Apologies for the double post... But I have a textured update. BSC board isn't working atm for some reason?

I may need to buff that window texture a bit... It doesn't have that Mandalay Bay golden feel to it just yet.  What say you?

Is anyone willing to put this into MAX for me and make me a reflection worthy of the original? If not I could do what I did with GMAX.  I can't use MAX myself becuase I keep getting an Error Code 410 Location 6 whenever I try to render something, does anyone know what that code is and how to remedy it?

Neal.

Thankyou!

And now for an update on how far I have got between my last update and now...

EDIT

Oh wait, here's a last minute prenup with a high-quality render just for you!!

ENDEDIT

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Neal.

Krio

You work very fast :o But, I agree with marcszar's suggestions

And hopefully you can get your MAX working again, because MAX better than gMax :P

marcszar: Good enough for me! You didn't think I'd miss out the mullions, transoms and the texture on the columns did you, lol?

Bengt: I don't know yet, I will have to post a topic in the BAT help section if a second stab at rendering doesn't work.

Stealing autoVino's bread are we?  :D
I don't want to say anything about texturing, as I don't think I'm really qualified in that department enough (if youwouldn't have been doing it inmax than I could make some material suggestions)
But now I would like to make couple of words on modeling.
I think you are not making it in most efficient (time and resources) way. You can GREATly speed the process up and avoid tons of potential problems in you wouldn't modeling it as if you are actually building it.
First of all you only really NEED to make ONE wing not all three of them. And then Instance it around - saves time and memory, You can even XRef two of three in different file!
Also within the wind itself, apart form Lobby (well the bottom part) floor and the top on all are identical - meaning you ONLY need one not all of them. Spend time and polygons making it perfect and again instance it.
In the inner bends you should tessellate couple of times - you can see quite noticeable kink at the moment...
Wish you luck with this one!

Hello there!

SimFox
QuoteStealing autoVino's bread are we? :D

Afraid not, he may be doing a reconstruction of Mandaly Bay, I am doing a building based on Mandaly Bay that is made based off of the locations & principals of my reigon.

QuoteI don't want to say anything about texturing, as I don't think I'm really qualified in that department enough (if youwouldn't have been doing it inmax than I could make some material suggestions)

Any ideas on what an Error Code 410, Location 6 is when rendering (Or trying to render)? <--- I really am stuck on this one???

Yes, true, it is not in the most efficient way in that respect.  Everything you see on that picture hasn't taken very long at all but I could have done it quicker, I admit, if I actually Instanced a wing two times...

...Or better still, X-Refed it.  Actually; how on Earth do you do that or is it simpler than I think?

QuoteAlso within the wind itself, apart form Lobby (well the bottom part) floor and the top on all are identical - meaning you ONLY need one not all of them. Spend time and polygons making it perfect and again instance it.

Do you mean windows? Yeah, it had poteintial to have a seriously lesser amount on there but instead I have a mass of instanced windows.  At least I can make the night windows fit in pretty good... I think?

QuoteIn the inner bends you should tessellate couple of times - you can see quite noticeable kink at the moment...

Thanks for noticing and advising help on those bits, I shall see what I can do to rememdy it!

Unfortunatly before your post I had gotten this far...

The scene is moving and rendering pretty quickly compared to the older (And therefore trashier one) when I had it at this stage.  But I don't dare do a poly count, well, I should, will do it when I finished all the windowing.

Thanks for the help and advice! I really wanted to use MAX but that error is giving me a headache.

Oh my Neal, this is looking good :P I didn't knew that AutoVino's casino is Mandalay Bay but who cares if you both do the same casino. You can use other one in other city :P

Antoine

I love the skill of the building  &apls

Sim Shady

wow you have been active the past few days.  Its looking good so far  :satisfied:

kimcar

Great to see you back on track.  :thumbsup:You are the specialist of casino. so we need you for more of your great creation. Btw look very nice the one you working on.

Nealos101

Bengt: Thankyou! He said it isn't so I don't know anymore... We shall see!

Antoine: Thanks.

Sim Shady: I haven't been active for a while but now I'm back!

kimcar: Thankyou my freind! Glad to see you are still alive and still a fan!

I'm going to call it a day and give you this preview, tomorrow sees the hard parts - Well, maybe?

I put in some Transoms here and there, got the next level of windows up, and I'm planning the third level tomorrow.

Until then... Later!

Neal.

You are definitely the King of Casinos!  What ever happened to the SGM?  Was that casino ever completed?

Nealos101

Thankyou! And yes it was, I just haven't had the time to get into loting good lots atm, but the time has come to take stab at it once I finish this one since I have my claws on the PIM-X. (Luff you Steph!)

Anyway I have another update for you guys, and yes I still haven't got around to fixing the errors you pointed out I'm sorry - But I will do them!

Ok... Here's the day - IGNORE the texture (Or lack of thereof) and colour of the floor for the next level and light strips as they will be changed!

And night - Light Strips shall not be alone by the end of this though...

What do you guys think?

threestooges

For what you've done so far (ignoring the lack of texture/color of the floor), it's coming along nicely. It may be a scale thing I'm not seeing, but how many stories is the building at present? For some reason it looks a bit short to me (rather it looks a bit stout/squat for its size). But it looks great so far.

Nealos101

threestooges: Hmm, at least 50 (Or half that - 25 - Depending on what comes of it), it does look stout in that picture for sure, but how about this one?

This is our day picture almost 24 hours later.  The roof is now coming together with major detailing coming along the way the minute I have the basic shapes complete.  And don't worry - Every critsism or much-needed change will be changed eventually, in fact, it may be best to do a list here to show you what I have compiled...

Anyway, here is the night view with no new added lights just yet...

Ok, things that need to be changed:
-  All simple colours taken from the model when the texturing is due (Especially white!)
- Make the lower level's windows stand out a bit more
- Change the texture used on the lower level's protrusions (And topmost level now) or make it darker
- Some gradients!
- Take another look at the building's scale

Ok, that should be it for now, anything else please say! But for now though, time for bed!

Yoder7652

it does look a bit squat to me too...I'd remove the lettering and then vertically scale the whole thing by 15% or so and see how that looks..oh and add the lettering back  :P

JBSimio

I agree with Yoder about the scaling... it definitely looks a bit squat yet.  It's a great looking model so far.  I look forward to the rest of the textures!

Wow, this is stunning.    :o     Very very nice work.    The shape of the building is interesting to say the least.     The building's shape will open up some interesting possible accents on the lot.    Things like pools with triangular shapes, etc.   I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished.    It is really gonna be something else.   :satisfied:    Just a suggestion for the lot this building is gonna set on.   Have you thought about doing a diagonal version?      &idea    I would still do a somewhat standard rectangular lot.     Just a suggestion.
