Hey all are you a first time visitor here to SC4Devotions???  If so this is the perfect spot for you to read before posting about the evil monkey lol... I know that the monkey can be a terrible thing when trying to get on the exchange but trust me when we are done here we can avoid him all together  ;D

First thing first is that you need to register separately on the LEX page here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/) <--- Link to actual registration Page

Then when you are registering for the LEX it is best advised that you use the same name and password that you have used when you register here on the Forums...

Also Make sure you use a valid email address to when registering for the LEX otherwise you wont get the activation email that is needed....  So why is it suggested that you use the same username and password as the forums? So it would be simpler on you to remember your password in case the cookies got reset on your computer...

Usually once logged on the LEX after getting the activation email you will be always logged on the LEX so there will be no need to re-log on every time to the LEX...

So now armed with this information I hope this will help you all to avoid this evil monkey!!!

Thank you, Pat, for posting this. One thing to remember is that you must use exactly the same username and password that you use to register as the LEX is case sensitive so AbCdE is not the same as abcde or ABCDE.

Wish that was true for me as I have to re-log in every time I visit the LEX.  Until I saw this post, I thought that was the norm.  So why is that?

i always have to enter my password.  i visit the LEX every day and it gets old.  cant you put a "remember me" check box on the page?  and having to click login after we click the LEX icon at the top is kinda dumb.  dosent that eat up bandwidth?

I wonder if that might be the key to having the saved log in? That is what I do across all three browsers I use IE, FF, & Opera and I just click on that saved bookmark and it has me logged in as I do with the forums...

@ Barby it was great to set up this little tutorial as I saw nothing like it was around yet...

The LEX requires you to go through the log in screen every time you visit, but if you use Firefox and remember the password, you can access the main page directly (if you bookmark the URL) without having to log in.  Also, if you have saved the password with FF, then on the login screen it should automatically enter the password for you....if it doesn't, click on the username box and select your username, and the password field will complete  :thumbsup:

I am new to the forum and as other are finding (reading through other topics) I am experiencing a few issues with BSC file exchange. I have registered with it and setup the username and password as per the recommendations on the forum that your team have kindly put up as a sticky but have still not received an activation for files exchange for  3 days. I have tried to log in using my user and password but again all I get is the monkey. Please can you let me know what to do in this instance and arrange the issue of an activation login for this part of the site as soon as possible. . You have since sent a reply to the email I sent you and I have followed your instructions to use this forum area.

I have a problem, I entered a valid email address, but didn't receive the activation email, nor was it filtered as spam, cause I checked.

I did indeed use the same email address, the username and password I am unsure of, it was a few weeks back.

Yes,in fact when I tried to Register (in cas I had forgot) I get an error when I reuse the details

Thanks, xxdita, I'm able to get into the LEX now. Love the site and especially the LEX search feature. I was able to get to the files I needed quickly and easily. And the downloads are fast! Thanks again..

Unable to login.

I can see no problem with your account, tkopics, and also see you have downloaded today so I assume you have solved your problem.

I was able to download from links, but if I click here on the site to browse, I get to the log-in or register page and can't log-in there.
Maybe there is another way to the list?

If you're able to get to specific downloads, following links from here at SC4Devotion or elsewhere,
and since downloads have been registered in your name (ktopics) even today,
you've obviously got a functional login and password saved in a cookie.

Thus, if you cannot login from the default login page, you're probably not giving the right username or password.

However, as long as your correct username and password are saved in that cookie,
in order to bypass the default login page (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/Default.htm),
you may jump directly to the main page (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/fr_main.htm).

That won't work if you clear your cookies though.

I am a new user on this site and i have a problem with registration for LEX.

atom: you cannot use the username atom on the LEX as it is already in use. Please try to register with a different username and password. You do not have to use the same as for the forums.

I have received my activation email, and have followed all the steps, but when I goto login I get that darned evil monkey! HELP!!! &ops

You appear to have two active accounts: SimRainford  and SC4Rainford. Are you sure you are using the correct password for the correct username?

Yeah it is the same password...but it keeps on telling me that I have entered invalid data

I can reset one or both passwords. You can either send me a PM with the password/s you would like and I will change it/them or I can reset them and send you a PM. I would suggest not having the same password for both accounts, however.

Moderator: I can't log-in to the LEX (I don't know why, but the password stored on my pc isn't being accepted) and I see no way for me to reset that password; can you help me out here?  Thanks! %confuso

i was registered on sc4devotion and then i also registered me for the Lex exchange. I received the confirm registration e-mail and when i go on the link to confirm, it bring me on an error page...It's impossible find the page..possible cause etc..etc.
How can i risolve this problem???I have read other post about, but i didn't find nothing that coul resolve my problem type.

I've had this issue every single time I've tried getting a file off the LEX, instead of bothering the mods, i've just re-registered for the LEX, please consider just reworking it so there isn't a second login needed, since its just redundant.

It is already quite some time ago that I registered to SC4D and the LEX. Somehow in these days I thought that I had to use a different Username for the site and for the LEX. So now I need to log in separately to the LEX every time I want to take a look there.
Is it possible to change my Username? The password is already identical.
My username to the SC4D is FrankU (as you might know already) and the username for the LEX is FrankvU.

OK, thanks. But when I try to log in I get the warning that I confuse the System Quality Controller. So I thought: there is no account now for the LEX, so I register anew with the same username and password as for the SC4D. But again I confuse the monkey. What to do now?

You have two LEX profiles. Diamondkool and Diamondkool1. I locked the second. Diamondkool looks like it was activated. So I deactivated it then reactivated it as seems you're having trouble. Try again. Reply here if you need your password reset.

Is it possible to change passwords on the LEX?  I always try to change passwords every so often everywhere, but I can't see anywhere on the LEX to change the password and the password I have right now is a little unsafe(lets just say its the same as it was 2 years ago and was then my universal password, but has no letters or numbers like most of my passwords have now)

I'm new to this forum, only registered today, and I'm having problems registering with LEX. I got the activation email, but when I followed the link, it told me the account was already active. When I tried to login, it told me to activate the account...  I tried twice, so it would be great if you could activate the account Jenny R. I used the same email for both.

My username/email where both to have a ".", and I think I might have accidentally used the "_" in either or both, then tried to correct it.  Getting the "already registered..."
