Quoteand you make a few modifications in the TF. Are you decent at it? We could release it as a joint venture, and it would be fabulous!

I don't use the TF much, but I mainly specialise in coastlines and river systems. Not good at mountains, unfortunately. :P

Hmmm...  Did someone say hand-terraforming mountains, coastlines and river systems?  Hmmm?

;D

It seems Gary has some sort of auto-search feature enabled to track down the term "hand-terraforming." Like a master watching over it's puppets! Thanks for the support Gary, whether from close or afar, it's nice to know you're keeping an eye on things!

SA: The map I speak of is just lacking a little direction. I'm looking for something to do with just the mainland, but you've got roadways on the brain (NAM guru)! I may pass it over to one of our teammates (SC4TF masters) for some additions. NHP FTW!

If only I could of done the amazon map at the properscale.

I do coastlines well but when it comes to mountains I have trouble.  I leave them as raw as possible I prefer it raw for the mountains. Also there is no right awnser when it comes to scaling a real world map verticaly(elevation) if the land has been scaled.

I used 20 m elevation steps in the image then smoothed the river beds in SCTF for the missing data.

We gotta do a project sometime. King of the mountains and King of the rivers/lakes.

It would be awesome.

Why, yes, I did. :P

I'm pretty good at those things in the SC4 built-in terraformer. :P

That IS true... but I can do a map if you want... :P

SA - May look to do a joint project with you sometime in December/January. I'm interested to see your skills on the old fashioned terraformer. Also, to get your name on an NHP map would be awesome! Different styles produce different results... We shall see, eh?

In the meantime, I've got a new upload to share with the community:

Little bit of a change of plans. This project was something I had dug out of the back of my hard drive. I had given up on it. About to throw it away, I asked blade2k5 if he would like to try his hand at some modification to the map. VOILA!!! Pure genius! Not only that, but the map gets some custom hand made canals to go with the awesome scenery.

This map was a blank river/land template. I dropped some mountains on it from my Columbia River Valley map. I then threw in Manhattan Island (NW area) on there, and the Sleeping Giant (SE Area). I did some work on the map, but it was fairly flat. blade2k5 came in and saved this map from oblvion.

It should be a map for everyone. It's all 1:1 scaled, despite being a fantasy map (1:1 because of the regions I superimposed over it).

Try it out, and get back to me. Hope you guys enjoy this project!

I like how the canals turned out, they look great, but then again I'm biased since I'm the one who added those in.  That's about the only feature I added to an already stunning map.  They do look better than the canals from the Four Rivers Dale map I did some months back.  I'm actually looking forward to developing this map and see what I get.  Should be a lot of fun.

The majority of maps shown in this thread can be found on the SC4DLEX. The link is here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/

You will need to create an account there. Once your account's been created, just login to the LEX. Then, look down the left side of the screen for a drop-down menu called 'Map - Terraformer' (there are more maps in 'Map - Standard') and hit the Search button under the drop-down list. These maps should show up there.

As for my maps, I don't have any (seeing as I haven't created any :P) on the LEX.

Alright, Besk.  Enough is enough.  It was "bad" enough that Heblem started a thread of his beautiful map archives and then YOU had to post (actually you posted first but who's keeping track...) your latest team effort with Blade.  What an absolutely gorgeous map the two of you have collaborated on.  I am so very impressed with it and the quality which the two of you consistently produce.

Great map by two great mappers!

Gary

I have a new project!! It's Mt. Shasta located in Northern California.

The map is a 9x9 design (2305x2305).

The map is okay. It's aggressive, with lots of terrain variation. But I was needing something more, so I went ahead and modified the landscape. This was the result:

This map is also of 9x9 design. Seeing perhaps some wasted space, I proceeded to trim it down even further:

This one is 6x8 (1537x2049). The shorelines I created use quite random directions, so the results are acceptable.

I'm looking at uploading the 9x9 land version, and the 6x8 water version as seperate uploads.

Anyways, thanks for looking, guys.
