Hi everyone, welcome to my Barroco Hispano BAT thread.
2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600:
Hello alejogc13 and welcome to SC4D! This one and Australia's PM's BMW look very nice! keep it up :)
I've seen some of your creations over at Simtropolis. Looks neat! I will probably use some of your model if they fit my region settings.
Very nice indeed!

Nice looking Carrier. Keep up the good work.

2019 Mercedes Benz G550:
Oh, nice really nice! :)
I saw your "abandoned' fishing bout prop over at Simtropolis. I really love that and I think if you would fill that way that would be great if you would make more colour variations of that. I could give them a good use with my once upcoming Seaport lots.
These car props of yours are really awesome! :) Very beautiful props!
Thanks for making them.

2019 Mercedes Maybach S650:
What cars would you like to see in the game?
1968 or 1969 Mustang!
Ok, it's not car, but I would like to see some HD quality chopper (Harley), and other motorbikes, sport motors, if it's possible some people prop for them, people with helmet and motorbike suit.
Cars: Yellow Hummer, Land Rover LR4 (2016 f.e.), Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW i8, Tesla Model X, Maserati Levante, Mercedes-Benz GLS GLS450. Multiple colour variations for each car types, if it's possible, may be diagonal version too, if it's not too much work ;) :)
Thanks in advance! :)

These look excellent! Are they intended as props or automata?
The USS Enterprise looks absolutely superb. Are you planned additional naval ships at all? If I could tempt you with the HMS Queen Elizabeth carrier and Type 45 Destroyer I'd sure many would be appreciative
In regard to cars, perhaps BMW i3 and a few Jaguar models... :)

^^
I'm not sure what the problem is but I'm sure someone with more knowledge of these things could assist you. Be a shame to see these linger on your HDD and not benefit from being used in-game.
Definitely agree with belfastsocrates...these beauties are crying out to be set free ;D
To explain what you are seeing:
- When you make your 3D Model, the game pastes the image onto a box and the box is what is used in game. This means that you have a semi 3d experience without the lag of true 3d)
- In addition to pasting the image onto a box, the single image on each plane is further cut up into FSH files, which are effectively stitched together to represent your model at each zoom and rotation (and everytime you change this)
- Depending on the size of the model, you can have dozens of FSH files or hundreds and the game must stitch these together to make your image appear on the box that the game uses; sometimes these can appear misaligned depending on the zoom/rotation/program. But it isn't your model at fault it's just they way the game is putting the FSH files together. It can vary from machine to machine: some models can display all sorts of issues on one players version of the game, but be perfect on another; it is also dependent on graphics cards in use
- The Lot editor uses similar graphics to the game, but because of the absence of visual background stuff to distract you, any FSH misalignment often appears worse
I would suggest testing in game, but it certainly isn't the fault of the models/modelling and no one will complain as most people are aware of the graphical issues with this old game.
I'm trying to create some brushes :D
Looking darn good. I love brushes, can't do them myself.......New ones are always welcomed!

Hi , :)
You aren't very talkative , to say the least $%Grinno$% , no more at Simtro. than here so , finally , rather intriguing ;D ... that said , works presented here are terrific , I'm captivated . &apls &apls &apls
Speaking about vehicles , I'm pretty sure you know my attempt to make the community adopt a new standard for automata ( so for vehicles props ) , that's not won would I say , and , in any case it won't happen on the next week , but just in case , I would invite you to make a 130% rendered version for all these gems ... of course , that's possible to use SC4ModelTweaker for HD props like yours but I'm pretty sure the rendering process is a lot preferable to preserve their quality . Thanks for considering my suggestion ...
Here and now your first k-point :
Cheers .

2016 Toyota Camry:

Mercedes Benz 770K:
I saw an original Mercedes 770k, also known as 150W, in Sinsheim (https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en/) and somewhere I read lately Adolf Hitler's own 770k was sold for 7 million dollars somewhere in the United States. It's a very impressive car and this is a really excellent model but hopefully never ever wants to have it for U-drive as a major.
For easier use it's indeed a good idear to name files/models systematically.
First could be the creators name "ale" or "aj", don't know. Second the type of prop.
On the system you showed there is the general problem of elements that can fit in two categories like Mini and Hatchback f.e.
I think you can keep it simpler:
- compact car (cc)
- sedan (sd)
- SUV (sv)
- sports car (sp)
- Van (vn)
- truck (tr)
- bus (bs)
- motorcycle (mc)
maybe
- convertibles (cv)
Then the manufacturer and the model, so file name could be:
"ale_car_sv_audi_Q5" or "ale_car_sd_audi_A4" and "ale_car_cc_audiA1
Just an idea.
Cars, me, personally I'd like to see on the streets of SC4:
Alfa Romeo C8 Competizione
Austin Healey M300 or BMW 597 or Ferrari 250 California Spider or Triumph TR250
DeTomaso Mangusta
Lancia Flaminia or Lancia Aurelia
Maserati Granturismo
Mercedes Benz CLS Shooting Brake
Volvo XC40 or XC60
I personally think there is especially a lack of italian and british cars in SC4.
Thanky you for this great work.

Guys: What angles do you recommend for my cars?Choose only 4 angles.
0°, 45°, 22,5° & 30°
I agree with Matias. The only angles I find "useful" for the game are straight (0°), diagonal (45°) and FAR (22.5° and 30°).. Other angles are cool and all but really only suit the game for a tiny few situation.
Absolutely nice models btw. Very interested in those large ships you're doing. BTW when you render them and test them ingame, would it be possible to let us know if they appear "in" the water or above it? And what settings you used for them to appear in.
Yes, Matias and art128 are right. Imho.
thanks for your suggestions :D
The difference between 22,5° and 30° is very small ???.

Hm. Yes. &Thk/( I'm not shure if 30° is really needed? Most batters do 0 - 22,5 - 45 - so only three variants.
Im not shure about the FAR-angles - aren't they FA-3 (18.4/71.6 degrees), and FA-2 (26.6/63.4 degrees)?
http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Fractional_Angle (http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Fractional_Angle) ()what()
Sorry, someone else have to give a proper answer if 30° is really needed. &ops
[EDIT]
Degree? What is degree?
I said 30° thinking on triangles, and the fact that most angular parking lots are normed at 45°, 30° or 60°. In any case, the game doesn't have to work in line with real-life regulations...
This picture posted by MushyMushy (I believe) should be of great help:
Fantozzi is correct re: FAR angles. If you make, say, an 18.4° then you will also need the mirrored version
Edit: 22.5° is an approximate of the game's viewing angle. Things rendered this way will appear straight-on :)
You're right, I'm dumb.
I even knew that since I created a while back some car models for these angles. Oh well.

Yes, and with women too :-) In badass black leather pants and jacket.
So I perused your pages here, going from wow to wow, and then I jumped around trying to find more stuff from you to download (especially those yacht and naval ships and peeps) and... well, not much to be found. I already had the few you uploaded (the ones on the STEX). Despair ! Frustration ! Are you ever going to upload any of your other creations, you tease ?
I can't see anything weird on the 488 - maybe on the rear because the rear window seems to sink into the quite big "tushy" of the car. Or maybe to bring out the rear spoiler a bit?
But I guess, it's simply because we rarely see this car from this perspective and when looking from the side the flanks cover the quite long rear window partially.
Or let's compare:
This is Ferrari Enzo:
Anf this is Ferrari 488 GTB:
So the rear window is loooong and leaves an extremely short back when looking from above.

One of the most interesting terms of mankind is "public". You know, animals don't have private and public, they have nature. If you think about, it's money that makes the difference here. How people have to defend property from public. If there was no property there was no difference between public and private, I guess.
The same IK guess, this is much more "Goldman Sachs" than a Renault Zoé.

I'd like to suggest doing a Cristiano Ronaldo prop standing in front of one of the luxury cars and giving autographs to a bunch of ecited children.
We need more celebrities in SC4. When I was doing my farm stuff I dreamt of of a Gerhard Depardieu prop lying drunk in the vineyards.

You guys think that these 4 angles are necessary for sims?
I would guess Sims are like trees - they don't care much about angles. So even if you do 4 different angles - at the end they have all the same angles and may look repetitive when used together.
Basically it's enough to make one version for each prop - but each Sim should have it's own angle (something in between -90 and 90). They should all look in the direction of one "hemisphere": or they look all north or they look all south. That's for creating prop families. But they shouldn't have fixed angles like the cars. They should have individual angles. Imho.
These will make a nice addition to the game!

If you look at this tree that I have circled, you can see the tree trunk shadow that runs along the circular planter and then changes angles along the ground when the tree trunk shadow is rendered onto the pavement by the game.
Maxis stuff is the same...I guess it is one of those things we have to live with &ops

Maxis stuff is the same...I guess it is one of those things we have to live with &ops
Actually it's pretty easy, it doesn't take more than 40 seconds to solve it :)
Yes, absolutely, you can create a shadow mod (or alter an existing one) to change the game's sun angle, but that won't change the already rendered shadows that bat elements cast on themselves, such as HVACs on flat roofs, etc, which is what I meant by "one of those things we have to live with"
I'm trying to get a realistic material :-[
------
I use either one of the Maxis materials extracted from the reader or just a procedural green
Ground texture = Maxis grass at 16mx16m (it also works on foliage) and the leaves are just a desaturated olive-green
I definitely need a new pc...
Maybe simplifiying the leaves' shape would help? I guess that a flat square or triangle would look just as well from the scale we can see on the game,
Wow! Cool work with the alphas, the improvement is really noticeable!
Also, is that church your first building model? Congrats in any case, it looks beautiful!
Hm. Seems everything you touch becomes sharp as a razor. Often trees look quite flat, not deep, especially the original maxis. But your trees f.e. have excellent depth, razor sharp shadows.

I am amazed by the texturing and modeling skills on these boat models.
They are for me the most complex objects to do properly in 3D and you are doing them so well.
Definitively, crew is necessary, it gives life to the model and I think characters are often forgotten by modelers. You can remove the crew from night views, even more realist ::)

I agree with seraf, your old cars are gorgeous :satisfied: I used to like them as a child because I somehow inherited from my father's and uncle's child books about cars, and from these and some of the toys of that time, the ones from the 1910's to the 1940's seemed hugely popular when they were children (in the 70's) for some reason.
(Maybe I'm projecting their child/teen preferences as some sort of trend though, but when I was a child the cars that were common as - more expensive - toys were the ones from the 50s to the 70s... so it might really be a trend because the industry was trying to target older people and did that continuously. AND sorry for the huge digression :D).

I like these rocks, it's a long time that we did not get a proper pack of MM HD rocks for landscaping.
As for your motivation goes, take a break or think about uploading what you already modelled. It's a long and difficult job but people would love utilizing your props especially the card, it would be pity if they never see the game ::)
... well , not surprising after so much work. &apls &apls &apls The problem is that when that kind of thing starts to happen , it quickly becomes regular ... maybe is it the proper time to release some of your stuff ( if you need someone to Mod cars MMPs , I would be pleased to be your man! ;D - I've Modded most of the VIP Team MMPs ... :) ) before to start any other project . In any case , that's already great to make us dream in front of your jewels , in a way keeping alive our hunger for the game . :satisfied:
Wish you the best decision .
Cédric.
I agree with Antoine and Cedric, It is inevitable that you will get unmotivated after making so much model, specially since people don't often comment all the time when you posts (I'm myself guilty of that).
I suppose, like Cedric said, releasing a few will take that weight off and probably boosts your motivation to continue doing what you like.
I hope you don't loose your motivation. Everything you model and texture is top notch. Like the others said, releasing some of what you have already made (even if it is just the models, no lots or anything fancy) would make a huge difference to the way you feel. Trust me on that one. :)

hmm ...I didn't think about that facet . To complete Arthur's comment , please , do not pay too much attention to the number of comments nor the « like » system , seriously , who would be able to say « I don't like » nor simply « I don't feel anything » ()what() , that's impossible to stay unmoved in front of your models . $%Grinno$% ... I'd agree with Matt and others on this point.
People being able to use them in game will make a massive difference to you once the reactions, comments and in-game pictures are posted. Others can comment on this but I'd imagine seeing your creations and hard work being utilised brings immense satisfaction.
You may get a lot of attention with those superb models.
But to become immortal you will have to walk the dry and arduous last miles to complete the work and upload a pack.
To stop now is like to deny the whole journey you did since you rendered your first models for SC4.

133% scale (They will adapt with all my cars, tanks, ships, etc) or Simcity sims scale :bomb:

:D :D :D :D
I remember what PEG use to do back in time when every BAT, MOD he mades was something like 30 % too big compare to other custom products. Mixing it together, it looks weird BUT all of his own products fit perfectly with each other. As people didn't just download one BAT or one MOD but several ones (if not all) since his skills were high, the result in the presented cities were really good.
You've presented so many stuffs that seems to be quite appealing, I'm advocating to keep the same scale for all your production.
Peg and others like Simmer2 use that 133 % scale - which looks overscaled in comparison to most of the SC4 default AND custom content. I never understood that 133 % issue. ()what() Look at the cars and trucks - the limit is the width of the streets, which is limited itself by the default tilesize. I do play SC4 not only in paused mode, so all that beautiful automata made by dozens of heroic creators fill my streets. But whenever passing one of those 133%-lots, props, buildings whatever, it sucks. I scale down those models using SC4 Model Tweaker, but this will cause rendering issues. And yes, the maxis humans are too tall, but that's less disturbing than oversized lorries, trucks, houses, buses, wagons, props etc.
Keep the normal scale, please. Your work is so amazing and wonderful, don't destroy it by oversizing.
There are different types of scaling.
Because the game is so low resolution, Maxis exaggerated the size of sims and other small objects. If they didn't do that, humans at zoom 5 would have to be tiny one pixel wide sticks. The same logic goes for everything else at that scale, mainly street props. For this kind of scaling, the scaling is done in all dimensions in order to make the object as a whole more visible, and it's much more than 133%. I also know that road lanes and I think automata are also scaled up, but I don't personally the conventions for that.
The other kind of scaling which Maxis employed is vertical scaling, in order to overcome the visual squashing effect of the type of orthographic projection that they used in the game. You can see in the example below.
There are different approaches to vertical scaling, but the most common and imo the best and most straightforward is to model things to actual dimensions and then scale vertically by 133%. This can be done by grouping the building, applying an FFD Modifier, and then selecting the FFD cage and scaling that up. If you do it this way, deleting or disabling the FFD modifier will completely and perfectly undo the vertical scaling, so you can go back and forth between working in actual dimensions and doing previews or exports scaled up.
In terms of the exact number, 133% is the most common, although JP Schriefer has found that it's actually 136.6% (https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/73530-vertical-scaling-a-new-approach/). Either way, that amount makes the horizontal and vertical lengths the same, turning the front facade into a proportionally accurate elevation. Some people have thought that that makes things look too tall, especially for skyscrapers. They're partly incorrect there, because the game is orthographic and real life is in perspective and if real life was orthographic the buildings would also look "too tall" (in other words, human vision is giving a misleading impression of the proportions of objects), but they're also partly correct because the SC4 view is obviously from above in which case you would naturally expect to see some forshortening. Anyway, the result is that some people scale vertically, but less than 133%/136.6%. Some BATers model with taller than normal dimensions in order to intuitively correct for the squashing, but otherwise don't do any scaling. Sometimes I do this when I'm not recreating a real building. And finally, a very small number of BATers completely reject the concept of vertical scaling.
@mr.fusion I don't plan on using the real world scale because I think it's too small. btw, @badsim is making a lot of automatas that will fit with my vehicles.
133%
Not even on bing maps a car looks so small and the road looks the same size.
@Une_ame I'll follow your advise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
M7 Priest:
M8 Scott:
@alejogc13: yeah, that supercar looks cool on that road, but how about trucks and trailers of the same scale? As I said, I had to scale down lots of automata because they didn't fit into my roads, especially when turning on crossroads or driving bends.
@Jasoncw: thanks for your explanations - to be honest, I didn't get it all. What is the real world scale, then? Is it correct, that this 133 vertical upscaling issue IS NOT the same thing as general oversizing like PEG and Simmer2 do, as Une_ame said? If so, I'm sorry for mixing that up.
What I want to say is:
Please do not oversize like PEG and Simmer2. They make good stuff, but overscaled and chubby. In my opinion, most of the older and current (e.g. mattb325, RRetail, pclark06) custom content does not blend with their work, what really is a big pity.
Since it may not been clear enough, I'm advocating keeping the same scale in all Alejogc13's production. I'm not advocating growing everything the way PEG use to do. Nuance.
Very interesting debat though &apls
This is how it looks
Peterbilt 389:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut9e9q4TmgM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut9e9q4TmgM)
On the scale-debate on props (buildings are different) I cannot tell what's wrong or right. All I can tell is what I do.
As Sims aren't scaled correctly many props are like intermediaries between sims and bats.
I never used a ruler in the software. I put a car by girafe in SC4 and put one of my models next to it.
The reason is simple: I already use the girafe car props and I prefer their size so I want to have my own props to be compatible with them. To have perfered content in a compatible size is a main objective.
So that the first rule I got: Scale means nothing if the content doesn't look right compared with other content. It's not only a mathematical question but also a visual question.
And of course, f.e. some small cars I size a little up and some big trucks I size a little down - so in total they are much closer together inside the game than in real life ... but it looks well inside the game. And to me this is the important thing. Like I like girls very much. But it's not their size ore measures I care much but I get hooked by their beauty.
That's the second of my rules: beauty is all about proportions. There is no right or wrong measure but how they match each other - a very big body and a very small head may look strange but not a very big body and a very big head together. So there is no absolute measure that's right but of course there is relation - proportion which gives measure.
On street vehicles this relation is a problem. Because we have the streets quite small and the sims quite big. It's imposibble to create street props fitting both at the same time. Or they fit the streets or they fit sims.
It's obvious you have to find a compromise.
A little bit also can be done by using different street textures, without borders. But that's another project.
From my own little experience I know it's a very sad process. You have a nice model but it's to big. So you scale it down and you see a lot of details getting lost. But still too big. So you scale it down another little bit. And suddenly it looks like melted colors, blurry and ugly. That's what batting props makes a really hard challenge - to make a meaningfull shape alike to a model with a trillion of pixels but you have maybe 20 pixels at hand.
THIS – exactly this! &scl() – is craftmanship. Making such good looking models with such reduced amount of data.
It's like carving a picture story on the surface of a walnut.
One has to regard this as highly elaborated atistry.
@Fantozzi I plan to re-texturize the NAM
I try to make the BAT's scale look like in real life but it is a pity that the decision of the BAT's scale was taken a long time ago and I have arrived too late. This is what American trucks look like on European roads :D

You are rigth, the repetition of the texture is too evident in the zoom 4 & 5 . I know that there is a value that can be modified to prevent the textures from repeating when zooming, but unfortunately it controls all the textures and not one in particular. :(

Thank you so much for your contributions. Sometimes you really surprise me with some unexpected models. Just when I thought you are a specdialist in panzers, ships and cars you bring up some awesome trees instead.
It's no condition - but it gives much more life to the game if the tree models have seasonal stages: spring, summer, winter - or red auburn autumn colors - winters tristesse - full green spring and summer blossom. Something like this. But evergreen plants are more performance friendly so they have advantages too.
QuoteI made the decision to make my sims proportional to the cars (Now my sims will be 2,394 meters tall)
I think this is close to the size of adult Maxis' Sims.
Awesome work on the automata! I particularly like the ships. The rock texture is also really nice. It's indeed very hard to find or make one that looks good at different zooms and detail levels, probably why so many take the shortcut of using the same texture for many zooms. Besides the actual cliffs there can be useful places for such textures in the higher altitudes, as well as especially "dry" or "wet" parts of a terrain mod though--and since there are lots of those, as opposed to one rock/cliff texture, repetition is less of an issue.

It looks promising. I would adjust the HSV values though as they are a little too dark at the moment.
If I pick an area with your lightest green (from the in-game shot), it returns approx H 77 | S 46 | V 28, whereas one of the lighter parts of the mid-coloured Maxis trees is approx H 68 | S 48 | V 37.
Most of the custom content trees are also quite a bright green, so it would be advisable to brighten a little bit.
Yes, you are right :(. I have realized that this is the only tree that adapts to the color of my terrain and I think that may be a problem in the future, you know, many of the trees that we currently have available will be incompatible with my terrain mods. I think the only solution that will benefit everyone will be to create new trees for the game and I have a couple hundred. By the way, thanks for your opinion, I am open to any kind of criticism since I plan to create 8 terrain mods.
What type of terrain do you want me to recreate?
It is time for you to make your requests :D.
Hi alejogc13
I always read this thread, but never made a coment, lol
About your request, we don't have this terrains with HD textures, if I remember correctly:
Tropical (wet, dry)
Malaysia, Congo, Chiapas México, Colombia
Dry (desert, semi arid)
Sonora from Mexico, Saudi Arabia
Mid-Latitude (Mediterranean, Marine west coast, humid subtropical, humid continental)
California U.S., Greece, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan
I hope that this could give you some ideas. Or they could be requests :P

Awesome to see you working on a terrain mod! Certainly your attention to detail and skill bode very well for the project  I love the texture work, with that "snowy rock texture" that seems not even meant as an actual texture especially piquing my interest, could potentially offer some exciting contrast to elevations above the snow line not sloped enough to trigger the rock mod.
I've done my share of TM tinkering--ironically brought it up to a buddy just the other day before he pointed me in this direction, which was after the VIP TM thread got bumped yesterday :D Anyway, I wish I could offer more help, particularly with regard to your seasonal ambitions. I suspect the loose ends Maxis left leave it as technically possible but to best of my knowledge it's not yet been accomplished with much success. There certainly seem to be a lot of possibilities and little-explored possibilities with terrain mods but doesn't seem to be any
"low hanging fruit" there so to speak.
One suggestion I would make is that multiple great "rock" textures are actually a great thing and doesn't require settling on just one. Not sure how familiar you are with the .ini texture table but the thing i've been most happy with my work is probably incorporating as many top-quality rock mod textures as i could into the high-altitude, high- or low-moisture textures in that table (obviously below the snow line ;) )
Again, wish i could offer more help but happy chat about workings of that table and the TM controller file more broadly, among other things :) good luck!!
This should be what you are looking for (or rather, the exact opposite)

This other post has a handy annotation of most variables on the exemplar:
https://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=11691.0
It also includes a moisture data view, but there is another, done by CorinaMarie on ST, which is the one I use. Any of those would be useful to check the effects of changing those variables.
@noahclem I would appreciate your help because I don't understand the .ini texture table very well, I mean, I don't know what can be achieved by modifying it. Right now I am using the Gobias terrain mod as a base but I noticed that the variation of the textures is a bit boring in the lower parts of the terrain.
As you can see the mod uses a single texture in the lower parts to cover large terrain spaces.
I wonder if it is possible to modify the .ini to mix more textures and thus be able to break the repetition.
I don't quite understand what you meant about rocks but what I can tell you is that it can do a lot of rock and terrain textures.
@matias93 Thanks for the links I knew I had read it somewhere but I couldn't remember where.
Hi! Very nice textures in this thread. Do you upload them on LEX or not?
@Marggg Yes.
The leaves in the texture look a bit big because right now I only have access to 2x2m and 1x1m textures
Open the images in a new tab to appreciate all the detailsI can try to make the leaves look smaller but it is really difficult to make a seamless texture when it is repeated 4 times in the same plane (I mix 5 textures in a single plane.).

1. Can someone help me export these .fbx files to .obj?
I cannot import the files to 3ds max or blender because in each file there are 5 trees that add up to a few million polygons and my PC cannot handle them (
I have a i3-4130T and 4GB Ram &mmm) .
At least with the .obj format I can import each tree individually so my computer doesn't crash. If you are interested in helping me just send me a DM and I will upload the files so you can download them (You must have a good internet speed because the file size is 5.7 gb).

blender, a powerful PC and a good internet speed to be able to download and upload the files.

That's always a fresh emotion, and I'm sure that's true for us all, to see something we know particularly well, we can see everyday near us, oneday finally brought in SC4; for sure one the essential key of the game longevity.
I would need your MMP range (and at which adress I can start if you already have used some) for preparatory works; pre-filled MMP.dat files having each 20 examplars or 30 max , by experience, I don't think longer sequences would be fully used. Now , it's up to you to start to think about how to organize your files, for exemple, cars ortho/diag/x angle sorted out by wealth/brand ... or whatever you have in mind. ;)

Very nice models!
Both green and blue are difficult colours to satisfactorily emulate in the SC4 environment as the lighting rig has a warm red/orange/peach hue to it. Add to the fact that all colours must be very desaturated to fit in with the game and that the game is using 20 year old technology and you will need to make a number of changes to compensate.
It helps to understand that while >90% of all plants are green, each type of green plant primarily has three different base tones to make up that green: blue, red and yellow.
Most cool and temperate climate conifers typically have a blue base tone, most broadleaf evergreens typically have a red base tone and deciduous broadleaf trees can have any combination of the three. There are of course exceptions to every rule but the base tone colours tend not to change.
All araucarias typically have a blue base tone in real life. The colour you have used is a variant of (approximately) RGB 65|74|3 which is more aligned to the red/yellow end of the spectrum. This is why, once in the desaturated palette of SC4, it reads as the same green as your other flora.
I would suggest changing it to something like RGB 60|79|25 and then increase the Hue (approx 80) and Value (approx 30) to return to the warm mid-green.
That way, your tree will read as blue-green in the lighter and darker values while your normal leaves will still largely have the same green as you are using now (which fits in well with the game's palette).
@mattb325 Thanks for the advice, tomorrow I will do some tests to see how it goes

2015 Rolls Royce Phantom:
The models look nice. Regarding the color, it's difficult to get a proper opinion with the rendered view of 3dsmax.
Color palette in game would be the reference and still, I would be cautious as you will mainly focus on the colors / tone / saturation of the terrain mod which are sometimes not correct. I would advice to always check in game all your export, you could be surprised. A tiny change in 3dsmax could be much bigger in game.
Rendering a tree view should not take more than 5min even in old computer. The texture should be plain and not include alpha maps which (A. increase drastically the render timing, B. will make the coloring of your leaves even more complex). Better to have millions poly tree fully modeled than few thousands poly tree with alpha maps leaves.
Therefore, select well the models of your trees. Pines are the most difficult as the needles are rarely modeled but rendered with alpha maps.
Note: to speed tree rendering, select all your shapes, right click, object properties, check return black
@Girafe I will export the smaller trees to see what they look like in Simcity 4.
These pines have millions of polygons even using simple geometry, I also use alpha channels to add more detail.
By the way, the trees were bought in maxtree by a friend for his projects and he sent them to me. I can make new versions of the trees because I have the growfx files but I don't have a GrowFX license ($ 325 per year).

That would be deeply appreciated! I love how these trees look at Zoom 5 and 6, but the greens are distractingly bright at other Zoom levels. That's totally crazy; how are you (and us, poor of us... ::) ) gonna handle this ? ()what() OK, to create is your addiction, and I know what it is... ;) that's why I start to worry. That said, nothing is owed to us, and fantasizing here is already a lot.

That would be deeply appreciated! I love how these trees look at Zoom 5 and 6, but the greens are distractingly bright at other Zoom levels. The Cascadia tree controller uses them for valleys and riverbanks, so they always pop up in my regions. I'd love to have a version that retains the quality of the modeling, but without the overly bright colors.
Hi,

In the best of cases I will return at the end of September because buying a new pc is more expensive than I thought.

I feel sorry for you... &mmm
September is gonna look longer than usual... /wrrd%&

Love the new models. Particular fan of the European style trucks with the aerodynamic cab roof. Missing those in-game.
I hope non of these amazing content has been lost it would be shame. It really is Art amazing skill you have!
Alexjogc13 is it also for download in the Lex? :) I have found only a few on Simtropolis..
The seams can still be seen in the texture (Maybe I'll redo the texture).

Those last few models, as well as all the previous, are all quite nice.
Question regarding the cars. Do you model them yourself? Or do you find some resources online and adapt it? I have myself exported around 40 cars for my personal use (race cars for specific use etc) but since I'm not good at modeling vehicles and managed to find some on sketchup or some racing games 3d rips.
@art128 Most of the cars were purchased for our projects at Hum3D, Turbosquid and Squir3D. Supercars are rips.
damn that must have been expensive. What do you have for cars pre-1990 (race or sporty)?

I wish BAT4MAX (fshwrite.exe) didn't compress the fsh so I don't have to do it manually. :'(
The fsh look beautiful uncompressed. :D
How do you inserty non-compressed FSH?
Render views under BAT4MAX then save them as PNG, convert them as FSH and insert them manually in .dat with reader?

I use the output files located in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2012\gamepacks\BAT\Outputfiles\AGC_CAR_GMC_Yukon-Denali_2021_BLACK_V01_90-0x5ad0e817_0x4fcd8af6_0x30000\7ab50e44_4fcd8af6_30400
Then I use the Null45 plugin to be able to open FSH files in photoshop and save them as 32-bit ARGB, etc. I will try to do a tutorial as it is quite a tedious process.
Love your work! Got any potted plants I can throw on my Parisian balconies? :D ;)
Maybe yes, but I must search my files.
What kind of plants do you mean?

Not too exciting :D but if you have them in a 3ds Max version, I will add them to the balconies of my Parisian BATs (with credit due to you, of course). No pressure though!
@WannGLondon Right now I don't have those kinds of plants but it is almost 100% that I will have them in the next few weeks .

Indeed ! And that's only a part of that we can discover at Simtro. Personally, I'm short of english vocabulary when it comes to express my constantly renewed awe here. So, finally came in my mind this french idiom « C'est donner de la confiture aux cochons... » Google translation is gonna translate « It's giving pigs jam », yum-yum, but it seems that the closest english similarity is « To throw pearls before swine ».
More seriously, your results with photogrammetry technique are breathtaking. &apls

What I did miss in one year! So impressive. So much beauty on a single thread page!
The churches, the Ilyushin, the variety of monuments, people, cars ... I don't even know where to start to comment. It's like you can't drink because you are drowning.
I want this!
But don't release the Mercedes S600 "Pullmann". We will need to create XXL parking textures first.

I just spent my day off today going thru all 45 pages of this thread and am in awe of your beautiful models and grateful for the ones that have been uploaded for all of us to use
very much looking forward to your terrain mods as well thank you for your contributions
@sejr99999 Thanks for seeing all my thread &apls
My terrain mod right now is on hold because I'm exporting a couple of trees first.
Lavender
So far I have exported the following trees & plants:
- Ficus Carica (Common Fig)
- Pinus Halepensis (Aleppo Pine)
- Citrus Limon (Lemon tree)
- Pinus Pinea (Parasol pine)
- Cupressus Cempervirens (Mediterr... cypress)
- Pinus Brutia (Turkish pine)
- Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender)
Right now I'm exporting the Populus nigra (Poplars) that
@badsim requested me.
Populus Nigra (Black poplar)
Variant 01 (It is the same tree but with different heights and rotations)
Thank you very much for this nice attention :) ... although I don't know if I will ever be back from Arizona. :P
I saw your first Aleppo pines on mitsos' MD (which is one of my favorite). Besides, I have to be frank and now that I am working with another standard, I will not go back on this subject. Anyway, your trees will be a blessing for the community ... like anything being released by you. ;)

Toyota Yaris, George Washington, lavender, a mammoth, an ice breaker, a volvo XC 40, (with this powerless 3 cylinder motor?), wrecks, trucks - too much. Too much beauty. Hard to bear because "every little prop is magic". As if a SC4 druid is creating magic poison. Prop poison. My eyes drank from it. Now I'm obsessed.
@pierrebaptiste Yes, I am interested (sorry for taking so long to answer)
