--- THIS is OLDER WORK, for CURRENT WORK visit PAGE 3 (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1503.msg67343#msg67343) and beyond! ---

This is not my first foray into the world of CJing (yeah its called an MD here but I resist change  ;)). But this IS my first attempt at a CJ here, maybe it wont get lost in a sea of other journals like at ST which I find quite frustrating. I may sprinkle a little interactivity into the mix, possible with reader polls for what to do with certain areas but this wouldn't be implemented for a while.

Okay, I'll shut up now and break out the recycled pictures (these have been posted in a couple Show Us threads here before, but I'm working on some new stuff). BUT these aren't all old.

I like experimenting a lot and this first post here will touch on the experimenting I've done as of late.

I'll start with my oldest city (1300 years on the region, 750 in the main tile... yes as a matter of fact I have been told I'm dedicated.... also a loser  $%Grinno$%)

Oh yeah. I post picture descriptions at the BOTTOM of the pic, I'm telling you because it can be confusing sometimes.

So here's West Derry (read "Dairy"):

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2FWestDerryMetroplex-1180986783copy.jpg&hash=8ea02fd7dbaac436e94a7d9c2a706a489e8c9d07)
Region Shot (very slightly out of date, the suburbs filled in a tad and the Easternmost block of suburbs is now connected. This region grows at an agonizingly slow pace and is almost abandoned (I can avoid stagnation with medium tiles, larges are a pain  :bomb:) <-- I love that smily!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fdowntownnew.jpg&hash=4b00261d51c8176176f9174c82565506f4cc033a)
NOT out of date ! This is the downtown of West Derry, I could count on one hand how many commercial growables (about 7! ???)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fsuburbia1.jpg&hash=ac5f34666d1e959defef503276803a52a6aaa218)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fsuburbia2.jpg&hash=93b706879ad6e4dea61fc83532254d4ec51b559a)

I suck at midrise and often ignore it  ::).... Brentwood (next round of pics, the recycled ones) will be a bigger city anyway, more midrise.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fchicane3.jpg&hash=538572ca764b0a372f0db5879a263523ccd09514)
Random scenery. Trees aren't there anymore, looking for a controller I like - currently testing Olympic).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fchicane2.jpg&hash=539091ec071a5fe02eb404ccfc8ef97d91956720)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fchicane1.jpg&hash=323e9978cd11a6b5a6f41eaf767ba38a99a5f8d7)
This was probably one of the first uses of the curves outside the NAM team. Literally done a half hour after it was released. (Tarkus was pleased to note that the curves show up as curves in region view, I doubted it, now we all know that the transit map follows paths  &idea)

Now we leave West Derry to Brentwood (one city in the brentwood region, none others developed on yet):

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0004.jpg&hash=8822634e8d013e6261e947d1897e265cc2707939)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2FBrentwood-DowntownComplete1.jpg&hash=9b8115ce33c2b7d718d2a279766f5f4975050f65)
Downtown, all comm. is plopped. (If it isnt perfect, BOOM, thats why the West Derry downtown tile has 750 years passed when its not half done...)

The nuke isnt there anymore, replaced by some great little 1 tile solars (all face south, a little dab of realism  ;))

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2FBrentwood-DowntownBack.jpg&hash=6ae2a6db938a2f91de034af6673dd8c401ad0813)

I really love this shot.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2FBrentwood-Aug.png&hash=873df3d0d8d33601bf2e0bf17e5071fcee38feee)
Really proud of this, 2 hours of work. Some of that a complete redo.

The Brentwood Port:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0000.jpg&hash=ebd7c0170fc5ee667ef5dec4ce452cc0b0eebcf9)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0001-1.jpg&hash=8de9a8fe73f39a2294b7b3691b98afc1103faf25)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0003-1.jpg&hash=40a281a7a45ee8eb2e66b314e5a7c5dfe0a539bb)
That was harder to do than it looks....

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0007.jpg&hash=678bb25c2a91395167ee1eef351eed87e9203d7c)

Now here's some experimentation. It all works as meant to.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0002-2.jpg&hash=e6043cb875bb391ad6711de4deb238f8927c5152)
This is somewhat of an alpha version, I haven't quite got it yet. Ramps aren't evenly elevated. (the curves are connected to one-way roads, so only one lane of the curve would get usage, no backflow though)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0007-1.jpg&hash=424c8a141e33fe01322307b260e9918631255f24)
Earlier try, shows how the better version works.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0005-1.jpg&hash=8e203305973f3e25914f35bd687daf935a4d641c)
This is a early and pretty much final version of a smooth "highway" curve... Next NAM may help this out.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0009.jpg&hash=e70d3a8ef2223843b1c572a9bb28767c0538fd93)
Overview.

The idea itself stemmed from my want for onramps that go over the highway and sat on dirt mounds and not pillars. (basically for a more rural look, I'm in the VERY prelim stages of a recreation of my town... I can't BAT so it doesnt help much, a couple necessary landmarks)

So I hope that's enough for you  I'd think so.

And hope to see you back later!!! More of... well... something... don't know what.

What do you think?¿ <-- Heh, the ONLY hotkey special character I know.

Hello again! Been a while since I updated (got a bit bored and busy!)

So here I am with 15 more pics of West Derry!

But first and foremost, repliues for my valued readers' comments!....

HabLeUrG: Thank you! Keep watching, you may find some of your interchanges being used in the near future!

bat: Thanks! I too thought it would be good to start off with a massive post!

Bengt: Yup, I thought it was time to show off in a more permanent way! BTW, love your CJ/MD!  ;D

Ennedi: I've been working on a more refined version of that smooth highway curve... Not show-able yet though!  ::)

emilin: Well... It is awesome to see such a nice comment from the SC4D Mayor Diary god.

cityhawk: Thanks, no Brentwood (the island and harbor) in this update! Trying to finish the main part of Derry first. I think I do pretty well with the "forbidden" grid!  :P

The Six Cents: Thanks, that's really one of my first harbors. definitly the best. Thanks SOMY!

Now that that's done its time to get to the good part! Remember, captions at the bottom of pictures!

Here is a view of the West Derry Cemetery... Couldn't think of a better name! This took almost 2 hours to get just right!

Thanks for stopping by! Any comments are welcome, if negative please keep it civil and give a reason why (then I might consider it  ;))

Until next time!

Wonderful pictures  &apls &apls

The only thing is with a population of 100k+ where is the traffic?

Other than that it looks marvelous. btw where did you get those walls in the last picture by the motorway?
I must admit I was a bit shocked to see my name there :D
I've never been west before $%Grinno$% - I mean west of Ireland  $%Grinno$% but maybe some day

I especially like how all your transportration networks intertwine.
That last shot with the highway that loops around is excellent.

Cemetary is looking extremly good. And it's nice to those old sunken highway walls in use once more. They look much better than I remember them. A pity that they lack diagonals though.

Thanks for the wonderful comments!

Working on a big update (read: airport and rural junk) so it might be a few more days.  ;D

Oh and as a bit of an FYI.... TTC mentioned that there isnt any traffic: its all game settings, I like detail but the cars lag like crazy so the easiest thing to do was to get rid of 'em.

Until next update!

PS: This is not a bump!  $%Grinno$%

Like what I see so far, this is a nicely planned area with a good transport network. :)

I understand why you keep the traffic "turned off" while you are developing, but if you can why not
turn it back on just while you are taking your photos. It just adds that extra bit of realism. Regardless,
I'm looking forward to see how this develops.

Cheers

Update 3! Not the so called "big" update... It ain't coming!  :D

Updates have been slow because I've gotten fed up with West Derry. It is so stagnant and my skils have progressed past the level at which that city was constructed. And I never complete anything anyway....  $%Grinno$%

I found a new region I liked and then heavily terraformed it with one of wounagaine's (read: god's) awesome tools, SC4TF.

After 2 hours of terraforming it was at a state where I was satisfied so I got to building. I am extremely, EXTREMELY pleased with the results so far.

Replies:

TTC (Derry): Like I stated in earlier, detail settings.  :)

Mulefisk: I like the loop too, it came out well and I'm proud of it  ()stsfd(). Now I could do better though...

Cityhawk: Ditto for Mulefisk's comment!

BTW guys.... The transport network in that city SUCKS. All the traffic is one like 3 roads. Kills the growth....  ()sad() And I can't seem to fix it.

emilin: Diagonals would be awesome. But then again that set is well designed around the highway exits. Uniquely.

Bengt: I always appreciate good humor! And if you remember I convinced you to release that one....  :D

EDGE4194: That is one of my favorite things about reading CJs... the wealth of interesting ideas to steal implement.

patfirefghtr: Thanks.  Short and sweet comments can sometimes be some of the best!

oyd: Thanks I worked hard on that. Though in reality is is actually rather simple.

tooheys: I may turn it on for that but mayybe not. Depends on my mood. And like I said earlier: The transport network actually really really sucks. Lol.

So no more boring talky stuff. Pictures!!!!

Just a view of the only interesting part of the region. The rest is flat, and the coast largely boring!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0016.jpg&hash=bc1e197a4e35aca43a851b1dc0d46d4f85cc4c74)
A bridge ending in the new city. This is the most important and maybe only bridge to downtown.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0017.jpg&hash=f2d6e85e99c8c8d8cc61d381c2d7884532825a4b)
A random closeup of the bridge. I love this style and few people use it....  ()what()

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0018.jpg&hash=070af001cd620e6d1cccaf8119db1f41c2f09a82)
Central Island for the bridge.... I used what was there. And it makes it look better IMO.

Sorry, I didn't see it yesterday.

I, too, love that bridge flame1396. NOB does make great transit stations, I wish more of his stuff was in English. I'm looking forward to a massive port city!

Cheers,

Dear flame1396,

An excellent update, if I do say so myself. The island between the two bridges has given me some great ideas for my current region.

I would also like to point out the nice terraforming on your selected city tiles. The peninsula-type formation is something you may see on the Gulf Coast (Texas - Florida) and works very very well.

Also, the absence of shorlines and perfect fitting tiles gives the pictures an industrious feel. Very nice!

Overall, a pretty good update!

I agree with beskhu3epnm, the terrain does look like the Gulf. However, very few places in the Gulf have lots of seawalls, there's more rip rap (like jeronji's set) and just natural coastline.

Whether or not that is your inspiration, its just an observation from a Gulf Stater.

Cheers,
Kevin

New update when I get around to it.... I have new material....

The downtown isnt coming out to my satisfaction. I'll blow up the buildings and show the seawall stuff...

And no it isnt based off of the Gulf. Most of my cities end up looking as though they were from New England or the Pacific Northwest.

However the map is a modified version of a map from Florida!

Sorry for the lack of an update. I've been preoccupied. And in SC4 I'm debating doing a city with a very heavy industrial base (little or no downtown). This would be waaaaaay out of my comfort zone and I've never really tried anything close to the difficulty of this project.

Industry was always my SC4 shortcoming. I'm working on making it my strong point. Buildings and cheating and huge BATs oh my!

Flame all i can say is just give it a crack and remeber have fun doing it...  Just make sure if you are going to do a industry tile make sure you have plenty of rail connections to the other citys and also make sure the other citys around have a good residential base. those are the only 2 tips i can think of for ya's.. - pat

Industrial city - Mount Robson map teaser

Waaaaay out of my comfort zone. I have little experience with sculpting industry and even less with mountains  ;D... I have however taken the time to download everything I passed up before due to massive dependency lists.

Spent a day last month or so touching up the map for work.... My pitiful Hill-building skills need to get better fast :)

Yes... 2 updates in one day.

Both are sorta small though... so... maybe only counts as 1?

Well I've been busy. I filled maybe 400 tiles in 2 hours.. I work slow. Very slow.

Though I did jack it all up halfway through with a slip of the hand. Causing the god mode tool to blow up most of the city  ::)

Another view of some new construction.

And some personal replies...

beskhu3epnm - thanks, that region has been put on hiatus for now. Having downtown builder's-block lol. If you've read AK's CJ over at ST you may recognize some similarities between that city and one of his.

BigSlark - I just liked the shape of the map... Not trying to do a gulf style city. I'd be too worried that a hurricane would come along and destroy all my hard work!  ::)

bat56 - Thanks... you may be surprised that my plugins folder is only just past 1GB  ;)

starmanw402007 - You may be glad to know I'll be leaving the mountains alone for the most part. Trees will be added... when I get around to it. (read: only god knows when I'll get around to it)

patfirefghtr - Thanks for your patience. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my laziness labor.  :D

Post by: flame1396 on September 05, 2007, 07:45:37 PM
This is what I came up with!

I'm not totally happy with it. mainly the area around the twin towers...  &mmm Can't figure out why though... I'll just build the city up and do better on the next one I guess.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0024-1.jpg&hash=83a015b53e56f087b70b9e01615775d00246d5f9)
Transport view. Much more planned than any system I've done before.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0022-1.jpg&hash=97be62e77f3943a9892cbd111ba2b31f6810750e)
The area I don't like, this, has its merits but... I just don't really like it. Maybe it'll look better when drowned in the rest of the city?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0018-1.jpg&hash=c5fa533632da819958019e324a010cc69afe0f94)
I love the skywalks. They match these buildings perfectly but didn't come as a set. Its jsut a compatibility I've found. Quite pleasing.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0021-1.jpg&hash=36e6b9484a5974a599600abfdba447d28ae3395a)
I like everything in this shot.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0020-1.jpg&hash=057da7d4507d780dd8efa05afef4e8ace9998b27)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0017-2.jpg&hash=68f4314a5dd50f89d3e74fd4e48978a6dcaa129d)
See?  &mmm

And clip2pic had an eff-up and didn't take my last 4 pics.  &sly

But on to the good stuff....

Hah, nope. Replies first:

@ Pat: I think it looks better. I invested more time into it and I must say I'm happy with the results.

@ thundercrack83: Yay, finally hit the first milestone!

@ bat: Thanks

Already replied to rooker1 in the above post.

I changed my graphics settings. So you'll see shadows and one ambulance.  :D

Sorry if any images look like the last update. I was doing close-ups and wasn't paying close attention to placed photographed before.

Closer overview of the new areas. I reworked some old ones.

Reworked the "centerpiece"... I like this a lot more than the old one with the twin towers.

Slightly better view.

On to the closeups... The best way to show off a city. In my (not very) humble opinion.

Eaven Moore (SC2k fans will get this joke)

I blew up the wall to wall And added this. I'm paying lots of attention to adding parking and alleyways. And shopping and corner restaurants. This is the most realistic downtown I'm made. Ever.

I agree - this downtown looks very, very good!
And as for nightlights - I am not a specialist in this theme at all, but I see the following thing:
You started a city from plopping many buildings in the downtown and you haven't any city life yet. When I built my old cities in the similar way, I often noticed nightlights in ploppable buildings were off when I hadn't workers/residents in them. And when city growed up, nightlights appeared.
I don't know the principle exactly, maybe someone more experienced could say how to adjust it (modyfying particular exemplars?)

Edit: I forgot to say you have fantastic looking industrial area here - of course still some work to do with it  ;) And using seaport lots on the land is very good and creative idea - I do it too

Double posting in the name of and update! 10 pics this time.

Only the downtown tile, I'm exhausted after lotting 141 custom lots for suburbs (a selection of maxis houses I like). Yes. 141.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0029-1.jpg&hash=c7303e961e6ec9a03337fdd8d7f9f285628d0ec7)
New region shot. Anyone know how to fix the blurring effect of the leftmost tile? The game does it every other tile. If I move the blurred tile to an even numbered tile it isn't blurred...  ()what() Annoying.

I like the arrangement of the diagonal apartments, an idea that came out nicely.

That's it for today folks. Update as soon as I can. Suburbs are now priority (I wouldn't lot 141 lots for nothing)

Too tired to do responses right now... Next time, promise.

UPDATE: Apparently I'm the first to ask to have a CJ brought from the archives... So I'm forced to wait, though reading through this makes me really want to reward my readers' wonderful comments with a big fat update (the city literally doubled in size). Update when it's back.

Title: Re: flame1396's Eyecandy [Update: 06-30-08] 50 pics
Post by: flame1396 on June 30, 2008, 07:56:42 PM
My computer is back! I am officially OFF hiatus. So here's a 50 pic update. Well, actually it's 45-some-odd pics... but 50 sounds better!

I was gone because my computer had an eff up. Needed a OS wipe and reinstall and I lost everything but my documents (managed to get that salvaged )...

Also, I did the ACT again. Broke the 30s this time! *dundunana can't touch this dunananaaa* Getting mail from bigshot universities like Ohio State  ;D ... Also did my AP exams since my last update. AP Literature went well and AP US History I'm not 100% sure about, no scores so far.

Oh yeah, my Dental Surgery went well today, no more wisdom teeth -"Confuchnid say.... uhh..."- But it hurts like a mother and 800mg Ibuprofen and ???mg Vicodin have been prescribed, hopefully the Vicodin I just had will do better than the Ibuprofen an hour ago. Can't eat a darn thing all week too.

So on to the update... I've been busy for the week since I got my computer back, FINALLY - took forever because my mother's colleague (she teaches) was doing it for really cheap in his spare time. I added a quarter tile to the north of downtown and filled out some other parts. I'll start off with the OLD region picture:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0029-1.jpg&hash=c7303e961e6ec9a03337fdd8d7f9f285628d0ec7)
Old, and much much smaller than now.

ON to the new region shots:

...or maybe I should ignore you all for a week and post a teaser instead. NAH. "Don't tease me, bro"
I'll ZAP that idea. (pun, if not as clever as I think, can be blamed on the Vicodin... if it is funny, that's all me!)

As for the above, photobucket takes a while for 46 pictures to upload ya know. DEAL WITH IT  :D

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0000-7.jpg&hash=b3c31f45a21d51d8eb766a5056f1e9aea51bb948)
Normal

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0001-6.jpg&hash=1ccfd5ba0935c0b31a4e1d69b7e85b77746af7ed)
Transit, probably hard to see the rail as it follows the highway most of the time.

These pictures are from the new city above the downtown tile. The last 10 or so are from the downtown tile, none from the other one. Sorry.

Kind of a general overview, I forgot to use a highway exit so that'll get fixed ASAP

Suburb including many of my 100-something custom suburb lots. Each house holds 5 people max. Realism baby! If you PM me I may email them to you if you have a fat dependency folder, mostly BSC prop and texture packs and the maxis building prop sets, I won't help you with prop sets. They're designed only to grow in the Chicago tileset so I don't get bothered with them when building other stuff (I assigned most other buildings to the other tilesets unless they were more than 2 tiles deep - the houses are all 1x1 or 1x2).

Organized communities (SOMY) used as the last bit of the midrise to suburb transition.

Community college, among some rowhomes and duplexes.

Some more sexy midrise. Diamond ramp to be added, forgot about those when I built this. The intersection is so unrealistic.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0010-3.jpg&hash=81ceb23276b8bbaa761ad1cb9154b03d471a3d28)

Main train hub for this suburb. Probably not getting to capacity. (Everyone uses highways on buses)

Very trick spot to fill, triangular spots always are... I was originally going to grow a hotel there but this strip mall popped up and I kept them. (That is one of 2 grown commercial lots in the whole region - the other one is the pink lot in the right of this picture).

As bad as the housing gets really... even the low wealth population gets tree-lined streets. I could build a real dump if I wanted too... but no.

Some rowhomes, part of a set pictured and ranted about below...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0019-3.jpg&hash=58879fccd456e96bd34e1362d1bc365ab93ba343)
Some rowhomes, the biggest pain to grow this set: 40 simmed years of grow and blow until I gave up and let some lower wealth ones pop in (the gray and white ones), the red ones are mid wealth. It still looks good... better than what I wanted really... SC4 can be funny like that.

Hope you enjoyed my looooong update... Was gone for a while.

Big thanks to thundercrack83 for bending the rules (sorta) and reactivating my archived MD.  :)

Replies to previous feedback done later I guess never for now because the general stuff dealt mostly with moving to ST (no, lost my software so I can't do my plans, too lazy anyway) And thank you for kind feedback and useful criticism.

You can download the streets w/ trees mod from the LEX on this website, it is by JeroniJ, I believe it is called the street-side mod.

So here's a teaser for next update. Industry!

Started up pretty small and the industrial sector of the city won't be all that big anyway, just big enough. I think about it and realize how close to being done with all midrise I actually am. Then it's just burbs and rural left (not sure how fast rural'll be though... Plopping it all you know...) and I'll have my first complete region!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0002-6.jpg&hash=ff05eb7c5af2f0cb971fc58e0b2b3a32418f47b1)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0001-7.jpg&hash=e4e1e98ba4b24ce1a8168bbb7b43a8e4cfb696dd)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu94%2FMedievalKnieval%2Fimg0000-8.jpg&hash=5d03fe8804f4f6d693c201bc611abe3b4aced5b3)

And, a question for the readers! Do you think I have built enough midrise so far (assuming I'm going to fill out the remainder to be about the same size as the current amount I have built) to be realistic in proportion to downtown size? And do you think a block of suburbs roughly twice the radius of the midrise will be enough to keep the good proportion going?

@ derwilly: The industry and commercial is plopped but all of the apartments and houses are growables. And it does take a while. Thank you.  :)
