I am currently working on some BATs and Lots for this challenge, but I'll make sure to post it before next weekend.

I finally was able to post my Challenge 6.
I had a lot of fun doing this challenge, it was quite interesting and relaxing to me to create a beach, Hotel and Restaurant in a place which I thought suitable. With a lot of thoughts and a lot of going through the LEX, Plex and Stex, and also elsewhere too numerous to mention, I was able to find what I wanted. I didn't have time though to finish the BATs that were intended for this challenge. They will find the way to my CJ/MD one day anyways, I guess.

High-luxury is seen differently with each one of us. We all have a different view of things anyways. Some of us think that luxury needs to be like the lives of a rich Playboy himself, or being treated as a king or Prince in a far away country, or just like someone that takes simplicity as a luxury. No real definition to it. It can be so different from one to another, all depending on each of us.

I myself am irl very simple, I like wild beaches, so does Lynn, simple and small  but excellent restaurants with only one cook in the back (love eating) but I need a comfortable clean bed with excellent service for a hotel or Motel. Lynn and I are a little fancy about this. So, I created a place in GRV that I myself would like to spend my vacation in. All what was asked for in Challenge 6 can be found in one tile only, tile K. And even if you look closer, all is on that little island, that I called *Pearl Island*.

Let's start with the picture of my mainborderline, somewhat renewed and now fully working as a permanent entrance to both north and south.

Since the demand for a view 2 picture of every demand is in my case Since the demand inan abilty to see all in one picture, I will not repeat it for the others. So, here is the overall View 2 for the Hotel, Restaurant and the Beach.

Here are two pics of the beach that I created for the Challenge. Clean with fine beige coloured sand and all the services one can imagine. All possibile beach-activities are available here.

Like I mentioned before, I like smaller more countrystyle and personal restaurants better than very fancy ones that don't serve *real* food. I like to eat a good plate of fresh seafoods or an excellent 16 onces Angus or Highland T-Bone steak cooked on a grill to perfection.
Here at this Pub or as we call it here in Québec, "Brasserie", you can have it all and drink it down with a real cold beer from a wooden barrel.
This is the place to eat the best food around in a very sympathic and athmospheric environment.

An overlook of my vacation paradise with the Hotel, Motel, beach, restaurant and all the other touristic store attractions in a small town. Everything is available here to spend a few days of relaxation, fun , adventure and all being acompanied with excellent food and a comfortable bed. One can hike the forest in the middle of the island, see the remains of an old church, read the names of the dead in the century old cemetary, take a biketour of the island, or even a helicopter to see everything from above. Why not rent a boat and see the whole coast or sail out to sea for the day. You can eat, sleep, sing, dance and play and so much more to do, that a week is not enough to live it out. Welcome to Pearl Island.

Here is the Hotel that the Governor will stay (in my region) with all his mayors. Five star hotel with all the services, including private beach, golfcourse and a hikingtrail around the hill in the backyard. It is just a short walk to the Casino and to an exotic Bar on the beach.

.......and finally the regionview not altered or modified with paint as it is today. It has a population of 63,823 at this moment.

Thanks for commenting. Hoping you all will like my vacation island, because you all will be the judges and maybe the ones to spend a week with the Governor and his wife......

Nice update, Fred.

I like the activities you placed on the beach (shuffle board, kayaking, and a catamaran). Exactly the type of beach you'd find at one of those all inclusive resorts. I looked at the casino myself. But a Myrtle Beach sort of atmosphere was what my mind's eye saw when I put my challenge together.

Too bad you didn't have time for the bats. Those things (depending on the complexity) can take time to do correctly. That's not to say that sorting through the Plex, LEX, STEX doesn't take time either. Those things do too. You've got my interest piqued though.

Thanks Jim, I started BATting my favourite Restaurant in my area, but never really had the time to finish it for the challenge. I designed this building myself (irl) in the early nineties and also supervised its construction in 1994. This is about the best place with the best food one can have in the eastern part of Quebec/Canada, which is quite close to the US border of Vermont at the beginning of the Appalachians. But I will finish this BAT as soon as I can (among dozens of others...lol) and have it converted as a Growable $$$ Com Service by BarbyW.

Have a look:  http://www.auberge-appalaches.com/en/

I also started making some beachprops, and again time wasn't on my side to have them finished for this challenge. Maybe next time.... ;)

BTW, you're right, looking for the perfect BAT to fit in for a Challenge can take time, I spent several days, well evenings that is, trying to find the ideal restaurant and beachprops. Luckily the hotel was just uploaded a few days ago on the Capitalsim.net site.

Fantastic update.

The Brasserie must be doing well for itself ;) Business must be good if they can repave the lot overnight :D
And a one hole Golf course ()what(), Don't think I'd like to walk along side just in case a shot goes wild $%Grinno$%

Also I'd like to spend a day on the beach - looks like a nice place to be

The border crossing looks great. Very much like it would between nations, but the texture difference between the road and the lot seems like it could have transitioned better. The turn lane seems to appear from nowhere. 4 points.

I like the beach, it blends into the terrain nicely and does seem to have a touch of everything. 5 points.

The restaurant/town idea is nice, but the restaurant you chose to highlight has a fence just blocking its view of the beach, along with a parking lot... The flora plopped around the edges really breaks up the transition to the beach too. Minus the fence and cars, this would have been a 5, as it is though, I give it a solid 3.

The hotel is nicely done. The single hole golf course is something I've seen before and is a good detail, but the lack of fence is a bit worrisome. Also, for a hotel of that size, I expected a larger parking lot. 4 points though.

Total: 16 points

Well as requested by the governor, time for me to make some friends and lose some  :D (oops you are the governor  :) )

1. Bordercrossing: Very modern but the road transition isn't the best: 4pts

2. Beach: Looks good, whitish sand and blue water. 4pts

3. Hotel: Nice building but I think the overall lot doesn't lend to a 5 star resort. 3pts

4. Restuarant: No problem with your choice of menu, makes my mouth water. But if I had a restuarant/pub in such a prime position I'd be taking advantage of the beach and not fencing it off. 3pts

TOTAL 14pts

Hi Fred,
here's my opinion on your Ch. 6:

1. Bordercrossing: I like the chosen BAT very much. seems like the road is a part of this bat. So you have no choice on that texture. 4 Pts.
2. Beach: I like the variety of possible places to lie on. The only, and really, disturbing thing is the ships, that can go that near. 3 Pts.
3. Hotel: Great choice, the only bad thing is, that it seems to be 180° wrong. There's no entrance next to the parking spaces. So the guests have to go to the backyard, that's not really reachable. 4 Pts.
4. Restaurant: 4 Pts. You missed one because of the parking spaces instead of tables in the backyard.

That's a total of 15 Points.

Hello Fred

Here's my judgement:

1. Bordercrossing: Excellent bordercrossing. That bat looks fantastic for the purpose. If you haven't already, you should release it. only small drawbacks are lack of fences and the turning lane. 4 points

2. Beach: beautifully done, lots of activities, but apparently a yacht has stranded there. 4 points

3. Hotel: I'm not really a fan of the bat you've chosen or the lot it's on. However, it fits really well. 3 points

4. Restaurant: I like commercial street. Good with a number of choices. atmospheric restaurant. 4 points.

This gives a total of 15 points

Hi Fred

My marks:
1. Border crossing - I can't see a lot of security 4pts
2. Beach - nice looking beach but why is there a fountain and a clock in the sand? 3 pts
3. Hotel - not much in the way of landscaped grounds and the golf course is very difficult to access and dangerous to passersby. 4pts
4. Restaurant - nice building but don't like the wall that goes to one side. 3pts

Total points - 14

Here are my points

Border crossing - 4 - It's the three bears of border crossings. Not too hot not too cold.

Beach - 5 - Perfect beach - Plenty of family things to do.

Hotel - 5 - This I think is the best of all choices for a hotel. I like casino's after a day of surf watching. The island looks like a great resort complete with nearby shopping for sim women who may wish to take home some jewelry as a memento of a restful trip.

Restaurant - 4 - The restaurant looks like a small pub - my kind of place to eat.

Total - 18
