Music Composition? You should have gone with civil engineering or city planning!  :D And I think we've all mentally re-engineered a road at at least some point!

Wow. That looks like a nice little place to live. Is there a single Maxis building (besides utilities) in that entire town?

BTW, I'm jealous of the third picture...  :(

This was a nice diversion, but I, for one, can't wait to get back to highways...

When someone posts pics like that and then contemplates posting something... interesting... I can only imagine, and eagerly await what's in store. The suburbs continue to impress as does the area in general. I didn't know you had a Masters in Music Composition (congratulations on that) but if you wanted, you could think about joining up with the plalnning division for the city (they'd be lucky to have someone with your eye). At any rate, looking forward to what's next.

Hi Tarkus,

I noticed that in your 2nd photo, you have a road T-intersection, are you using the Road Turning Lane plug-in, or is it the new modified one from jplumbey, just curious.

Your'e cities are so realistic, and its amazing how you started out small, and gradually grew it into a bigger city.

The map is looking very good, the pictures in this wonderful update as well!

Alex, that was a very pleasant trip through Peninsula City, made even better by being able to follow the route on a good map. I wasn't able to find a 16th Avenue/Penrose Drive intersection, but the Pinecrest roundabout was easy to spot.

Overall, you've created a very appealing little community on the peninsula that looks like a nice friendly place to live. As for the roads, you've changed the way I look at transport networks in game. And I've even started looking at real maps as I think about developing a new region. I'll never be a "road geek," but you've helped me be more observant and thoughtful, so I'd say that's a bit of progress!

Doing this David (dedgren)-style . . . heh!  You caught me there--late night brain lapse I guess.  Though that road was at one point called 16th when I started building the city, but as I do sometimes when initially numbering streets, I sometimes re-evaluate things when roads are close to the block lines. The actual intersection there is 15th and Penrose.  I've adjusted it accordingly. -Alex

It's interesting Argentum the name, the name becomes from where the silver is located, just of curiosity is your city named by that?

As for Costa Norte Peninsula looks greats, reminds me to somewhere i can't remember, lol

Hey Alex, look where I am, do any of those exits sound familiar? Oh yeah thats right, this is the hwy you were building. (Or I have invaded your city for real) Thanx to that semi, I bet I'm going to be boxed in all the way past the off ramp. I have been stuck here for 2 hours, traffic is only moving 15mph. This would be funny if it wasn't real, but unfortanetly in real life, traffic jams can't be avoided, it seems.

Wow... I missed two updates??  I should check your MD more often!   ;)

I am liking your development, Alex.  Those asphalt streets really blend in with the surroundings, and its tempting me to try the SAM sometime.
-You also use the NAM curves to a great extent, and I have to say that it looks fantastic!  Very realistic!

And of course that TLA (or NWM now?) is quite a tease.  I like the gradual transition to road as well.

Anyways, I am looking forward for more!  Keep up the great work!

Best,
-Haljackey

Looks great Alex. I just love Peninsula City as I love small towns. Will be waiting patiently for the next update. JKB

Great work Tarkus, amazing that you can do things like actually play the game when you do so much for the NAM and now administrating this excellent website. Peninsula city is pretty good, has an unfinished feel to it, I'd feel the need to add seawalls or something (though I'm the hardcore-urban-mapfiller-type). The usage of uncommon terrain mods adds to the unique atmosphere you create, definitely due to your unique playing style.

Note to readers--all off-topic discussion on VMS signs has been removed.  -Alex
The most astounding and unique aspect of the human race is our fervent application of our ingenuity to kill each other, thus completely defying the near-universally proven fact that the ultimate goal of a member of a species is to ensure the survival of the species.

Been awhile since I last commented here, but I really like the way you develop the various cities  :)

Congratulations, Alex! I'm sure you'll do a great job in the spotlight this month. You've certainly piqued my interest in transport systems, and maybe one of these days I'll make it to the first level - "Street Geek!" Road, avenue, RHW and all that other upper-level stuff might take a bit longer, but everybody has to start somewhere!

Looking forward to more...

The great comments you get here, Alex, are right up there with your updates- and your (all too few, my friend) updates are right up there with the best of any "brain candy" MDs out there.  It takes the right stuff to sustain a high maintenance (idea and innovation-wise) MD for a year- my guess is that you'll be chalking up year two before you know it.  TC is one of those "place" MDs that really brings the reader into whatever locale you've written into the ongoing story- I know I am only one of many checking back in often to see if you've given us something more to look at.

Congrats, my friend (and congrats as well on your appointment as an admin- hey... it's not all hearts and flowers, but somebody's got to do it) and the best of luck to you during the month ahead.
