I've searched through this part of the forums and I can't seem to find a comprehensive list of all the available train automata plugins. Has one ever been made?

I might as well show my interest in this myself.  ;)

Depending on your time, a list of all skins would be nice: Passenger, freight, GLR/El-rail, HSRP/Mono. But first and foremost the first three.
Btw I noticed a thread discussing the possibility of a reskin of the in-game steam locomotive. I got the feeling that this was possible. Do you have a list of such reskins as well?

But again: Only if you've got time.

Wow, great job, bob56 and Pat! This is exactly what I had in mind.

Perhaps all these skins could be organized by type (passenger, freight, el/sub, HSRP) to make browsing a little easier, though you don't have to. Thanks again!

I made some light rail trains / trams for the GLR/EL.

VDK GLR Tram Mods Package Vol 01 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=337)
One unit mods, where you can have more than one mod installed.

VDK GLR Tram Mod Package V2 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=55)
Multi unit mods. Here you can only have one skin installed at a time.

This is a fantastic list!  Thanks for doing this.  One question I have though, and I'm sure it is a pretty basic DUH! kind of question, but here goes.  Some of these simply reskin the existing trains, but other add more trains.  Can I download a bunch of these skins and have them randomly appear on the in game trains?  Sorry if this doesn't make much sense.  Tired I am.

Some are replacements, such as the Regional Runner Set I made (linked above in the table) which replaces the models that the game uses for the Passenger Train. Others like the Jestarr Train Set are additional files and don't replace anything. All files that add additional train cars/engines to the game can be used at the same time, provided none of them have the same ID's as other mods. Only one replacement file can be used at a time for any train type. Read the Readme files that come with the mods to determine which ones will work with others installed. If there aren't Readme files, you will just have to try them and see.

For example, you can't use a mod that makes the Passenger Train look like an Amtrak with the Regional Runner Set, which also alters the Passenger Train models.

This is a nice list.  Iv'e tried several of them, yet I have not had any success with getting the little green "train checkers" as I think they are called, to go away.

Anyone have a train that would work in an amusement park type setting similar to the actual trains they use in places like Busch Gardens and Disneyland/Disney World?

Somewhere out there, Rayden made a BNSF C44-9W replacement for the Maxis Steam (Vapor) Engine. That should have the TGI in it, or if you could point me where to check within the Reader, I could let you know.

I only found a map and a power plant from Rayden on the STEX.

Are you thinking about the C44-9W from i-photon ? Sadly it only replace the in-game GP38  /wrrd%&.

Do you remember where you've seen that MOD ?

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to install two train skins together in Sim City 4, or if a file or lot could allow two different trains working together in the game as shown in the following picture?

Also, I'm looking for a train skin called the Tokyu 5050 series that was created by APTX user. Unfortunately its website was shutdown and the link to this train skin is no longer available. Here's a picture showing the Tokyu 5050 series:

but here goes anyway...
Its possible to have more than one train skin installed: one replacement and several additional mods.
There is no way, to control them, they will be mixed together.

In general about the APTX. Haven't heard about another place to download any of his mods.
Keep an eye on the sub forum: Japan, so far, so near -- 遠いようで近い国、日本 (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=132.0)

I know it's the wrong thread to talk about this, but here it goes:

It was said in the previous page that two train mods for passenger rail could be used in the game by modifying the IID's for both models.

Try to read once more what I wrote. Its more or less the same.


Let me clearify that a little.
If you install say a red train mod and a blue train mod.
The game will mix up the cars, so trains will have cars that is red and cars that is blue, all at random.

This must be related to the structure of the game itself, right?

I mean, when SimCity 4 was first released, it wasn't designed so it can have two or more train skin installed together because originally there was only one train mod which was the Maxis one. How disappointing! It would have been more realistic if we could have two or more train skin installed at the same time without having any conflict between them...

I was wondering, because it's not in this list of train skins and I've been looking for it for some weeks, has somebody made a train skin of the New Jersey Transit (NJT) multilevel train cars?

Also, the Montreal trains (AMT) seem to have the exact same multilevel cars:

If you did have a look at the mod posted, you would find several.

BRF did quite some:

BRF Amtrak California Passenger Train Set
BRF Trolca Transit Authority Passenger Train
BRF GO Transit Passenger Train Set 3.01


maybe more.....

Its faster to go through the list and open the download pages.
You might find some in there you didn't expected.

Start doing some leg work.

The engine are one of Girafes own work, that he has not released. The wagons are just props (http://www.toutsimcities.com/downloads.php?view=1573).
