Have started working on a new round of trams. These will be release in a package together with my old lightrail trains.

Looking around the archive I found the old files and decided to revised the Houston Metrorail, becauce the sides on them wasn't to my liking any more.
And when I got going a quickly had a couple of more trains.

Might end up with a few more colours, but that will be it. Then it's back to the cathedral or the harbour bus.

Now we're going to need GLR tracks with them whatchamacallies, er, I think they are called cathenaries, built in.

I could use that for ordinary rail rails, too.

I think you know how much I like your trams  :) and these are very nice indeed.  A totally different feel from the Amsterdam trams I used in Kingly - much more "modern" looking.  Can I be cheeky and ask if it's possible to do one in the colours of the West End falg, i.e. claret and blue.

They would work well in some of the other West End cities that do not have the Amsterdam trams.

Well, it's  quickly because I work with layers in PhotoShop. I just need to change the colours of a few layers.
Some layer are just a solid colour with an alpha.

The Cathedral need a lot more work on the other hand. Got no plan of finish it fast.

Well, first I need a picture, and second I don't take request this time around.

It has nothing to do with BATting. It's more a question of changing the skins.

What do you think, Paroch ?

They're both very good.  I think my preference is the top one.  The light blue on the outside just makes the whole tram look a little brighter.  Just a trick on the eyes I think.

It looks very good so far, i especially like the way you make the windows, using "fake" reflections and interior shots, it makes it look so much better than just having plain blue or grey for windows. :)

These are the trains for the Norfolk-VA Beach line which is called Tide Light Rail. The train which they are using the Avanto Trams by Siemens. The picture of the train they're using is below.

P.S. The colors of the trains are just like the buses pictured below. And the company name is HRT(Hampton Roads Transit)

Not saying I am doing theme, but if I do, it still not going to be a true copy of it. The wave will only be on the first car (the engine) and not on the second, due to the lack of control.
Third: I will not make a special model for it, I will just use the same as shown above.
Second I could use some better pictures. maybe one of the front and some of the side. Straight on the side is preferred.

Am now trying to get some more nightlight on the train. Doing a lot of modding, correcting TGI ect.

Well Arne, what a pic - you should be proud of that one.  GLR station and trams by Vester.

With the way the two trams are passing on the corner, plus the amusing addition of the "body" at the top of the pic, I think that would do very well in the picture competition.

West End is going to be very proud to see those trams zipping around our cities.

Very good work there Arne. As you may have guessed, I like the Berlin S-Bahn colour sheme the most, but actually it's up-side-down with the yellow on the top and the red on the bottom  ;D

I can easy to them around, but at least I got the colour right.

Well, yes that is possible. The length was choicen by one in the NAM a long time ago. Longer cars looked weird going round the sharp 1x1 tile turns there is in GLR.

Especially when I was trying to make a small loop in a curve for some GLR stations so they would fit in a 5x5 block. :D

Well, I told you this in private already, but I guess I should post it here as well... I really liked Arne's (vester's) new tram model, but admittedly, I didn't like the gap between the cars, so I asked if there was something to prevent that. This was when Jan (Swamper77) stepped in and offered his help, with an amazing result as pictured above. Splendid work, you two - you are truly the masters of custom automata. :)

I haven't been in here for awhile....I feel very bad, especially after I look at all these great pics.
I do wonder, though, if it's possible to add some sort of texture so they look not so brand new.  And the white sometimes looks too bright.  Other than that, I love how they look.

These are really great vester. It's hard for me to choose a favourite one. I wonder if you would consider making a replica of the trams in Bordeaux, France. They use a ground level power supply (so no need for the catenary aerials). The look is similar to some you have already produced, but not quite the same.

Though it has a push-me-pull-you type system, I think I speak for the collective when I say that no-one minds the fact that this is impossible to achieve in SC4.

i noticed vesters last reply was in march. i was wondering what the status of the glr trains is?  they really look great.

My plan is release this in a bigger pack. That would include updates the old light rail trains, update to the new standard.
Here I am thinking of some of the old one, which are no longer on line like: Yellow Line, MTS, Houston Metro Rail.
Togther with with the EuroTram inspired skins you see earlier in this thread.

At the moment I am a bit busy at work and my neck is still acting up, but getting better non the less (Well I do hope so).
After that, I am moving to Copenhagen, to the neighbourhood called Vesterbro (http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=55.667976,12.552169&spn=0.018564,0.030899&t=h&z=15). :D

You know how in your previous tram mod (I think) it was also possible to select 'Other Trams'. Could this be done with this mod so that there could be lightrail trains and trams/streetcars circulating at the same time on the same routes?

This is great news, Arne! Never laid eyes on a RL tram in action before, but maybe even an old dog like me can learn a new trick or two! ;)

Sorry can't be done. That was just a one unit mod. That would mean the game would mix up the cars and engine installed at random.

Somehow, this occured me not before today - why on earth is the San Diego Green Line red?  :D

Arne, as I said before, those look fantastic. I really wish that I'll find some time to play the game soon...

Just discover that it's now running on all lines: orange, green and blue, but no red line.

The "Commuter" tram looks great too. The blue and white on the engine looks marvelous. :thumbsup:

I still prefer the design of the Polish one though - maybe I've been on too many of the DLR ones!

For me, it's still new and fresh. ;) I do like the "bike" sign on the doors in particular. Usually, you'd find the bike compartment somewhere in the middle or at the end, but I realize that you can't add it to any tram car, as it would show up everywhere.

I think white head would fit better  ;)
Maybe you will also made painting based on Warsaw trams? Or Krakow, or Poznan?  :D

It's not what I was think of nevertheless it looks great. Even though only the NGTs (http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:NGT8_tramcar_in_Leipzig.jpg&filetimestamp=20090114111722) were painted like this the Classic XXL would have looked marvellous in these colors. It's a pity that the Leoliner (http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Leipzig-Nov-2008_252.jpg&filetimestamp=20081204220704) isn't suitable for SC4 due to its design.
I love that someone creates the Trams of the LVB. I love those Tatras in the LVB colors you made. Unfortunately they are out of service in Leipzig and are waiting for being scrapped not far away from me at the tram depot.:(

When doing automata modeling, just remember the KISS principle: Keep it simple stupid.

If you look at my trams, there some things that could be modeled, but aren't.
It's done with alpha channels on the textures.

As you see it's just planes with textures on. I could have modeled all the pipes, but why ?
BTW: There are two layers, as the textures is transparent seen from the back side.
So an extra layer is needed to get the textures to show from the backside.

I download yout tram as soon as it was realesed and I found a little anomaly: As you can see on the pic above, when the tram stops at the station, the first car (the only one in that case) looks rearward. When the tram is between 2 stations, everything goes back to normal. Have you ever see that ?????

I have seen that with my mods and the sc4 trains as well.

Swamper says that there is nothing to do about it.

I keep on using your tram ( &apls) and never seeing the same result again... Strange.
