Title: Provo : We're back! 7/4/14
Post by: sunv123 on December 16, 2012, 12:31:04 PM
Welcome to Riverton!
About Riverton

Riverton is a fictional city located in the West/Northwestern part of simnation. The place that it is located is on an unusually flat area, but around it is the massive Grand Mountains.
The wide Markham River runs through the region, bringing fertile land next to it, which is a magnificent thing compared to the rocky soil around the mountains. I, for some reason love to hand-craft my regions, so this may not be as good looking as the ones on the LEX and STEX.

About this MD

I have to admit, I am not a very good storyteller, so I will not do any stories like the Winding River Project does. Don't worry though, my main focus on this MD is showing off some of my "talent " in city building, so I hope you enjoy!

So here's my first pic, a shot of Riverton's "downtown".
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg821.imageshack.us%2Fimg821%2F688%2Frivertonmay270413556843.jpg&hash=5dad70a39b5a3a74213220527967028b05cbc485)

I'll start this off with a shot on what's to come later.

Nice little town, I'm wondering what's being constructed.

Also, you might want to turn the shadows on while taking pictures, looks better imho. Good luck with your MD!

Good to see you doing this. I concur with Vortext: turn on shadows, and turn off the grid. Now keep it up ;)

Riverton....or River Town.....hm, there surely must be a river near by, right? Hope to see it in the next update, could we also the region? I know, I know, I'm just curious......... Great to see you start a MD. Good luck, I'll keep an eye on this. .)

NOTE: This is not an update, just an announcement.

So I was looking through the STEX for some apparent reason and came upon THIS (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28296-pacific-northwest-tree-controller/) beauty. (you might like it mrbisonm, it would probably fit good in the winding river.) It looks very nice, though I was planning to make the second update today, I had to bulldoze all of my trees, so that took me awhile. The next update will be postponed until i'm hoping tomorrow. I hope you all have a very nice day.

Thanks For Supporting Riverton!

We Need A Church!

Almost everywhere, there is a church where citizens are free to practice their religion. But there is no church built in Riverton! The citizens have asked for it, so Benson Tonham got a loan from the bank of Simnation and found this empty lot to build the church that the citizens need.

At the intersection of Kansas Avenue and Worth Street, there is an empty lot that serves as a little parking lot and sometimes a hangout place.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg62.imageshack.us%2Fimg62%2F8775%2Frivertonjan230513556866.jpg&hash=57fadc92b52506241d373e4db5db93effd100217)

A few weeks later, construction begins.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg233.imageshack.us%2Fimg233%2F9261%2Frivertonjan290513556868.jpg&hash=60afb9a08ee150734561ba88f9864dbb263ef029)

In about a week, the main construction crews come in.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg707.imageshack.us%2Fimg707%2F2342%2Frivertonfeb405135568701.jpg&hash=47d71c04ee1cdc3dd25a08fef139ff6b4fec1114)

Finally, the church is done and ready for the Sims to use.

Thanks for the tip, I Do scorn myself for not being fully prepared for this. Just first time jitters I think. I capture updates A week earlier, so you still won't see shadows on this one. You DEFIANTLY will see them in the next update. ;)

Markham River is not exactly "Close" to Riverton, maybe a quarter of a mile away. Like I said, I handcraft my regions, so you won't really be seeing that until later. Thanks for visiting!

Title: Re: Riverton Update 2: Highway 103
Post by: sunv123 on December 20, 2012, 03:42:23 PM
Highway 103 Part 1:

Highway 103 is fairly important route in the Riverton Area. It starts at downtown Riverton and goes all the way to Kingston down south. First, we start off at downtown Riverton, the start and end of this highway.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg194.imageshack.us%2Fimg194%2F7281%2Frivertondec250713560430.jpg&hash=237b4694977a8781d83dd0c55fa170c08eccbaa2)
In half a mile, we reach the small village of Jake's point. All you can really do there is eat at the small Mexican restaurant there. Their tacos taste pretty good.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg844.imageshack.us%2Fimg844%2F753%2Frivertondec250713560431.jpg&hash=4155f23eb7faacdcfdfee4a944a62715c1c453db)

Keep on driving for another mile and you will reach Notts Creek. There is plenty of fish here, so you will always catch something. There is a small beach beach there where you can go snail hunting or just relax.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg203.imageshack.us%2Fimg203%2F753%2Frivertondec250713560431.jpg&hash=b71b3f353b1787919599b1fa5f798d3b20f39583)
You won't have to travel far from there to reach Notts, where you can shop for their famous snail soup. It's easier to eat if you close your eyes.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg339.imageshack.us%2Fimg339%2F753%2Frivertondec250713560431.jpg&hash=7be735481bc79f82bfa8ef8af3ae96e36d663ea1)

Turn Right at the intersection at Notts and you will reach Interstate 2, where we will be heading in part 2!

You're making me hungry!  Where I'm at, every town of any size has at least one Mexican restaurant, and normally more.  It's really too bad about the prop pox, though.  I hope you're able to build a new city that will be even better, although it will be hard since Riverton was very good.

The Christmas card looks good, Sunv123!

Title: Re: Riverton
Post by: sunv123 on December 30, 2012, 11:44:20 AM
Yes I have, but since I was way too quick before, It would be way too much to re-install all of them to Darknite, but i can try.

Do you know of any effect if darknite is combined with maxis night BATs? Any info would help a lot.

EDIT: No effect to the BATs i have tested. Okay for the ones sofar........
Title: Re: Riverton
Post by: noahclem on December 30, 2012, 12:24:18 PM
Switching to Dark Night can be a hassle but it really depends on what buildings you have installed. Most buildings will work right in both. Certain newer ones created with more advanced BATting and lighting tools are specific to Maxis Night (MN) or Dark Night (DN) though and that's where the difficulty lies. Having a MN building model installed with a DN mod will result in a bright blue building sticking out like a sore thumb next to all the other DN compatible buildings. The good news is that of all the buildings in your last picture the only one I recognize as a MN-specific BAT is the Linda Swampy Medical Center just below the center of the picture
Title: Re: Riverton
Post by: sunv123 on December 30, 2012, 12:48:22 PM
Thanks for the info. Seems like the medical center does look a little different, but i think it looks okay. I think.

You'll be able to see it later today or tomorrow, so act fast! ;)
Title: Re: Riverton
Post by: noahclem on December 30, 2012, 02:04:35 PM
If you just install the DN version of the med center instead it will fit in and look fantastic. The best way to enjoy DN is by using BATs with lighting specially designed for it. The incompatibility issue is directly tied to the more advanced lighting system. I'm no BAT expert, and in fact suffer from BAT-phobia, but I understand that using a non-GMAX tool and Truenight lighting is what causes the compatibility problem. Essentially all modern releases using those tools offer DN and MN renders though so if you decide to go with DN you won't have any problems as long as you download the DN versions in the future whenever there is an option.

Heh!  Great card!

The prop pox impacting your work is a real bummer.  Hopefully it will be just one of those random things and never hit you again.  Good luck!

David

Thanks David! Great to see you here! It sure is, have to re-do the whole thing again.

Thanks for the encouragement, it really helps! :) I'll PM a taco if you're really hungry. I mean STARVING!

Sorry to hear this. Do you know how it happened? Anything specific you did that might have caused it?

Cheers
Willy
Don't know what really caused it, i was just plopping some stuff around and zoning. When i checked on it a later, half of the downtown was just pavement, as in ped-mall like stuff. Then the residential started having blank lots. Never went back into Riverton after that. I had to place it somewhere far away, so now the region view looks a little strange.

Quote from: Kergelen on December 27, 2012, 07:21:34 AM
Oh no, prop pox
I never get it but I regularly make backups because I'm afraid of it.

Like the interchange on the previous update
That's a smart Idea, but i am just too lazy to do it. :P I'm glad you liked it!

Riverton was a nice city. Hope to see a new city without prop pox.
I'm glad that you liked it! You'll be seeing the largest city in the region so far in the next few updates with a few trips to the farms.

I think it would be dangerous to my health if Noah and I lived so close to each other. . .  but very good for the beer industry.  ;D

Good scenes here. I particularly enjoyed the construction lots in between the highrises. And your transit networks are quite interesting, although I'd get lost in the maze. Apart from the freeways you don't seem to have a lot of through roads/arterials.

Wouldn't want to live in that pit, though (penultimate picture). . .

Awesome work on these pictures--a night and day difference so to speak  :D  I see there are a few Maxis Night models still there but they look just fine. As for the interchange let me give that some thought. There doesn't seem to be a lot of space so some creativity may be required. I would suggest Rivit's tunnel mod from the STEX anyway.

And of course the suburbs and industrial areas are great too!

I'll echo Willy, be sure you've removed the pox inducing files, would be a shame if this city goes to waste. And make it a habit to backup frequently!

St. Garris Islands: The Lighthouse

9 miles off the coast of simnation sits the St. Garris Islands, named after the explorer of the Islands, William St. Garris. He was born in Robinsim, a large city at the time and one of the largest financial centers of the 20th century, 10 years after he had died. When William was a child, he didn't like school at all. He would fake sick and do anything to get out of school. But in High School, he learned about exploration and that had fot the best of him. He wanted to explore. His grades in science and math had skyrocketed after that. After only 12 years from the time he graduated college, he went on to explore that unexplored islands. He saw that there was a marsh there, filled with bird nests. It was an important breeding ground for all types of birds. The tall grass kept them safe and the abundant plant life kept them full.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg191.imageshack.us%2Fimg191%2F9279%2Fnewcityjan3001357423198.jpg&hash=b9dcd36b920737c806da60aeb1b99809dc414980)

But birds weren't the only ones there, in the early 19th century, there had been rumors of a small town on the same island but in 1854, they say that a tsunami or some natural disaster had wiped everything away. They say that the Island was way bigger in size and connected to it's nearby sister island. It was almost all wiped out and now there are two islands instead of the one. Fishermen that have been near the islands tell us that some nights, spirits on the dead rise up at night and ask the sky for a new life, but he never answers. I don't think that showing you ghosts is a good idea.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg541.imageshack.us%2Fimg541%2F4789%2Fnewcityfeb1200135742334.jpg&hash=3dbc5c3e7dba50446b13f42d5d041dbb2d00bcf4)

Nearby is the St. Garris Lighthouse, built by William in 1865. The only way to get on is by docking at Hamling Island and making your way to the lighthouse by boat and foot through the marsh.

Working on the seafront in Robinsim. Learning how to get the hang of MMPing. I think it turned out okay, still a lot to learn, though. Girafe, you rule flora!

Updates will be coming up! Just can't tell you the date. ;)

Great work man! You're MMPing is going great and you've managed to pick out a fine selection of MMPs to use. And indeed, Girafe is something else with the flora. Way to go on the lighthouse and industry as well and I'm glad you'll be tackling all of the options you mentioned in the poll (that I missed  :'( )

Thanks for the comments guys, replies will be in the next update, but that's not what this announcement is about. :D It seems like I have, um gotten a little off track, I got really exited about SC4 Mapper 2013, and got a little varied away with it, that's why I have a big gap between updates, fun has got the best of me. :P Don't worry, as soon as a download all the maps, I'll get back to work. (Not literally all the maps.) Thanks to all that come here! ;D

Fun is always a valid excuse. However, why not show what you're doing. Don't get stuck into some rut while you're actually enjoying something else. You can always change or expand the title of your MD. . .

I'm a big fan of "maps for maps' sake". I think I've downloaded and created 95% of Dobdriver's maps and I always take a peek at how certain features look in the game, with different terrain mods. In fact, I even thought of starting an MD showing different regions simultaneously some time back, sort of a map-oriented MD.

Cheers

Since i don't want to leave this MD completely updateless for the time being, a pew Pics make make up for it.

Testing out some of marczar's rowhouses. They look pretty nice! ;D

Work on the Downtown. Needs more art-deco and maybe a few Gothic style buildings.

That's it for today...... oh wait! We are having our first snow this season on Thursday night, so i will be sure to include some pics of that. Maybe even a snow filled update! 1-3 inches of snow expected, not too much for some northerners, but surely enough when 2012 was the hottest recorded year ever in the US.

Weather!!!!

Hi again, it's me. As I said, it snowed on Thursday, Jan 17 and some real nasty weather came in. Actually, not too nasty for some. Most of the Highways that I travel on were clogged from accidents and that gave me some ideas....... But that's not the point. I checked out the new Jupiter Weather mod and so far, it's amazing! (i'll give links at the end of the update.) It's a whole new world to Simcity, but it makes my game CTD way too much, so i only took a few shots. I might post one of a tornado if i can catch one. Just wait and see. ;)

Marczar is the king of rowhouses, but I don't think these sidewalks fit in any way. Not your fault, of course. I would in any case use longer blocks. Good MMPing going on, one of my tricks is that I've resized almost every prop out there to get them the way I want them. I'm not a fan of plop water but hey, that doesn't look too bad I think.

I like the weather, but the actual waterfront catches my attention. Not too bad!

Thanks, Willy! I have to admit, they don't at all. I guess they fit in suburbs, but not in a downtown. ()sad() I think that the NY slab would fit, but not really for suburbs. I guess i'm in a Pandora's Box. ;)

Having some beaches is always a plus in a coastal setting IMHO.  Yours looks especially inviting, even though I'm more the cold-weather type.  On that note, you've used the snow effect well in the weather updates.  I haven't gotten around to using the weather mod yet, although I have downloaded it.

I don't see too many Wal-Marts in MDs, so it's refreshing to see one here.  In my area, the popular definition of a city or neighborhood as big or small depends on the presence or absence of several businesses, with Wal-Mart being the main one.

Title: Re: Riverton: Kingston-Harkinsville Metro Area International Airport 1/21/13
Post by: sunv123 on January 21, 2013, 08:53:26 AM
Kingston-Harkinsville Metro Area International Airport

Welcome to the Kingston-Harkinsville Metro Area International Airport! The Kingston-Harkinsville Metro Area is located not far from the Robinsim City limits, only 40 miles away and is the 2nd largest Metropolitan area after the Caspen-Wikinson-Noaming Metro Area, also known as CWN. Kingston is the Main city in the Metro, with 337,834 residents and Harkinsville with a big 196,032 residents. There are also some small suburban towns including Jasmin, Benson and Watercrest. They are all under 16,00 residents. The airport is actually located in Harkinsville, where land is 8% cheaper than Kingston. Also, more land is available in Harkinsville, as Harkinsville is still a developing city jump-started with a high tech boom in the 1950s. The downtown is filled with modern buildings and offices, but we'll visit that a little later. ;) Now, who wants to go to the airport?

We'll start off with an overview on what we are visiting toady, a drab, generic airport that is screaming for renovation, but the money needed is still not available.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg171.imageshack.us%2Fimg171%2F5795%2Frivertonfeb225013587784.jpg&hash=fbab577c59f29f1133f17e5f32ac7405c6a2c45a)

Night shots just because. ;)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg6.imageshack.us%2Fimg6%2F5795%2Frivertonfeb225013587784.jpg&hash=1809c0eab88006e1188af23ee7f64e11e23e50a3)

We move to the regional jet and propelled plane area, where you can get cheap flights to Robinsim for just $30 dollars round-trip. What a deal! ::)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg826.imageshack.us%2Fimg826%2F5690%2Frivertonfeb225013587785.jpg&hash=85ba087ae2d3057126a477035c92e9d016939d96)

And heh, night shots are fun! Moving on the the upper concourse.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg33.imageshack.us%2Fimg33%2F5690%2Frivertonfeb225013587785.jpg&hash=d8b5bdfc259221f281c0e1e5fc3ab80218ba646f)

Masingham Electromagnetics has it's headquarters in Harkinsville and a Major Research centers in Belgium, Sweden, Finland and many more dotted across the European Union. They like Europe. :D Managers and bosses have meetings in Harkinsville, making air travel necessary for these officials. Then there is the fact with HM Financial Services, with  a corpoate center in Hong Kong..... Ah, you get the point. :P They need big planes. Delta is the main carrier here, this 777 is leaving for Toronto, Canada.

Thanks, Metarvo! Beaches sure area big plus when it comes to seafronts, they attract lots of people.

Yeah, i don't see Wal-Marts very often, they look great, but people seem to not use them. In america, without Wal-Marts, a town wouldn't really be called a town.

Now thats a snow storm! Love the first pic from the previews update. Should definitely visit your MD more often :)

Teaser

Seems like Simcity is acting strange on me, making random CTDs when you don't expect it to. I'll have to find a way to fix this. In the meantime, here's a little pic that I somehow snapped. Suburbs, anyone?

Hi guys.... just doing some replies, not much time for an update. :P Got the Ice and Sleet all over the ground, which is making it extremely hard to get to the supermarket for food. %wrd Plus, to be safe on the highway, you need to go 15 MPH, and when you try to get places... not fun. Plus, I feel a little bored of SC4 once in a while and the past two days have been the same. Still, surprises are coming, I'm telling ya.

Just one last word to you guys, I'm am so sad today, took away my chance to make an update. One of the great content creators for SC4 has passed away, Dr. Peter Rorlach (DocRorlach) and I am missing him. My condolences to his family and friends, as January has been hard for them. You're not alone, we miss you.

What the H*** is going on, is this like a bug or something???????

I had just exited from my region and this scary-looking thin came across my region and I'm scared that it's a big bug and that I'll never put the finishing touches on Robinsim or my plans. :'( Here's a few snap-shot of the scary-looking thing. (No Photoshop used, trust me. Not joking AT ALL.) This came across my region.

If you guys have any information on this, tell me. Please.

Sometime when you minimize the game ( to go on the desktop) for a long time on the region view a lots of clouds appear.

Call it the San Francisco effect :D

I had this happen when alt-tabbing out of fullscreen mode. After a while it should go away. Does it persist when entering/exiting a city?

I'll try both of your suggestions after I exit out of the game for the second time. &sly

I'll keep trying.

-Victor

EDIT: Seems like it will go away when you enter a tile and then exit, but now we have another problem on our hands, Blunder's tree controller keeps on going away, as in one day it works, then the other it goes back to the maxis one. I think i'll contact Blunder (epicblunder) about it.
Title: Re: Riverton : What the...............
Post by: Swordmaster on January 26, 2013, 03:19:10 PM
Aha, I had that same problem when I made my controller. This is blunder's problem, not yours. I have to think about how I fixed this, if he doesn't know it already of course.

Blunders controller blocks maxis flora, I know for a fact (as I provided the files ;)) so it's likely some other controller or mmp loads after his controller. Did you check for plugins loading order?
Title: Re: Riverton : What the...............
Post by: sunv123 on January 26, 2013, 03:54:05 PM
Sorry for the late reply, but the only other tree mod that I have is the SFBT Tree replacement mod and that's it, could that be a problem?
Title: Re: Riverton : What the...............
Post by: vortext on January 26, 2013, 04:02:05 PM
After a quick peek at the files I think SFBTs mod may be the culprit indeed. Try removing SFBT_Maxis_God_Flora_Mod_CP.dat and see if that fixes it.

Quite nice indeed. I personally think you've stretched the rock textures too far in that last shot. I also wonder what grades the road has. Looks pretty realistic from what I can tell.

After all the bad luck you've had between prop pox and deleted updates, you've managed to rise back up and score OSITM.  Now, that's resilience!  :)  The mountain road and observation tower are well placed, and the growing town is made that much more realistic by the houses under construction.  Good work, Sunv123!

Post by: sunv123 on February 01, 2013, 04:46:10 PM
Welcome to the special OSITM update!

City Planning

I thought about it and YOU guys are the only reason I got this OSITM. It belongs to you. I want to make it commenter/viewer friendly, so i decided to make a poll today. I want you guys to be part of all of my OSITM. So here are the choices that you can say yes or no to.

Starting in Kingston, a small residential boom has occurred, fueled by rising housing prices and increased demand in the region. Developers are trying to use every single strip of land that is open to earn big money for their companies.

Here is an area proposed for luxury townhouse development.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg835.imageshack.us%2Fimg835%2F3431%2Fsunnyingtonjul824713596.jpg&hash=81b63014f28b6f2a04951ab96bfdddcb94f3158b)

Pros

Cons

Proposed Condo Development near Kingston's downtown. This plot of land used to be an old grocery store demolished after being abandoned for 12 years. (sorry for the quad edge, there was not much space for me to use.)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg7.imageshack.us%2Fimg7%2F3431%2Fsunnyingtonjul824713596.jpg&hash=9601b99bffc7865036a2efe8054babd860d104d1)

Pros

Cons

Now moving to Voittaja, development is also pacing up.

Proposed single-family homes starting at $300,000 Simoleons.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg833.imageshack.us%2Fimg833%2F9198%2Fnewcitysep3241359761328.jpg&hash=6bb4953bd39616b77b2141b1f68d300ffb653d89)

Pros

Cons

Proposed commercial area in Voittaja, with a Wal-Mart in the plans.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg692.imageshack.us%2Fimg692%2F9766%2Fnewcitysep3241359761399f.jpg&hash=c0539ded4b439f0c97c419e3d3ba7251cdd4cf1e)

Pros

Cons

Proposed Office space in the old Industrial district. Also in the plans is revitalizing the district.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg841.imageshack.us%2Fimg841%2F6251%2Fnewcitysep3241359761860.jpg&hash=1abe8ed8d9f1b99c468a1a9751a59dd2bfc588d5)

Pros

Cons

Now go ahead and vote, only the top 3 goes into the cities! Let's see what wins! ;D Tell us what you voted for if you want, or you can keep it personal. ;)

Replies will be in the results, thanks for commenting!

Special thanks to the OSITM team for their hard work!

Post by: M4346 on February 02, 2013, 02:01:32 AM

As for the other two options, I will join those who are protesting against the move by shouting:

"Save the Trees and Our Community!" :angrymore:

Quick little pic today, here's the region we'll be mainly focusing on. I'll be taking Ideas on what you would like in this region.

So here it is, the region.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg35.imageshack.us%2Fimg35%2F6239%2Fpicilz.jpg&hash=91aaa1dad74b9a625d2a4e12f08c67efd32fbd3a)

I'll be showing plans for the region later, focusing on realism as much as I can.(especially details and MMPs.) Infrastructure will also play a big role in this region.

I voted for the second, third, and fourth options.  Condos, and particularly affordable ones, will go a long way towards curtailing a housing shortage.  The single-family homes will provide additional housing options.  As for the commercial development, I think it's a must.  The new residents will need a Wal-Mart.

Progress marches on, and sometimes the timber must be cut.  Hopefully, the wood goes to the lumber mill to be useful for something after having been cut down.  Your use of MMP's is stunningly good.  MMPs have to be one of the hottest new SC4 developments to surface in recent years.

Good work, Sunv123!  &apls

Ok guys, the results are in...

The condos and the Office space are in the top 3, and we have a tie between Luxury Townhomes and the Single-Family homes.

So I will flip a coin later to see what side wins!.....

uhm...

I think you broke it. I really do not hope that the files have gone corrupt or something else which would be equally terrible.
Or was it your graphics cars which decided to leave you?

Or am I just being a total newbie and is this something very easy fixable? :p

Greetings,

Quinten

Lol, all you have to do is exit the city. ;)

I think it could be because of the fact that I minimize the game when I'm working on my cities. It's a bad habit that I don't think that i'll ever leave behind. &mmm

It could be your graphics card. I had similar weird, if not flat-out psychedelic glitches happening which disappeared after fidling with the settings. Might be worth while to check. In any case, lovely nature scenes, too bad modern civilization is catching up. Then again, I'm looking forward to the latest developments!

The Coos Inn looks like a lovely place to "get away from it all." The only down side is that "it all" appears to have followed it out there with that logging operation going on right next door.

Any long term plans besides basic logging? Will there be new homes springing up in the newly cleared area? Inquiring minds want to know.

Nice work on the scenes, and I'll be looking forward to more.

Thanks for commenting here, Matt. Yes, the logging operation may be a little close, but it won't last very long. Just to clear up some land for future developments... ;)

Thanks, Willy :) The logs? They just use it to clean off extra sawdust and kill some pesty insects that may have gotten into the logs. Wonderful that the trains are okay. :D

Hmm, I admire your courage. I'm getting the same results as you, with a lot of texture overlap (those hatching lines). Last picture you seem to have gotten it right (a longer stretch than I've managed so far). I also think you need different rocks, preferably HD. Keep at it (and share some tricks :D).

WOW! I should have stopped by earlier!!! This MD is developing quite fast :) Your forest scenes are brilliant! And that creek is really well done as well! That must have cost you much patience! My favorite so far is the lighthouse. I'd love to sit there, watching the waves coming onto the land!

Keep on your great work!  &apls &apls  &apls
I'm glad that you think that I have improved. ()stsfd() It's always great to see you stop by. BTW, Galloway forest is looking great! :)

Cheers
Willy

Thanks, Willy. :) Yeah, those hatching lines are really annoying. I've found some HD rocks, but they don't seem to fir my needs. But it is still better than having no rocks. :D

Thanks, buddy. Thanks for that assuring comment. :)

Aw, my OSITM run is ending tomorrow. :'( I might be able to squeeze in another update, but for right now, I hope that you enjoyed! :)

First time I see the common spruces, it seems they fit well with other flora items.

Good job  :)

Today, I have a quick question for you guys.

I'm looking for an airport terminal that looks nice and modern. I've already got the terminal set from the ABC - VLT pack. I can't find any on the STEX or anything like briplazza, etc.

There might be one on a Japanese site, but I haven't checked yet.

Any help would be highly appreciated! :)

Sorry for the double post, but i'm just dropping by to say that i'm still alive and so is my MD. Right now, I guess i'll call it a "hibernation" as RL has been pushing me to the limits.

Though, I still might have some time to show you some progress pics today, but there probably (there might ;)) isn't going to be another full update until the end of May/Early June.

Thanks all.

Terrisburgh Interchange

Alright, i'm back! ;D After all those RL pains, I finally have enough time to run Riverton again.

Terrisburgh is a new quad i've been working on in a new region i'm working on. It borders the main city of  _ _ _ _ _ _ _, and is the largest of the 4 suburb cities surrounding it. I'll be showing you the "awkward" interchange that was built in the 1980s and hasn't been changed much at all since it was built. The interchange features Highway 132(coming  from the north) and Highway 15, the region's main East-West Highway. (coming from the east and west)

Thanks Simlink! Life is like a Ferris wheel, sometimes it's high, and sometimes it's low. Guess, i'm back in the highs :)

Great! (And I see some nice street curves ;) )

The black space is where one of Terring's space ships is hidden. (Hence why it's called Black Space.)

Cheers
Willy

PS: Those rail slopes are a bit tough.  Sorry &mmm

Close, but not quite ;). I love those street curves <3

about the rail slops, i've tried to fix them and now IMO they look a lot better.

A New Beginning

Old things come and go and i'm afraid i'll have to say the same with Riverton. North Gresham may be the last update in the Riverton region...

Because we're going to start a Growth MD, Provo! ;D ;D ;D

(Didn't want to make the post too big lol)

This MD will be taking place in a small town on the Pacific coast in Canada and we'll watch it grow to a ________. Hope you like the concept and we'll begin right away.

Provo

Welcome to Provo, Pop. 2,298. April 12, 1956.

April 12, 1956. M. P. Enderson Railway Co. had a recently built a rail line from the larger city of Landon to the east to the small mining town of Redstone to the North. The residents of Provo had been in isolation until S-23 was built, but the road wasn't built to accommodate larger freight trucks and large vehicles. A rail spur to the city would be a major step in adding businesses to Provo. The Mayor held a meeting with the Mr. Enderson and some popular businesses in Provo to sort out construction of the rail line.

June 23, 1956. M. P. Enderson had agreed to build small rail terminus south of Downtown Provo at the cost of 2,000 dollars, or around 12,000 dollars today. It would include a parking area, one restaurant and a 3 ticket stands.

July 30, 1956, Construction began on the Spur line and the terminus.

Landon

Welcome to Landon, pop. 454,096 in 1964

QuoteLandon was founded in 1867 and had served as a small banking center until rapid growth started in 1947. The city had seen a decline in pop. due to rising crime rates in it's southern areas, with many of the city's historic rowhouses being abandoned. Things have been improving since 1961, with an expensive renovation for many of the city's aging civics and transport systems. WWII had a large effect on the city's industrial areas, making it go from a small warehouse area to a large manufacturing area where tank parts and tires were made. The city now suffers from a pollution issue, making it forbidden to start any more new developments within a 3 mile radius of the plants.

The city has a depressing 27% poverty rate, the highest within an area of 500 miles.

Delete one pole every other pole, you have a double brown car.

If you have the knowledge, you can scale up the yellow car to 120 / 130% to fit the rest of vehicules

Is that a TE-lot with a road texture? I'm not really sure how you accomplished that scene, but even with the road breaks it's impressive (you didn't have to paint those traffic cones by hand, did you?

Also, I'm not really sure what they're doing...telephone line maintenance?

That's a very nice scene Sunv! I think the second picture fits better as there isn't so many cars on the road, the first probably has a few too many.

I look forward to seeing more of this project!

@APSMS : I would assume that they are just plain lots with the default road texture. Then some car, powerline and cone props have been placed on the lot as well. :)

However, I'd recomend to delete that double-bus. I find it difficult to believe that the bus is going to take the small parking lane instead of the wide road. :)

Thanks for encouraging words guys

I was looking for some more LOTing material and I came across this baby. Michigan Central Station. I will be a tough challenge indeed, but I'm going to re-create the station when It was still bustling and running.

Some info about it

Quote from: WikipediaMichigan Central Station (also known as Michigan Central Depot or MCS), built in mid-1912 through 1913 for the Michigan Central Railroad, was Detroit, Michigan's passenger rail depot from its opening in 1913 after the previous Michigan Central Station burned, until the cessation of Amtrak service on January 6, 1988. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world.[1]
The building is located in the Corktown district of Detroit near the Ambassador Bridge, approximately ¾-mile (1.2km) southwest of downtown Detroit. It is located behind Roosevelt Park, and the Roosevelt Warehouse is adjacent to the east. The city's Roosevelt Park serves as a grand entry way to the station. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Restoration projects and plans have gone as far as the negotiation process, but none has come to fruition. In 2011, work began to remove glass and add new windows

Perhaps you could upload the modified LOT when you're done with it?

Either way it'll be nice to see what you do with it. Looks like quite the project, though, esp. with the pics you've provided.

Michigan Central is being quite the nuisance, some of the props and textures aren't showing up in-game :angrymore:

I've been working on the SHT pack as well, with 3 new additions to the family :)

(Need to fix up the diagonal textures)

(Anybody know a fix for this? The props show on the other LOTs but don't show on just this single one.)

I am thinking of making some street vendor LOTs to fill up the gaps between roads like these

I wish there was more life in the pics. I do see some cars but it seems like not enough. I do really like how all the buildins seem to fit together very well. Great choice of custom content.

Robin

Thanks for your feedback Robin. I've tried many mods to try and increase the amount of cars on the road, even my busiest stretches have barely any cars showing up

Delete one pole every other pole, you have a double brown car.

If you have the knowledge, you can scale up the yellow car to 120 / 130% to fit the rest of vehicules

Thanks for the kind words Antonie :). I will try to do that, but I'm kind of a newbie to SC4MT &mmm I'll check some of the tutorials

Quote from:  APSMSIs that a TE-lot with a road texture? I'm not really sure how you accomplished that scene, but even with the road breaks it's impressive (you didn't have to paint those traffic cones by hand, did you?

Also, I'm not really sure what they're doing...telephone line maintenance?

Thanks APSMS! Yes, I was trying to recreate what you said. I used just LE for this, so nothing's functional  (If it was TE'd, they wouldn't [At least I don't know if they can] be able to be placed right next to each other.

Quote from:  RepublicMasterThat's a very nice scene Sunv! I think the second picture fits better as there isn't so many cars on the road, the first probably has a few too many.

I look forward to seeing more of this project!

@APSMS : I would assume that they are just plain lots with the default road texture. Then some car, powerline and cone props have been placed on the lot as well. :)
Thanks Will! I was trying to re-create some "rural" roads near where I live, with commuters taking the small roads to steer away from the congested interstates. And a double thanks for clearing that up for APSMS

Quote from: art128I like the new apartment complex, good work on the lotting.

However, I'd recomend to delete that double-bus. I find it difficult to believe that the bus is going to take the small parking lane instead of the wide road. :)

Thanks Arthur! I was using the bus as like a shuttle service for some of the buisnessmen and women, though like you said, it is a very narrow fit. &mmm

Oh, no, it's a wreck!  :o  I hope no one got hurt too badly.  Traffic's going to be a nightmare for those commuters, but it looks like the scene is set up well.  It reminds me of the traffic jams that happen in Dallas, Texas on the city's many freeways.  An accident or work zone can turn those roads into parking lots.

Congratulations on getting #1 on BTT, Victor!   &apls

Love that, Victor. Nice busy traffic scene, although you're guilty of reinforcing my idea that NRD4 is off scale :D

St. Garris Lighthouse V2

I am very sorry that my OSITM did't go as planned; sometimes RL can just give you a wild ride. I hope that it wasn't a complete failure to you guys as it was to me. I hope that I can do better next time. ()sad()

Without further adieu, shall we begin!

Is it time already?

:party:It's Riverton/Provo's first Birthday!

Wow. My first year here was an amazing experience sharing my developments to all of you folks here at SC4D. I have learned so much about MMPs, LOTting, Photo-editing, and last but not least all of you guys. Although we've gone through highs and lows, at the end we're still here. I never started this MD to get attention and Karma points, I started it to see what I could accomplish with SC4 and what advice I could get form all of you, the best teachers you could ever find. I hope that I can continue this for years to come and that this will have been just the beginning. I truly thank all of you for supporting me through the first year of my MD.

First off, Happy Independence day to all my American viewers!

Over the past few days I had quite a bit of free time now that things in RL are starting to slow down during the summer months. I played around and made a city that I was actually quite pleased with. So here it is, the town of Ashland.

Welcome back my friend !
The cozy town is really nice, but I think it would be better to use one kind of style of residence.(as I can see, there are more than two kind of style in your town)
Of course, it is only my personal view.
