Well, a momentary delay as I cannot get my pictures to upload to the host site. Hopefully I'll have this resolved within an hour or so. Sorry for the delay.

Challenge 3!

PART I

First things first, here is the map. I'm choosing to retain the south side because that is where all my development so far has been. The redwood forests which characterize the north practically rule out any hope of attaining a large population, so it makes sense that separatists (ecoterrorists perhaps would be an interesting subplot?) would camp out there. Additionally the south has a more extensive transportation network which fits in more to my urban vision.

Also, Route 9 is shone. It's a short road starting at Sim Nation to the north, connects with Route 10 a little ways south and immediately heads east along the river towards Route 21, where it terminates.

PART II

Okay next up are the town pictures. I didn't have spare time the last two and half weeks so I'm just going to repost the pictures I posted in my gameplay thread, nothing new here. Because I have no developments to the north, you'll just see the main city of Bordertown. I built it there because of its natural inland harbors and the confluence of the rivers which makes it ideal for a transportation hub in the near future. So far only the southwestern shore has been developed; I foresee the southeastern being primarily industrial with the eventual displacement of the farms. The north is entirely forest and is undeveloped.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi249.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fgg237%2Fthe09hutt%2FABordertown%2FOverview1.jpg&hash=87d2120de2b02ccc0221a74575fb32af96aa7300)

Here is the overview of the town. The development up to this point has been entirely on the southwest quadrant, nestled between the Grand River and its tributary the Trosky River. There are some farms and rural areas to the southeast quadrant, which is a major rail intersection into the north. The distinctive spiral is the only one of its kind in the region. To the north lies the massive redwood forests, which remains uninhabited to this point.

A closer shot of the town proper. The population is about 6,500 at the moment, although the downtown area is bustling and busy at all times of day.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi249.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fgg237%2Fthe09hutt%2FABordertown%2FNeighborhood3.jpg&hash=8a0b87bc6802e860bf6dda403f0d00c76ac56e96)

A fog-soaked neighborhood late in the evening. That's right, twenty-four hours of fog is not an uncommon occurrence in this region.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi249.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fgg237%2Fthe09hutt%2FABordertown%2FDowntown4.jpg&hash=d07db928e728495782bbc73ee994a999acf13696)

A shot of the downtown area. There are a number of midrise buildings due to the anticipated growth of the area within a matter of years.

And here is the intersection of Routes 10 and 21. The secondary rail line, which branches off from the mainline just across the Trosky River, passes through as well - you can just make out a bit of the rail station at the extreme upper-right. The Diocese of Bordertown is headquartered in this beautiful cathedral.

PART III:

The meat. There are three bridges in the region, two road, one rail. (I'm going to refer to the series of bridges in tile E as being functionally one bridge). I've decided to keep the road bridge in tile E open as requested, because it is my main town. The rail bridge in tile E has been shut. Separatists simply walked across the bridge to the connecting island, tore up the tracks, built a guard tower and generating station, and have been camping out ever since. It is a literally indestructible position.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi249.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fgg237%2Fthe09hutt%2FABordertown%2Frailcut.jpg&hash=272e665520757ddd58baac3a4472f604188c7d65)

In tile L, the road bridge has been obstructed by a series of enormous boulders. The rebels got creative, using bulldozers to push the natural boulders along the riverbed into position to block the movement of vehicles. It, too, is insurmountable.

I think that's all. Thanks for tuning in!

No worries, it's up. I resolved the problem (had to do with my images being saved to a flashdrive on my other computer). Thanks for your patience.

Thank you for your update.

We have now taken note and copied the pictures of your challenge 3, it will be judged after the deadline.
Now you can do whatever you wish to do within your regionhalf only, but make sure not to overbuild it comparing to the rest of the region. It might give you some serious problems later on.
You do NOT have the right to touch anything of the part that belongs to the Separatists.

Challenge 4 will be partially given by your adversary and you will give a challenge to someone else. Who will be challenging who and the matter of the challenge will be discussed in the Challenge 4 thread once everyone has turned in their part of this challenge.

Are you ready to be told what to do by a Separatist and a Governor? Good luck and we hope you enjoyed this one.

Challenges are getting harder to do, so does the judging, and we soon need more time to judge the challenges. I know this took awhile but we have been working on it for quite awhile and since our judging is being done separately, we have to bring them together before presenting the final results. Thank you for being patient. So here they are.

A.  You had two choices to built your new route and you chose the better one. We gave you 5 points for the route challenge.
B.  Although the bolders are a little too big to have been moved there quickly overnight, the rail cutoff is great. We gave you 4 points for the cutoff challenge.
C.   Your town is starting to kook really nice and organized. We liekd everything except the repetition of plopped lots. Maybe a little too much of the same. We gave you a solid 4 points for the regional works challenge.

A Total of 13 Points were added to your challenge.

Maybe a little less repetition when plopping things in town, but otherwise your region is coming very nicely. Good luck with the separatists.
