Title: Re: Ursador - Take Part In It!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg95.imageshack.us%2Fimg95%2F4725%2Fpreface.jpg&hash=9d4e49db766242af1dd1111bfeea0de5ff425639)

I'm watching this site and Simtropolis for a long time, being amazed of all those MDs and great stuff here. I didn't post very often, but I finally thought of making a MD by myself. I'm also taking part in the GRV II Challenges (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=321.0), where the comments encouraged me, to do so.
I was thinking of the style, this MD should have, and came up with the interactive way, deathtopumpkins had with his Virgin Shores over at Simtropolis (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=100038&STARTPAGE=1).

So this is what I came up with:

   - I'll be the head of Department of Development (DoD), analyzing and fullfilling the demands of the population.
   - You'll be the representative population, voting on suggestions by the DoD. You'll normally get 3-5 options to choose from and will have 3-7 days to vote, if you want to.

This MD will take some time, as I'm not throwing in any skyscrapers, as long as there are myriads of fields in the region. I normally try to build up everything as realistic as possible.
(My GRV II participation is a much more experimental style of playing SC4).

So I hope you take part and enjoy this, as much as I will.

So this is Ursador, my Region. Handmade, waiting for 2GB of plugins being settled on it's surface.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg249.imageshack.us%2Fimg249%2F32%2Fregion.jpg&hash=a06784e13e8e00e688c8002aa157e217c27ea877)

It's 2x3 Medium Tiles big. I'm using the NAM, CAM, and custom textures, bats and lots, as well as the Maxis' ones. So feel free to suggest any ideas, that might make this region look better in your eyes.
Now let's begin with the first step (I'll call them decisions).

The first decision that has to be made, is, of course, where to start of. The DoD suggests the following 3 spots.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg82.imageshack.us%2Fimg82%2F6208%2Fdecision1.jpg&hash=ae1b5ebae22c24d6f60913e175c7646dcc75d80f)

Spot A:
Some lowland near by a natural lake, waiting for settlers.

Spot B:
North of an estuary of a small river, facing a beautifull island.

Spot C:
South of an estuary of a small river, with a lot of free space behind.

Furthermore, I would like to leave it up to you, where the next big city (in a neighbouring region) is. Tell me, if it's north, east or south of this region?

EDIT: As this is just a small thing, I'll leave 3 days for you to vote on these 2 things.

That's funny, I just so you over at CSGDesign's "Natural Growth" CJ at Simtropolis, where you said you had a similar building style as he did. I though to myself, "I'd be interested to see some of his work". I come over to SC4D, and here you are, with a new MD! What a pleasant surprise!

I think I'll vote for Spot A. I like how the hill's will eventually hug the city, and it'll provide a nice challenge for you (And the readers, I suppose, if this is an interactive CJ) to build over them once the city expands.

Looking forward to more great work. Oh, and nice Photoshopping!

If it is "natural growth" I would go with C. Imagining, of course, that I'm coming up along the river, seeing the immense crossing ahead and deciding to settle there in order to build up a base to enable further exploration at a later date. That's just my take on it! ;D

moin soulchaser,

i think it likely to have a city on spot B or C, cause it's on the crossing of two rivers!  ()stsfd()
for the next town i would choose the east (oh ... :-[ it not chooseable) because it looks like the river is fowing that way to the see, so maybe there would be a nice city with a habour!

Cool start! I really like how you explained everything.

One suggestion would be to use a poll instead of us all posting. I think a poll would recieve more participation, and would make things easier.

I would vote for spot A. The 'settlers' come to a fork in the river and turn left. They reach the end of the river, and backtrack to a nice spot they saw on the way, which is A.

I like the interactive idea. can't wait for more!

I would go with C. It gives you good space to expand, you can still have your richy residential neighborhood in the hills as well!

At first: Thank you for all those nice comments.

@albus: I was working on this start for 2 days now, and when I saw the CJ you mentioned, I thought it was the right time, to post.

@beutelschlurf: Did I write something unclear? Yes, you choose the direction to the next city. That's the direction where the first path will go to... so B and A might be as logical as C (talking to M4346 now ;) ), if you choose the right direction!

@bob56: As I'm not an expert with threading in forums, I don't have a clue, how to set up a poll, neither did I find any advice on it. So I'll have to keep on this posting-poll ;) .

Nice Purpose here Soulchase.I think i can vote right?Lets start with spot A,mountains,a lake and a river. These are looking good for me.And the biggest city?on north please  ()stsfd() .Good Luck with your CJ(MD)and nice start

This is definitely one I'll be keeping an eye on. Virgin Shores was a neat CJ to follow, and you've got a good region there. I like the idea of spot C to begin, as I think the major city should be in the middle of the fork, but settlements should start away from there so that demand can build up first.

And good luck with this MD, though I suppose I should be saying good luck to everyone if this is interactive.

I'm glad you like the pics of Ursador. I hope I can fullfill your expections.

As climate change and sustainable agriculture is well known at the Department of Development (DoD; currently settled in Anedover, downstream), the following laws where set up, as more and more farms began to grow.

1) For every felled (nonagricultural) tree, a new (nonagricultural) one has to be planted.

2) For every square meter of building space, 2 square meters of wood has to be planted to asure biodiversity.

3) The agricultural area has to be irregular to asure biodiversity.

These laws recently are respected, as you can see on the following pic.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg14.imageshack.us%2Fimg14%2F4669%2Ffarmingd.jpg&hash=6c98e5b9ca778b423bbe91856e389ba9492a33ab)

The region currently has a big farming variety.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg246.imageshack.us%2Fimg246%2F9333%2Fvariety.jpg&hash=f39fec96f25cd59fabd578c960c5aac71d394ea3)

The farms produce almost everything the residents need. There's even a trout-farm....

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg25.imageshack.us%2Fimg25%2F6640%2Ftroutj.jpg&hash=18765e7816d6a698e58c7af9447445afd19d4a16)

....though there's enough meat. The first farmer kept some cows, some months ago they set up a smaller gate for the calves.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg208.imageshack.us%2Fimg208%2F2361%2Fcattle.jpg&hash=d9930c483ce1f6e621ae34165bf0589edf0f3daf)

But newer developments reached bigger dimensions. The biggest cattle-farm contains a natrual well and lake.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg30.imageshack.us%2Fimg30%2F9167%2Fcattlebig.jpg&hash=94832cc6df5e5b50e6254210a3f73da37aa5cd62)

Beyond the farm owners some workers set up their small houses. There's also the first business, a small taco stand.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg208.imageshack.us%2Fimg208%2F6148%2Fbusinessg.jpg&hash=631dc5e43f98bfc0d4851d78a8370f9fe09a43a5)

The region even inspired a layman-artist for a first artwork.

Thank you all for the kind words.

@bob56: It was my first try with these fences...and it's a lot of work. My girlfriend is already annoyed

@splime: As the first settlement is already bigger than one medium tile, but the tractor spurs show up as black lines in region view, this is just a part, but it might satisfy your demand ;)

@Luke09: The trout farms are something I'm missing within SC4, so I use the new flat river that's hosted at the plex and the stex.

As some farmers demanded to settle their farms further north, the DoD had to analyse the regional circumstances. As a result the DoD proposes the following spots to fullfill those demands.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg40.imageshack.us%2Fimg40%2F5813%2Fmapfinalv.jpg&hash=6421b82e0bb84157638c6db08162270bf6cb474f)

Spot B: Set on a higher level, which might mean richer soil.

Spot A: Set on a lower level, but not as isolised as spot B.

For the options, the advantages of each are obvious: Income with ferries, reduced waiting periods with bridges.

We also need a waste disposit, as there are recently more than 1000 people living in Ursador.

Here are the 3 spots that are in the run:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg268.imageshack.us%2Fimg268%2F1633%2Fmapfinal2.jpg&hash=88eaedf2c2c2d871d3910987b2ddff2c89a4d9c9)

So you may vote (till next saturday, 08/22/09) which combination shall be used.
So something like A-I-C or B-II-B, might be in your comment, if you want to take part.

I'm glad you still are with me, and like it.

At the moment it looks like A-I-B has few votes more than the other possibilities, but it's a lot of time till saturday....by the way: while the votes are on, the region still grows...

Thanks, Nascar_Guy and CalibanX for your votes.
Maybe, someone can tell me how to add a poll, so this commenting-voting might be easier. I didn't find any thread, that explains how to add one  ;)

Sorry for all those, who expect a bigger update this weekend, after the votes' end. I'll be on a short trip for one week, spontanously. Because of this, The votes go on till 08/29/09. And don't loose interest   :-[

The people of the first settlement finally thought of a name for the small village, that has been built until now: Forstgardsplass.

The only picture of Forstgardsplass, available to the DoD, was made by an aviator, who had problems to find the right route to Anedover, because of bad weather.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg44.imageshack.us%2Fimg44%2F6448%2Fforstgardsplass.jpg&hash=c81b5b4647a00936a72afa9ae0ff3a7706ae0fbd)

Furthermore the biggest cattle-farmer commisioned a photographer to take a picture of his wide pasture for an advertisement.

And here is the actual map (I'll add a legend, next time!).

I'm back now.

The winner is: A-I-B
The DoD will receive offers of willing building companies. We hope the line with the budget will be met.

And Luke09, thank you for the kind words. The name is a concatenation of norwegian words. I thought this would suit this little village.

And still: Anybody any advice for getting these polls to work? I don't have a clue and can't find any advice searching the forum!

The settlements in Ursador are booming.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg181.imageshack.us%2Fimg181%2F4572%2Fbooming.jpg&hash=208f8af6d3d89a40ca59dfa9e96b13e0407e04d0)

While the farming population demands a lot of space, the DoD had to reach the northern shores of our small river.
Because of the often very bad weather, it had to have some roofcovering. As there are a lot of woods, this seemed to be the best way.
Now it's built and the residents of Forstgardsplass call it the birch brigde.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg259.imageshack.us%2Fimg259%2F5632%2Fbirchbridge.jpg&hash=c6d9e7c0f2f13741a37d33e3ef34b4ef7fdeb14c)

Soon new farms settled on the northern shores. There's already almost the same variety as on the southern one.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg259.imageshack.us%2Fimg259%2F2636%2Frurallife.jpg&hash=67401c2e32ff9aab7424ea2e432293e009e09f6c)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg510.imageshack.us%2Fimg510%2F5678%2Ffdss.jpg&hash=299bf36e6e86b22992ad4f4d8e45bca38caa2d59)

But the boom means also, that there's a lot of trash produced. But it's also a benefit for the region. Ursador is selling some trash to other regions' incinerator plants.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg510.imageshack.us%2Fimg510%2F4278%2Fcrapk.jpg&hash=b77b8f1271683c1ab310fd7d891ee1c2bc72799c)

Thanks for watching. There will be some more pics from Forstgardsplass and an updated map till sunday.

@all: Thank you for the nice comments. Now, that danielcote told me, where the poll-button is (darn I'm blind :-[ ) the next poll, that will take place, will be how it should be.

@just_a_guy: Yes, the streets take some work, but the fences takes much more.

@Battlecat: I like the landfill, too. I thought, there should be more than just some brown space ;)

@danielcote: The thing you are talking about is in pic 3 (Rural life)? There are just some cows, a watering place and a feeding trough, nothing more. Just a small cattle range.

Back with a new update!!! First of all: Thank you very much for not loosing interest.

@danielcote: No problem :D, I'm loosing track, too.

@NASCAR_Guy: Sorry, this is not THAT kind of interactive MD. You're not acting as single individuals, you're acting like the masses. I just love as things are growing. I try to plop as little as possible.

@io_bg: Thanks :)

@Luke09: It simply got the most votes. I hope you're satisfied with the results.

@tooheys: Those Farms are only possible because of the great mods, others made. The commmunities seem to be well laid out, but they're simply the result of logical decisions.

@ecoba: Thank you. Mapping is something I practice, because I just don't want to forget how to use the software :D And yes, All pics, but the maps, are photoshopped.

So the DoD has to scope much more on the trash, that is produced. The garbage collection truck drivers (huge word) protest driving on those busted streets. They want bigger roads. So we have to plan new traffic paths. In the later map the options (1,2,3) are marked. The people may vote for their favourite option.

Furthermore, a local company asked for a sight where they want to look for ressources. The suggested 3 spots (A,B,C) are open for the people's votes.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg38.imageshack.us%2Fimg38%2F5689%2Fmappe.jpg&hash=2c0dc049bc5d10f8edeba14bf292e06020dbc772) (http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/9283/mapbg.jpg)

Nice developement here!

The Six House Row is from RP2005 AKA zero7 and is one of my favourite R$ housings, too.. Unfortunately the STEX doesn't work for me at the moment - just look for RP2005 on the STEX or ask zero7 to upload it on the LEX.

So option 3 and option A have won. Good choice!

Nice couple of update!  I like that trout farm you made, good idea there using those canals.  That mosaic looks really nice as well!

The region is obviously still dominated by farms...a lot of farms.

ENERGY!!!

The DoD has the following range of offers by the interregional power supply industry:

1) WIND (wind turbine)
- Pro: no pollution, "easy" to build, not much space needed
- Con: might disturb the residents, "seasonal" (still have to get further energy from neighbours)

2) WATER (Dam)
- Pro: no pollution, attractive
- Con: expensive, unknown effects on the environment

3) FOSSILE ENERGY (Gas, Oil, etc.)
- Pro: cheap, reliable
- Con: pollution, unattractive, imports needed

Please vote in the poll!!!

Furthermore:
- The first (hopefully serious ;) ) commenter may name the mining corporation.
- We need a name for the yet unnamed village south of Maapunainen. Any suggestions?

You have time till 09/30/09!

Not to be egoistic, but to be honest, Maestro Mining? (note, my name is with the a and the e reversed)

Also, since your village has a Finnish (I think) origin, perhaps name it after a Finnish village? I propose Alajärvi.

Maestro Mining is fine....good name for the village, too.  maybe there are some other sugestions...we might vote then.

So: Here ya, here ya, the mine is further called Maestro Mining! "$Deal"$

So, back to business...votes are over....Water has won.

1 voter for wind, 6 for water and 3 for fossile energy.

If anyone has seen my dam in GRVII - Bordertown,...I will use this one here, too.

Sorry, recently RL needs some time, so this update is quite later than it should be and much shorter.

Thanks to all those voters, there will be another interactive update, soon.

Thank you, Maestro444, emgmod, Luke09 and Glowbal for your comments.

And as there are no other suggestions (and no veto ;) ), Alajärvi will be the name of the village south of Maapunainen.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg193.imageshack.us%2Fimg193%2F8612%2Fsolutionb.jpg&hash=f0cdc32da4e40991d5d4221b2d87b134c7a0286f)

So the DoD found a solution for solving the shortcut in energy in Ursador.
We invited SC4 Tech to build up their dam, as well as their maintenance building, north of Maapunainen. (credits for the bats go to SimGoober and PEG)

It is quite ecological as well as efficient, as far as we now.

I think you can find the dam quite easily on the overview.

The latest developments leaded to specific demands by the local residents. We have some new facilities in Forstgardsplass, next to the old ones.

A: Graveyard
B: Townhall
C: Small Hospital
D: Elementary
E: Church

You might remember this crossing from the last update.

Next steps.....

On the last picture, you see the actual end of the railline, by the freightyard (upper left corner). Some residents, as well as business and industry, recently demand a bigger net of raillines as well as a passenger station in Forstgardsplass. And you'll get an updated map as well.

That's what you'll see next, as soon as possible. I promise ;)

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention: do you want to see some special places you're interested in? just tell me :)

But seriously, with the maps, and the graphics, and attention to detail, there is a sense of realism here.

Wonderful region you have here.  I just read through the whole thing and I must say I am very impressed with the work done here.  First off, I must say, great photoshopping!  The pictures look spectacular.  Very realistic.  I especially like the farm work, the irregular shapes look great and nonuniform, which, in this case is good.

The dam looks mighty fine.  Very realistic, and the SC4 Tech building looks just right in there.  I'm also quite pleased with the region shot.  Amazing job!

I'll be monitoring this MD closely.  It's obvious a lot of hard work went into this!

sorry for neither replying nor updating this yet.

I have some time management issues, as opening my region takes 20 min with the Startup Manager and additionally, the SUM doesn't find the CD correctly...I have to start the region about 6-7 times, before sc4 really opens up.

This makes a waiting period of about 40-60 min. Don't know how to get rid of it, without buying a new pc/updating it :(

First of all: Sorry for the lack of updates....but the time management problem is still trying to kill this MD :bomb: seems like updates can only be expected every 14-21 days.

@danielvote: I hope I will be able to show you some more of these special places. none in this update :(

@Luke09: I think this kind of dams are very easy to build and don't look that wrong. Maybe some baters might build some better ones (Sorry PEG, this wall is perfect, but not easy to cumulate) or some that are better to arrange. %confuso

Sorry for the grid and the flags!

The fire fighters haven't been able to reach the dry fields that caught fire in late summer. 4 Farms and 3 Houses burnt down.

While the DoD has to work on these infrastructural problems the outskirts of the smalltowns keep on growing.

Thank you for all the comments. I'm here to let you know, that this MD wasn't destructed after the fire!

Then I wanted to thank you, commenting me into "best sellers". Maybe we will reach some more honours ;)

@Luke09: It was kind of annoying, when I realized I couldn't rescue anything at all.

@djvandrake: As the farmers didn't want to go away from Forstgardsplass, not much changed, sorry. But it seems like they've built houses that are more fireproof.

@Maestro444: What sand, it's all crop... dry crop ;)

Alajärvi is recently growing extremely since the Maestro Mining Corp. digged their hole. The population reached almost Fortgardsplass's.

The way that you build your towns is very beautiful, and I like the way that all of your streets are windy, and make it look like all of your towns grew naturally.

Does Ursador have any mountains?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg39.imageshack.us%2Fimg39%2F7751%2Fdec5w.jpg&hash=481a33d82a4b51b2f9225d30826d711bcbfcbecf)

Just to let you know. Ursador still is mostly rural. Time's running, the main town is in year 60, now.
(Notice: one year in medium speed is about 20 minutes on my PC, and I'll never let it run faster than this.)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg710.imageshack.us%2Fimg710%2F8851%2F64975675.jpg&hash=31247cae8e4cb73ed21edb6926c544dbe2f1bedd)

I still keep an eye on every single farm.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg710.imageshack.us%2Fimg710%2F9096%2Frlii.jpg&hash=4772b171f251488fc56c8c4343adab496bb933f6)

But there's already some, let's say, CBD. There was already a pic, but it has changed since then.

M = Market
E = Elementary School
S = Main Station
F = Freight Station
T = Town Hall
H = Hospital
and new:
U = Unemployment Center

Yes, the DoD has to deal with this to.

So what's next?

The DoD got a request for a small harbour village by some fishermen...ehm...families, who had to give up their houses downstream, because of a terrible storm. Their regional governance tydied eveything up, but they also planned some giant amusement park on the shores. (The DoD isn't sure if this is a good idea!)

So the regional population may vote, which "peninsula" we want to sell to them. Proposal A or B?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg39.imageshack.us%2Fimg39%2F8175%2F83522132.jpg&hash=12a2a555ae84601c8c3b8a7ac89cab102c4703d1)

Please vote. I'll be back on Dec. 27th!

Ouh...I seem not to be allowed, to add a poll (don't ask me why, the button is missing!). So you'll have to comment for voting :(

Good to see you back, my friend.

Working on a Masters Degree is perfectly fine, feel no stress of us here, Real Life comes first, no matter how crappy it may be.

Ursador is still as beautiful as ever, and the assortment of farm fields that you use make the region view stunning! Forstgardplass sure has grown a bit but, it's nice, there's a nice assortment of BAT's in that 'CBD', if you can call it that. (Well, I guess it is, 'cause it's the largest central commercial district...)

Anyway, I vote for peninsula B to go to the fishing folk. And, don't let them build a theme park.... IMO.

Nice job there  How about Penisula A?I would like to suggest that you develop the city only with coblestone streets and the normal roads,i really like coblestone streets  ::)

@ecoba: Thank you very much, my friend. You're encouraging me, going on. And no, they won't be allowed to build a themepark on their own.  ::)

@warconstruct: Thanks for your nice comment.

@Luke09: I like cobblestone streets, too...maybe I'll follow your suggestion. Thanks for the comment.

Your votes are counted in. Sadly, it was only you 2 who voted, yet. Maybe I'll find a MODerator, to help me with the POLL button and some more will vote, then. Or this update might encourage some more lurkers to comment  ;)

First, the DoD has to inform you, that the commercial big player in the region, the Meastro Minig Corp., widened their mining area and renewed their production facilities.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg686.imageshack.us%2Fimg686%2F2430%2Fmmc.jpg&hash=a5d55362586fe48b425b0b4a6388c41f0751b677)

Ursador sometimes is really foggy, maybe also because of the high pollution. We lastly had to build a water purification plant near the Alajärvi Freight Station.

At the very end, here's a picture of the most popular neighbourhood in Ursador. It's next to the market and little lake in Forstgardsplass.

Everything's looking good here, soulchaser. I like how all of the towns are connected by farmland and also how close together they are. Reminds me somewhat of the New England US. It'll be interesting when you have to build motorways.  ;D

@danielcote: I think you'll find some more, this time.

@ecoba: Motorways will come for sure, just keep watching ;)

@Battlecat: Yes, polls were still open. Now that I can set up "reale" polls, again, it will be simpler :) .

@Thomas Neto, bat & djvandrake: Thanks for your nice comments, some nice pics will follow, hopefully ;)

@RippleJet: Thank you for your help, I'll have to set up polls from time to time, so this was kind of complicating. $%Grinno$%

So, as almost noone voted (3 votes, 2:1 for A) and the update is that far away, I've decided to go on building ;) . Simply: I couldn't wait :D

So this is what the DoD has initiated:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg689.imageshack.us%2Fimg689%2F6569%2F50983954.jpg&hash=7275fa1950ff712dd95dc6ca35955bbb945c85bf)

As the people voted, the bigger peninsula was offered to the refugees. And the population almost doubled.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg641.imageshack.us%2Fimg641%2F6528%2Fmainf.jpg&hash=870a5bd79171b725f7a4fae3996bdf0b0635a969)

The central part of the mostly residential settlement is not very far from the northern end of the dam.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg51.imageshack.us%2Fimg51%2F3059%2Fmain2t.jpg&hash=0683b7f8805d0d994a0134521812bf75b4b87f4a)

We've built a school (red), a church (blue), a watertower (green) and a central market (orange) for them.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg693.imageshack.us%2Fimg693%2F1616%2F93616661.jpg&hash=d1caf17039617d0a8e34c9851f53db963a2e5b80)

Most of the inhabitants work in the commercial sectors.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg193.imageshack.us%2Fimg193%2F448%2Fboatgm.jpg&hash=470e0ee8643fe47ec760e231ff3097b7610188b8)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg689.imageshack.us%2Fimg689%2F6600%2Fcarrousel.jpg&hash=af711ba707958a5d33c2c8da40721fce4649fea7)

They focus on tourism related money.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg198.imageshack.us%2Fimg198%2F1024%2F65709527.jpg&hash=ac05e8e1650a65ee98a1ec5d631d77dbcdf58d20)

This also attracts more and more people, so we have to plan for bigger houses now.

Thank you for your attention.

@mightygoose: Just been here for a while ;), I hope you like it.

@Luke09, BuildingUp, scott1964, djvandrake, Battlecat, Thomas Neto, bat, io_bg: Thank you all for the kind words. Some more pics will follow soon.

Semester break is near, hopefully more time for more pics, then.

So here is a short new update, waiting for your submissions.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg109.imageshack.us%2Fimg109%2F161%2Fdec6.jpg&hash=8516431188155ba36a7d1c35fca118d38816156e)

The DoD recently was asked by the supraregional authorities to throw in a possible route for a highway, leading traffic from north to the south-east.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg59.imageshack.us%2Fimg59%2F9494%2Foverviewk.jpg&hash=cbf2ec1095575a33081a67d8080748c887d7fe96)

There have also been regional stake-holders that heard of these plans and wanted to be involved in these plans (bif industries; see picture below).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg46.imageshack.us%2Fimg46%2F7513%2Foverviewba.jpg&hash=925c3e704e3eee24f16ceb9afe734996b146f6d4)

So this is the plan worked out by the DoD, but we are not sure, if his is really the best, so we want YOU, the residents to send in some other plans (1 or 2 per submitter).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg198.imageshack.us%2Fimg198%2F6559%2Foverviewaf.jpg&hash=cd32683e579bc5c3989f98779bc94a5a1b3b41d9)

We will provide further pics, if neede, just point the place, we'll take some.

I'm looking forward to your submissons (Deadline: 02/20/10; yes, that's ten days ;) )

Just want to add a pic, that might help on plans. A traffic view with gridnames.

while all very well and good as a realistic highway unless it approaches closer to your towns it will not see use.

@bat: Thank you, feel free to add another pic, if you have a better suggestion for the path.

@mightygoose: I'm not sure if I completely understand you right (there might be a missing dot somewhere?!). So you suggest a path converging to the main town less distant? Show me ;)

Here are just some more (wordless) expressions from Ursador.

The highway alignment looks pretty good already, my only suggestion would be to swing it a bit more south towards the urban core in A3 and B3 to provide better access.  The city there can grow up around the highway in the future.

I like the shots in your latest update as well, your town looks very nice!

ONE?...Thank you, Battlecat, I hope your suggestion is resembled in the following possibilities.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg706.imageshack.us%2Fimg706%2F3970%2Fdec7.jpg&hash=a2e8b6aab9e323603faae6887550ebe229383339)

A)

B)

  • Fast lanes!
  • More expensive!

  • 1 Extra-Part & 1 ramp!

C)

To tell you, what's delaying the update and the replies:

I had a building grown, that neither fit nor was the right stage. I bulldozed it, but the LOT didn't vanish!!! So if anyone has any idea, what to do, please comment.

Further explanations:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg101.imageshack.us%2Fimg101%2F7489%2Flostn.jpg&hash=3f71d7e8aebf718b107afa6567f00e554f1c9922)

  • The LOT doesn't react on bulldozing or deleting zones.
  • The LOT doesn't react on building anything or rezoning.
  • The LOT doesn't have any description beside that it's "Land der Stadt" (in english, maybe: "Belonging to the city." Like police, schools, etc.).

This is an ugly spot as of now, and I want it to be removed, before my next update, as I'm a kind of perfectonist with that. I hope we can get it done. ;)

I've had the same problem before. Try plopping a lot over the one that can't be removed which is at least 3x3. Then bulldoze the whole thing and it should disappear.

Follow these steps in the EXACT order as described:

1. Place pedmalls on all areas of the undesired lot.
2. Bulldoze pedmalls
(with some buildings, it looks like all is cleared up; the non-erasable lots are gone along with their textures. Although in actuality its not.)
3. zone residential over the whole area of the undisired lot.
4. Bulldoze (not to be confused with dezone) over the lot.

Thank you very much, Jim T., I read this vefore, but have forgotten this too. But no, this didn't work either. I can't build anything, no landmark, no pedmall, nothing.

I also tried lowering the land untill water was all over....no chance, just a floating LOT.
