Title: What happens with de Plugin Manager?
Post by: Engorn on May 13, 2010, 04:39:30 AM
Hello everybody there.

Look, I have a problem with the Plugin Manager, and as far as I know, I'm not the only one with the same problem. The matter is that the Descriptors menu is empty.

This is what I see when I open the Plugin Manager.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg94.imageshack.us%2Fimg94%2F1687%2Fchinocs.jpg&hash=57ddf836f68c27eaf6048f439c6b56985aea91f6)

Anyone knows why that happens and how to solve it?

Well not sure what sort of problem would cause this, unless you don't have any plugins in your folder or it's not set up to read the ones in your plugins

Though will say this the sc4Pim or SC4tool are better programs to use to view and manage your plugins.

I have the SC4Tool, but I'm not able to put a model as a prop (that's what I want the Plugin Manager for). Anyway, I have plugins on my plugins folder, over than 6Gb's... So, if that's is not having anything... :P

The model file has to be in your   \My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\   and not in a folder. The XTool will see a model that is in a folder but the Maxis PIM does not.

gMax places new models in the Plugins Root when it creates the file. In my case it would be
\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\myhouse_0x2478561_0x3858591_0x30000.SC4MODEL

Hope this helps.

Well, I think that my problem hasn't been understand. The problem is not that nothing appears on the Models menu. It's that I can't open the Descriptors menu. As you see, it doesn't appear the + symbol on the left of the Descriptors word, the symbol which would open a menu where I could choose if my new model would be a park, a prop or anything else.

I have all the plugins on the correct folder. I've been playing SC4 for ¿seven years? and I use downloads constantly. ;)

By any chance, did you just install the "fixed" Plugin Manager that EA offers, or the complete package that includes the BAT, an updated Lot Editor and the Plugin Manager? You need the latter in order to run everything properly.

Ahm. And where I can find it?

Anyway. If I have the lot editor installed and BAT, I have to reinstall them?

Just install the BAT (available at the official download site; I think it only works if you installed gmax before as well) - it will also install the Lot Editor and Plugin Manager, and everything should work out ouf the box.
