The LEX has undergone some cosmetic surgery today ... the main page changed a bit and you can now see some stats under the LEX info. We also changed the one icon in the download history ... Green now means you are OK ... ;D
We also fixed the problem with STRIP images in the UPLOADS.
Cool
just a quick question I cant seem to find the upload Button. Where is it?
I am sure you can see it now ... ;)
Ok the LEX went through some changes in the past two days ... some is visible and some is not ..
Biggest news today is that the LEX took another step in making your Custom Lot Management a bit easier ...
We have employed a new secretary ...
When you browse the Listview of the lots you will get an option to Add the file to your Download List ... she will add it for you and you can check your Download List anytime to see what you still have to take ...
We implemented this specifically for those of you that browse the LEX from the office but wants to Download the stuff when you are at home ... now you can manage that properly ...
Thank you for your support and please consider using our PayPal button ... that will help us make more things happen and pay the Secretary for her services to the LEX ... $%Grinno$%
I have forgotten ... if you click LATEST in the LEX you will see under the Catalog view Header Title a link that says "List view" ... that is how you can get the list view.
So, could you tell the secretary to bring me a cup of coffe ?... &Thk/( .... wiht that Tshirt and riding the BMW ::)
Ok ... I will ask her ... I am sure she will be happy to do it.
I'd prefer if she left the T-shirt off, myself :D :D :D :D
Colyn, can you start feeding me these templates so I can integrate them a bit more with the site design...I needed a St Bernhard to find the list view link :D :D :D....see my post at the BSC homestead.
Do you think I could get her number?
So much chirping about the girl and nothing about the nice features ... you guys are spoiled ... ::)

LOL Colyn, did you really expect something else? :D
I - for myself - wouldn't know what to do with her appart from telling her to bring me some coffee, at most some smalltalk $%Grinno$% :P

Hey, you're the one that took around 10,000 photos of her, so who's the one who's spoiled? :D :D :D :D

I am going to have to agree with Praiodan on that one. :P Thanks, nonetheless, for great features that I've already utilised!
I love this site and the LEX! &apls &apls &apls
Nice pic!! Thats for sure... is she your sister?
Anyways.... That will be a very useful tool Colyn and thanks for the GREAT work you have done. I was wondering, maybe it would be useful if you made a spreadsheet looking thing where uploaders will input the actual stats of the lots they are uploading. Like Occupancy Satisfied, Occupancy Type, Pollutions etc. It will make the lots look a bit more professional I think. And it will give users a good understanding of what they are downloading (if they read it... I know I would).
Hi JP, if you use SC4Tool's readme generator, the following stats are added to the readme....
Growable:
Lot size:
Building style(s):
Growth stage:
Occupants:
Bulldoze cost:
Worth:
Construction Time:
Max. Fire Stage:
Power consumption
Water consumption
Air pollution
Water pollution:
Ploppable:
Lot size:
Menu position:
Jobs:
Plop cost:
Bulldoze cost:
Monthly cost:
Park effect:
Landmark effect:
Max. Fire Stage:
Power consumption:
Water consumption:
Air pollution:
Water pollution:
Garbage pollution:
So all the user has to do is copy/paste into the description...job done without cluttering up the database with new fields/tables.
I was just getting ready to post and say I thought she had some VERY nice features!
The new stuff on the site is cool too! Thanx.

LEX is getting better and better every day. Well done guys. &apls
Today we tweaked the "Download History" list for you guys that have many pages of history ...
At the top of the page you will see two links ...
"Show outdated files" will only show the files that you have that has been updated and that you have not taken the new updates.
"Full History" ... ::)
Thanks, Colyn. The LEX just gets better and better.
:o ... and no Brownie ... :P &hlp :'( ... you guys are so hard to please :D
Jokes aside ... as the LEX grows we can do a bit more to to make things better because we have data to work with and we can see how and where the needs begin to popup.
Ok, I gave you a Karma point :P
&dance
Ah good, the updated files all show up on the first page. Nice job.
What is the significance of all the logos on the some of the pics in the LEX? The first 2 I see have a "Automatic Install Inside" -- is that different than how BSC typically packages its lots? I thought they all had auto-installers. Also, what's B.T.D.?
Those images are from the original upload of the station on the STEX. BTD was a deadwoods logo and there were two versions released - one in an installer and one just in a zip for Mac users. sandrasim1 has only released the installer version hence the logo ;D on the original STEX image.
Yep, I think that falls into the "couldn't be stuffed creating a new pic" category. I'm just reviewing another old BTD package, the Railyar Utility Lots, and doing a bit of cheating to re-use the old pics.
Colyn, I noticed the little feature earlier this evening. Very nice!

I have an on topic question sorry.
How come some lots don't have an option to add to download list?
Have to wait for the boss to answer that one :'(

I have an on topic question sorry.
How come some lots don't have an option to add to download list?
Which ones, or is it random?
Aaah, hang on...are you talking about the first 3 that show up when you enter the LEX? If that's the case it's probably because it's using a slightly different template than the main LEX.
Nope, it's seems to possibly be random. I was looking at Gascookers and wanted to add them to a download list to grab when I got home tonight. None of his appear to have one.
The I clicked most popular to check where it should be as I just thought I was looking in the wrong place and the first 3 on there don't have it, but the rest on the 1st page do.
I just checked and if I do a creator search it appears that none of them have it. That appears to be the problem.
Oh, and I have discovered the cause of the problem I was having with the search function. Normally when I type in a name I hit enter and that gives me the monkey, but if I click the search button it works fine.
You did a search on Gascooker? That's what I've just found, is when the search results come back, there is no link. It must be the template thingy again....Hopefully Colyn will spot this and add to the to-do list.
The updates thingy is bizarre, as they use the same record template. Most odd.
Yes sorry, I had searched Gascooker and thats when I noticed the problem.
Maybe its a Southern Hemisphere thing, 'cos I see the same thing sometimes. That little link is missing from some files. But come back later and it seems to have re-appeared. I assume there's no connection to the record of what you've already downloaded.
EDIT - maybe it does. I've just done a quick page through the Latest lots and the link seems to be missing from the lots I've already downloaded.
Well just checked my files. None of them had the add to download list.
It only seems to be if you do a content creator search. So Vester, if you checked yours by searching your name then the link probably won't be there.
It wasn't lots that I have downloaded, as I haven't downloaded for a while. It was ones I was looking to download.
Yep ... on the Main pages that "Add to Download List" will only available if you have "NEVER" downlloaded that lot ... I did that for old folks like me that sometimes forget what we already have ;) ... no need to add a thing to the Download List if it is already on the "Download History" :P
The LEX is getting better and better. &apls
Can anybody say when the automatic dependancy download will be avaylable?
For me it will be very usefull. I'm always messing up the dependancies.
Keep up the good work
Ok more updates ...
1. User Profile is now active and open. (With some goodies in there.)
2. Uploaders can now see the recent comments on their lots.
3. Admin can now see the RECENT comments on the LEX.
Have fun.
Are these updates for uploaders/admins only? What is user profile?
I just noticed more options in the category search, those are going to make things much easier!
A big round of applause for the little things like that. &apls &apls &apls
One thing that might be a good idea is to have an option to reset your download history (would be handy for those of us who have *ahem* computers that like to crash (or for those of us who can't resist tinkering...
I just noticed there's no thumbs-up icon...
User profiles are visible to uploaders only.
Resettin your HISTORY ... in my view if you should crash your PC ... you History list will be the fastest way to get all your stuff back ... jyst work it down ... we have no RESET features in place for this ... the history was originally designed for admin purposes and it turned out to have advantages for the users as well so it was sort of a spinoff.
The "My Files" and "Recent Comments" have been updated ... this is for UPLOADERS.
The LIST VIEW on pages has been fixed to show more items.
Please check you "Download History" ... a number of packages have been updated.
Thanks.
Is it possible to edit or remove something from your download list without actually downloading it? Like if you add to the list by mistake... or change your mind later... just curious.
JB
Re. the add to down list, I noticed that it showed on things I haven't downloaded for the first two items on the page but not the last item. (Did that make sense? - let me clarify, first row - list, list, no list, 2nd row - list, list, no list, 3rd row - list, list, no list. It's not really a biggie, but a slight annoyance as I had to open them all to make sure I hadn't d/led already)
We will look at it Fred ...
JB that feature will come soon ... we had to develope such a feature for the Tripwired e-shop.
We also found a deeply hidden issue with editing images ... that will be fixed too.
Just a quick question - will the "recently updated" sort feature be returning to the LEX or will those files be found in some different way from now on?
Also, I see that the "power search" option now available allows us to search according to three different categories of... categories... I've experimented around with it some and it seems powerful indeed, but I wonder if a simple keyword search feature would be possible. Not sure how the referencing and cross-referencing works for search options like this...
Primary Point:
Is it unreasonable, at least for the major people, to select the "creators" of the files.. for example I tried to do SOMY on the "power search" and he was not listed. I know I've seen things by SOMY on the LEX..
Secondary Point:
Since I can't search for it, is this lot on the CAM or the downloadables? To the best of my knowledge it is only known as "Condominium1". It may have other names.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg503.imageshack.us%2Fimg503%2F4782%2Fsomycondominium01mu6.jpg&hash=9ed9db590519b7e2f2437220686c9f0494025e1a)
If this is the wrong place for this, feel free to move it with my apologies.
The only names searchable are those who are registered and have uploads in their name. SOMY is not registered but we had his permission to upload his models as packs under the BSC name. Search for BSC and you will find the model packs.
Second point, neither of those lots have been used for CAM and have not been uploaded here.
This might be misplaced and a shot in the dark (last post on thread in 2007), but still:
Is it a "Log off"-button on the LEX..? Not that it's a life and death situation, just wondering.. I like to log off when I'm done, and so far I haven't spotted any..
No there is no Log Off button on the LEX. You are normally logged out when you leave unless you have a browser that stores the last page visited. I have to log in each time I visit.
The login is stored in a cookie, so if you delete the cookie for the LEX, your browser won't log you in automatically when you visit the LEX the next time.
Thanks for the answers. It's really no big deal, I just wondered.. Still have to log on every time, though.
Hi,
because the LEX Wishlist thread is closed, I think this thread comes near to my request:
Would it be possible to add "Last Update" in the view list of LEX? It would be more
helpful instead of "Upload".
Thank you.
I have a quick question..I'm probably mistaken, but at various times hunting for files/dependencies I end up finding cool stuff from different creators that aren't available through the regular channels(advanced LEX search...) it seems like there are more files on the LEX than can be accessed thru the given channels...If so( which seems understandable due to the enormity of the task of dealing with so many files)...is there a way to browse thru them all in a wonderful big messy stack, kinda like STEX appears at times.
