Very detailed rural scenes. I like them.
I must find a place in my region to make a similar waterfall.
Visit my MD, welcome to Archipelago

Battlecat

What an impressive start!  I love you details!  Those waterfalls are stunning!

Alex: Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the compliments!

Scott: Glad you like it! Not enough pubs for me though  ;)

Dantes: Thanks, though not sure what you want to drag  :D

Noah: Thanks for the kind words! I regret not using wide radius curved rail actually, it does look a lot better. Glad you liked the quarry too!

kodlovag: Thank you sir! Good luck with those waterfalls!

Battlecat: Thanks Battlecat, glad to know my humble work is enjoyed!

Today we'll take a look at two notable bodies of water in the district; Calhoun Gully Falls and Lake Connelly.
Calhoun Gully Falls, brought to you by mosaic:

#1

One of the most successful businesses in Water Orton is based at Lake Connelly, just southwest of the town:

#2

#3

50 years ago Harold Brown Snr started a trout fishing business at Finn's landing, which still stands today:

#4

His son took over the business and developed it from supplying fresh fish to the local markets and expanded the business to include a canning factory:

#5

#6

#7

#8

And here is the label that is synonymous with Water Orton:

#9

My apologies for that stunningly poor joke, hope you otherwise enjoyed this update!

Next up: A quick tour of some outlying villages, farms and a bridge crossing to our next destination!

Battlecat

Stunning update once again!

QuoteNice start.

I'll second that.  Three solid pages in two weeks.

Excellent work, keep it up!  &apls  The rail land bridge looks particularly great but my favorite might be the flower ad  :D ;D ;D

EDIT: haha, posted on each others MDs literally within seconds of each other!

Noah: Thanks! Funny that, I am an admirer of your work too!

ricardomiranda Many thanks sir!

Cofton Hackett is the largest settlement in the St Andrews region and is notable for it's industry.

#1

In the late 1970's a handfull of local business men exploited a loophole in the Parish laws restricting building. The result was a massive boom in industrial production for the region.
Today we'll look at the manufacturing area of the town:

#2

#3

#4

And a warning, this may be one of the only times you see a Maxis building in my CJ!

#5

Some of the manufactured goods are exported by road. Many thanks to Paeng for his modular truck parks:

#6

#7

The rest is exported via freight rail. Again, thanks to Paeng for his wonderful freight stations:

#8

#9

#11

#12

And finally, just in case anyone was missing the nature shots:

#13

Thanks for all your comments and feedback!

Next Up: Cofton Hackett's Central Business District.

That last shot is class!  &apls

+ the bridge, specifically the detailing under it is very nice!

I like how you mix the trees in your rural areas, that makes a huge difference!

thanks for the links ;D and enjoyed the updates.

More please!

lak47: Thanks! Next update will feature a few more of those kind of rural shots!

Aaron Graham: Thank you!

io_bg: Thank you! I'm pretty proud of how that shot came out.

WalkerBD1: Thanks for the compliment!

As the industry grew in Cofton Hackett, the population and commercial interests of the town increased too. This has led to the development of a CBD of sorts with a small number of office developments located in the centre of town:

#1

#2

A number of apartment blocks have also been built here, although they were constructed more for practicality than their aesthetic qualities:

#3

#4

Despite the presence of these tall, imposing buildings , most of the retail here is still locally owned:

#5

#6

#7

#8

#9

With a larger population comes a greater need for medical care, here in the shape of St Mark's Hospital (Maxis Alert  ::) ):

#10

And finally, what CBD update would be complete without a few night shots:

#11

#12

#13

#14

Thanks for viewing and commenting!
Apologies for the small graphical glitching on some of the shots, I was forcing Anti-Aliasing on my graphics card and didn't realise it caused this problem...
(And a note to Skimbo: Yes I still left that horrible yellow plantation farm in there  ;D )

Next up: We'll take a look at the old town and a stroll through some of the scenic highlights of the area.

Cofton Hackett isn't only industry and commerce. To the north of the downtown lies the original village centred around the church and small vinyard. Sadly only a small residential area and a handfull of small farms remain now:

And a little of the nearby countryside:

And a short walk from the town to a small lake:

Thanks to all viewers and commentators, hope everyone likes the rural tour!

Next up: A bridge over murky waters!
