Challenge 3

Mayor Metarvo sat down in his office chair, and hung his head low.  "Why did this have to happen to me?" he said to himself.  A rebel group called the Separatists had grown tired of the development.  They didn't like all of these farms for some reason, and they utterly despised the coal power plant, arguing that the Mayor should have went with wind power instead.  The Governor said that nothing could be done, and that the Mayor would have to choose one side of the river to develop, allowing the Separatists to have the other.  The Mayor was none too pleased, and was not about to just give up a power plant and water facility to those troublemakers, so he decided to keep the north side of the river.

Immediately, a new route was built, numbered as Secondary Road 53 and extending to the northern border of Tile B.  The Separatists tore up the railroad ties just before the south side of the bridge, and the northern residents did the same to their side of the bridge just to get even.  The break can be seen on this map.

All of this happened when quiet little Bordertown had begun to grow.  The general stores had been replaced with more modern commercial buildings.  Two traffic lights were built in the town, both along S-53, the new road.

Finally, the residents of Bordertown have something to take their mind off those Separatists.  A movie night at the local drive-in goes a long way.

The Mayor built a police station here before the split, but lost control of it when the Separatists took over.  This is the Route 10 bridge, the last remaining bridge over the Grand River that is still functional.

Farms had begun to develop on Tile B, even before the disagreement between the North and the South.  S-53 was built with the farmers in mind, and it also provides access to the northern border of Tile B.  CSX built a new farm supply store in the area since the old one was unfortunately in the south.

Before the trouble started, the first roads had been laid out for future landowners in Tile F, just to the east of Bordertown.  This railroad crossing is sometimes called "Death Corner" because of its unusual geometry, and is enough to strike fear into almost anyone who crosses it, even the locals.

This is the southern end of the I.L.R.R. bridge that was rendered non-functional after the Separatists moved to the South.  The northern end has been dismantled in a similar manner.
Find my power line BAT thread here.
Check out the Noro Cooperative.  What are you waiting for?  It even has electricity.

Thank you for your update.

We have now taken note and copied the pictures of your challenge 3, it will be judged after the deadline.
Now you can do whatever you wish to do within your regionhalf only, but make sure not to overbuild it comparing to the rest of the region. It might give you some serious problems later on.
You do NOT have the right to touch anything of the part that belongs to the Separatists.

Challenge 4 will be partially given by your adversary and you will give a challenge to someone else. Who will be challenging who and the matter of the challenge will be discussed in the Challenge 4 thread once everyone has turned in their part of this challenge.

Are you ready to be told what to do by a Separatist and a Governor? Good luck and we hope you enjoyed this one.

Challenges are getting harder to do, so does the judging, and we soon need more time to judge the challenges. I know this took awhile but we have been working on it for quite awhile and since our judging is being done separately, we have to bring them together before presenting the final results. Thank you for being patient. So here they are.

A.  Route 53 only covered 1 new tile, although several tiles in the northeast stay still uncovered by a federal route. Only being satisfactory we gave you 3 points for the route challenge.
B.  The cutoffs are simple and not much effort was made for the railbridge blocage to make it look better, but we gave you yet 4 points for the cutoffs challenge because of some details added to other places.
C.  The region is slowly growing and starting to look good. The village starting to look good and we liked the wooden powerlines for the countryside, well done. We gave you a solid 4 points for the regional works challenge.

A Total of 11 Points were added to your challenge.

You could add some more trees at certain places when taking pictures, which would make them more real looking and aestethically nicer. Good story. Have luck with your separatists now.
