As part of the MTP upgrade, the classic Pine Trails have been modified to be "tree-type indifferent". In other words, you can now use them with any trees types you choose. Based upon requests on the support site, the pine tree props have been removed and these new Mountain Trails are now more flexible than ever.

Other modifications include the use of the new blended MTP forest floor texturing along with a new & more subtle 'dirtier' dirt path. These are the same textures used in other MTP lots so they will all blend together quite well. Also, there has been an overall reduction in YIMBY effects  to avoid blowing over caps... and the plop prices have been reduced accordingly. All other aspects of the lots remain the same and they still adapt to sloped terrain extremely well..

The lots already present in the game will update automatically for the most part. Only the pine tree props will remain on the lots until you re-plop them. As any trail lots currently in the game are most likely among pines forests, this should not be an issue.

This Trail Park pack contains these lots:

1. A 1x1 Straight section.  (§10/§1)
* The standard straight piece.

2. A 3x1 straight section. (§15/§2)
* A 3x1 version of the standard straight piece.

3. A Corner section. (§20/§1)
* A standard 90 degree turn or corner section.

4.  A Tee section. (§25/§1)
* A standard 'Tee' or 3-way intersection.

5.  A 4-way section. (§30/§1)
* A standard 4-way intersection

** UPGRADING THE TRAILS **
The new Mountain Trails files will be installed in the Mountain Theme Pack Folder.
 You must remove the old version files from the Pine Trails folder.  If that folder
contains other lots as well, retain the folder until those lots are updated.
 Otherwise, just delete the folder.

If installing from the ZIP archive, unzip the file to your C:\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder making sure that the "Use Folder Names" option is selected. The product will be installed in an appropriate folder under the PEGPROD sub-folder which will be created if it does not already exist on your system. Once installed, the product will be ready to use in your game. Lots will appear in the menu listed in the above Product Details section.

There is nothing overly sophisticated with these lots. They are very flexible and easy to use. They adapt well to sloped terrain but can be made to look better following the simple rules below:

1. Do not make your slopes too steep. The lots will stretch out and handle a slope far steeper than any human could walk up... but it won't look too realistic.

2. Consider smoothing your trail path before plopping it by running a road along the path... then bulldozing it. The road will smooth out the transitions from one tile to another, making the trail look more natural.

3. For very steep slopes,  consider terrasculpting the ever-dreaded switchbacks. They are an extreme pain to make.... but very realistic looking.
