Title: Banff
Post by: sim-al2 on June 11, 2008, 09:18:42 AM
Welcome to Banff!

As my first MD, ever, this might not be the best region ever, but myself and others appearently think it is good. Below is The Table of Contents and the first posts. Orginally it was called Calgary, but I decided Banff was a better name since it creates thoughts of the beauty of the North-west, which I have attempted to capture. Enjoy the lush forests and mountains of a brand new MD!

So sit back and enjoy!  ;D

If you want to see the best first, then go to Banff V2.0 below. ;)

From now on, just consider page three the first page!

Nice train pics there.  Either of those first two shots should do well in the Picture Comp in my opinion.

I look forward to seeing more of your region.

sim-al2,
Great start, very interesting pictures.  Even if your region is under construction, you'll find that many of us are very interested in how people setup thier cities.  So don't be afraid to show unfinished sections of your city.  ;)
I look forward to seeing more.

Another fantastic update.
If I can suggest to you to turn off the grid when taking your pictures, they may look a little more pleasing.
I just came back from camping this past weekend so I find this update very nice.
Great use of the sway bridge over the Peg stream.

For the airport/poll at top:

I would design the airport to accomodate 747's, but with the current state of airlines perhaps show that only service with commuter planes is provided at the present time.

Your city looks nice and green, and cool....I have to go out soon and mow the yard here in SE Texas where it is freaking hot and humid &Thk/(

Post by: sim-al2 on July 24, 2008, 06:02:40 AM
Well, it's been a while but here's a BIG update. Not in size, but in importance. Brand New Region Time! ;D Blast it! I can never get a perfect region, at least till now skip this and go to the next page! And, I think people could be elected to help build up this place. I don't feel like making up a story right now, so just look at these.

And now, the best for last, NIGHT SHOTS!!!  ;)

My plan is as the following. The region is under construction to house a number people, and a lot of entertainment venues (Thank You Simgoober) I will answer any questions you have and will soon post a list of positions for the development council.

Over and out....

P.S. Anyone know how to get rid of this stupid voting box?

Heh!  That's my recollection of how the RL version of Banff started as well.

It's been nice to go back through to the beginning of your nice MD on this unexpected (I thought we were going to be off the air today) Sunday morning.  You've got a great start, and it will be interesting to see how you weave all the bits you've shown us together.

Good luck!

I think first you should get your region on it's feet. I've looked at your MD attempt, and you definately need to post something concrete. And yes, a sig ad would definetely help. After your region's got a purpose and direction, then we'll talk business.
MD attempt? Anyway, I do have something "concrete" in the works.(technically it's asphalt ;D) Here's a hint:(ahem)shhhhhhhhh......bonk bonk(tire squel)

Hey, sorry about that. I hadn't seen those region shots yet. Last I looked there was just a first page and some random shots of random things.
The concrete has been poured. To make the image a link, put [ url=http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4957.0 ] in front of the IMG code, and [ /url ] after it (without the spaces of course).

That is a pretty nice region. I like the terraforming, and it should be interesting to follow.

A little less photoshopping on this one. I wonder what's going on in the bottom-right and left corners? Also, a certain photo-processing person outlined a plane at a extremely sharp angle. It's believed that the plane was Frontier Airlines 302, which had a dual engine-failure and barely avoided skiding off the opposite end of the runway(which I shall show soon &hlp)

More to be soon! :P

P.S. The name of this island is Rikers Island.

The Find

NCR Ministry of Resource Protection and Extraction: Thursday, March 24, 2027  8:42 A.M.

Ford: Jeffreys, where's that simulation result I told you to run overnight?

Jeffreys: It's right here sir.

Ford: Interesting, lots of coal in the Omega sector and....  that can't be right! The computer must have a glitch! Are you sure you ran the simulator with the right parameters?

Jeffreys: I'm certain sir. I triple-checked it last night before I left.

Ford: It says here there's over a million barrels in Segment 42-A. Is that possible?

Jeffreys: I'm not sure there could be that much oil in one place and it not be discovered. Maybe we should take this to Mr. Mullen's office.

Ford: That's what we should do then. And rerun that simulator!

Mr. Mullen's Office:

Mullen: You say a million barrels? That much is unlikely, but if the computer indicates such a high likely hood of large reserves, we should send a drilling crew.

3 Weeks Later:

Ford: Mr. Mullen, we got the report from the expeditionary crew!

Mullen: Well, tell me what the found.

Ford: They found an extremely large amount of oil!

Mullen: How much is extremely large?

Ford: We're not sure the exact reserves, but when they hit the first pocket, oil shot over the top of the derrick!

And so it begins...

Bonus Points to anyone who figures out what the acronym NCR means!

sim-al2,

I love how vibrant your pictures are especially the AFDES Summit Park and AFDES Plaza. They fill me with energy (I am also listening to an Electric/Dance.com radio station so the two factors are about to make me explode). Anyways, looking forward to how the new region develops.
