while the fragment, which for me is gray in color photographs also have a shade of gray. But I will try to find something better.

Windows tried to do in proportion to the whole side of the tower. Perhaps they are too small. Perhaps the whole tower requires a small stretch. You write that there are plans on-line. I could not find anything. If you have relevant links, I will be grateful for any help on this. I use about 30 photographs from multiple angles, as well as in various time periods. Therefore, on some of the photos are some details that are not on others. It is through this that come from different years, and as I know the object in the early twentieth century, burned down and was rebuilt. I suppose that the reconstruction has already been abandoned with many minor details that I tried to show the two posted photos.

The following screen, which includes a few of your suggestions. Of course a lot of work ahead of me. Looking like your thread may proceed various stages of modeling, as many as I'm terrified. At the time, you have passed three months before we could see the end result ... Frankly it scares me, and I fear that it might discourage me .. Especially if someone is expecting a better effect than allow my skills.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg137.imageshack.us%2Fimg137%2F4182%2Ffoto259.png&hash=acbac820ee72c29c7f232abaf02ac367abb01b3a)

I think that despite some discrepancies colors, and that most of the photos are black and white, chosen by me clue texture is good and I do not think I'd have to change most of the textures. For me, the textures are quite "sand" and possibly match the pattern.

Of course I'm waiting for further comments. constructive criticism, helpful tutorials, and other observations that will allow me to expand my skills.

For the plans, just search for the theatre in german: "bromberg stadttheater" in google images and you'll find them.

For textures, I'd suggest you look in the stex and lex for Feroxx's, Marczar's and Odd from sweden's texture packs. They're great and I use them a lot, odd's includes an assortment of roof tar textures that might look good in your building.  For the brick, here's a texture I particularly like, just change it in photoshop to look more of a sand color, like the texture you're using now:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi232.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee249%2FDebussyman%2FPared_AyuntamientoFiladelfia.png&hash=595afb50d5e105d3bb001144785f23083dd8b085)

It is true that some tools 3dsmax help a lot in the modeling, but you can make basic details in gmax as well. For example, to make the arches and suports of the tower bases I'd go as following (I'll try to explain, but if you need images I'll add them later):

Supports: create a box the size you desire them to be, convert it to editable mesh, select the poligon at the top and play with the "extrude" and "bevel" cages in the side panel to get the cornice shape (this works for all kind of cornices.

For the arc: create an arc using splines, tick the "Display mesh" box, choose the thickness you want, give it 4 sides and an angle of 45. Convert to editable mesh, choose all polygons and click on "clear all" in the "surface properties" subdivision in the side panel. Now choose all the polygons at the top and play again with the "extrude" and "bevel"; remember to tick the "local" circle just under the extrude and bevel cases before you do that. You should get something like this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi232.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee249%2FDebussyman%2Fexample.jpg&hash=f0a881aecf921a50cc23b4fbfb13ac7f4e385dfb)

Hope this helps, and if you have any questions just ask  :)

Especially if someone is expecting a better effect than allow my skills.

Jajaja... don't get discouraged by that. Modeling is quite easy, the problem is that I'm a huge procrastinator, and also, I spend more time looking at the model and thinking if there's anything wrong with it or how should I approach it than actually working on it.

Hi again.

In the last few days I have not had too much time. I was able to model the rest of the towers. I introduced a few minor amendments. Separate perceptive immediately find some discrepancies in the original. This is due to the lack of sufficient skills for the moment. After several attempts to quit are not successful with a few details. Perhaps over time abilities will allow for more detailed modeling.

But I think that is what I have done is sufficient. If you divide my sentence, I can get on with the modeling of the side walls and the rest of the building.

This is my first time here and I reviewed all 8 pages. You are certainly doing some nice work and improving rapidly in your skills. I think your works will be welcome additions to the game. And I would enjoy seeing some lots from Krakow if you are interested in making them. Gdansk would be nice too.

Schulmanator: Thank you. It's kind words for me. I'm glad you see right through eight pages. There is not much, but several additions have already appeared. Will be difficult for me to model something from Krakow, because I do not live in this city, and rather it did not I visit, so I can be difficult to create something. Has a greater chance of Gdańsk, which run every few months with my daughter to the hospital for check-ups and some buildings of Gdansk has already seen. I really like the train station and I would love to model it. Maybe one day I will succeed.

metarvo: Thank's you very much. I do my best.

supremec: Thank you. This piece will be a problem. I try to reproduce a building that does not exist since 1945. In addition, the version that I'm trying to play, is even older, because prior to 1930. Photos that I found are pretty poor quality. This piece is just a texture, because my skills are not yet allow the modeling of such complicated shapes. Therefore, this portion of the building decided to add a texture without modeling.

For further progress, you will need to wait for the next few days because I want to dedicate the work of my region, I could show you some update on my thread MD.

You don't have to extract the texture from the actual building. You could use a pediment texture from another building and get a good result. For exaple, you could try this one I used for the Reichstag:

I can't say that I understand the point of having props in HD next to buildings that are in SD. Is it such a bad thing if I like to take pictures in zoom 6? Or am I missing your point somehow?

Hi all.

It is great honor for me that I was in such a fantastic way highlighted. Of course, many thanks to Robin (rooker1), for this opportunity.

vortex, Dantes, kbieniu7, noahclem: well thank you.

This happened to me just in time when I was quite preoccupied with work, but such a distinction, will I have to find the time.

Of course, first I finish building the municipal theater, which showed some time ago, and which has stalled due to lack of cases of telefom. I'll try to catch up very quickly.

Of course, I still have lots of plans for other projects and I hope that some of them I can achieve.

Thanks again for the award, and I promise next week to upgrade its performance.

I hope that you will keep your fingers crossed.

Take care all.

carlfatal: Thanks for your words of appreciation.

Hi all after a long break.
At the end of May, I presented you the initial progress of the work on the Municipal Theatre in Bydgoszcz, which was destroyed by Russian troops in 1945 and was never rebuilt.

My long break is due to several circumstances.

The main one is the video card failure on a new computer (on which the return of the repaired or waiting to receive the new provided 2 months). It is primarily caused the suspension of all my work. However, waiting too long I switched to an older computer that already barely works at any time may give up the ghost :)
The second reason is the enormous work, which I mentioned earlier.

But the honor jake met me somewhat forced upon me progress.
Luckily I had not shown up his sleeve screen with the progress that I managed to do some time ago :) It is therefore something that I can show you. Of course, it took me a long time to find the gmax file with the theater but I did.

In my model, there are some discrepancies and the simplification of the original. The rest of the same original also passed a number of changes caused by repairs, reconstruction after the fire, etc.

But it is at the moment my biggest project.
So by now not to renew. This is theater at the moment looks like this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg841.imageshack.us%2Fimg841%2F2811%2Ffoto272k.jpg&hash=23280f09636967a41dba6c0402621e625a2aa753)

(Texture of the roof will of course be changed. This is temporary.)

Below the building in all its glory. Picture downloaded some time ago from the internet and do not remember what time it is. Judging from the amount of detail, however, is the period from before the second fire, after which terat rebuilt omitting many details.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg232.imageshack.us%2Fimg232%2F3932%2Ffoto273j.jpg&hash=765f6c5141774c1c439479234ab75f5016f2582f)

I hope that further progress will I be able to introduce in the near future.

Thanks again to everyone for good words, perseverance and patience, that ye endured so long.

Greet and invite you to comment.

Glad to see you're back with the Theater! and congratulations for the OSITM!

The roof texture, as you've said, has to be changed. However, I think a metal roof would be more in line with the original theater:

vortex: Hello and thank you immensely for your comment. By the way, I hope you have a little patience. So far still do not have time to prepare for your wonderful set LEX lots who've done for me ... This occurred even mention that I met and I have something to show to honor the commitment. Of course, at the earliest time share, with others your great set. I hope you forgive me, but I got really busy period.

DebussyMan: Thank you for your words of appreciation. Of course, as I wrote the urban texture of the roof of the theater will be renamed. As you noticed, it will be a texture sheet. I just did not have any interesting at hand, and put on the first, which fell into my hands. I must admit that the work on the theater going fairly slow pace. On the one hand by pressure vices building structure, on the other by lack of time. In any case, I'm going to finish this project by the end of September.
I am glad, however, that still tracking my topic and all of your suggestions are very valuable to me.

Aaron Graham: Thank you. I try to pry the best.

For today, I wanted to present you another, much less project. Because the theater is quite large and advances in aluminum are not impressive, today introduced two-storey house W2W. This type of building is not too much, and allow the creation of small-town quarters, similar to my Polish climates, because you today przedtawiam house modeled on the building. who for many years no longer exists and was located in Wrzesnia.
The building is a loose interpretation, because, the only information about him I found that pertain to the front of the building. The absence of any information on the annexe building.

I hope that the building you enjoy it. Of course, all suggestions and criticism welcome.

So for today:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg861.imageshack.us%2Fimg861%2F3927%2Ffoto275p.jpg&hash=a3f72e412936e6766eb31e4547c881cc503cd8d4)

I'm looking forward to the next review.

Will soon introduce you to another smaller project.

Hello.

Jim & vortext: I agree with you guys. This item will be corrected.

In the meantime, I managed to learn how to create mods.

I started out for rework mods "Road Intersecting Street Crosswalk Reduction Modd" from Simtropolis.

Now the mod has a euro texture and has already been tested by me in the game.

Now, crossing the road with the street look like this:

Hello again my friends.

I guess some of you are probably waiting for the completion of work on the city theater, the work on it, unfortunately I have to put aside. The reason is that a new computer for two months is under repair, and the old is not enough, that is still barely alive on it runs out of space, because the ongoing projects is quite a lot.

So I decided to complete several smaller projects, so that the vacant space.

Several projects are already shipped to the test and I hope that will soon appear on the LEX.

At the moment I sent for tests Ustka church (as a reminder photo):

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg638.imageshack.us%2Fimg638%2F2301%2Ffoto120.png&hash=357de8918e5c5d9185409ea29c145f8952ffd097)

The project has a small modification. Altered left wall, where it was found that a side entrance. Also, a light went back of the church re-moddeling. Of course, appendix includes both versions.

Then a small change in the texture has been subjected to a building in Katowice.

In the original version it was as such.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg217.imageshack.us%2Fimg217%2F3971%2Ffoto128.png&hash=2df1d7b12c41eb466c61f0f491281c31fc8f2869)

This was the original texture, but fairly bright red color of the tiles on the game required a light modification. Therefore I changed the texture and color of the roof and chimneys.
Now the building is as follows:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg833.imageshack.us%2Fimg833%2F6464%2Ffoto279.jpg&hash=762c1d2898a519f685208331e19e23512e462fb2)

I have also decided to finish the model modeled on the facade of the building in Katowice, but in another shape.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg825.imageshack.us%2Fimg825%2F8192%2Ffoto125.png&hash=de0e9c5047fdc4c92d206f849b1b07cf983752d0)

The building was completed and is as follows (lighter version):

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg195.imageshack.us%2Fimg195%2F8436%2Ffoto280c.jpg&hash=80bf14e6166d721c2f98b2471a26a5f8dec80a35)

I have one version of the color of the facade of the building (darker fasade), completed in the coming days. The building is U-shaped or the letter L.

I hope you forgive me some delays.

Unfortunately, projects and ideas I have several times more than the time for their implementation. But I hope that none of my projects not be lost, and sooner or later you will be able to download the LEX.

I greet all warmly and look forward to further opinions, suggestions, criticisms, advice, tutorials :)

Two comments please ..

The orange roof is very colorful and needs to have the saturation reduced to match the rest of the building. The color that you've added to the building (blue paint at the lower left corner) is muted so the roof should be more muted too. I'm also thinking you can add another blue panel at the lower right corner to add another splash of color too.

The slate tiles of the other building appear to be the same width as the windows. I think some UV mapping will help ...

jmyers2043: Hi Jim, and thanks for another valuable tips.
According to the instructions I gave a darker texture on the edge of the roof. Now it looks like this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg268.imageshack.us%2Fimg268%2F2145%2Ffoto281i.jpg&hash=e905bdf2d70e5c9f9a92e9dbae5ef0ce99582c88)

Perhaps it escaped your attention, but in the previous post, I wrote that red roof has been changed to a different color. I remembered the old screen only. Currently the roof is black and chimneys have also been adjusted to darker tiles. One more time for You:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg833.imageshack.us%2Fimg833%2F6464%2Ffoto279.jpg&hash=762c1d2898a519f685208331e19e23512e462fb2)

In the last building, increased the density of the tile. Although the original version, I think that was good. Now looking this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg89.imageshack.us%2Fimg89%2F4088%2Ffoto282cf.jpg&hash=b9b1dbac42765182e6aa9318c53339d434e05012)

vortext: Hi Erik. Thank you also for the subsequent flattering words. The church is currently in the testing phase. Also tested, as you probably very pleased, lots of your own, that you did for me. I hope that the tests run without problems and both things will soon appear on the LEX.

noahclem: Thank you very much. It so happens that this month I am very busy. Fortunately, I have a little less work and I am able to quickly visit the house, which allows for a bit of work in LE, gmax, and the game of SC4. Reduction mod that I created, I'm sure I need it. I missed this in the NAM. By the way, I learned to create mods replacing the other textures. This ability also probably useful.
When it comes to building diagonal, then looked through my whole thread here and noticed, that I not showed that the building who I did last year. Comes in two different colors. At the moment it is first in line to be sent for testing. I therefore hope that your expectations have been met. A is as follows:

So everyone can see how hard I work to please all the players and the entire community SC4Dev.

I hope you like the show buildings. I look forward to any suggestions and advice, and greatly thank all those who have been regularly speak in my thread and give me energy to continue working.

After a year of fun in gmax, I can only say that I regret enormously that previously eluded me what's going on and what this game since quite a few years, others are doing. I could start the fun a few years ago. And it will remain forever lost. While some will try to make up for it by creating another add-ons.

Best regards and invite You all again.

Well, don't know what to find here, they look finished. These actually look better, and much more realistically detailed then the Euro buildings in Half-Life 2, and that's a first person sci-fi, where your at ground level in the city. If anyone has seen how flat they did the buildings in City 17, where the windows are just painted on the walls, then you'll know what I mean.

Hi Dave,

I admire your work, especially on your european W2Ws! You are a talented BATer. Just i have some advices for Utska church. A really nice choice for a BAT. Just the stage of details and the texturing doesn't satisfy me at all. Originally it is a red brick building with a dark tiled roof. Maybe you could ask carlos for the texture he used for that red bricked berlin church he created. I think that would fit much better. Also the roof texture doesn't fit so well. Beside the very big looking tiles it looks very clean...
Anyway i love all your creations. You are really going better every day!

saludos!

In the original version it was as such.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg217.imageshack.us%2Fimg217%2F3971%2Ffoto128.png&hash=2df1d7b12c41eb466c61f0f491281c31fc8f2869)

This was the original texture, but fairly bright red color of the tiles...

First I want to say lovely buildings

about this case in particular, you are right, to bright, but not only, it is also oversaturated. this would be easily fixed (and release a 2 roof version of this building) in photoshop by taking some saturation of the building and increasing darkness (decrease bighness if you will) and possibly some Hue changes too. if you do that you can end up getting a red tile texture good for your bats

DISASTER!

Entire Directory "scenes" disappeared. Just yesterday I worked in gmax on a new project and everything was ok. After a short playing in SC4 I wanted to return to work in gmax and it turned out that the directory "scenes" is empty. All projects have been irretrievably lost. I even tried data recovery software, but it did not work. Millions of deleted files I could recover, such as txt, html, different textures, but no scene. I feel sorry for most city theater building, on which has already spent a lot of time, and who was coming to an end, and a few smaller projects, that were not as impressive, however, with plenty of detail, on which I spent a lot of time also.

Everyting lost... And it is at this moment.

That sounds awful! are you sure they've been deleted? maybe they are just hidden or accidentally moved to another location...

Your BATs are looking really nice. The corner buildings and orthogonal to diagonals ones will be very useful.
I use most of your previous BATs and wanted to download the last ones. It's a pitty you have lost the directory "scenes" ()sad()
Hope you can recover them.

DebussyMan: Hello.
Does not remove them, but they do not exist and there is no sign of them. If they were removed it would be in the trash first. Even if they delete it from the recycle bin recovery software found to have any information about these files. Would be in the list of recoverable files. And there it does not. Also checked whether they are hidden. I checked every other folder. Once again manually via the search by file extension. Since yesterday evening, for half the night and half a day today searched the entire disk. They are not anywhere.

It is a great loss, because to the end of the month, I wanted to complete the building of the theater, so that the end of my OSITM show everyone my biggest project. Unfortunately, it will not work.

Now I have to find the will to work on other projects. Probably not as big as it needed a lot of time on it, and I do not want to go again by the case.

Welcome to all my friends.
In all this misery I can only say that it was lost a few smaller or larger projects...

Most, however, feel sorry Focha Street building 12 and building city theater ...
As a reminder, below I post pics of the two models that I have worked ...

All the other buildings I had managed to export and wait until finish the rest of the work, such as the desc files and the lots files.

This models are dissapear:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg254.imageshack.us%2Fimg254%2F2797%2Ffoto149.png&hash=050d2a1662cb43bc87b72b1c77710cc8956cde76)

and

Of course, in order to dispel any doubts, I will not stop further work. The only difference is (here words to DebussyMan) that work on the re-start city theater while reducing the number of duties related to the job ... First, I will deal with a number of smaller projects.

However, at first sight, I'll take in a few smaller models that take far less time and allow me to build up strength before long work on the city theater.

Several other models not show, so I do not have previous photos ... Fortunately, most of the finished models that I was able to export and now just waiting for me to work on completing them and sending them to the test, and if the testing is successful will soon be available for download on the LEX.

Once again, thanks for the words of encouragement ... and please wait for another update's

Hi all.

Not that I imagined this special month for me, which I was honored. First, the disappearance have not completed all of my scenes, and 8 dayq ago, the HDD from the old computer died, burying all of my files. Ending a month was to be crowned with a large number of new projects, and I ended up just one new, and some previously started, which was exported.

To this day, my modest skills in this matter and the simple software helped me to recover only a small part of the resources that I kept on the hard disk.

From this place, all I wanted to apologize. To events, unfortunately I did not have the impact. As I say, "nastiness of dead things."

However, I can assure you that this is not the end. Although no longer in the OSITM, but will be creating new projects.

It's a curse, because I noticed that similar problems have buzzit.

Perhaps here for a while nothing new will not, because I spend the free time they saved as much of my data. Not only BAT projects, but the whole lot of other files, photos, etc.

I hope that I can as soon as possible and recover as much as possible, and then I'll be able to take the next BAT projects.

- Dave

I also had a scary moment regarding this, when my pc wouldn't turn on, in fact, it was taking the power down in the house every time I tried  $%#Ninj2 $%#Ninj2

Luckly it was the plugs extension which were damaged and enter in short circuit, but was enough to make me rush in and make some backups :S

I don't know how much of your old material you will be able to get back, but I am confident you will go back into bating and learned a good lesson, of backing up stuff ;) I have :D

Hi all, after a long, long break.

Nothing new here for a long time showed, because most of the time I tried to recover as much data as possible from the old HDD. Unfortunately, all the plugins folder and the models that were not completed were lost.

However, it is time to start making new models. I decided to make a second attempt to model the city theater building. It will probably be much different from the first trial. I think, however, that it will not be much worse than the first.

I present a photo with the initial phase of modeling. I hope that you will like it. Textures are a bit different as well as a set of textures gone. Also, the modeling is my simplified.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimageshack.us%2Fa%2Fimg849%2F6444%2Ffoto286.jpg&hash=76aa5af23ff8a5bc36aa3a42c0fa9991d3e10ab9)

This is only the beginning of the work, and yet the enormity of things to be done, so it's just the view and request any comments at this stage, because it will be easier to introduce them, when there is less stuff.

Hi all.

For today little progress of the City Theater.

Now I must search a good texture for the roof. The original roof was covered with sheet metal. And now I need some texture for the roof, but for now, I can't find anyone.

Hi all.

peterycritsti: Thanks for your words of appreciation and I am glad that the new version is like. I learned a little bit and do some things differently than in the first version, and so quickly, because I know how to go about it.
And when it comes to image, m is the only one I found where the roof is visible as well. As can be seen, the roof is divided into several sections, each of which is coated with another material. One part of the plate, steep sections are probably tile, although the image quality can only guess, and the flat part of the roof, which is probably covered with tar. I mean, of course, that part of the roof of the front towers. Below is the photo:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffotopolska.eu%2Ffoto%2F294%2F294136m.jpg&hash=7b2b6547ca711e9c55072d5e4b925f62ed76ac95) (http://"http://fotopolska.eu/294136,foto.html")

Aaron Graham: Thanks a lot.

vortext: Thank you. Well, unfortunately some time I was not here, but I decided to try to do something again. Of course, the loss of all data that were lost, and I'm not talking only about the models with gmax. All the time I try to play the plugins directory to be able to also enjoy themselves. And this is, unfortunately, extremely tedious task.
In any case, I started again in the municipal theater. I am glad that you also to the liking. I hope that the end result will be good enough.

A little progress today.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg841.imageshack.us%2Fimg841%2F4062%2Ffoto290.jpg&hash=8f75f73f4cf9cf2e5fa81ba192afedeaa1053657)

More could not be done because the last couple of days I was terribly busy. I hope that nothing broke, and if so, hints, tips, suggestions and even criticism will accept.
You can go ahead and comment.

I hope you like it. The building will be corner building on a 4x3 tiles.

For this moment I have this:

Hi Dave,

well, concerning the stadttheater i would suggest the following textures:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F4a39467d22a76bf2d394dfa5cd402d55.jpg&hash=5585f7a7eabc3a4b7d19ef42236a93a1ea327e93)

for the center part, which had a metal plated roof you could maybe use this one by odd:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F5abf68650c17d1cf4b678e19761c2b9c.jpg&hash=81f110db0a729aa3a80669ea06f6cb28ccc07aba)

the stage house and the towers seem to have had a tiled roof as you can see in the picture. I think, this modyfied one of odd would go well:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Ff60fd7b370c041bbe0dabd595bb1616d.jpg&hash=5d6abbbfdcf85468a1106735b45f076fe97c95be)

or if you like it red, maybe this one would work:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fed55d9bf3635d862fe3bad6b6fc63ecf.jpg&hash=dc646db6828bc6473225534bda58667680c2704f)

hope i could help a little.

Nice new project! Waiting to see more  &apls

Both theater and court look really nice. Perhaps even better than the original theater you started.

About the court, the only flaw I see is the bulb dome. Is it suposed to be round or octogonal? if it is round it needs to be softer (more sides!), if it is octogonal it needs to be sharper (clear smoothing groups). In any case, the geometry looks strange. You sould try making it with the "lathe" tool to get the right profile.

Away from this the theater looks really good, and this corner house would be a great addition in quarters of the early 20. century. Would be also a nice model for a diagonal.  ;)

Hi all folks and I thanks you guys for the all words.

This year was the worst year for me and a lot has changed in my life. First of all, at the time of my absence from the country of my house, moved out of my wife taking my daughter is beyond me. I have not seen her for more than half a year. I know that I have some interesting projects to finish and I really want to finish them. This and a few other things have kept me alive. If you have any suggestion I would be grateful. Owycziście, I have not forgotten about your earlier comments. I'm still here, but considering the problems that affected me, a little, quite a lot less than I'd like.
I hope I can finish the theater and the courthouse before March 2014.

I greet you all and take this opportunity to wish you the best entourage Christmas

Best regards and thank you for any tips. I'm here all the time, though not as often as I'd like.

Once again, I cordially greet
