Title: Size of BATs compared to RL
Post by: Rady on March 07, 2010, 02:39:43 PM
High, so I finally started to fuss around with the SC4BAT to create my first own Models and LOTs. I already read some (very useful!) tutorials here and over at ST, but couldn't find a post that I think have read some long time ago. My question is - how about tha scale of a SC4 BAT? The grid size is 16 m, ok. But if modelling something from a RL example, do you take the exact scale in widht, length and height? Or is there some scale ratio? E.g. a street in SC4 is 1 tile wide, but obviously a normal street isn't 16m wide in RL .. but maybe some 7 m for a simple country road?

Is there a golden rule for a ration to convert between RL measure and SC4 measure?

Simcity has a lot of scale issues. Sims are some 3m tall, bus-stops are taller than buses, and often taller than some houses. In genreral, small objects are scaled up, and large objects rather scaled down. This is to achieve a more "uniform" appearance. As more or less everything appears to be wrong scaled, attempting to right-size some things will rather make them looking wrong-sized instead!  ???
