Database of Downloaded Items

Hi, I don't know if this would be of interest to anyone but here goes.  Years ago I was able to dabble a bit in Windows Access (a program I am not advocating, don't own, and would no longer be able to use in any case).  But the principle of the program got me thinking about how it would be nice to be able to build a data base of some kind where I could access downloaded files by author, category (Transportation, Parks, Commercial, etc.) and any other section.  If there is something already like this, than as Emily Latella used to say, "Never Mind." But what is it?  In any case just a thought.  Thanks Steve
