Hello planetechef

I like the start of Sakura very much. You pulled off the Asian theme very convincingly and the pictures are nice too look at too.

Good Luck with the diary.

the cherry blossom inspired diffuse glow is exectued well and i love the overall composition of the work.

where did you get that grey stone wall from, is that a maxis based lot edit?

Cool, an Asian City!  &apls

The only thing I want to say is that maybe you can make youre grinds paths a littlie bit smaller. Compared to the houses they are very big!

Oh my!

This is absolutely gorgeous. You don't see too many East Asian MDs around, and you have substantially filled that gap.

Hope to see some more soon.

Fantastic stuff! It's always nice to see non-European building styles in an MD. It's refreshing and I'm sure you've got a lot of ideas to make a really interesting Mayor diary. My one criticism would be the lack of people in your pictures - I think adding a few in and around the streets and fields would really make it come to life.

I'm looking forward to the next update!

That's some very beautiful detailing you're displaying here, it really shows you give every gridsquare care and attention.
Tree placement, farms, types of roads, paths, all beautifully balanced to perfection. Excellent presentation too!
It must be taking enormous amounts of time, getting all that custom content together, building it all with so much attention to detail, and then preparing the updates.... very well done!

Very very nice update again!
I think you did a great job at placing those appartment buildings, and the way you created enough 'breathingroom' for them.
Your object placement is so natural and balanced, and even with the more bland and brown appartmentbuildings you manage to create a lovely friendly atmosphere. Indeed looks like a place where people would like to live!

This is probably the best representation of a japanese city i've seen! It's very good and I love the atmosphere you've created. It really looks nice how there are so many green spaces between apartments and all that but, japanese cities are REALLY dense and most residential developement is built up right next to each other (I hear the square centimeter is expensive there). That is the only thing that is keeping me from saying it's a perfect representation. It still looks beautiful though and it would actually look better if you keep it as is.

I have a question, where are you getting those mid-rise apartments in your last few updates? Like the small ones with a green roof on the second picture or the tall whiteone in the first picture. And lastly, how about the red footpaths with trees on them that you used extensively in your last update?

Congrats on the OSITM!

Well deserved as I may state. Love what I saw in the last updates. Even thoug I havent been in Japan (would love to go ther though) I like the way you went into a japanese style MD. Not much unrealistic stuff (saw quite a lot of them on thenumerous japanese pages) but solid work, every day housing, colorful commercial - just great!

I love especially the small houses in the last updates with the concrete paths to the back houses.

Takle care my friend!

Bernhard

These last two updates are great again! I love the little playgrounds and parks between those medium sized resedentials. Some of them are a bit darkish brown, but they fit surprisingly well. I also like the commercial parts in your last update, great realism again! Your journal is a joy to follow  :)

Post by: Nardo69 on April 26, 2010, 05:38:08 AM
Would I surprise you if I said that this is an update that perfectly fits my taste? Most probably not ...  ::)   :D

Nice choice of railway stations. Some of them wouldn't fit in my european style MD however you put them into their right environment!

May I ask you for the link for the elRail station in the first and the sunken heavy rail station in the third picture? Haven't seen them at all by now!

I just would change that retaining wall in the third pic at the sunken railway station. Either you plop the japanese one that is used for the station or you use one of the BuddyBud / JeroniJ standart straight lot; the ending lot with the greenery just don't fit there.
Another option would be to change the texture and the ballustrade of the BuddyBud Bridge lots to fit the the japanese walls. Even for a beginner or an ol'donkey like me that shouldn't take too long!

Take care

Bernhard

HA! Bernhard, if there is a train in one of anyones pics you are happy.

But planetechef, I have to agree with him.  Try opening up PIM_X or LE and try changing the base texture to match either wall so that it continues on seamlessly.
 As usually though....awesome update.

hi, i have a tendency to lurk in allot of MDs without commenting, but after looking through yours i can't leave without commenting! your pictures are amazing. the custom buildings and your unique style are great. your rural as well as your city areas are both beautifully laid out. everything looks smooth and seemless. The airport looks great!  Although, the runways in that one picture look too close together.  The peach-fuzzy effect you did back in Update 11 make it seem aged, like 1970's photographs.

That little town looks GREAT! I loved the train station, and the side parking lot as well. You use a great mix for your flora and trees :)

Well, i deleted by mistake my Sakura region during a game, i downloaded a new map that took place on top of Sakura one, when i deleted this new map, i didn't realize that i deleted also Sakura map, so bad  :'( so i don't give up and i will work on a new land for Sakura who will be located on a island and will become a new business and vacations spot in Asia, a little like Singapore.

Nice, the new one will look like Singapore you say, I like it  :D (currently, staying in Singapore)
Can't wait to see how it will look!

I was very surprised as well when planetechef PM'd me about what happened with the MD, but everyone should think that sometimes with new beginings comes new and much better work.  I can't wait to see what comes of this new start.
Good luck planetechef!

Robin
