As I always liked sweden and showing pictures, I decided to start a RegionJournal myself.
So first of all I want to show you the old Town, "Gamla Stan" of Katrineholm, a small town with currently 6000 inhabitants.

I hope you enjoy this and come here very often ()stsfd()
Nice start.
That's a nice old town. Great start.
Looking forward to more...
Thanks for your comments
This time we see some Overviews of the kommun of Katrineholm, that consists of the tätorts
Rönninge on the same-named lake Rönningesjön (north), the former farmers' village Täby in the middle and Katrineholm on the island in the south.

thats all for now :)
Nice to see Your MD here too! This is a good start, keep it on,
greetz, Carl
Now, that is a good start! I really liked the first picture, very representative. I also like the highway running through the hill.
Great stuff, really beautiful &apls
Thanks for the comments :)
Because of RL, I will only post updates on the WE in future &mmm
Very nice start! &apls I like the Scandinavian feel, the diagonals, and the great rural scenes. Looking forward to more, even if it's only on the weekends ;)
I still miss an IKEA store. That's a joke. :P I like your house very udn the landscaping to fit very well.
It´s funny to read because Rönninge and Täby lies about 400km from Katrineholm, but thats another story, and the names of all the swedish towns are usually used three or four times whitin the country. You can for example have the kommun (municipality) of Katrineholm, the city of Katrineholm, the village of katrineholm, and maybe an area of the countryside called katrineholm, but thats very common in other countrys too.
Well, an ikea and some wall to wall buildings near the church and then you´re done with it ;)
And my opinion is that im glad that you took my country into SC4 :) Really nice! I could´nt done it better.
Thanx for all the nice comments
@corndead thank you very much :)
Great start! I love the buildings you're using, they're giving your region a very unique feel!
Nice work with the small village and the overviews! :)
Nice farms and the small town is looking wonderful!
Great work.
Hej,
Thanks for your comments :)
RL is a little bit stressy at the moment as I have to pass some tests at school, so I can only show you one pic today:
An Overview of Gröngarda, just west of Katrineholm
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F25136c826d92bf05f25fd9845e4eb872.jpg&hash=70bf55e686764c8160f8b30e9f1a89ef250008ce)
btw: there's an IKEA-store ;D
Hooray IKEA! :P
I really love your farms. They have a very realistic feel to them, much better than what I come up with. &mmm Those villages are really well planned too. What download set did those houses come from?
Also, do you think you can and more line breaks between pictures? It's a little bit jarring for me to have the pictures right on top of other. :)
This overviews are awesome! &apls
I like Your style.
Greetz, Carl
I really love the forests. They reminds me of the deep forests of northern Sweden a lot
Tip: It would be even more realistic if the ikea was within a industrial and some low office zoning. Just put like two warehouses and some ministores (and maybe like a mcdonalds somewhere by the main road) and then you have a small Swedish town for real ;) i also like the fields :)
Good landscaping :) Keep it up !
Hey, I like your style. Looking forward to new updates.
@ all: Thanks for your comments :)
Back to Gröngårda!
http://(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F8d344e30321c815505b4093419b51f22.jpg&hash=cf6d44e8ffe71a196e2ea80910b3f3ef6511234b) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
1. a nearer zoom, you can see that the town was built with a plan in the 18th century, just like many cities in Sweden.
There is Storgatan, running South - North (the church has the tower to the east), and the east-west streets (from N to S) norra langgatan, första avenyn (1st avenue), åndra avenyn(second avenue) and södra langgatan, the market place lies between första and åndra.
http://(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fdb76c59be88e08b63bc2e07bf5f84e43.jpg&hash=aba6203d6f8ad8b7ba0edc5ab99f244ccb214956) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
2. The market place is called Olof Palme Torg.
http://(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Ff7b24456e9809fc30b421064a1114fc7.jpg&hash=2542e9858b5164b3d08300e42c7be2291120154f) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
3. The council housing from the miljonprogrammet in the 50ties and 60ties
That's all for today, I hope you like it :)
Hi, Flatron ...
I like Your Swedish Houses very much ..., but I have one problem with this ...
I can't see Your "Woodcrafted Swedish Townhouses" (from STEX) in my city in a smallest view - is it right ? I see only clear plates without any buildings ...
Thank You ...
Thats rather weird I think, because for me they work properly for every zoom level ()what()
I have to check that
Thank You, Flatron ...
This my problems - hope it help:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1248.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fhh485%2Fsaroga56%2FSwedishHouses-Mix650.jpg&hash=6a0e50f9879595c302f24f947f9b6830f13cd46b)
My mind - excellent buildings for real rural CJs ...
Great update &apls I'm always a fan of Scandinavian style ;D
Another nice village. It's rather interesting to see the contrast between old and modern styles between the original village and the council projects.
This time i show you Kiså, a rather big town (9000 inhabitants ;D) on the railwayline "Söderlandsstambanan"
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fea9ed04127da47432858bfcfadbee085.jpg&hash=893a44b22286b0ec31e116006eb5f9adc63e4d2a) (http://www.ld-host.de/)

2. The towncentre, where a few houses were destroyed in the 70ties when the building of the handelsbanken was built.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fb854c6763e5545d1b293d8e09c8b8e9e.jpg&hash=6d3dbf871ccf7b8de166bed6ccd775571087b1ee) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
3. countryside
Btw.: I have now switched from Stockholm- to Uppsalamap because there was just to much water in Stockholm
I like those little houses in the close up pic. i don't think i've ever seen them before but there very cute.
Nice choice of buildings, very accurate. Good job
Awesome update &apls I really like the way the fields look with those rolling hills and the transport system looks excellent. Keep it up
Agreed with noahclem. The hills really help add variety to this town, and you did a great job in keeping out all the idiosyncrasies that SC4 tries to do with hills!
Nice small town. Very green. And I also like the hills.
I love Scandinavia! Where can I find those council housing apartment blocks?
@all : thx for pulling me out of the inactive part  ()stsfd()
The townhouses are from me, you can find them on the stex, the towery apt. blocks are from delija, stex , too and the council houses with the gabled roof are 50ties tenements from the sfbt, they can be found at http://www.kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=28 (http://www.kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=28)
Flatron ! es sieht ausgezeichnet aus !
Well done &apls
@Tokugawa: Dankeschön :)
I didn't intend to do an update today, but I'm so happy about beeing out of the inactive section ()stsfd(), so I show you that Kiså's Ringroad was completed in the meantime:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fe6693e6b12b030689a8dfcaa51500603.jpg&hash=ef655f93050855662d36961d224fd7e023a3dd9d) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
Here you see how the creek runs through the old heart of the town.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F9e2ac6d3130a1a61db1a17c0eb84cce3.jpg&hash=8cf868b452cd1b1ca93bec0d3aed0fd7d143cb87) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
Kiså had been a köping (in between a village and town, in Germany we call it Markt) until the country was reorganized into kommuns that can be anything from plain landscape to big cities. Nowadays however, Kiså kommun has only one tätort(dense built area), the town itself.
Nice small town and fields. &apls
Really beautiful, skandinavian town. I like it ! &apls
Great new pictures &apls The ring-road looks very well-planned and the little creek running through the center is very nice
I'm glad you like my style :) Expect an update until sunday :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F5a22e0cdea2616fc95c3e49206766a6a.jpg&hash=a37ec2e3a0cecd6dc68039d7b46ff4d68a0bce75) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
Greetings from Grönskär! It's a very nice place to stay now in april when everything is blooming! I hope you have a good time at home and don't miss me too much. The building with the two-coloured roof is the hotel I stay in. The Owner, Mrs. Mellberg is a real good cook and I fear to be fat after the week I'm gonna stay ;D
Yours, Kristian
Looks beautiful !!! is there a little picnic place ? :)
Nice village in the small island
Yup.. nice village on a nice island with nice flora!
Lovely little island &apls It reminds me of southern Finland's many small islands.
Save some of that delicious food for me ;)
Of course I will show you some more pics of the countryside, but at the moment, I'm building the main city of the Region, Jönköping:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F611ce675124639352b68a96d023b4006.jpg&hash=1a1179d3fc3dbdf43016c482aa37342c69f9d8fa) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
Too bad it's still unfinished and under construction, but I think you can see what it should look like once.
Great looking town &apls I especially love the harbor but there are a lot of nice details
I liked the used w2w
I like the combination of bildings. The main city looks nice :)
I say thank you for your comments! :)
So I have done quite a lot in Jönköping, that is the centre of the region.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F08fd0486828a4c01996b0077f4ad03ac.jpg&hash=5a11b56ddac7fe4dfefb4dcc63ddac1203527446) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
.1 we start with a picture of Stenplatsen, a very busy intersection that is used by many commuters.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F5c3d0c9c32c01ad47d0cf11ce0f6c778.jpg&hash=e3ebcddd8fb25734725e1045afedb3ca8b223b6d) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
.2 Månhättan ;D, the business district of the town
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F0f82bb0a554eab429cae8cc80e2eafd3.jpg&hash=fc5edf36a37572895cddbb9411f630aa3d7a66ea) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
.3 The Highway exit "Gamla Stan / Industriområdet"
I hope you liked it! :)
Månhättan :D
I like the highway in the last pic. So many over and underpasses. Very well done.
I's been a while now, but I was busy at school and couldn't play much. But as I was told to be in the OSITM in June, there will be some more updates :).Today's Teaser is of course not part of the OSITM-related activities.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F1b3d8445d7966f1201ebb7656fc5182b.jpg&hash=0ad10313807fdcd92dc8de7607ae8c6edbb85022) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
10.1 Jönköping under construction. At the moment I concentrate on the area in the upper right corner, a former independant town called Igelkottsälvstaden ;D (Tribute to one of the best MD's)
Nice city and small island you have made.
Great skandinavian city, but there skyscrapers are too high. ;)
Congratulations on this well-deserved month in the spotlight.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi901.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fac213%2FBSCLEX%2FSoderland6-12.jpg&hash=f71620f63c7a6e76ed31e347758813e48ac59bb0)
Igelkottsälvstaden huh? :D I love it, let's see more!!!
I like the variety of areas shown in the teaser, from highrises to detached houses and from old W2W to riverside industrial. The transit network and (of course) your MMPs and shoreline are awesome &apls &apls
The last update is very nice too, I especially like the plazas around the highrises.
Congratulations on a very well-deserved OSITM
@ nbvc: Thanks ;D
@Piterdaw: I don't think they are too high, This is not munich where they don't allow anything higher than the steeples of the Frauenkirche(Cathedral of our lady) :)
@Noah Thank you very much! I hope you are not too angry about me 'stealing' your ideas :). The Thing with the canals inspired me that much...
Update 11_OSITM.1
11.1 Let us visit Igelkottsälvstan with my first ever mosaik (sadly it doesn't allign perfectly), that starts on the sporväg bridge over a side stream of Igelkottsälven, goes over the main river and ends at 500m before the sporvägen becomes tunnelbanan again.

11.3...at the beach having fun ;)
I hope you liked it. Next update will be about the Highrise-district - if I don't rethink it ;D
Very nice. Glad to see that the OSITM lured you out of inactivity. ;)
Congratulations on your OSITM &apls
Congrats on OSITM
This style is quite unique
Congratulations on being selected for OSITM!
The mosaic looks lovely, the alignment issues are hardly noticable.
Congrats on getting into the OSITM!! And great first update!
Robin &apls
Congratulation on the OSITM, my friend!
Good to see Your RP here, and i like the new pictures. I see, You have Your own sidewalk now, looks good.

Special Update n°1
Update 12 OSITM.2
Sveriges Nationaldagen/ svenska flaggans dag-swedish national day/ Day of the swedish flag

celebration in Säter, a town in Söderland that we'll visit later on :)
Today, the swedish celebrate the election of King Gustav Vasa in 1523, as this is considered the foundation of modern Sweden. The 6th of june in 1523 marks the end of the danish ruled Kalmar Union and thus the indepedance of sweden.

Nowadays people often eat Smörgåstårta, a kind of sandwich-cake (looks tasty, doesn't it? ;D)
Until 2005, there was no real celebration of the national day as it was no workfree holiday. btw: one of the arguments for the holiday was to give immigrants a chance to celebrate their new citizenship :)
Fantastic MD, Flatron! I think it captures Scandinavia quite well, and I'd really like a close look on Jönköping, especially the villa/row house areas. Too bad we don't have any standardized greeting for the national day, but I wish you all a great 6th of June. :)
Also, if you don't mind me asking, where may I find the houses in this update? They'd fit my Swedish region perfectly!
@riiga: If you mean the wooden ones, i made them myself and you can find them on the stex, just type in swedish houses
(there may be a few errors sadly :( )
The suburbs of Jönköping are quite hmm... boring I think but I guess I can show them off.
I like so much your MD my friend, you've got a unique style building a city and I like it. This last update, the mix with Real pictures with Game pictures looks so good. The Square with all those flags and people is fantastic, Great job !!
PD: Congratulations for the deserved OSITM

Thank you! The suburbs I were referring to are the green-grey single home ones to the north east in this pic:

@kelis: Thank you very much, I like yours, too, but I mostly lurk because one can't always write things like "awsome" or "brilliant" ;D
@riiga: OK, parts of them don't exist anymore, but I can show you the rest I guess. btw. There are also nicer suburbs in Jönköping. :)
But tomorrow as I'm gonna watch "How I met your Mother" now
Brilliant job on the last couple updates &apls
The river looks especially great the way it goes through your city. Beaches, churches, and buildings are all very well selected and created. Also, lovely update for Sveriges Nationaldagen! I was actually in Sweden on the 6th, driving from Karesuando to Pello (not good roads that far north :/ ) and I wondered why there were so many Swedish flags! Unfortunately no Smörgåstårta for me $%Grinno$%
@all: Thank you!
Next up will be next weekend!
If sweden would have got into the quarter final, I would have done some football related update, but now we'll visit Forsnäs, an industrial town with lots of "commieblocks":

13.3 There is a tennis court at the estate, too(but as they forgot to build nets around it, the ball fetchers have quite a hard job ;D)

13.4 just a little traffic jam in the morning :)
I hope you liked the third chapter of my OSITM :)
Looks great &apls I always love commie blocks (well, not so much in real life, but they're nice in SC4). Great choice of BATs  if you want to give your tennis ball-catchers a break you could try the NUTs tennis courts on the LEX ;D
Looking forward to more
Great update again, i like the commieblocks and especially the city center! Wow, well done!
Greetz, Carl
Great update, and I can spot some use of my asphalt paths which are of course modeled after their real life counterparts here in Sweden. :)
The only thing missing would be parking lots, which there are quite a few of in commie block areas and near a typical suburb/city center.
Very nice :)
GNice work on this area. Like the blocks with the trees around :)
@all: Thank you very much for your comments. I don't love the blocks aswell, but the ones from the 20ties, as these ones are, are still nicer than the ones from the 60ties and 70ties....
@riiga: The only thing I don't like about sweden is the massive use of parking lots ;), but I have now added some :)
Update 14 OSITM.4
Today we return to Jönköpings hirise district, that has grown over time and is positively influenced by the presence of the local airport...

14.1 The new and modern business centre sets a contrast to turn-of-the-century-buildings across the street.

14.2 In the front you can see the headquarters of Hanseatisk-Söderlandiska BankensCompagnie (HSBC) and in the right half, you see the twin-towers of smörjfett-lambda, a famous paper producer ;D
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fdf34cc1d78e0bcaf653f3cd16998f3cf.jpg&hash=408a9c3ae8f48770ef0425c2b26c63f0bc93bebf) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
14.3 The green organic building is home to Jönköpingskuriren, a politically influential newspaper in Söderland.
I hope you liked it and have nice rest of the weekend..
Smörjfett-lambda $%Grinno$%
Ah, the famous Hanseatisk-Söderlandiska BankensCompagnie. $%Grinno$%
Sometimes you have to be creativ when the logos on a bat don't fit in your MD. Well done.
Excellent work again &apls You really do a nice job creating attractive city scenes. Is that "green" building one of Terring's simmars relots? It looks really good.
The count-down to the Best Sellers begins....

Great work. Nice city and waterfront.
Hej allihopa!

15.3: An overview of the lakes southern half.
By the way, I still need a name for the lake as I wasn't that creative today ;D
There is an Update focused on the town to be expected....
So I hope you liked it and say ciao ragazzi* ;D!
*for the not so smart guys: that's italian, not swedish ;D ;D ;D
I like so much this little island, very realistic !! Keep up the good work &apls
Great! Keep it up!
Looks great &apls I love the winding road, the town built almost into the rocks, and the nice little island. I'll avoid suggesting name since I just got one ;) Though if no one else does I certainly have an idea....
Ciao!
This was one really interesting MD to follow in the future, as I am swedish myself I have some reference to RL names and scenes, so I really mean it as a compliment.
Your wooden houses look great, I´ll head straight over to STEX to get them... :)
However I am curious as to what BATs You have used for the lower blocks in the Forsnäs update (the grey ones).
Keep up Your good work, it´s fantastic to see how popular and influential we Swedes seem to be (two swedishinspired MDs in the recents at the same time)...
//Fredrik
Thanks for the answer--I would never have guessed prepo :D
Great update with a lovely village, island, and country scene &apls
I love this Feeling, i read yet Astrid Lindgrin "Michel from Löneberga" :P

Now i finally found a way to build Jönköpings old town center. First I thought about some kind of 17th century-esque rectangular town, but this didn't reflect the historical importance I wanted the city to have... So I chose oddfromswedens great Stockholm set.
~~*~~~~*replies*~~~~*~~
@Kelis: Thank you very much! :)
@riiga: I'll try to do so :)
@noah: ^_^ thanks....
@Swesim: Well, I can only speak for myself, but Sweden is so fascinating for me and I also like your crime novelists. I especially liked the millenium trilogy :) The blocks I used are Chruschchowkas by Sfbt (can be found on the LEX)
@Dantes: That reminds of how much I used to love "Karlsson on the roof" when I was younger....(penthouse ;D)
Ahh, Karlsson vom Dach, Michel von Lönneberga, Pipi Langstrumpf, Wir Kinder aus Bullerbü ... my dad used to read those books to us before bedtime. I guess this is why 90% of my furniture is from ikea now. Very clever marketing strategy. $%Grinno$%
And I like your new picture, of course. :)
Only thing missing would be some ugly buildings from the 60s replacing half of the old town. :P

It seems like Astrid Lindgren (and other Swedish authors) are very popular in Germany. Any idea why that may be? Of course, she's popular here as well. My grandmother used to read Emil i Lönneberga for me.
I guess this is because many germans see sweden as the "better Germany", with your beautiful landscapes, the welfare state(and for some people: Snus ;D(personally I find it ugly, especially if girls take it... , but everybody as he/she wants))
Söderland by the way depicts a more idyllic version of sweden... ;D
Edit: Here's a new Overview:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F5bde18b38d5296158831d0abf2c8e301.jpg&hash=bfb8ec30e43225165065b9225e9b9cc20306a9e1) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
Love the contrast of the old and the new, especially the Ferris wheel next to the large office building.
Fantastic!
Great overview and great mosaic &apls
Great work on the overview and the previous update. &apls
It´s always nice to see an overview although I like detailed shots better.
Germany is very popular in Sweden when it comes to buying alcohol, we have organized trips with buses leaving Sweden every day packed with people who´s only purpose is to buy as much beer as they can possibly carry... :D
Astrid Lindgren´s success is likely because she writes in such a way that the children recognize themselves and the world they live in.
My personal favourite is Saltkråkan, but my daughter is more fond of Madicken and Bullerbyn...
@all: thank you very much for your comments! :)
@Swesim: it's interesting how they changed all the names to fit the german pronunciation: Saltkråkan is spelt Saltkrokan, Bullerbyn -> Bullerbü and Bråkmakargatan is called Krachmacherstraße...
Update to be expected tonight or tomorrow (it's 11:45 at the moment and I'm gonna go swimming and playing beach volleyball in the afternoon ;D )
Congrats for making it into The Best Sellers section.
From The SC4D Staff!!

17.3 The most expensive departmentstore in Söderland is Östers Varuhuset, where the cheapest item to buy is a cookie for 40 kronor(about 5€ )... ;D Some people go there and buy such a cookie, get a plastic bag of the ÖVH and are then proud of having one of them...
@all the lurkers: Thanks for visiting, please leave comments in the future ;)
Update18:Jönköping METRO
As Jönköping is a very prosperous city, it was soon (1930) decided that busses are not big-city-like enough and that a subway system had to be built to have a status symbol :) . Some stretches were built as regular tram by then as they didn't have the technology to build underwater tunnels by then. The newest line is röda linjen that connects the old town with the airport in the south of town and was built in the eighties.

Nice work on the last update, really well done. I like the way you have made your city.

It's all yours! :)
:thumbsup:Wow, Thank you very much riiga! I'm impressed :)
How will I ever be able to thank you in an apropriate way? This looks much more like a real life transit map than my bland version...
@art: Thank you! ;D'
I'll be on holiday the next two weeks and then school will start again(my last year (*wooohoo*) before university) and I'll have to finish a paper, do massive english homeworks (my teacher is a fan of essays) and hope to reach the mark that is required for studying pharmacy(currently 1.3 while medicine requires 1.0 (on a scale where 1(or 0.8 for people that don't own a life ;D) is best and 6 is worst))
I like your MD a lot - congratulations on being a Bestseller! I also like your transit map, and Riiga's reworking of it. I have a little bit of an obsession with transit maps, particularly those with circle lines. I'm also fascinated with different interpretations of the same system.
Here's my version of your system with the circle line drawn as a geometric circle.

Very nice looking region shot!
Somehow I have been neglecting one of my favorite MDs.
I really like the first picture from Östermalm. The second one reminds me of tetris! (Or one of those university projects that starts out looking cool, then weird, then out of date, then retro-cool again.)
The last picture is gorgeous. I love the simplicity of the tiny beach at the end of the street.
I just found out about this, and it's amazing! The region shot looks very realistic to me.

God Jul Söderland! Merry Christmas to all my american friends.
That tree looks a little bare though. :P
Thanks for your kind words. The tree is actually from our garden and as every year my dad tweaked it a little with glue etc(cutting out 50cm whithout any branch), which is kind of traditional in my area where most people used to be poor workers at the glassworks and nobody could afford a perfect tree.

I hope you like this trip to austria as I plan to extend it. ;D (atm. I don't enjoy Söderland :()
*no connection with real world Kornneuburg that goes further than that both cities are on the danube.
Ich mag Österreich!
The home to the incomparable Zotter chocolates! :D :D :D
Lovely city! &apls
Also great job with the BATs, I assume those will be released eventually. ::) :D
Keep it up!
Your trip to Austria is fantastic! Although I do miss Söderland a little bit while you were there.
Wow, interesting views. I really enjoy that square in the last image.
Cheers
Willy
Yeah, I didn't have too much time for SC4 in the last months(no trip to austria atm.), but now I'm back in Söderland. I have since installed a seasonal Tree-controller and therefore, we can't go back to Jönköping :(
Here's a teaser from our new point of attention: Jarlsån, a City of 55.000 in the West of Söderlands Län.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F7b79f1b9f9d6abc36458ebc115a812d4.jpg&hash=b45f3768dcb43646a596dfe4a56da4fd59b962a5) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
You can see the river Askån, literally ash river that runs along the old town with Västerköpings Domkyrka(belongs to svenska kyrkan) and the catholic church(at the market square)
Thanks for visiting :D
Nice city!
I'm a bit curious about how you decided on the name of the city though. It just so happens that my first city ever shown in an MD was called Västerköping.
@Riiga: The thing is, the City is in the western part of my region, I wanted to keep the köping thing and yeah, that's how I came up with that name. Funny thing is, that just in the moment I had saved the update, I remembered, that you had a Västerköping in Österköpingsregionen. If you want, I can of course change the name to something else. I don't want to plagiatize your ideas, but it's hard to invent placenames in a language I never learned at school. I'll think about it.
Aunt Edith wants to announce that I changed the name to Jarlsån.
It's fine. There are cities in real life that share a name. ;)
Update 22: The City of Jarlsån
Hej allihoppa! :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Ff884d17dcf495c9a380cfb79dc869620.jpg&hash=5f8c24e70a9396951cb2d5859238f0582b93f094) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
22.1 If you travel to Jarlsån by rail, you arrive at Jarlsån Centralstation, a great building in Funkis style. On the right you can see the famous hotel "Järnvägshotellet"(at the time they built it, Railway-hotel was a good name)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F5abbc970624554a0de4ee0f1e1cf0951.jpg&hash=4be67689542b9ed753dab14a7a40ee16ad9e4f4f) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
22.2 If you -on the other hand- come by car, and are travelling in south-north direction, the first important thing you see of Jarlsån (will be treated in the next update ;D) is not one of those office buildings but...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fd1116e438093a787208bcd2cbce4d71e.jpg&hash=3e4908c545ab0494c5643e9b80ce66e72b47da78) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
22.3 If you decide to stay on the E22, you'll bypass the town in the east and maybe gather the industrial estate behind the trees
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F158f38982344af47700f237ee24dc360.jpg&hash=647b6f8cf30ef33cd24550671f213a6dd84fe5e6) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
22.4 until you leave the bypass at the exit Jarlsån-Centrum where you see the IKEA-store at Drottnings Kurva (the queen's curve) where the Kings fiancée had a little accident with her bavarian sportscar in 1984.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F86dd63dd7772d2e57540d229026e6034.jpg&hash=f8dde5e6a0b374cd05d80f21a618db3aefe69d27) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
22.5 In the northern industrial estate, there's also tekniska högskolan, a university of applied sciences.
Thanks for visiting and please leave a comment
Greetings from snowy bavaria(I've been skiing on the mountain that's 23km from here this morning for the 42nd. time in this winter)
I always love the trips to your cities, particularly when the focus is transport.
Update 23: Trams(Spårväger)
Hej from Jarlsån.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Ff648d2b5bf3dcea301c2a80456b84515.png&hash=cdd5cb1789debdd0f01628ddd8a58549c16fc284) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
23.1 In Västermalm, a former working-class quarter, the central square is surrounded by tram-rails. In this picture, you can see that someone from the transport authority has lots of humour:D

23.2 In front of the railway station, the trams enter a tunnel that goes to the northern parts of Jarlsån.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fc013eace2764c70d7221692f68e74404.png&hash=0c6b8cc48eb1e25885af4b73d66dd50e2db884fb) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
23.3 Here, the tram crosses the river Askån between gamla staden and Västermalm.

23.4 The eastern industrial area is also reachable by tram.

@ benedict: I'm pleased to hear that you like my style. I try to build transit networks as I would like them as a passenger/citizen. This can sometimes result in big expanses, but if money doesn't matter... ;D
Nice recent updates! Pleasant city blocks and good use of the GLR!
Very nice tram system. I like the central square with the tram circle. On the second picture it looks like the tram is diving right into the river. It would look better if you would place the tunnel entrance a few tiles before the river crossing.
Nicely done. It has an authentic feel to it for sure. :satisfied:
Wonderful work on the tram line. I like how it just goes on the street, roads and avenues.
And indeed, that tramway driver is a little humorist one!
Update 24: Källhäll and AskesjönToday, we're going to have a look at Källhäll, a small village just north of Jarlsån, on the shore of Askesjön.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F7fcb2f5c945a9d676a92f1a3a8a81481.png&hash=ab5bf494dd92480b0f463b05e608c2dd67267aeb) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
24.1 coming from Jarlsån, your regional train will take the single track to the left to reach Källhäll, while highspeed-trains continue straight on and pass through a tunnel, leaving Källhäll aside.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F133a4d0f82a9a6f3d5e587625dea5475.png&hash=efbb72099a321ca2aec5cd20efe6166fcf1bdab5) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
24.2 you will exit the train at Källhälls little station and walk to the small village centre.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F39b7fee3252f9abd164332da9b6e977d.png&hash=eb31bb11d764b264c401e102a5735d85d8650dd5) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
24.3 on the way, you'll pass along the nice single-family houses that were built from the 20th century on, some as permanent residences, some as summer houses for stressed townsfolk.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2Fefb73d48acb2412e5b22188506267cfe.png&hash=1e1b3a61c1222a031f78f3c752723f77bd3244c4) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
24.4 and here it is, right at the outlet of the lake, Källhäll.
Thanks for visiting and please leave a comment. I'll try to respond.

Thank you. Yes, it's a traditional tram system, and only the stretch to the football stadium, which will be shown eventually is built on seperate tracks.
Small, simple and stunning. Thanks for the journey.
Update 25: Transit map
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F8baeac58cbdd3245def640fa1ce6c881.png&hash=6c126e167863ce1c93801ed20122928a692ab5bc) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
As you can see, only the rough destinations are mentioned in the map because most people who use the tram are locals who know where they are going and as it is an overground tram, tourists can see where the next stop is. This shall, combined with a free transit pass that every tourist in the region gets along with their accomodation, encourage hopping on and off trains if something interesting catches their eye...
@benedict: thank you
Great work with your last updates. The road along the river looks nice.
Nice map though as a tourist unfamiliar with the route and thus what comes next, I'd actually do like to know each stop beforehand! Unless Tourist Services has located 'you are here' maps at each station. Point being I like to read maps. :D The free transit pass makes up for it though, at least I can get lost without worry about zones and stuff. :satisfied:
Källhäll is a nice little village and reminded me the small houses you used. Gotta look those up too, I know they're somewhere. ::)
Keep it up!
Look this is a fantastic MD and if Im not mistaken those are BATs I assume are made by you as I have seen them nowhere else before. I would love it if you could carry on with this and maybe release these wonderful buildings. Especially the austrian ones.
Hej Allihopa, Here I am again :)
I'm sorry for not updating in the last few months, but RL kept me busy, first the exams, then holidays ;). Now I was not admitted to med school(not even in austria, but maybe I should have trained more for their admission test... :( ) and will have to spend minimum 6 months at home, doing nothing. OK, I'll do an internship at the local hospital, but yeah... So now I've got time for SC4 again.

This is an overview of the City of Ålesund, located in Norway. As you see, it doesn't have much in common with the real Ålesund, (mostly because there are simply no Jugendstil bats available and I'm a total noob in modelling Ornaments ;) ) The next Updates will focus here.
The mosaic does't work like it should because I took the fotos in the wrong positions, sorry :)
____________
Thanks at all.
@agunter and vortext: The old swedish houses were a tad overscaled and I didn't like them anymore, so I made new ones, however these are not ready to be released yet, and have some strange habits(Commercials not really growing, etc.)
If I squint my eyes the mosaic still is very nice! :D
Too bad you weren't admitted to med school. On the bright side, plenty of time to practice modelling ornaments! ;D
Looking forward to the next update!
Sad to hear about med school, but wonderful pictures!
Hurray, thankyou for this, it is truely spectacular
Update 26
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F446cf474c6320d5d78b2e1bdf3b13c5f.jpg&hash=fd44de3e8d0aab70f4e8b53231519975fc329e31) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
26.1 The old town, gamle byen is situated on the eastern face of a hilly island called byø and consist of charming old wooden buildings from various epoches, the oldest having been built in 1323. The church, Domkirken, is much younger though and was only built in 1878 when the old wooden one burnt down on december 24th. because the pastor forgot to blow out the candles after the christmas service.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F3d71fa07c5d9e8e1c4fd8d4254aef71e.jpg&hash=e8d413b98f764d31565b346b34a08b75e308b3d0) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
26.2 Once upon a time, the sund between the islands used to be a crowded harbour with fishermen and merchants and housewifes on the run for the best fish, but nowadays it is used as a marina for the wealthy and the ones who pretend to be (about every second household owns a boat ;)). The wobbly green building houses the architectural collective SVEN, whereas the classy, flat iron shaped house across the port is home to the old and respected sailing club of Ålesund that hosts a great and pompous ball once a year that is even broadcasted on national TV.
----------------------------
answer:
Thanks for your comments. I am pleased to hear that you liked it, even though the mosaic was a bit dysfunctional.
The next update will most propably focus on the suburbs of Ålesund.
Great pictures! I like the marina. :D
Nice island. &apls
Very nice
Two very nice pictures! Nice hillside work on the first one.
Glad to see you back with new stuff :D
Update 27: Ålesund Suburbs
Hei, today we visit Farøyhamn, a former fisherman's village that grew into a suburb of Ålesund and was incorporated in the municipality Ålesund-Auster in 1984.

27.1 Some the old industrial buildings were transformed to shops and apartments.

27.2 The biggest hotel in town is called Farøy Hotellet and was constructed on the grounds of an old fish factory.

27.4 a typical low density area :)
Thanks for your appreciation ;)
Fantastic! Looks stunningly similar to Norway.
Looks great, nice panorama!
Though maybe use some farr pieces to break up the diagonal stretch of rhw. There's still room for it and it would make it more interesting imho.
The sidewalk is awesome btw, is it your own creation?
Awesome work on this update. The way you made the low density area is really Norwegian. Looks like when i was in Oslo.
Vortex is right, the sidewalk is out of this world
Nice suburbs and general view.
Beautiful town. I do think in the overview it does resemble Alesund a little bit. But I have only seen it from up on a hill. Never actually made it there. ;)

Thanks, It would have been tricky to build it with FARR and FARHW because the terrain is tricky and I even bulldozed the whole thing several times just to be able to build the station in a way that looks a little bit good.
The sidewalk is not my own creation, it is called cobbled stoned and can be found here: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26431-cobbled-stoned-hd-sidewalk-mod/ (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26431-cobbled-stoned-hd-sidewalk-mod/)

Where did you find those buildings (the reddish ones that are wall2wall or did you make them yourself? I've long been trying to design a scandinavian like city, but the main buildings lack, and I'm not skilled in using 3d design programs. No idea how to make my own bats.
While Flatron did make his own houses, the one you're after is Hamburg Neustadt by stephenhh (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2318).
