Title: Menu name change
Post by: deanva on March 23, 2019, 10:54:18 AM
Is there a way to change the menu name of a custom made lot, done in Lot Editor? I have a few custom made lots that show like "Grass Area" instead of what is actually on the the lot. Example might be "John's parking lot" but shows up in game as "Grass area". Think I may have seen it once before long time ago, but don't recall what to to do if possible a link would be helpful.

One problem with using the Maxis LE, is that it requires you to save a duplicate of an existing lot to make a new one. Often, when this happens, many settings are duplicated which are undesirable to have. In this case, likely the new lot links to the original LText files, which retain the name of the lot used as a template.

Creating your lots with PIM-X (X-Tool/SC4-PIM) instead prevents these problems. Your lot will take on whatever name you give it.

Fixing existing lots would require opening them in iLives Reader, then either removing the links to the LText files (User Visible Name Key & Item Description Key), replacing them with Item Name and Item Description, which allow you to manually enter the Name/Descriptions. The other solution requires making new LText files and altering the IDs so they link to your unique ones.
