So far I'm finding this Cleanitol the best thing since slice bread. But do you need to keep "All" the Cleanitol files that come with the downloads because I got a ton of them?.Thanx

RippleJet

Actually you don't need to keep them, once you've run the Cleanitol with them and seen that you're up-to-date.
And if you'd ever need to rerun a Cleanitol check for a particular download, you'd still have the TXT file inside the ZIP archive (which I suppose you are saving).

I'm having the same problem as "imaplaybaby" when I try to open Cleanitol.  This is the error from the log:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "BSC Cleanitol TM.py", line 2, in ?
  File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 82, in load_module
  File "wx\__init__.pyo", line 45, in ?
  File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 82, in load_module
  File "wx\_core.pyo", line 4, in ?
  File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 98, in load_module
ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading wx\_core_.pyd

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Such an error (ie ImportError : MemoryLoadLibrary ... ) indicates that you're probably missing one of required dll which are indicated in the readme

New Horizons Productions

M4346 ♦ moganite ♦ Papab2000 ♦ Shadow Assassin ♦ Tarkus ♦ wouanagaine
Divide wouanagaine by zero and you will in fact get one...one bad-ass that is - Alek King of SC4

Ok, so I have fixed my computer issue (I now have everything partitioned and loaded correctly), cleanitol and sc4 are loaded on my c drive, but I am still getting the same error.  I checked for a readme file for the cleanitol and I can't find one. Did it come with the download or is it in another location?  Shouldn't the dll have come with the download?  Sorry to be such a pia, but I really want to get this operating correctly.  I dont want to get booted for excessive downloading (I am up to nine times with the cleanitol).  Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
imaplaybaby

I'm having the same problem as wild_horse_in_the_sky.
I have downloaded this file three times from the download area here and  installed the program over and over and get the same error.
Please help

I have the same error as some people above:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "BSC Cleanitol TM.py", line 2, in ?
  File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 82, in load_module
  File "wx\__init__.pyo", line 45, in ?
  File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 82, in load_module
  File "wx\_core.pyo", line 4, in ?
  File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 98, in load_module
ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading wx\_core_.pyd

I also can't find a readme in the zip file, the install directory or on the LEX. So I have no idea what DLL I should be missing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wouanagaine has been gone for too long. He doesn't even know he never made a readme. :D

Those missing DLL files are linked to in this post though. ;)

Okay, thanks for the fast reply :). Atleast now I can try to make some sense of all the stuff I have to install for CAMelot.

And my apologies for not reading the entire thread :s.

imaplaybaby

Many thanks, I now have the necessary dll and I am back in business!

thank again

Just a note to reply to the comment about Cleanitol having to be installed to a specific hard drive/folder location.

I am a programmer, and this is utter nonsense. The author already stated in an earlier post that Cleanitol can find the SC4 installation folder by querying the registry and reading the information fom there. This is the correct way to handle installation, by writing a custom registry entry with the information so it is available to all programs that might need this information, *not* hard-coding values that will vary from user's computer to computer.

The old fears pre-Win2000 about registry bloat and the problems of it growing past a certain size have now been proved to be false with all recent MS OSes and there should be no fear of using the registry correctly to provide critical global information like this. This is not a criticism of the program's function or its author, but this "feature" of the UI lets it down and makes it harder for those of us with non-standard Windows installations to install where we *need* the files to go.

If the issue is merely to assist the running of undo batch files by hard-coding the location into those, then that's a short-sighted implementation which would be better served by having an undo function in the program itself which ran from text scripts. Batch files are extremely old technology and while powerful are dangerous and even more user-unfriendly, so I'm astonished at this solution. An undo script file in text could also be easily used by someone manually in the worst case, allowing the best of all worlds.

Do I need to say again that this is not a criticism of the author? Just feedback from someone who also writes software and understands how these things should be done in a more modern way...

Any Ideas?

Panza105, you are missing the same DLL files that were discussed a few posts above yours.

They are linked to in this post.

onionofdeath

I can't seem to find the download link on the cleanitol page...how can i download it?

RippleJet

You need to register separately for the BSC LEX.
Once your LEX account has been activated, search for creator Wouanagaine.

Salut wouanagaine!

Felicitation a cet outil merveilleux...
une petite question...
I'd better ask in english so other people could understand
I have just downloaded your tool and I already have the two .dll files in my system 32. But still i get this error message:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "BSC Cleanitol TM.py", line 467, in OnReport
File "BSC Cleanitol TM.py", line 104, in locate
File "BSC Cleanitol TM.py", line 440, in Log
File "wx\_controls.pyo", line 1804, in AppendText
UnicodeDecodeError: 'cp950' codec can't decode bytes in position 1-2: illegal multibyte sequence

I'm using Windows vista and my simcity is installed at c:\simcity4 and all the plug in files are in the c:\simcity4\plugin folder.
Please can you tell me what to do to solve this problem?

Merci beaucoup!!   :)

BarbyW

Which Cleanitol file were you trying to use? Can you attach  it here please?

Does Cleanitol work with macs?

I am a happy camper with Cleanitol (HI WOU!!! ) ...

My complaint is a very small one, BUT (haha.. u knew that was coming, eh?)

I use the program fairly often and it works great (as long as the author has provided a txt file of course.. hehe  :'( )..

What I'd like is either a trick or a "shortcut property modification" that would allow me to put a default directory into the (...) window.. I normally unpack my zips to a "working directory" and it is a pain in the tush to have to redirect the (...) window every time.. I'd like it to open to my working directory instead..
