SC4 becomes outdated... And maybe CXL is not the dreamed successor for SC4... So, why don't we create ourselves this longed-for successor?
It's our crazy project, the challenge we dream to take up!
Here are the headlines of this project:
1st part - The basis- More realistic transports. Increased realism for routes: curves, several roads width (from alley to highway), ability to build roads under bridges, a lot of means of transportation (airplane, ferry, and real routes for train, bus, subway and tramway).
- Total freedom for buildings and maximal custromization . Buildings on ordinary-shaped plots and possibility to customize with decor elements.
- New game experience. No isometric 3D but "real" 3D.
2nd part - Once the basis will be finished...
- Multiplayer mode available. But not the same as CXL: we would have a world, with continents, and each one would contain several countries. In a country we would find a political organisation, chosen by the players, with a chief of state and its ministers, these people are real players who would have wanted to hold these posts: they have been elected by the whole players of a same country ! This country would be divided in regions then in various administratives subdivisions...
- Total freedom : nothing is set! In each administratives subdivisions, we would have metropolis, cities, villages and hamlets... each one being leaded by one player who will choose what kind of city he wants to develop!
- A management which allows to progress in the game. At the base of, a country would be blank and each palyer will choose the site of his city, a plot will be given to him, delimitting the town in which he will be able to build. If the mayor correctly manages his city, he will earn money or contrarily loose money. With this one, he will be able to buy new lots to create other towns.
This project is colossal, but it seems to us really interesting! Consequently, we will need of all the good wills, even if it's just for a little helping hand ;)

I suggest looking into one of the already existing projects as they have similar goals to yours.
