It relies on the US army for protection. in return, anyone Tropicanians who want to fight sign up in the US army. Atlantis City is a resort town located north of the capitol. It contains the islands second largest airport, and one of the largest resort districts in the world. Two of the islands most popular beaches are located here, along with a popular golf course. about 6000 people live in this town, tourist always outnumber citizens here. Atlantis city is considered the "gateway" to Krio Island, named after the legendary cheese grater enthusiast. i will name places after more people on ST/devotion soon.

East Tropicana is a gigantic suburb of 20,000, that is still growing. it is known for its long avenue that features some of the best shopping in the country. it contains a busy cruise port, and a legendary historic district, full of rowhomes and bars, that was first built in 1598 by the legendary explorer Glenni the Viking (haha ). The Mjig Atolls are located off the coast of East Tropicana, and are a popular spot for tourists and cruise ships.

Tropicana is the capitol of the island. Its famous skyline runs across the JVLM Channel and is constantly growing. its Oceania District contains beaches, hotels, apartments, and the world famous Dmscopio Feild, also known as "The Turtle" where the national soccer (football) team plays there games (matches ). In the central district, the fun stuff can be found. this district contains the city aquiariam, city zoo, the Cheese Grater Administration Building, the stunning modern baseball stadium known as Teemu Stadium, Central Park, City Hall, the City library, the island police headquarters, The Jacqualina Hospital, Tonks Station, and the Schulmanator Convention Center.

Pats, so hey- Tropicana looks really nice... just what an Alaskan needs- a tropical MD! I'd find a slope mod and lose the edgy tone, but that's just me. Usual solid stuff, though- I'm a fan.

If you asked me: the buildings on Tropicana 1.6 don't fit together, they are too different... I know those are all hotel buildings but...too many diffrent styles make it look unnatural
why do you photoshop the water, if you know it looks strange...hmm beacause it really looks mysterious...

Urban-yep, i dont understand why the beaches do that, but luckily hotdogs taught me how to fix it. Im not good with building styles, so im guessing it probably does look odd, but just so you know, i was aiming for a vegas feel, with all sorts of wacky colorful hotels and casinos. Water was photoshopped because of the beach problem, but now its fixed so we are good on that. i suppose i do need to thicken those woods a bit more. thanks for the comment and tips

here i tried making beaches super bright and city super contrasty....unfortuantly my mouse hand isnt that steady so there are darker patches near the top of the beach. Its tough to see the mistakes though thank god. *waits for imageshack to pick up the pace*

You seem to be having a lot of fun with this MD and Photoshop in general - especially with all of the one-liners and immature jokes.
As for having rich people live "by the tracks" (to quote your own words here 2 updates back) Simcity seems to do stuff like that a lot. I'm currently building a small town in which a lot of rich people live by the town's old mill, as opposed to away from it.

kudos to hotdogs for originally teaching me this.
To start, open up your simcity picture.
go
new layer-set the opacity to 60, the higher number the heavier rain, but i think you want it no higher than 70.
render-clouds
add noise-check monocronomic or somthing, im not sure, but just find an option thats somthing like that and select it.
Now do a motion blur diagonally with a 70 degree angle.
you now have rain.

tropicana really turned out to become better and better. It is more tropical then it has been in the beginning.
I like the dense trees with teh palms, it makes it looking green and nice :)

Synopsis-
This is the story of the colonization and independance of Tropicana. It will take place from many point of views/places. The first update is third person in Spain. The second one will be third person in a mayan city. The first update won't feature many pics, seeing as its an introduction to the story.

Chapter 1-A New World
Madrid, Spain
April 26, 1501

"Good Morning my king. I come to you regarding exploration of the new world." A tall conquistador, in shining armor, knelt down before the throne. He was covered head to toe in spanish miltary clothing, with a map in his hand and a sword in his belt. His name was Christian Ferdinand Saboya (1), and he, like most young spaniards, wanted to gain wealth and glory in this mysterious new world.
Just 8 years earlier, Christian, then a 16 sailor, had his world flipped upside down. His father died at war, and Christopher Columbus made one of the most startling discoveries ever. A whole new continent. Settled by vicious savages (2). Immense wealth and fortune awaiting those who dared to make the voyage. Christian knew how tough and dangerous it was, but at that moment, he knew what he wanted to do with his life. A year later, at 17, he signed up for the military. His natural skill with a sword and gun, combined with his incredible work ethic, made a good impression on his superiors. Quickly he rose as high as one so young could go, until he found himself the highest ranked officer ever at the age of 24. Still low ranked to lead the voyage, Christian decided he felt ready to approach the king and queen about his goal.
Back in the palace, King Ferdinand spoke. "and what would you like to ask regarding the new world? would you like to go join a voyage?". "No, my king, I wish to lead one."
"I shall think about this, Saboya. I beleive you are capable of it, but this journey is so expensive!" the king said. His wife, queen Isabella, added,
"Ferdinand. You can't be serious! To waste this kind of money on a journey like this being led by an officer of this rank and age is foolish!".
"I garuntee for every coin you give to my voyage, you will receive four coins in return by the time i get back! I know I am capable your magisty. Give me the chance!".
King Ferdinand sat in his thrown. The dedication of the young soldier had impressed him immensly. He whispered quietly with his wife for a few moments, as the rest of the room held its breath. "I have made my decision!" he announced. "We will finance a small voyage to the new world of 50 men and the leader. If after 6 months, the journey is still sucessful, we will send 3 ships containing settlers and more conquistadors.
Mission successful. Christian bowed and left the room with a smile. He had done it. Now he had to get a boat and a crew.

1-This name was made from our spanish friend austrianu's name, plus the name of the king of spain in 1500, and the last name i believe is a place, since it is at the end of the name "Amadeo I of Saboya" who ruled from 1869-1873. Fun stuff eh?
