Welcome to the team friend!   &apls  &apls  &apls

To me you are one of the most elite members of the SC4 Community.  It was not a hard decision in my mind to say, "YES!!  :o"  You have this massive project here in 3RR which gets more views than anyone could imagine.  Your are a truely upstanding member of the community in which you have been given the honors of being a moderator and Admin of this awesome site.  And of course who can forget your dabbling and experimenting all over the place, Cruved Roads, Photoshop Experiments, Gameplay Experiments and of course one of the biggest maps to ever hit your SC4 Desktop 3RR.

And to think... You were not worthy of joining our small insignificant team!  We should be so lucky to have such a member of your calibre interested in our team let alone interested in joining our team.  We would be silly not to take up this offer.

For all of this, THANK YOU!

EDITWell, shucks, my friend.  I kinda saw things the other way around...  Anyway, I think there are great things ahead for all of us, and for SC4!  -DE

Hey, David, after reading the edited version I think I have a little bit better idea of what you're looking for (think outside the grid?). Give me a day or so to analyze and digest the info, then if you're game, I'll provide some feedback as to why I wrote what I wrote. Hopefully this exchange will help you and all the volunteers get closer to being on the same wave length.
Meanwhile, at least I got "toe" and "cruise" right (you know I'm kiddin' around I hope)!

Until next time...
Joan

Hey, y'all - just thought I'd stop in and let everyone know that I'm helping David out with converting the distances on the maps from kilometers to miles, so that those who prefer the Imperial system over the Metric system won't feel left out.

I will still be doing the exit signs and such in kilometers.

Pat

David thank you my friend...  Its a great pleasure to be apart of a very active community.... I also have to congratulate you on the newest hat or badge you are wearing of New Horizan Productions... Congrats again
on that acceptance of becoming part of anther elite team... Also congrats for being an offical observer at SCJU...

Speaking of maps...

What a long, strange trip it's been.

Later.

I'd be curious to see that very large bridge on Route 11 just east of 3RR :D

EDITOwen, the lake is fairly shallow (5-10 feet/1.5-3 meters) nearshore, so the bridge consists of two roughly 1.5 mile/2.5 kilometer long rip-rap causeways with the middle two mile/3.3 kilometer stretch built on concrete pilings.

The "hump" in the middle is over the shipping channel dredged north to Kenora.  The bridge deck is four lanes wide with a Jersey barrier [linkie] down the middle.  It was completed in 2004 at a cost of CDN $272 million.  The bodies of three environmentalists who laid down in front of the paving machines on the western approach while it was being constructed have never been recovered.

One of these days, I'm going to have to buy you a beverage of your choice and you'll have to tell us all how you do these things! So meticulous, so precise, and so amazing! Great work, David! Great work!

Wow. I never seem to say that enough when I'm browsing the hallowed topic Three Rivers River.

You have out done yourself on the highway map, David.

I, too, would like to do as Dustin and buy you the beverage of your choice, not for your "secrets," but just because you're THE David Edgren.

Also, just out of curiousity, what does Heather think about the 3RR Project?

Have a nice evening and I hope the winter snows hold off for a couple of more weeks.

Cheers,
Kevin

Hmm, the low causeway Jeronij & I are working on may come in handy if you ever plan to do bridges like that in Sc4. What bridge is that in real life btw?

sc4luv2

I noticed your "Pine Cone Islands" Map, and did some changes to it.

The following changes are:

  • Highway 9N is to connect Nike Site Pt.
  • Highway 9D (9DA-B) connects to my little part of the area, Osment Island and Little Tree Island, connecting to Erasville (on Osment island)
  • 3 new islands (your road can't dead end in the middle of a bridge)
  • New town, Erasville (to give Hwy. 9D a reason to be there

Now let me tell you about Erasville (it's my fictional town to donate to 3RR),
It has one of 3RR's fanciest casinos, the Costal N Casino, the outside looks like Wynn Las Vegas Just with "Costal N' Casino".
It also has the Erasville International Port, the 2nd most famous port in 3RR.
You just turn on 9DB, and you're there.

Here's a map for my updated Pine Cone Area:

and, Erasville:

Thanks,

Hm, somehow I doubt a bridge system like that would be built, it'd involve a lot of protests from the locals. :P

These towns are probably already connected by a ferry system (David, am I right in assuming this?)... there's most likely a ferry between Ellisport, Falls City and Avon.

I have to agree with the above, a bridge system would be quite expensivly useless with such a small pop in the area.

Jmouse

I prefer the idea of a ferry as well. IMHO, a highway/bridge system feels out of place in this environment, so it will be most interesting to see how David reacts to your suggestion, sc4luv2.

Until next time...

mmmm

The highway system in the map doesn't convince me.....

I'd really repfer a ferry system to this...

Ryan B.

It's a good idea, but I'm not a fan of it.  It seems like there are too many primary roads in that little space for what looks to be a smaller population.  A ferry system would work much better.

BigSlark

I have to agree with everyone else, it seems to be a lot of infrastructure for a low population area.

Even if the bridges were built, the long span on Highway 9 south of 9N probably wouldn't be built unless there was no possible way for the DOT to upgrade 9N. And in the 21st century, "where there's a will there's a way" is the prevailing attitudes of most DOTs.

Cheers,
Kevin

I don't like that map either.  PIne Cone Islands are small wooded islets not large Islands.   That does not fit into 3RR though a good suggestion in a different setting though.
